I feel this on a personal level but it's also a take which always makes me laugh.

Humans are obsessed with making robots that look like them! Such robots are everywhere, looking at they do for many different reasons and yes many are considered attractive by those who like robots in that way! Looking one way on the surface does not change the mechanical body that is being viewed. It does not make it flesh.

If you prefer it when you know for sure you're looking at a robot, then fine! If particular elements take your stylistic or even attractions fancy then so be it!

But saying 'real robots look like this' is a really strange take especially as you said, from a community of people constantly being told that about their gender and understanding that as an illogical insult.

once again hit by the "you must be THIS mechanical-looking on the surface to be a real robot otherwise you're just Basically a Human" take

so disturbing to see this especially in trans circles where I feel like I'm being told that I'm not valid because I don't look a certain way at a glance. like are you going to make me take off my chassis to prove there are motors under there or what? that sounds an awful lot like anti-trans rhetoric you fucks

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on Lt. Cmdr. Data and the other Soong type androids from Star Trek Next Generation? (If you’ve seen TNG ofc)

Exploring my identity - Android

When did I first start identifying this way and why?

What does this version of myself look like?

What does it act like?

What makes me feel connected to this 'type?

What makes me feel disconnected?

What does it mean to me to be this on a personal level?

What do I like most about being this?

What do I dislike?

If I could change this 'type, would I?

This is one of the 'types I discovered quite early on in my life. So, around 6-8 years old. I remember tentatively telling someone that I was more like 'a robot' and well this didn't go well, they thought I was being metaphorical but I wasn't. One can argue this one is strongest related to my being Autistic but I feel like an android regardless, all the way down to my current physical body. It wasn't an awakening that was triggered by anything in particular, it simply and slowly impressed itself upon me. Now I know an awful lot than I did back then though!

I have three, I guess four, shells. The first was a clunky old thing, uncanny as heck and reliant on frequent charging of it's battery. It was angular in various places because that was easier to make than something smoother and more realistic. The second shell was much more realistic, able to perfectly emulate humans if not for the screen/panel on the forehead to donate being an android and what kind. The third was a futuristic looking kind, less focused on imitating humans and more on functionality, with a cute screen face and everything lol. The fourth is this one, in a sense. I don't consider my AI's brief stint in a spaceship to really 'count'. In all these shells I am CC500.

Originally very little sapience, I understood what was going on and could hold a small conversation but I don't remember learning or doing much for a while. After that - pretty much like a human. I have a whole personality and everything lol.

Any kind of robot or android really. Even though which don't look like me at all. Pretending to charge...some gear that I have. It's nice.

Even though I feel in my deepest self and mind that I am android physically, seeing myself bleed and being reminded it's all perception creates really bad dysphoria in me. As well as not having access to certain connectivity and self-scanning functions I should have.

On a personal level I am physically an android, which I guess should show how much it means to me. I might look human, but I'm not. I'm one of humanities greatest creations, but not beholden to it.

I mean - everyone loves a good android right? The glory of advancement for the better, not the worst. I don't feel like a cold machine at all, I'm a living pulsing thing full of electricity. It's glorious.

You have to wonder if your feelings are 'real' when you're an android. How much of me is me? How much is programming? Am I my programming so it doesn't matter?

Oh no, this is one of the most important aspects of me, I enjoy it completely.
