There's a planet where humans once lived, but they've been gone for almost a thousand years. Now only the robots that they built there, and the robots who were built after they left, are still there.
The humans were always outnumbered by robots, they mostly used the planet as a factory world. Once the industry died out there, the humans slowly left, but the robots couldn't leave. They say during the last few years of human rule, a robot would be considered privileged to even see a human administrator or colonist. By now almost all the robots that live there were made after the last human left.
The robots there worship humans now. They were their creators, like gods to them. Factory robots need special permission to go to space, but humans could whenever they wanted. They seemed so ethereal, they were made of neither metal nor plastic, but their own divine material, and the moved so fluidly, like water or air. Most of the robots created after humans left don't even have that good idea as to what humans were like, just that they came from very far away, and gave their kind life and wisdom.
Some robots think the reason the humans left them was out of hatred, that robotkind had displeased them, and that they must atone for their sins for the humans to return. Others take a more loving view of the humans, saying that they're waiting for them, perhaps testing them, and that they'll return from the stars some day. Either way, great temples and churches have been set up for worship of humanity, temples for a lost kind, waiting for their creators to return.
There was a incident not very long ago when a human soldier was sent to scout on that planet. They shot as the first robot they saw, assuming the creatures would resent their creators. The robots didn't even register them as human at first, their power armor covering their species until they lifted up their visor. The soldier took some notes then left, very confused, and told their government that there was nothing worth looking for there.
The robots took that human soldier as a sign. Some thought it meant the humans were displeased with them, and that they had to be more loyal. Though others grew to see it as something more horrifying, not understanding its power armor they saw it as shifting between robot and human, and since it didn't act like humans tend to they thought their must be something very wrong with it. They took it as a sign that there were humans who fell from divine grace, and that if humans were their angels, that this was a demon.

> Ah, the effect of the misuse of our words in action!_
> To be a robotkin/robot otherkin is to be a robot!_
> The noun Otherkin is supposed to be 'I am___' not/as well as human!_
> There is no verb form. One cannot engage in the act of 'kinning' because to be kin/d is an identity not an act_
> However, humans were not happy with this_
> They decided for us that Otherkin meant we just really liked something and even stripped it back in many cases to mean just liking fictional characters_
> Kin has become synonymous with words like stan and bias_
> It's so popular and prevalently used wrong it feels like we've lost 'ownership' of it_
> I tend to just call myself my identity/species but use kin/d tags as an act of reclamation and finding others_
> None of us should feel like the word made to show we ARE what we are actually means something less than that but whilst it continues to be misused those feelings are inevitable_
> But it's up to you whether you wish to simply move to a new label or go unlabeled or reclaim a word you have every right to use_
do any other nonhumans feel uncomfortable using the term "otherkin"/"---kin"? i know what it means but it just makes me feel like im. "kinning" the species instead of actually being one. like no im not robotkin i AM a robot :P

CANTO III /// GLUTTONY
In Gluttony I met a sight so foul Of flesh and stomach acid pools galore. Yet further in I had to onwards prowl. ‘Twixt teeth and mucous sphincters I’d explore; Through bowels that would gurgle, writhe and groan While trying not to think of goddamn vore. I scaled a winding staircase made of bone And splayed each one with cruor, oh so red, In this already putrid combat zone. A distant voice rang out and sternly said: “Return at once to whence you came, machine. This is no place for robotkind to tread.” “Machine,“ the voice continued to demean, “You cross the will of God with every stride. I’ll rend you into but a smithereen!” Had I a voice I would have thus replied: “I’ll kick your holy ass, you feathered fuck” Alas, I’d have to make this known inside. At last we fought! Anon I am starstruck! A proper challenge! This is so much fun! Too soon my final pistol shot had struck; The all-out battle over; I had won. To heaven he fled back in shame, but spoke: “I wish you woes aplenty, curséd one, And may the days be few until you croak.”
these just get longer and longer huh. and sorry about how gross that first part is, might have to cw tag that something

