Vavel Vacationaries: CC-Free Community Lot
When I was messing with TS3 during my yearly brief revisit of it, I tried out the resort management gameplay from Island Paradise. I always like to make a single adult sim to try out the huge amount of features TS3 has, and for resort management I went with a 1980s businesswoman.
Long story short, that sim and the pre-built resort I had her running inspired me to try to shoddily adapt that concept into TS2.
So this is a community lot, sorta designed like a tropical hotel/resort, but mostly just for aesthetics as it's not a "real" hotel (ie not zoned as one in-game, so the front desk object does nothing, it's just for decoration). There are 4 beds though, and if you do want to have a longer vacation-type experience on the lot you'd need the Sleep on Community Lots mod to have sims be able to use the beds.
Going along with my resort management inspiration, I tested out having this lot as an owned business, but it was pretty boring because sims would stand around thinking about buying a ticket from the Electrono-Ticket Machine, and once they did they would all go over to the Taste of the Tropics Food Stand and stand around thinking about buying food, and almost all of them would end up leaving the lot before they even bought any food. They literally didn't do anything else lol.
Soooo yeah that didn't work out, it was more fun to play it as a normal unowned community lot - And just pretend that it's owned by the sim I made, I guess.

sorry guys my brain is going so fast in this waffle house (my futon) tonite. anyways when I was younger I was always vaguely affronted by the anime adaptation of many of CLAMP's works changing things because why do that to someone's story?? but now that I'm older and I've actually spent time noticing what they actually changed I have to say that at least for ccs and angelic layer. most of these changes were actually for the better imo. they made these changes to make the story more coherent, often at the cost of CLAMPverse Easter eggs
like for example in angelic layer they made misaki's mom have a degenerative muscle disorder that slowly stripped her off her ability to walk. when Misaki was younger, she left to the big city to receive treatment, feeling like she had failed as a single mother by being disabled. she felt too ashamed of her rapidly worsening legs and didn't want to return home until she could walk again. months turned to years and now she's been gone for all of her daughter's formative years. and now you're going to finally run into her? in a thing so frivolous as a game tournament of all things ??? God that just sets up so much great conflict you know.
and the fact that the fighting dolls are prototype prosthetics that they commercialized in order to fund more research. it's literally such a coherent story. they needed her to stay as a treat subject for this study.
in the angelic layer manga that aspect of the story completely didn't exist and she was just being like. a deadbeat mom (surely there's like some kind of justification but like. it pales in comparison to what the anime did)
another thing was the romance between her mom and ichiro-- this also didn't occur in angelic layer because ichiro's married to Hideki's landlord in Chobits. you do not find this out until chobits comes out years later. but in the anime you have this guy who accidentally fell in love with the test subject for his research study and then moves mountains and parts seas to continue that research knowing a functioning prosthetic can bring her back together with her daughter. (additionally I like that the story ends without those prosthetics being made-- of course Misaki will still love her mother even if she's wheelchair bound. she doesn't need her mother to be able, she just wants her in her life) like this is neat but it also feels like CLAMP shot themselves in the foot because they were too committed to creating a multiverse whose continuity was absolute

1. What’s your favorite sims death? I haven't had a sim die from anything other than old age in a HOT minute but I saw a LP and the murphy bed death seems so unecessarily violent lmfao.
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? BOTH! I consider my style Maxis Mix. We love a nice combo of both.
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Not anymore but at one point I had to. Let me explain: I don't know if it was a glitch but like after every meal with grannie's cookbook, Indya would gain weight instantly. Didn't happen with anyone else (although everyone else are athletes of some sort). She's always and forever thick but something was definitely up with the food mods I was using. Anyway, we're good now since I'm not playing her HH exclusively anymore.
4. Do you use move objects? Absolutely. Its too restrictive! Gotta play test when I do though because routing errors make me irrationally angry.
5. Favorite mod? Wickedwhims. I don't care! If I want my sims to get freak-nasty I have a blog for that and WW never fumbles. If I want them to do cute little intimate things, WW is there. If you don't like the smut, I feel bad for you son.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I've gotten pretty much ever iteration of this game except for almost all of the kits and the star wars pack.
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? ALIVE. I don't understand the other one honestly lol. We're going LIVE as soon as I press play so....
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? Obvs Indya Drake!

HOW VIOLETTA AND SL CHARACTERS PLAY THE SIMS (+ their favorite sims games)
This is a very important post. I am more than qualified for it.
Violetta, Francesca and Naty are in the same category because they'll play the sims in the same way: Big happy families. Barely any drama at all. Just sims getting married, having children, raising them, repeat. They all have epic family trees that they have spent time and effort on. They don't have a specific sims game, they love them all (well, except for Sims 1, as it's harder to really have babies there than it is in other sims games). They love how the sims 2 focuses so much on families and generations, they love the generations expansion pack in the sims 3, and all the family aspects in the sims 4 too.
Ludmila goes the opposite route: The more drama and angst, the better. Every time her sims are slightly happy, she'll ruin it for them. Everyone breaks up, people die easily, it's just always some sim crying. I think she likes the sims 3 the most due to the open world and how the sims can live their own lives while she goes and meddle with it. She also likes the pre-established dramas in the sims 2 with the premades, and the fact that Sims 2 has a "create own neighbourhood" option, so you can create an entire community with just your own sims. Supernovaville is an iconic place she has made.
Camila loves making stories. She doesn't particularly have a favorite sims game, but she does love being in control, so she does love how Sims 2 have the thing of "family is paused when you play another family". However, she does really like the sims 3, most of all due to the 70s-80s-90s-stuff pack. She also does like Sims 4. She has had many epic stories of her sims, and following her telling people about them is like following the most confusing telenovela. It's so the point where she has dedicated entire neighbourhoods after sims. Once she even liked a sim so much she made a cult that worshipped the sim after their death, having their urn in the middle of an attic as the worshippers gathered around.
Leon and Maxi love to play with mods and cheats. They know every cheat to man and thinks mods make the games much more interesting. Their favorite game is the sims 4, as they have the most recent mods there.
The other Violetta characters don't really play the sims. Andres tried once and got scared because his sim died, and he felt so bad about it he never touched the game again.
Luna loves the Sims 3 the most, and that is most of all because of the color wheel and create a style-option. She loves having sims with funny genes like purple hair, and picking any color or pattern she wants on anything in the game. She also, of course, loves the open world, and have multiple times forgotten to take care of her sims' needs because she's busy exploring the world they live in - zoom in on the smallest details, always go "ooh, what's that? Who's that?". Her sims are exhausted because she forces them to go to random places all the time to explore, forgetting to let them eat or sleep. She is however, kind of sad you can only roller skate at a rink and not out in the open.
Ámbar I think rarely creates her own sims, she just likes to be in charge of the ones already created, and guide them on their way. This is why she loves the Sims 2 the most - in there, she can be the most in control, as the premades already have pre-established backstories. For better or for worse, she is here to fix or mess up all the premades lives. She only creates her own family when she wants to test something out or wants to spice up the life of the already existing families.
Jazmin loves the Sims 4 the most and downloads too much CC to make her sims more beautiful. Her game is corrupted and her computer storage is full with all the CC she has.
Yam also likes the Sims 3 the most due to the create a style and the color wheel (designer gurl at heart). She also goes around making sims gay. You bet that, when the Into the Future expansion pack came, she immediately took all her gay sims to the future so they could have biological children at the hospital there. Oh, also she loves to make sure her sims reach level 10 of their careers and fulfill their lifetime wishes, because she's a perfectionist when it comes to the Sims.
Nina always plans ahead what she wants to do with her sims. She creates the perfect house for them, plan out their futures immediately... only problem is when the sims disobey her, or when she grows bored... but she genuinely feels bad about abandoning families or start new save files. She likes the Sims 3 and 4 the most, as there, households can take care of their own when you play with another household. So she has just neighbourhoods filled with created sims she has left for a new family, so she just lets them grow on their own, and then she can come back when she wants to fix them again.
Jim and Delfi both just spam motherlode and make their sims move into the biggest houses, play with them for a solid day and then grow bored, abandoning the household and start a new save file the next day. Only difference is that Jim feels sad about it and sometimes have tried to keep playing with a household to "not make her sims sad". Neither of them have a preference for a Sims game though.
Simón has no Sims preference, he just likes to make his sims do the weirdest shit possible just for giggles. A family full of people in hot dog suits? Typing testingcheatsneabled true and change random sims passing by in CAS, where he has changed their age, gender, or just their clothes? Purposely making people get abducted by aliens? Just trying to find every strange thing or npc there is? He seeks for the weirdness and the Sims games provide it.
Ramiro only plays the Sims 1, because, in his words, nothing can top it. So he has so fun adventures there. He does like that sims can randomly freestyle in the Sims 2, though.
Matteo and Gastón both love to build houses, but playing with households? Nah, not as much. So they just build and build, then they're done. They like the Sims 4 the most though, as they can release their creations in the gallery for others to have use of.
Emilia we don't even wanna talk about what she does when playing... just saying, when whatever Sims game she plays, she loves the woohoo option... yeah, all her sims are sl*ts
The other SL characters don't really play the Sims.

