unfortunately for the radiation goblins, these little guys are pests who eat crops. so we've got some neat competition going if the radiation-goblins decide to take up agriculture. i really want to look up chernobyl and such to see what actually settled there but might be a starting point for insect evolution in the radiation-blasted regions

on other wilder bugworld news i think it would be neat if we got a hermit-crab-like creature who basically parasitises the machine army. exploits some weakness to get inside the machines and uses them as a shell

SAME!! machine army is such an underrated antagonist. have you read Kid Win's Big Break by @nihilistic-janitor*? it's unfinished but it's really good and the Machine Army is the main antagonist. it's responsible for 90% of my machine army appreciation. the other 10% is courtesy of the Dot interlude - I've actually also toyed with a Dot-centric Ward AU where Dot triggers, with the Machine Army as an antagonist, just for the sake of fighting those funky death bots.

I also came up with a Ward dark timeline once but it was just. what if Dot ran into Chris instead of Amy at the Wardens HQ and when she spilled her "infect the hub of civilisation with the Machine Army" plan his brain lit up like a Christmas tree with ACTION BIG ACTION BIG ACTION!!!!!! and they destroyed the world together. so there's not very much story potential

@p-clodius-pulcher showed me this crazy quote, wherein "his family may have opted to allow only two sons to marry" made me go "so you are saying in a later era, Crassus would be a priest".

OHHHH THIS IS DELICIOUS. every discussion revolving around Crassus' marriage to his sister-in-law is so so fun. we have archaic traditions & obligations, there's the matter of keeping the dowry in the family (which in turn lends to a fun exploration of the economy at the time, wrt to crassus' father's policy making), & combined together, there's something to be said for the reasoning that the brother-sister marriage records of roman egypt may have had more to do with keeping property in the family.

but now with fraternal pietas? HELLO!! new things to think about. I'm going to unpack this with a magnifying glass.