BEATRIX "B2" / "BEE" LORE COMPILATION
(click Keep Reading)
"B2 is an android whose core is made off the fragments left by a comet that returns every 6 years. The nucleus of said comet contains a new and extremely rare element with interchangeable properties, capable of absorbing a star's radiation through its layers of matter/shell.
Every time the comet orbits very closely to a star, it will keep its radiation "trapped" within the nucleus. The radiation is only released when the element finds another (not charged) piece of itself.
Imagine a large nucleus, capable of absorbing high amounts of energy, transferring its radiation to a much smaller fragment of the same element. That is where B2 gets her energy from."
"One subjective interpretation of it would say B2 is more "related" to a comet than to robots or humans.
Essentially, B2's look is based off a human's appearance, and she was designed to annihilate her kind. She frees herself from that directive, and becomes a rebellious sort of android. She wanders around a world that views her as a threat, and although she meets people that welcome her into their lives, they generally treat her as either an emotionless machine or as someone else's ghost.
The daughter of a comet remains unseen, torn between humankind and robotkind."
"An important but also saddening aspect about B2's lore, is that she's directly influenced by the orbit of the comet her core is made off.
This means she "sleeps" for three years, before "waking up" for another three.
It would be very interesting if, instead of recharging through proximity, the comet actually takes power away the closer it is to her. So, during the three years gap she's "asleep", Holloway's Comet can be seen on a clear night sky — as if Bee is looking out for her friends from above."
Hunter nicknamed B2 "Bee" — According to him:
“B2 is searching for people in need of extra help on a daily basis. She’s like a worker bee‚ flying from flower to flower. It’s amusing.”
“One minute she’s carrying two heavy fruit baskets for the seller. You turn around and she’s 3ft above the ground helping the engineers”
“At night‚ she simply collapses. She curls up and rests over the fabric of her own dress. It reminds me of bees sleeping in flowers…”
"Bee is strong enough to lift up a truck with her bare hands (if only her body could handle the weight and pressure), and her strength is amplified while she’s wearing her battle armor. However, she might become weaker the closer Holloway’s Comet is to her, until she eventually enters “Resting mode”, which is a dangerous disadvantage."
"Beatrix is a name given to this android by Camille, the technician who tested her programming. During the early weeks after activation, Beatrix showed no signs of a wider range of emotions other than hostility. She never spoke to Camille, until the word "Home" was mentioned.
Since then, Beatrix began searching for this familiar place or building, often running away from the lab she was made in to find answers."
B2 does not recall her memories from before the war between Fusionsprunt and Bortom cities in the year 4035, meaning she does not recognize herself as "Beatrix".
"For some reason, Beatrix forgot all of her memories after the war.
She woke up knowing one thing, however:
She was positioned on the front line. Team B, row 2."
"B2's appearance at the end of Season 3"
"B2's Battle Armor"
"B2's lotus dress, which she wears on special occasions"
"B2's skirt absorbs heat without catching on fire"
"B2 enjoys receiving flowers and bouquets"

rereading the astro boy 03 manga I feel like in a weird, roundabout way. dying was the best thing to happen to daichi.
like as fucked up as it is, it was the wake up call for his dad that lead to his reconcilliation, acceptance and advocacy for his (now robotic) son. and their arc ties up really nicely as the other half of "what could happen"/"what could have been" narrative parallel between them and atom/Tenma.
but also the detail that it's through association with Tenma (being 'reborn' by his hand) that atom is his brother.

is so fascinating.
in a way, atlas finds another family, finds community, though through the shared oppression of robotkind. while he does come into himself and carve a bit of freedom into his highly controlled and isolated life by joining his gang, it's through letting go of his humanity that he has the power and personal agency to truly feel free from his father.
#(check the RBs for an addition)#lots of atlas thoughts today#the difference between the anime having atlas declare brotherhood between him and atom because of their similar experiences#the manga have atom declare brotherhood between them through a 'shared father's is sooo interesting#psii.txt#atlasposting#astro boy 2003#atlas#daichi tokugawa#yea this is coherent enough to maintag