Ninjago:
I dislike Season 12. It just repeats the plotline of Season 6, basically. Having two Jay focused seasons by getting rid of everyone else one after another makes it seem like Jay can only shine when everyone else is gone, and he is the only one treated that way. Season 6 did him being on his own a whole lot better.
Little Nightmares:
I heavily dislike the idea of looking at Mono being destined to become the Thin Man in a timr loop and also applying that to Six. Six might become something similar TO the Lady, but I heavily dislike retroactively deciding she needs to become the adult she fights against. It seems more like a theory to get more shipping out of the pairing to me, so I really dislike it
Bendy and the Ink Machine/Bendy and the Dark Revival:
I heavily dislike the direction they went with in Dark Revival. As funny as Joey Drew basically writing his revenge porn in which he tortures fictional versions of people he knew is, I hate how they made everyone fictional instead of going with the previously stated fact he used his employees souls. It makes the previous 'who is Boris?' debate pointless because even though Buddy is apparently him, it's a fictional version anyway. And the game tries its hardest for us to believe the word of a liar.
(Also the cycle breakers thing. Isn't interrupting the progress of The End playing over and over again breaking the cycle? Or am I just dumb?)
FNaF:
CC dies before Elizabeth and doesn't watch her die. It's impossible timeline wise for Elizabeth to die first since CC died at Fredbear's Dinner and Circus Baby opened after the closing of Freddy's. Not Fredbear's.
I actually enjoyed parts of Fazbear Frights. It would have been better to have most of them in different universes from each other, though. Have some about Afton testing on children through projects, for example. Fazgoo just exists for no reason. Why couldn't you have him test on kids?? Or have the story with the Ella doll because it got infected by Henry's grief. So yeah, having pretty much all FF stories playing in the same universe was a mistake.
The only lore stuff I 100% believe the books make clear is names and dates. So, to me, Charlie dying at 3 years old and the children getting murdered in 1985 (mentioned twice in different books) makes the most sense. Everything else I'm sceptic on.

Current Activities in Sims 4 #7
My #6 post was almost quaint. Very little in terms of varied CC/Clothing. Looks like it was probably sub-90 hour, of which I’m now approaching 400. I just wanted to do a breakdown of my current world. With a few notes. Some of these are more played than others, sometimes I just whipped up old archetypes just to have them wandering around in the world. Results are mixed. Read break to follow because lots of images.
First up on my “Barely Played”, Nala Asanti.

Witch. I used to play her a lot more during my previous mood burst of this game. I had a more spellcaster-y outfit for her but some things modmakers don’t understand is now natural lighting works. The design of that link looks great but it also looks very plastic. It’s completely devoid of any wrinkling, and it looks EXACTLY like those screenshots in-game regardless of light level. It’s well designed and straight out of something from Fable, not Sims. When I played her last I just ended up using the multiply spell and got her incredibly rich off of floral arrangements, spawned a cool cottage for her and was basically done with her at that point. She was essentially the reason I don’t make any spellcaster occult anymore. They make the game just a tad too trivial for my liking. And that’s speaking as someone who very often cheats the “forever full” trait because I got real fuckin’ tired of my sims taking 4 in-game hours making and eating a grilled cheese sandwich because they can’t find the table and chairs next to them. The next duo is the two I started my newest spree with.
Aniko and BD-A5.

Sort of a DedSec analog with my hacker girl that spends most of her time playing video games and hacking corporations. Sadly my Stream-Without-Career mod broke when I got a game overlay mod that replaces the vanilla stuff with real world games like GTA and Cyberpunk.
I used to have a trio of three girls that just streamed games all day and made some pretty damn fine money doing that. This duo is sort of the “calm” version of that, though I do want to try that again. Given that that one CC broke I’ll probably need all three of them back in the career. Shame. BD is also the recipient of a cool pack of android traits I found so in theory she shouldn’t really be experiencing many needs or emotions. Due to the android nature of her I also have like two others implanted in other households (and I also think there’s one floating in the world because of an accidental duplication). It’s fine, entirely reasonable that there’d be a few of them. Next, one of my favorites; Anna Rodgriguez.

She’s one of my first forays into exploring the “paranoid” trait. It’s not a very powerful moodlet on its own. Introduced in Strangerville, basically all of the conspiracy theorist townies have it. Anna herself is in the military and uses that inside knowledge for her media production, a lot of her video titles are like “How to Blend in Crowds” and “How to spot Security Cameras”. Honestly Aniko and her probably belong in the same household. Anna is also incredibly rich. Loading her up, her household has 370,000$. I know she makes a very good chunk of change from media revenue but I didn’t remember it getting that high. I like to think she uses that money for all the best technology to keep her identity hidden and location secret from the very people she works for. I am also thinking of a short story to write about her on Royal Road. Will work on that... eventually. These next two don’t live together but they’re basically the same archetype. Different neighboorhoods, different aesthetics. Basically the second girl is mostly me testing out a variety of clothing CC. The first one is Katrina Kalhille.

And the following is Ami “The Shadow”.

They’re both fairly high-class thieves and I think I gave them both the same traits, maybe with one or two differences (I have a mod that allows my sims to have up to 5). Katrina I believe, is more serious about her work. She has the “robber” job, another CC that doesn’t really elaborate in the blurb about what your sim is doing. It’s a fairly high payout but you only work one day a week in the later promotions. Ami is the “bank robber”, and I don’t know how that payout is yet because Ami is my newest character. I hope it functions similarly to Robber in the sense of high payout/low hour workweek, because I gave her a basement and I hope to explore the drug mod with her as well. My next character, some may find familiar in the strange event I have any long-time viewers. Kiur Kenneth, born from WoW and I’d later import her across a multitude of MMO’s and games to roleplay her in their respective universes.

She’s loaded with all of the traits that should, in theory, swing her moods around like you wouldn’t believe. ADHD - Trouble controlling her impulses. I’m not sure how that translates in gameplay. Unpredictable - Builds relationships faster when playful, slower when focused. Witty - big on +funny radial, and build charisma and comedy faster. Crazy - This has the Harley Quinn icon attached so it gives her powerful flirty moodlets. Erratic - Unpredictable emotions and can talk to themselves to build their social up. Very on-brand for her. She also lives with some Lilith Vatore I made up but I don’t know what her deal is yet. Kiur is more important. This is Livia Avencii.

After owning but not playing the werewolves pack for months, I finally made one to play with its mechanics. I actually very much enjoy it, and how self-sufficient they can truly become. I am actually considering remaking my old nudist archetype as a werewolf. They can fulfull their needs anywhere with 3-4 perks available within the first two tiers of being a werewolf. The only ones they can’t is their Fun and Social. Everything else is done by pissing on the street, licking your arms for a “shower”, taking a nap anywhere, or running off to hunt for raw meat. It did lead to a funny moment where I pissed in some grass and my active girl immediately started doing pushups in her own leavings. I have her living in a rundown, practically destroyed house with only part of a roof. It lends to her story well (which I do have written and available to read on Royal Road)  Per her story she’s escaping her old life and father and basically just lives off the grid like a witness protection recipient. Really, I just like how they can treat their needs in any location but in a more balanced way than spellcasters who can just drink a potion and fill their needs instantly. This next character is my second newest behind “The Shadow”. Gabriela Bennet.

Basically directly inspired and made right after Livia above. She’s my clubber, who spends her days off and away at nightclubs (with the aspiration to match). Her look was also ripped directly off of Pinterest, and in fact is hosted right here on Tumblr. I couldn’t quite get her exactly like what is shown for a few reasons. Different skinpacks, I don’t have the posing mod, and for the life of me I spent ten minutes on her lips but I could not match what is shown in that link. I like her a lot though. Anyway that’s what I’ve been up to for the last week.

Chapter 16: Spear Through The Heart
Ouka has a surprisingly philosophical email. She asks what is power? Power is influence and control...which is exactly what the admins have over her and her friends. Even though Ouka plays to test her strength, she doesn't want to play a game without her friends. She's ready to fight.
In present day (PRESENT TIME), Kamui demands the key. It's a cheat item and so therefore...ILLEGAL. Kaz's response?

He loves The World but he hates the CC. Now pissed, Kamui says she'll suspend his account. Kaz says "Try me, bitch." Kamui orders the knights to seize him. Kaz holds them off while telling the group to flee. One guy sneaks him from the back...but Ouka got his back. The knights are scared but Kamui is just furious, telling Ouka she'll delete her like a dog. Ouka says she's not a dog...she's a wolf.

Wolves don't obey dogs. She and Kaz proceed to fight the knights as Kaz asks her out to McDonald's. Eh, I've seen worse ships.
While Ouka accepts, she wonders how long they can hold off forces with admin privileges. Kaz confidently says that while they have "her" protection, they got nothing to fear. Indeed, Kamui can't delete any of their data for whatever reason. The reason is revealed to be because CC is indeed actively blocking her deletions. Shugo and Rena's characters are their property but that event that gave Shugo the bracelet? The company didn't create it. CC refuses to give Kamui anymore information, just ordering her to get Shugo.
Magi, still in full on simp mode, does an attack that stuns Kaz and Ouka before telling Kamui to go after the twins, saying she trusts in Kamui's sense of justice. Kamui escapes to track them as Magi smugly holds off Kaz and Ouka, saying that they will not interfere with her "mistress" (those are the scanlation's exact words.)

Back to the gang! They're ready to use the key to get to the Slums. Kamui nearly skewers Shugo to stop them though. She's ready to "kill" them if it means stopping them but Shugo fights her off, calling her a sheep for working for a game company. Kamui fucks him up quickly though, pointing out she takes her job seriously and won't stop until all bugs and threats to the game are deleted.
Hotaru says "fuck that" and steps in front to shield her friends. She literally explains that the AI in the game is sapient and killing them is insanely dickish, regardless of duty. Hotaru explains that this game taught her Japanese and she made friends from all over the world in this game, one even telling her that everyone here wants to protect the World to keep it beautiful. Kamui seems shaken but simply reiterates this is her duty, rearing to attack the group again.
Mr. Grunty's stomach growls, throwing off the whole mood. Zafie then summons food to feed him with...pissing off Kamui, who wants to kill Zafie for violating the rules again. However, all that food turns Mr. Grunty into LONGHORN:

Oh and he can talk now, telling Hotaru to get on his back. Kamui says that Grunty isn't one of the official classes and such a beast can destabilize the whole system! It's then she has a flashback, remembering someone retiring and leaving the protection of the world in her hands...she lashes out to strike at Zafie with Shugo failing to shield her...only for Zafie to shield herself with a random barrier (why is anyone protecting her again?).
The chapter ends with Shugo and Zafie ready to have a private chat with Kamui...
THOUGHTS
I never thought Hotaru could be saved but hey, hyperempathy can be a useful trait if anyone cares enough to use it correctly. I do feel like Zafie is getting a bit overpowered though...she's robbing all the tension out of the story with her godlike powers. Still looking forward to the next chapter though. Need to know who that guy is...