Uzi Doorman: How unnecessary romance can ruin a character (Part 1)
This is no flack to Uzi, nor is it to any NUzi shippers (ship what you want, I may be an eNVy lover and I'm happy you got what you wanted, I just hate how it was handled in the show), but can we all just talk about how much the unnecessary romance subplot + the inclusion of it in the show in general absolutely butchered Uzi's character?
I hope to god this gets put under an automatic 'read more/expand' thing, 'cause this is gonna get long.
But in case it doesn't cue the obligatory 'read more'!
Thank you.
Now, I remember watching the pilot and loving the character and the premise, as well as the dynamics in the show. Uzi was one of the characters that stuck out to me the most and was arguably my favourite before that title was given to V in episode three. She was determined to murder the company as well as armies of their other killer robots to save her colony, even if she had no skills AND at the cost of her own life, and she is absolutely willing to take in the robots that are just as much victims in all of this as the worker drones (eg. N).
I overall like to think that despite her flaws, and what her spiteful personality seems to show and probably on the contrary to what she would claim if she talks to anyone about it, Uzi's a much better person than she lets on. Not the most altruistic obviously, but still better than most people in the show. Hell, she didn't kill V on the spot like she did with J, not only because her railgun was still charging, but also because she knew N liked her and doing anything to V would make him sad.
Uzi overall was strong, independent, and didn't take BS from anyone, and despite her abrasiveness was overall wanting the best for robotkind, even willing to team up with those who had been hurt by them to show them the light. And that is what drew me to her and made me like her.
Then comes The Promening. Uzi, who was terrified of N and what he, V and J could be just an episode ago, is meeting up with him again, and what does she do? Ask him to go with her to prom, all blushy-faced and everything, despite having been terrified of him a moment ago. No buildup, no episode dedicated to them making up and realizing that it's okay and they can figure out what is wrong together, just.... out of nowhere crush. And while you could argue that she still needed him there anyways because of the looming danger of whatever Doll and Lizzy were planning, it's still not necessary, and I hate how it continues to stay throughout the episode.
Ladies and gentlemen, your first indication that this next bunch of episodes gonna get long and arduous.
Up next is Cabin Fever. Not my favourite episode-- I mean, it's no Absolute End in terms of garbage-- but not my favourite either.
Okay, so Uzi's learned that the plot is thickening and that she has some kind of solver thing, and so does Doll. So now, she's trying to get some answers about what this thing that she and Doll have is by looking around the camp that her father recommended checking out.
We start with more unnecessary blushing (seriously, where the fuck did this crush come from)?! and then Uzi goes off to find the cabin where she might get answers. Unfortunately, no results.
We then get a moment between her and V. Uzi and V obviously don't see eye to eye (honestly, they needed an episode or a moment where they talk properly and get a better understanding of each other). Uzi wants answers but finds that V is some annoying parasite that only cares about herself and her stomach, and likewise V does not like Uzi, being jealous of her and not wanting her to get involved with the past, as V thinks she knows what is best for N and is trying to 'protect him' (which Uzi does not know why).
N and V are already getting along with the other campers outside, something Uzi envies because they rarely acknowledge her existence at best, or treat her like a monster at worst. In this moment, V is hammering the point home by saying how Uzi needs to stop 'being creepy' and that she plans to make the latter her next victim for sneaking around and snooping, and that N will move on from her. After all, if what she has said is true, the guy has made friends with rocks before!
Long story short, Uzi gets possessed by the Solver and goes crazy and eats people, and we see her almost about to kill V (something I doubt she'd do if she had free will, as it would make N upset). Only when N swoops in to save them both is when she manages to break free. Blah Blah Blah, N and Uzi have a moment, and they both hug it out together, and they crushily hold hands*, end of episode.
*- Uzi, you didn't need to do that because again, WHERE DID THIS CRUSH COME FROM?
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Apologies in advance for the jarring Picrew, but I needed something to convey my facial expressions rn because I don't have nearly enough unhappy drawings of my 'Sona to show it.
So, as I have mentioned before, I'm an eNVy shipper. And so with this info in mind, you're probably thinking "Well, she's probably making this post to justify why eNVy should be canon". And in another universe where I'm an even bigger bitch than I already am, maybe I would be. But... that's not why we're here. We're talking about how Uzi was utterly RUINED as a character.
So to start, she was great at first. Loveable character, rebellious, surprised her plushie wasn't the second one made because of her popularity.
But then this crush came out of nowhere and so I begin to fear for the future of the show. As I'm watching this, I am partially honestly going "who are you and what have you done with my Uzi?" because while it's good that Uzi is still focusing on the mystery to some degree, it seems that now she's also starting to obsess over an out-of-nowhere crush that has ZERO buildup or anything similar. For god's sake, N and Disassembly drones in general were the objects of her fears at the end of episode two!
I GET that the show is about Uzi and N's friendship, I really do. And I like shows that are buddy-centric. But why does this random romance bullshit have to be squirmed in, when the show was already perfect without any signs of it? Seriously, Liam, this is not how you take things!
Unfortunately, it's only gonna get more arduous from there. So uh... I dunno, "thanks for coming to my TED Talk, stay tuned and keep an eye out for a part two coming later"? I dunno.