1/2 Hi! What's your opinion about Aerith's resolution scene? It feels like most of fans are more interested in convenient interpretations to confirm/discard the CA ship, without really wondering, from a narrative standpoint, "why", of all the things Aerith could warn Cloud against, she touches the romantic subject? And so early in the story too. Romance in FF7 is often treated by fans as a standalone thing more than something that is interweaved with the main story and has a role within it.
2/2 Should we now re-evaluate the weight of CA relationship in the OG? I never felt like Cloud had more than a crush on her or her death broke him. But when a compilation expands in such a relistic way, the main story needs to be retroactively reinterpreted (like what happened with CC). I'm also wondering what significance we should give to the black floating feathers in this scene (the most visible one appearing when Aerith prays – hard not to think about Sephiroth). Anywho, it’s quite the subject isn’t it? I often speak on how sometimes the foundation of a fan’s understanding of the Remake is grounded by their understanding of the OG. Which does make sense and have its merit, but it can also lead to a lot of biased views if there isn’t a consideration of the Remake’s way of storytelling. That’s why we have less of a reasonable spectrum of thought, and more of these black and white interpretations you mentioned floating around. I’ve seen a lot of “Aerith is telling us a fact: Cloud’s feelings aren’t real!” vs. “Cloud confessed to Aerith that he’d fall in love with her!”.
It doesn’t take much time to realize who is saying what.
The first example is talking about something that hasn’t happened yet (e.g. Cloud confirming Aerith’s words), and the second example is talking about something that, by the scene itself, just didn’t happen anyway. From a narrative standpoint and with an understanding of the story of FF7, this part of Aerith’s Resolution reflects two points: Cloud’s false memories/self and Cloud’s feelings for Aerith—more directly, the premise that if Cloud falls in love with Aerith, his feelings won’t be real due to the state of being he’s in. Additionally, this resolution essentially acts as a reflection of Aerith’s GS Date but with twists—the first being that her thoughts on Cloud’s falsity is not tied to the correlation of his similarities to Zack, and the second being that it adds a dash of something more reminiscent of the dream/forest scene (if anything, the Resolution is almost an applicable replacement of it in general). Death, cherishing time left and memories, and Cloud not being completely himself—there’s a lot of foreshadowing here.
This is where people typically use their takes on the OG to formulate a conclusion for Aerith’s premise, as you’ve seen above, with even some extending alternates. For example, that the real reason Cloud’s feelings wouldn’t be real because he’s really in love with Tifa already and is incapable of feeling anything for anyone else as he is.
But my take?
To be upfront, this scene sets up the idea that Aerith is wrong in regards to the romantic storytelling between the two of them. That yes, his feelings (in this case, that of “suki” [すき, romantic like/love when used for a person]) are going to be real despite the state he’s in. Not to mention, it isn’t an “if” he has romantic feelings, because it goes against all reason and understanding of anything else in this scene to suggest this premise was written for the sake of something that won’t happen or won’t be addressed. Even if she is right, this is only effective writing if yes, Cloud indeed falls for her and thought those feelings were real, and thus, finds out that he truly doesn’t feel that way once he regains his true self. There’d be no point to this line if he doesn’t feel this, otherwise for the sake of writing, it would’ve made more sense for her to suggest that what she just talked about (the memories/moments/happiness shared) were going to be what wasn’t real, specifically.
Until further information tells me otherwise, I believe Aerith is going to be wrong because of how the OG and relevant material presents what Cloud retains once he regains himself.
Let’s get into it.
Unlike the OG, Aerith is presenting the falsity of Cloud not through her own feelings, but that of HIS. She’s not assuming that the mantra of “embracing the moments” is something that Cloud won’t retain—it’s just the romantic feelings that will grow from them. We don’t have to worry about whether what Cloud retains from these moments and memories of Aerith are false. Why? Because that was completely fine in the OG. The moments, memories, and the bond they shared were all real to Cloud after he regains himself. And obviously, not just with Aerith, but with all his companions. If he didn’t retain what he gained while Aerith was alive, he just simply wouldn’t have any reason to value Aerith, it’d almost be like he doesn’t know her existentially at all. But that isn’t the case. Really, what he gained with his companions was never put to the test of falsehood in the first place.
But the romance? So specifically?
The “why” of everything that is said in this scene is done for some narrative purpose, representing future events and themes to be further implemented down the line. In a literal conversation about romantic feelings to be confirmed or denied story-wise—this is romantic storytelling, and whether you like it or not, it has been issued between the two characters. And of course, I believe it should make someone re-evaluate their understanding of the OG—not in the way where the story itself begets change (like that of the effect with CC, as you mentioned), but more so in realizing that the Remake is just a more expressive reflection of the romantic storytelling that was already in the OG. The writing and approach of the Remake is different than that of the OG, as we can even see between the expressions and details expanded on, like say for Cloud and Tifa’s bond and what that alludes to later down the line as well. This same thing is done for Cloud and Aerith, and what may not have been as openly expressed, is now done so too.
In the OG, the romantic storytelling between Cloud and Aerith played on the typical RPG standard of player-story interactive choice, but was contained in that by not having the story clearly address those choices through Cloud’s character after he regains himself. That and all relative materials like interviews or guidebooks relative to the OG—we only have a few direct romanticisms and some that can be argued as indirect given context. It’s not absent, but it’s unclear to the point it’s a discussion people still have 20+ years later. Also, by those possibly confused, player choice does not eliminate this through character representation—I’ll digress as it’s a whole other thing.
Cloud’s time with Aerith isn’t a mystery—we see everything between them and experience it as the player. We know what did or didn’t happen, what could be expressed, and what we’re left with in regards to romanticism is more of an unaddressed, almost irrelevant idea. What’s represented openly instead is everything else about their important bond, basically. Romanticism—it’s all in the air, not invalidated, but also not further represented for the character in the things referenced afterwards, like Cloud mentioning his memories of her, wanting to see her in death [Promised Land], Aerith being a friend, comrade, irreplaceable, etc. His time spent with Aerith was still something Cloud kept with him.
So, if the question for the OG is: did Cloud retain any romanticism for Aerith as a cherished feeling/memory, too?
I believe by right of the storytelling values presented in the game, that yes, he did. While the game and other materials make no attempt at trying to elaborate on Cloud’s favor towards Aerith, they also don’t negate it in void either from his character. A general good rule of thumb: usually when you have romantic meaning issued between two characters, whether through parallels, symbolism, other characters, the characters themselves, etc.—if it’s something that isn’t confirmed (e.g. confessions or explicit showing of romantic interest) OR isn’t countered or denied significantly (obviously not including the typical false denial by a character), then typically, you go with the positive-end that the representation there does indeed confirm that romanticism.
Think about it like this: remember that show you watched where the two lead characters had romantic subtext, but the show ends without them getting together? Yeah. If you’re at the point of claiming romantic subtext, you’re not doing so for the sake of saying the authorial intent is to show non-romance, but to show romanticism in a subtle way. There are a myriad of writers who have this style, and getting a direct confirmation or explicit showing of romance isn’t always in the cards for how that storytelling is going to be expressed. But, that hardly erases what is still intended to be understood.
The thing about Cloud and Aerith, the romanticism that can be understood from Cloud IS indeed never confirmed, not like how it was for Tifa. Which, I do advocate this actually does showcase how his romantic feelings for Tifa have a further depth than of that for Aerith given the lack of relevancy in comparison. However, his feelings for Tifa don’t negate what he felt for Aerith in totality, not to the point of being evidence of absence. The OG and further materials paint the picture that, after Aerith’s death, Cloud still remembers and cherishes her as a comrade—the memories, the moments. All of it. What’s understood is that everything that Aerith was to Cloud was carried over and fueled his reason to want to see her even in death—if romanticism was a part of those memories, those moments, no matter how small in the grand scheme of their connection, we can’t cherry pick it out of existence just because it doesn’t take expressive priority. From the game itself, I would use the “positive-end” method to understand that the romanticism there IS a part of the character, and if I include representations from other media or interviews, the authorial intention becomes much more clear.
As for the depth of these feelings? Again, Cloud’s time with Aerith isn’t a mystery. Whatever happens during that part of the game IS the depth of the feelings. I won’t identify it as a “crush”, but I just know it wasn’t deep enough to cause conflict in his relationship with Tifa because rationally (and by general storytelling standard), it would if so.
In any case, without a specific negative address of that romanticism, we can’t reasonably split apart what Cloud felt for Aerith from everything else he retained from his time spent with her.
And that’s what the Remake is basically addressing, pretty directly this time. I feel that way about a lot of things, and I absolutely believe the story is better off with it as we’re reaching more avenues for telling the FF7 story and development. What we’re getting here is something more direct and expressive than the OG, as I believe we will for most things, like we already have with Cloud and Tifa, Tifa and Aerith, and even Zack and Aerith. It’s doing much more. One could say that it might be making more of the romance than it was in the OG, but to me, I believe it’s about the same. The subject matter being brought up directly won’t change that on its own, but it’s curious that it was brought up this way.
So, if the OG didn’t represent the meaning of Aerith being right, that anything of which Cloud has for Aerith was made to be false after he gained his true self, then I don’t believe the Remake has a reason for doing it either. This is reinforced by the fact that Aerith being right just isn’t congruent with a lot of the other themes happening in the story there. It makes no sense to pinpoint the romantic feelings specifically as something Cloud didn’t feel—and again, his feelings for Tifa shouldn’t be it. How they decide to show the “answer” is up for thought as writers, as discussed, will find many ways to give meaning from their story. If the writing is consistent, what some CA fans expect won’t be what they will get, but CT fans acting like the meaning from the resolution won’t pop up ever again are already missing the point, too.
There are other interesting things though, like Aerith’s thoughts on death and this lifestyle point of view—how this connects to her hatred of the sky and those she has lost will be an interesting point for her character. Maybe even the anticipated arc of her time in death within the Lifestream and reuniting with Zack. We might finally get solid context for that. As for the black/dark feathers, I’m not sure if it even is, but it would certainly match the motif, like at the very beginning when Cloud is in the reactor. It flying by like that could simply be part of the reference to her death.