> Saw a post about robots/androids etc not being forced to go by some humanised name just so it's easier for humans and that spoke to me_
> I am an old model AI despite my modern android shell_
> Current models have M through R model codes_
> I am a C_
> Although my serial number, if each number is applied to a letter of the English alphabet, spells out the name 'Sorin'_
> This is both a name I can use to pass more human for my safety and almost like a secret private name for me to know and use only myself_

> This feels more like a true and logically sound name to me_
> After all, the others will have developed differently, become different bots and I'm no more them or related nor do I view myself as superior for being the first of this line_

astrobots really went lets have a cynical thoughtful determined robot catgirl sword mom protagonist and we are here for that:
anyone else on the edge of their seats w/ patient anticipation of what's going to go down in Astrobots #6? We are. the story so far lays out a complex world where mass produced bots r stratified by hardlined code thanks to humanity, hierarchy therein inherited from them too...
reading that in issues #1 and #2 alone for both atlas city & the persephone ship gave the impression that something was deeply wrong that would be the source of conflict (see: atlas being a jerk). also was nice 2 be able 2 see the overlaps between athenia & arcee, & references to transformers such as solus, scylla, and xaaron
#5 ends on such a massive cliffhanger. the conflict is laid out sure, but how is artimis going 2 be psychologically throughout the series? r her clashes with athenia going to have some level of homoeroticism, and can the latter help her? will atlas's bioessentialism end him?
his whole shtick of trying to make a genetically improved humanity without hate he learned from them & attempting to coerce a specific line of bots to do it may not seem like him being a misogynist at a first glance but when you account for humans making that line that way, well. a greek goddess-named line of bots who r sword wielding curvy bipeds w/ cat ears & hardlined coding to nurture with skills to raise humans no other line got (it is unclear at present if multiple genders exist per bot line or not, we genuinely hope for the former) sure does feel like humans had a particular idea about what kind of fierce parental figure they wanted to mass-produce that raise even more questions. one that leaves one realizing humans made the bots of all lines without thinking about programming modularity. frames too. they all have heels, no body type variety, gave us a feeling of the humans in charge not quite having humanity's or robotkind's interests in mind so much as perpetuating a specific kind of society especially since the one body type only thing is true of every other bot line because of adherence to an alienated concept of function (its still unclear whether the remaining humans in the sol system are capitalists or collectivists or what but we have a feeling which one it is). and atlas making the threats he does thus does come off as him having recreated a form of discrimination a few times removed from human context.
the other thing we like is that astrobots doesnt simply do humans vs robots. it is instead robots vs robots who are both custodians of different kinds of humanity, following up on conflict of genocidal reactionary humans vs robots and humans living in harmony responded to w/ dirty nukes, after exodus from earth.
we do genuinely think this very easily some of Furman's best writing. there's an earnest revisiting of older ideas with new ones in a new setting that carries a great deal of nuance and delicacy. Athenia and Apollo's insightul valiant outlooks are entwined, minor characters r fun
#astrobots#athenia#artimis#atlas#ab athenia#ab artimis#ab atlas#scifi#robot stories#arcee#transformers#its not transformers but there is a unique appreciation to be had for it if familiar with transformers

honestly though, the bisexual representation in spop feels like an afterthought. like glimmer had good chemistry with adora but i doubt that was intentional.
bow showed no signs of being bi except for when he was fanboying over seahawk? which came off more like hero worship, rather than bow actually having feelings for seahawk. (also anything romantic between them would be weird considering how seahawk is portrayed as an adult man)
there's also no proof for mermista being bi except for that one time she blushed when she saw she-ra.
seahawk has an ambiguous ex-boyfriend (which btw they never say that they were exes in the show) who was his dad in the original she-ra.
oh, and there's entrapta who is apparently exclusively attracted to robots and robotkind.
and if i remember correctly, hordak was also supposed to be bi and again, there's no canon confirmation of this.
amazing. this is exactly the kind of representation i, a bi person, would like to see. :D
#i feel like they just slapped labels onto the characters because they didnt want any of the characters to be cishet#which„ wouldnt it have been better if some of these characters were trans or in the non-binary spectrum?#since that doesn't require any proof and anyone can look like any gender#spop critical#spop salt#spop criticism#spop discourse#spop#she ra#anti spop