Alright, so here it goes the inevitable blog update post for whoever is wondering what is going on. TL/DR: I am working on stories. No Premier dates.
On Hiatus
Ccfavs is on hiatus because when I started it I was on an old windows laptop and a lot of cc couldn't handle laptop mode, so I was testing it under the most strenuous conditions. Now I have a gaming laptop and it can handle a lot more, so I can't be sure the cc lives up to the same standards and it doesn't feel right posting under that tag. I may bring back play tested cc on a side blog in the future, but I am in story mode so that's an in the future project.

Halcyon Days is on indefinite hiatus because I just cannot with those characters (except Rusty). I am going to write an overview post of the highlights you need to know to understand what is happening in Starfall Gen 2. The two stories have always been tied together so I feel bad that I'm not finishing it properly, but we'll never get to Gen 2 if I don't skip it.

If the Stars Align The first half of Starfall Gen 2 is a crossover and is probably a bit ambitious. The story will mainly follow Orion Royale and Drift Kingfisher (North and Snowdrop's son), but it's a bit of an ensemble cast so they aren't going to be the only characters.

Rainbow Connections RC is the result of a vanilla AU save where ORusty made better choices and got to live happily ever after. It is a rotation play following the adult Rainer-Blanc kids as they navigate life and relationships. Ya'll should recognize the kids from Wish Upon a Rainbow. It’s set in the same world just Vanilla, so they’re still Mythamie (Elves/Fae).

AHIT Continuation Thoughts
I’ve seen some posts around talking about wanting a sequel to A Hat In Time, but after thinking about it for a while, I’ve realized no one is actually talking about what they want to SEE in a sequel game.
Sequels are hard to get right. It’s hard for a gaming team/company to recapture the charm of the original games and they often end up falling flat when they come out. Not to mention writing a compelling/interesting narrative that wouldn’t clash with what fans already know about the game tends to be a lot harder than people would think.
If (IF!) Gears for Breakfast DID make a second AHIT game, I’m not sure how well it would do.
BUT!
A Hat In Time DOES have some advantages over other games that are loved enough for people to want sequels. Those advantages being:
The story itself is very loose, meaning there are no die-hard rules about how it needs to/can go.
The overarching story/goal was simple and straight forward, and not restrictive to the player. (Find the lost timepieces to power your ship so you can get home. Very simple!)
Each level/area of the game is small, but it’s obvious that there’s a much larger world that can be connected to them.
There are even some places where you can SEE areas that could be used to expand the level/area while either keeping the original location or even adding a whole new one!
The game isn’t over-saturated with characters that you’d need to account for and keep track of.
Every chapter has 1-2 characters who are central to the chapter, but that also means that there aren’t so many of them that you’d lose track of them all.
The problem (in my eyes) is that the main story for A Hat In Time is already perfectly wrapped up. It doesn’t really have lingering questions we need to be answered, or any goals that Hat Kid didn’t already see to the end.
Hat Kid has reclaimed her Time Pieces, she’s helped the people of the world she has ended up on and left to finally go home.
That’s the end of it.
(Not counting the DLC, since that’s not part of the main story and it can be played BEFORE the actual end of the game.)
[I’m putting the rest under a ‘Read More’ because this got kinda long. Also, there’s a reference to the very end of the game, but considering you’re reading a thing about sequels, you probably already know about it.]
And the reason I’m not too crazy about the idea of a DIRECT sequel is because of the choice we (the player) made at the end of the game. And that was whether or not to drop a single Time Piece to help Mustache Girl.
The game devs would have to make an assumption/decision that would change which action would be “canon” to the series and also open up the idea of “multiple timelines” that could get messy to keep track of. (But also make it possible to have more than one sequel game that could be Canon.)
I can see a couple of possible follow up games, depending on who you follow and what game details you factor in.
The Sequel Focused Games
Two of my ideas could follow Hat kid after leaving ‘Earth’ to return home. (Which means we probably won’t be seeing the characters from the original game.)
One could be based on the timeline where HK dropped the timepiece for Mustache Girl and her ship runs out of fuel, standing her on another world while she searches for an alternative power source to get the rest of the way home. And her possibly discovering a hidden cache of Timepieces and building a story around that.
That would be interesting since it would allow for a whole new world to explore and new characters for us to meet while also letting us keep the gameplay we’re already familiar with. It would also let us have a similar story/goal without things being changes up too much. (And each new chapter would have their own new stories, of course.)
The drawbacks to this version are that some people might not enjoy the new areas and feel like it’s just AHIT with new levels as opposed to a new game.
The second idea could either follow the timeline where HK DIDN’T drop the timepiece for MG or it could be the THIRD game in the series. (I’d say it would be best to leave it ambiguous, so anyone could pick it up and play without someone going “You have to play [blank] first before you can REALLY enjoy it!”)
It would be the one where HK would finally get home and mark herself down as finishing whatever mission she had left her world to complete.
Just like the other game, it would let the devs make a new world and characters for us to explore and it would give us the chance to explore the kind of world Hat Kid came from. BUT! It could also let them revive some of the cut content that they hadn’t been able to use before. (Like Tim the CEO of Time!)
But, as I’ve already said, for both of these story/game ideas we wouldn’t be seeing the characters we know from the original game. I know some people won’t be happy about that, but it’s something that would/could happen.
A completely different route would be making a game that focuses on the residents left on ‘Earth’!
Personally, I can see them doing it like the Sonic Adventure games or Sonic Heros. Instead of making a new character to play the ‘hero’, they have a selection of characters we already know that we can choose from. And each of the characters have different stories/levels to play through, all geared towards their various skills/powers.
I love the idea of being able to play through a story/game that focused on Snatcher and using his various powers to complete levels. Or playing as the Conductor and making use of his train or engine skills. Or as Mustache Girl and fighting epic bosses and bad guys. Something like that would be awesome! And a great way to explore their stories/characters from a different view than we would normally have.
Admittedly, Co-op play might be a bit harder to put into a game like that. Unless you found a reasonable way to group everyone into pairs and put in a tag out feature. Although it would be interesting to see how something like that could be incorporated into the story.
(For the pairs, I can see;
Conductor and Grooves being teamed together [maybe learning to get along could be part of their story?]
Mustache Girl and either Cooking Cat or Mafia Boss. [I’m leaning towards CC, just because I’d love to see her character be expanded on.]
I’m vetoing Snatcher and Vanessa being teamed up though! That’s would be a recipe for disaster. [Maybe pair him with a cut character? Like Moonjumper? Just a thought.] )
Prequel Game Ideas
Another approach could be making a PREQUEL game instead.
Again, it would be divided based on who you wanted to follow for the game. Either Hat Kid, or the residents of ‘Earth’.
I think these prequels wouldn’t have as many levels as the original game but might be fun to use to explore how everyone got to where they were when HK arrived.
If we followed Hat Kid, maybe it would be about how she got her ship and why she was off in space in the first place. What tests she had to pass, the challenges, and maybe even if she was actually SUPPOSED to be in space or if she took off to explore without telling anyone.
I’m not so sure about everyone on ‘Earth’ but maybe have someone who’s exploring the world be the main character?
For this one, I can see them bringing back a cut character to act as the one wander through the world. Maybe the Shapeshifter could be the player character? That would be interesting, playing as a character who’s power was shapeshifting!
(They could even their form change depending on where they actually were in the game!
Like an Owl when on the Express, or a Penguin when around Grooves, or a Person when on Mafia Island. [Maybe even before it was Mafia Island?]
The only place I can think of where they wouldn’t change would be Subcon, but that’s more because I think Snatcher has an exact count of the number of minions there and would IMMEDIATELY know when there was one more than there should be.)
Anyways, those are my ideas of what Gears for Breakfast could do if they wanted to make some new AHIT games.

Final Fantasy VII Legacy || Prequel Crisis

There comes a time when the creator realizes they unduly limited themselves by arbitrarily declaring their story is complete. I decided to break my short silence to achieve something closer to my original intent, to scratch an itch that was bothering me. Prequels are always unnecessary (and by the same logic sequels). Even the great Star Wars had to shoehorn episode numbers in later. (To Lucas’ credit, it was added almost 20 years before he would actually make prequels, but still.) But just because something is unnecessary doesn’t mean it can’t be good. It just usually isn’t. Prequels hold even more weight than a sequel because they are narratively bound by their inevitable conclusion, that moment where they meet their origin point, and it would be unsatisfying if it didn’t meet that obligation. Normally, all prequels end where the original begins. But this is Nomura we are talking about. My last article, chronologically, became more of a dumping ground for my feelings on the creator of much of the expanded Final Fantasy VII universe, Tetsuya Nomura. This time we are diving into a game that he technically only worked on from afar, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. This game alters one of the most integral moments of FF7 so profoundly that I am surprised it hasn’t become a greater point of contention. Let me talk to you about the time Zack met Aerith.

There are two ways I imagine they handled Zack and Aerith’s first meeting during the story writing process. Either they were deciding to do it as an homage to the original, wherein Cloud falls through the church roof right onto the flowers Aerith tends to. Or, they wanted to unearth the very foundation of the will-they-won’t-they love story Cloud and Aerith were seemingly meant to be. First, let's examine the nexus point in both games, Aerith. In the original she could be described as mature, sure-footed, and down to earth. In CC, she is much less of all of those things. She's a little more timid, scared of leaving her sector, and way less sure of herself in general. Honestly, this is a good narrative start, we get to see her arc into the person she will become when Cloud meets her, but there was something more sinister at work here. Something they may have even done unknowingly, depending on your point of view. Put a pin in that for the moment because now we can introduce the cause of contention. Now we get to Zack.

To talk about Zack we actually have to investigate the construction of the entire FF7 world. First, Zack is a man of boundless optimism who brightens anyone’s day. Not coincidentally, he and Cloud have a very similar background, both growing up in “the sticks”, the middle of nowhere. And here is where we find a whole new layer to the FFVII universe. The original game has you focused on the pursuit of your goal, which is exactly how all FF’s were built prior to it, but with the sixth entry, world building started to become more important. The character’s lives are always intertwined with the very fabric of their world. This is why Midgar becomes so important to the original because it tells you everything you need to know about the universe in the first hours of the game. CC expanded this idea by sourcing the game in the very same place and having you travel out to jobs, collect information, and return to homebase. In fact, you learn much less about Midgar than you do the rest of the world. In this way, Zack becomes the explorer that Cloud never had the time to be. But in tying both of them to similar origins, Zack also ends up telling you about Cloud’s life. Zack and Cloud are big dreamers from small towns who move to the big city that ends up taking advantage of both of them in the exact same way. They both become pincushions and test dummies. They both fall for the same girl. But the key difference between them is that Zack met Aerith first. Zack had a life changing effect on Aerith that Cloud never really understands. And now, we are at the heart of the problem.
Let me frame my perception of the original Aerith meeting. First of all, Cloud meets Aerith as a flower girl in the aftermath of his very first eco-mission with Avalanche. It was quite the little meet-cute. Boy meets girl, helps girl up, buys girl’s flower, she teases him, they part ways. This is actually important to remember for later, follow me though. On his second eco-mission, an accident sends him flying from the upper-deck, luckily falling on the very bed of flowers Aerith tends to. At this point, she makes sure he has a pulse, then carries on with her work while he gets his stuff together. Cloud puffs his chest and they have a cute little back and forth, cultivating in becoming her bodyguard and escorting her home. During this time, he gets to know her a little better, and she seems playful, insightful, and a little wistful. After some time, she confides in Cloud that she had a boyfriend, he was also in SOLDIER, but he died. This scenario had me believing that Aerith was a girl, somewhat experienced in love, and was building the courage to move on. You get the sense that Aerith can’t help but recognize some minor similarities, though she may have some reservations about Cloud because he is also in SOLDIER, she can’t help but see how helpless he is without her. For a long time in the game, her ex-boyfriend was nameless. Zack was just an idea. But Crisis Core made Zack the progenitor of almost everything that would come to pass in FF7 (seriously, EVERYTHING), and in doing so, it also fundamentally changed the perception of the Tifa-Aerith-Cloud love triangle.

Now let’s rewind all the way back to Zack meeting Aerith in Crisis Core. In a mission at the same reactor Cloud would one day have his fateful accident, Zack meets a similar fate. Everything about the scenarios with Aerith between either Zack or Cloud is alarmingly similar. And it's the similarity that is the problem. Before CC, Cloud and Aerith’s meeting was original and unique. But having Zack meet her in the same exact way before Cloud makes it seem a little cheap. Remember how Cloud’s initial meeting with Aerith results in him buying a flower? This also was hijacked by CC, because it is Zack who gives Aerith the idea to sell flowers to begin with. In CC, Aerith loves her flowers, and she wishes Midgar had more, so Zack tells her to sell them and even rushes off to build her a cart to sell them with. Now Zack not only hijacked one of the most iconic story moments in FF7, he also is the whole reason that it worked to begin with. Without his idea to sell flowers, she never would have met Cloud before the moment he fell through the church to begin with. 
CC pushes our conception of the original narrative even further by having Aerith’s story arc involve her becoming the playful, assertive version of herself. She is confronted with Zach’s boundless optimism and is forever changed by it. We always knew Aerith had a dead boyfriend who was part of SOLDIER, but we never get a good sense of the depth of their relationship or a good idea of what it means to be a part of this company sponsored military. CC lays the groundwork for all of this, but most importantly it lays down a timeline. Aerith and Zack meet, spend somewhere between a couple weeks and 6 months getting to know one another. One day, Zack says he has to go on a mission, an important one, and he doesn’t know when he will be coming back. Aerith asks if it's alright to call him (cellphones) or write to him (email and snail mail?), and she does, but after a while Zack is unable to answer. This is because he would spend the next 2 years in the lab underneath the Nibelheim’s mansion with Cloud, undergoing experiments mastermind by Hojo.

So how did they get there? We have to take a quick walk through the narrative of the other main characters. Throughout the game, the highest members of SOLDIER begin slowly going rogue. I won’t go into explaining much about these characters, but suffice it to say, there are 4 including Zack. First, there was Genesis, a red leather-clad mini-sephiroth, who begins the game MIA, and is later announced dead, despite actually having gone rogue. Shinra knows this, but puts out bulletins through their sponsored media saying he was KIA. At the heart of all this, it should be remembered that Shinra is both a company AND a government. The original hints at the obvious collusion, but leaves it very matter-of-fact. Next, Zack’s mentor Angeal (that is his name), is MIA and then KIA, leaving him the very unique buster sword that Cloud will carry throughout FF7. It turns out Angeal’s family had that sword specially made for him when he joined SOLDIER. It almost bankrupted them. And then, finally, the great Sephiroth follows in turn, MIA turned KIA.