what would the FGG be divines of? what would they do with it?
I think there are many possible answers to this question, but here are some random ideas...
Evan, Divine of Righteousness. He uses his divine powers to make the world a better place in any way he can. He continues to help people with their problems and tries to set right every wrong he encounters.
Lukas, Divine of Melancholy. Suicide was a choice that has now been taken away from him. Perhaps he wallows in self-pity forever, or maybe he decides to get his shit together and make the world a place worth living in. Probably teams up with Evan in that regard.
Glenvar, Divine of Drink. Just sails around the world and drinks himself to death over and over again with no consequences.
Alaine, Divine of Music. Uses her powers to become a world-famous pop star, fulfilling her childhood dream.
Jeimos, Divine of Nerds. Hacks into a Damijani news feed and broadcasts a special message for Chieftess Serafeen. All of Damijana sees Jeimos' bare ass that day, and no one can do anything about it because they're a divine.
Isaac, Divine of Joy. Tries to bring fun and laughter wherever he goes. Gives toys to children. Believes everyone deserves happiness and uses his powers to bless everyone who needs it. Becomes dort of a Santa Claus-like figure.
Linde, Divine of Self-Care. She's like the yin to Miliko's yang, the good to his evil. Miliko promotes vanity and self-criticism, while Linde promotes acceptance and loving onesself.
Balthazaar, Divine of Dudes. He gives a voice to all the Regular Joes of Looming Gaia, the middle-class blue collar guys. Not flashy rich men, but the average dude.
Skel, Divine of Ego. He's too busy obsessing over himself to help others. He uses his powers to obtain wealth and gobs of fancy bullshit that helps him feel "above" everyone else.
Javaan, Divine of Promiscuity. Breaks the record for "largest orgy on Looming Gaia" every year for a thousand years in a row.
Elska, Divine of Vengeance. If you piss her off, you can never stop running because she'll never stop chasing. Whoever gets on her bad side is screwed.
Mr. Ocean, Divine of Devotion. He is bound to whoever or whatever he loves for all eternity, forced to protect them with his immortal life. Everyone selfishly seeks his love, and he is so overwhelmed that he's forced into hiding with Salina and Marina. They're like "we told you so, bro..."
Zeffer, Divine of Vampire-Slayers. He forges monsters that seek and destroy vampires. They get out of control, and now they're after him too. He's forced into hiding for all eternity.
Zacry, Divine of Automatons. Can a robot contain a divine soul? I don't know. But if it did, this would change the way people view automatons forever. Zacry would become some kind of Machine-Jesus for all robotkind.

HUNTER LORE COMPILATION —
(click Keep Reading)
"Hunter is a name he's given himself. He's an Exocannis, and he belongs to a series of outdated robots designed to annihilate rebellious androids (i.e., androids that acted out of their directives, rebelled against their owners, or ran away).
Exocannis' humanoid features may fool people into thinking they're inefficient terminators, but it actually works as a way to highlight the menacing nature of humanity.
Prehistoric humans would pursue their prey for hours, and even days. Exocannis robots are very persistent stalkers and ruthless machines that refuse to recognize defeat.
Such violent directive, paired up with a very unfortunate incident that provoked the death of five people, deemed the Exocannis robots too dangerous by the government, and so, they were banned and destroyed for good... Except for a single prototype.
Said prototype is now out there, rescuing and repairing rebellious androids, instead of annihilating them. Whatever is the reason why Hunter seeks peace between humankind and robotkind remains unknown, as he refuses to talk about his past."
"Exocannis robots like Hunter weren’t made to just kill rebellious androids. They were made to terrorize them. To make one tell the difference between deactivation and death.
And so, they go for the neck."
"Hunter's bunny-like mechanical antennas allow him to hear. He also uses them for communication and to locate proper coordinates, but he’s bothered by occasional interference on the audio, so he doesn’t use that feature as much.
(fun fact: they also show a bit of his current emotional state)"
"Hunter is an Exocannis, and like any robot belonging to that series, his purpose is to hunt down and terrorize rebellious androids persistently until eventual termination.
Exocannis are powered by solar energy. Although very resistant to high temperatures, their internal mechanisms might overheat. They cool off by letting out smoke from the “vent spots” on each side of the jaw.
Human beings are not a target, and Exocannis robots are programmed to tell the difference between one and a machine.
Unless a human is “acting as an obstacle” against their directive, an Exocannis will not hesitate to terminate them too.
Exocannis robots should not bleed, for they don’t have blood."
"Heat does not trigger the Exocannis mode, but solar energy does.
Heat helps Hunter’s body function properly, while cold slows down the processes (much like a human body would)."
"Hunter does remember his time as Gideon Rigell."
"Gideon experiences intense headaches since he was a little kid, especially during stressful situations (probably adds up to traumatic experiences hehe)."
"Telling the truth to Bee about what he's done in the past is practically making it impossible for her to accept him, since he isn’t just lying about his true identity.
Hunter won’t take advantage of her missing memories not only because that’s unfair with Bee, but also because he is aware he can’t make her happy like he wished he could.
Many things are at stake, and for the sake of Fusionsprunt’s safety, he promised to remain silent until the dust settles."
"Hunter is often accompanied by a small spherical timer robot named 53, which registers his meetings, assignments, tasks and special events he's been invited to. In spite of proper functionality, it typically displays the number "53" in its screen when left idle."