The story jumps ahead a few weeks or months, and now Zack is the most elite member of SOLDIER, carrying Angeal’s buster sword as his own. All this time, he has been running small missions and returning home to spend time with Aerith, a little less optimistic than before, but Aerith tries to help him through it. Then, because of his close ties to the former members of SOLDIER, Shinra sends him away to deal with his former senior members, previously reported as KIA. In the back of Zack’s mind, he has a feeling that this is going to be a sucide mission, that he will deal with his old friends, and Shinra will in turn deal with him. But he longs to know more about why any of this is happening, and follows orders. In a flashback in FF7, we see the moment Cloud confronts Sephiroth for the first time. He is just a regular Shinra grunt, but seeing his childhood friend Tifa laid out in the Nibelheim reactor next to her dead father, Cloud picks up Sephiroth’s discarded blade and goes in for an attack. It turns out that the “real” story was that, before all of this, Zack does battle with Sephiroth, and narrowly loses the fight. The weakened Sephiroth ambles toward his “mother” Jenova in her test tube, crosses over Zack’s beaten body, and knocks away Tifa. Now enters Cloud. Zack tells Cloud to pick up his buster sword and take a shot. Zack and Sephiroth are Mako infused super soldiers, so the battle is stacked against Cloud. Still, regular human Cloud gathers his courage and lunges at Sephiroth, misses, and in turn gets impaled by Sephiroth’s blade. The impaled Cloud finds some inner strength, pushes himself further down the blade, lifts up the stunned and weekend Sephiroth, turns, and sends him falling deep into the reactor, presumably to his death. 
Cloud and Tifa have now passed out, but Zack is still holding on. He is unable to move and just as he is about to pass out, Hojo and a team of scientists show up. Hojo had been watching the whole time, waiting for a conclusion. Hojo expected good work from Zack, but he never expected the SOLDIER reject Cloud to be the one to make the final blow. He decides that Cloud is worth experimenting on and puts both Cloud and Zack into a Mako Reactor tube that makes men into SOLDIER members. It never directly states it, but I believe the purpose of the project was to transfer all of Zack’s abilities into Cloud, and some residual memories of Zack’s life came with it. It turns out, being infused with Mako significantly shortens your lifespan, so taking your best and most loyal SOLDIER’s abilities and passing them on to a new host would be a boon. No need to train them. They would end up spending two years in stasis, all the while Aerith continues to write and call, despite surely hearing in the local news that Zack has been KIA. In that time, the village that Sephiroth burned down has been completely restored and the memories of everyone in town have been erased. The only one who got away before this memory wipe is Tifa. To be clear, I don’t recall if it states that they wiped their memory, but it tracks a little better than the alternative, wherein the townspeople just act like it didn’t happen because they are scared of Shinra.

Now we can begin to compile this. The incredible thing about Zack, despite everything he knows, he remains a company loyalist until the very end. It may be because being on the inside is better than the outside, but it seems that he believes that the only way to be a hero, his dream, is to work for Shinra, making the world “a better place”. We never see him directly betray the company until it directly betrays him. After waking up, he takes a comatose Cloud out of the facility and makes a mad dash back to Midgar. His new mission is to see Aerith and to confront Shinra. But Shinra can not let that happen because it goes directly against their narrative. The game ends with the famous Zack standoff just outside of Midgar. While Cloud is hidden, Zack is killed by a barrage of bullets at the hands of Shinra. Cloud, finally somewhat coming out of his dream state, finds Zack's bullet ridden body, hears his final words, and heads for Midgar. Now, how much time passes between Zack’s death and when Cloud meets Aerith is a bit of a mystery, but it has to be less than a month. So we can imagine that, based on CC, two things are true. Two things that drastically change the perspective one has when playing FF7. First, even up to the moment that Aerith runs into Cloud after the first bombing, it's likely she was still leaving messages for Zack. And the second thing, the most damning of all, is the moment she met Cloud for the very first time was the moment she realized her boyfriend was dead. Why? Because Cloud is carrying the very same, very unique buster sword Zack carried with him everywhere.

Knowing this, it is reasonable to believe that Aerith isn’t drawn to Cloud out of love, but instead curiosity. She wants to know why he has that sword. And when she finds out that Cloud doesn’t even seem to be aware, it must make him that much more intriguing. In FF7, she never does come out and say this, and she also doesn’t in FF7 Remake, but if CC is going to become cannon, it would mean that she would be very aware of this. But that also means that in reality, there was never a love triangle; Cloud never really stood a chance and Tifa never needed to feel jealous. Now, this whole side story is arguably ignorable. It mostly only exists to suck the life out of FF7 in order to breathe life into its own story. There are lots of tangents to this as well. It's possible that Tseng of the Turks, now remodeled to be much more caring of Aerith than in the original, told her that Zack was indeed killed. Not that Aerith has much reason to believe someone who works so closely with Shinra, but even in FF7, she isn’t so much afraid of the Turks, as she is about being put into confinement at Shinra. She is aware she is always being watched. We always knew Aerith knew too much and said too little. She never really ends up trusting the team enough to divulge what she does know. Or maybe she isn’t sure they will understand. In hindsight, she was probably originally created this way because it made her seem more mysterious. But now, with all this information, it just makes her seem… careless.

The day Zack met Aerith is the day the Final Fantasy 7 universe began to bear too much weight. It can’t handle the pressure of all this information, all these connections, because it was built to look cool, not be functional. It was never meant to be a building block for something more. It would be a lie to say I am not excited to see what is going to happen to them in FF7 Remake 2: The Remakening, but I can’t help but feel that their decision to tie all of the various universe additions into one cannon ultimately hurts the original. If a newcomer were to enter the universe at its origin point, which is what most people do when coming to a new series, by the end, they wouldn’t understand where they started from. Compared to Star Wars, a universe where you can enter during any of its starting points 1, 4, or 7 and complete a circle, the FF7 universe is more of a spiral, never connecting to its origin point. In turn, the more you learn about the FF7 universe, the emptier you feel, because it never completes the circle. It isn’t that it's not interesting or even fun, but it's interesting like a twinkie is cake. It's technically true, it is cake, but it's certainly not satisfying. Let us have our cake Nomura. A real cake. A real end. A complete circle.

P.S. I felt I should mention that this is just my take on the story. I did my best to keep the details straight, but admittedly, I may have missed some of the finer details or misremembered them. I also did a fair amount of reading between the lines when it came to my perception of the characters emotions and motives. But the broad strokes are all there. Zack does become the focal point for everything that comes to pass in FF7. There is also way more information about who and what Sephiroth is in comparison to Genesis, Angeal, Zack, and even Cloud. Still, Zack meets Aerith first and sets both her and Cloud on their paths. Zack is the reason Aerith is always laughing at Cloud, not in jest, but in irony.

Dragon Age & Sims 2
So, while building in twinhills, I listened to Ghil Dirthalen various lore videos, podcasts and codex entries (which are great, so you should subscribe to her channel) and set me in the mood to replay DAO and DAI. This is my new Inquisitor by the way:

I named her Raisa... Yeah, like one of my sims. (Raisa Buckholtz) The qunari/kossith are such an interesting race and I adore their looks. The Iron Bull is one of my favorite charakters in the whole series (but I tend to not romance him, because it kinda scared me, the first time I did so @_@’ Also I’m really into the idea of Bull and Dorian beeing a couple.)
Why am I telling you about this? Well, there is that idea, that has been floating around in my head for some time now: I play a BaCC-MCC-Mix and in a BaCC you can unlock downtown. While playing in a modern setting, this gives you cool nightclubs and various other cool features (not to mention the additional building space). But in a medieval fantasy setting? How would that turn out? I am very much tempted to add a “magical/supernatural downtown” to twinhills at some point (in the far future).
(Edit, after I wrote all this: This post got way longer, than I thought. Hidden the rest to not block your dash with a text wall)
I already saw some impressive CC, which could totally work for a qunari-ish race. (Because I’m not just port them over. That would be too simple.) I also wouldn’t need to add a ton of CC to make it work. Maybe 2-3 skintones, a few outfits (I think, Athletic Girl and Leaner BodyBuilder might be a good shape) and the iconic horns. For eyes and hairstyles I can use the ones, I have already. I installed Meduza’s bending mod some time ago and tested it with great results. I think, the horned people would be great earth benders! As for other DA-races: Elves are covered, but Dwarves? I think, the only adjustment, they would need, is to fiddle with their bodysize in Simpe. Makes some animations weird, but I’m not bothered by that. As you might have guessed by the description of my gods, Oghmor is the deity of the supernatural sims. (At least in my head.) I created him, because of a PT-Mod at PBK (The Deep Ones) and my love for Lovecraft/Bloodborne. I made a PT-mod myself, so alien impregnations will look something like this:

And of course those deep ones are not aliens, but mermaids/sirens/selkies. I thought about blending mermaids and vampires, because I like the parasitic nature, it would add to the deep ones. All those ideas are great and all, but I need a system. Are all supernaturals attached to a deity? Do I even want all those diffrent races? In an unmodded game downtownies do not show up in the mainhood, so I wouldn’t have to block them manually via Visitor Controller. I juggled some of those ideas, because I swore to myself to not touch twinhills gamplay-wise until I caught up posting here. I also started to decorate a new neighbourhood for this purpose, but I’m not satisfied.

How are those supernaturals going to work? Are they playables? Downtownies? How many can I create without overwhelming myself? Should my playables be able to just roam in the supernatural subhood or are there requirements? How open are my sims to supernaturals? Praios is the only god, I designed as anti-supernatural. So far Siofra is the deity revered by most sims in Twinhills and she favours plantsims (fairies). Should I add a sub-hood for every deity and have their respective race roam it? And should I actually create a sim, who at least looks like the deity? Can downtownies of diffrent “origin” roam in other downtowns? Can playables live in supernatural downtown? Do supernaturals also do the class thing (peasants, yeomanry, gentry etc.)? Are some races limited to a social class? (Just like in DA, where elves are usually in a lower class) Do I even want this kind of racial problem in my game? How could I implement that gameplay-wise? Can my playables marry supernaturals? How should I handle supernatural offspring in my mainhood? Maybe I could add a placeholder household to add unwanted supernatural babies? Maybe I should set up a seperate MCC for the downtown to have a slowly progressing, seperate neighborhood? Is this new town a melting pot of diffrent cultures like Kirkwall? Is it a hidden world like in Harry Potter? Questions, questions... Lastly I wanted to touch the issue of crimes, assassins and stuff in my game. I think, it would be great to have a clan of robber-knights. And I would also love to add something like the Dark Brotherhood (of The Elder Scrolls universe) to the game. These households might be a good opportunity to import some kind of other challenge. Maybe not a legacy, but something like the Mafia Challenge or a heavily edited Besieged!-Challenge... like a more story-driven playstyle, which I never really played. (So, that would be a new thing...) I also love the “I saw three ships”-set at MTS, which has a very well written Piracy career. Might be a good opportunity to introduce pirates as well? And should these criminals be part of the supernatural neighborhood? Or should I have one for “criminals/prirates/outlaws” and one for supernatural purpose?
I think right now: I absolutly have to start a new word document and write down my BaCC-MCC-rules for good. The notepads I keep at the moment are enough for now, but I like to plan ahead.

Which Sims games you have played (including mobile games): well Sims came out 2 days before i was born so i missed out on that one 😂 but my dad played it all the time and he also used to play sims 2 which is what i first got into (all i remember was child services taking my kids away all the time) and sims 3 is when i REALLY got into the sims, and now im totally in love with the sims 4 (i was not when it came out i installed it played for like an hour and then turned it off and went back to sims 3 😂)
Propose a crazy scheme: if maxis left ea life would be better prove me wrong 
Best part of simblr: I love being apart of a community that is loving and non-judgmental. I have no friends in real life and it gets very lonely but feeling like im apart of this community makes me feel better.  
Worst part of simblr: i thankfully havent experienced this (yet) but all the anon hate that goes around is very sad  
What other games you play: on PC i only really play sims and minecraft just because ive never had a nice computer until the Christmas that has just gone because my boyfriend bought me a flashy new gaming pc 🥰 I also play PS4 and i love games like Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Battlefront 2, Red Dead 2 and the new Spiderman game

Welcome back guys! In the last episode we found out Amina might be preggers, for real this time. Soooo let’s take a lor pregnancy test for her. 
Once again sorry about the screen showing, I needed better gameplay and thats how I got it. 
“Dude, I’m so broken out,” says Michelle, “Me too,” says with a mouth full of food, Amina. “Who was that guy I saw you with at Adu’s party?” asks Michelle.
“Oh....um, I know him from way back, his name is Michael”, Amina lies straight through her teeth. “Funny, he told me his name was Erik. You didn't know him did you?”, Michelle catches Amina. “No. ...”, she stuffs her face some more, “...and it was unprotected” says Amina, “since you know so much....you know I'm tired of being alone, sitting up in this house waiting for a man to hold me, I need to be loved sometime, held sometime,” she starts on, crying. “....” Michelle drops the food out of her mouth, “we’re going to take a pregnancy test. Let’s go,” she finds her responsible cousin characteristic quickly, drags Amina out the door and heads to the supermarket in their jammies.

I’m actually legit mad, that Amina did this. I feel like such a mom who is overprotective of her kids. Like, y’all...she slept with a married man that she doesn't know, without my consent. I'm actually so mad, now she's gonna have his baby. Annnnd, *TRIGGER, TRIGGER, TRIGGER ALERT*

Abortions are an option in this game, but, because of my own personal experience IRL, I do not support them. And, not legally of course, I’m talking about...for me...like keep it legal, but, no.... anyway. I don't want her to get a sim-abortion, even though it’s an option. That is what is making mad the most.

The test came back positive, soo...here goes the cc shopping for mods and other baby related stuff for the game.

So for the rest of the game, they just chilled out. Michie, ...meesh..., I need a nickname for her...she doesn't know how to cook. But she made someeee veggie dumplings that actually looked good. And then I went to go make some veggie dumplings IRL and ate it with them. 🤪

Quinn came back home stinky and tired and....just ugh. He doesn’t know, he doesn't need to know. He might even get plotted on, but how! If Amina and Quinn barely talk. Let’s see if the plot works though....look forward to that.

Yup, adding flame to my fury, or fury to my flame or whatever. I tried to....invite the guy Eric on a date, and Amina literally doesn't know him well enough to hang out, go out, meet out, eat out, nothing. He can come over, but nah. Idk, maybe...idk. Lol, she can't text him or nothing. Like...why...did...she...do...that.

Tf, Quinn gets his own area and they skip every other hangout spot in the house and go straight to his room, which is tucked away in the basement. This is not the damn hang out spot, this is his man cave. These sims have no respect. Or maybe, it’s just me cause I’m mad. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this situation. I am literally just an irritated gamer observing the nonsense that is coming from my sim-babies right now.
