Oh hey, Master! Hellooooooo!
Tumblr media
Nemo Baker here! How are you doing?
Oh? You're checking our Faerie Britain records? That's good, that's good! It was a very memorable play, wasn't it? Erm, sorry, Sion's theatrics must have rubbed off on me.
You know, Britain has a... Not unwarranted, mind you, bad reputation in culinary circles. But their baking traditions are pretty solid!
Have you ever heard of a Bara Brith? They're this Welsh bread speckled with fruits. If you like fruity cakes and bread, there also is the Dundee Cake, favorite of the Queen of Scots, the Singing Hinnies, with their wonderful song as they begin sizzling, and many more!
We also have Victoria Sponge Cake, Scones, Madeira Cake... If you go savory, you can't go wrong with good old Shepherd Pie!
Also, besides the things we expect and know from Proper Human History, I heard Faerie Britain had an uniquely developed chocolate culture!
All that is to say...
I REALLY WANTED TO GOOOOOO!!!
I'm a baker, ok!? I wanted to check recipes and expand my repertoire and maybe take in an apprentice or two! BUT DA VINCI GOT TO DO ALL THAT!!! And I was stuck on the Storm Border! Uaaaaaaaaah!!!
... eh? Next time we go to a British Singularity, you'll be sure to take me along? You mean it!? Yay! Thank you, Master!
Oh, but look at this. I made you listen to me complain on and on, and even got a favor from you. Alright! Lay it on me, Master! Do you have anything you'd like me to bake? It's only fair, to thank you for your support.
... Welsh Cakes? Pice ar y maen, the cakes on the stone. Hehe, they're the favorite of quite a few in our crew. Very well! A super large serving, coming right up~!

Is there anything you'd imagine Arthur and Ludwig baking together?
God so many. They share different recipes from their culture all the time whether they are just friends or lovers.
But a list. Kuchen is my go to in fics because I've always wanted to try it. Also shortbread because I love short bread. Additionally, fairy cakes, apple crumble, kirschenmichel, cheesecakes (or kaisekuchen) , quarkballchen, Lebkuchen (during the winter), fresh bread, madeira cake, jammy dodgers.
I could really go on, but I basically listed desserts from British/German background that I've either had, or, in most cases, I'd like to try. Additionally there were a few that I'm unsure of their background but I really like so I included them as well 😅. Thank you for the ask!

How To Find Best Pound Cake Shop Near Me?
In this blog we are going to talk about some of the most interesting facts about pound cakes. Since the article is informative in nature, it is going to help you learn about some important facts and facets pertaining to your favourite pound cake, which is one of the traditional delicacies of the country.
As far as the baking of the pound cake is concerned it is done either in a loaf pan or a bundt Mold and then it is served either dusted with powdered sugar which is lightly glazed and sometimes it is done with coat of icing. Originally, it is a British invention and in Britian the pound cake is more commonly known as Sponge Cake or Madeira Cake.
Every year Match 4th is celebrated as the National Pound Cake day.
There is a German cake as well, which is called ‘Eischwekuchen’ whose recipe is very similar to that of the pound cake. Then there is the French Cake. It is a traditional and popular cake of the French region of the Brittany. And in this case, no added fruit of any kind is used in the making of the cake.
But have you ever wonder why it is called a pound cake. Well, the answer to this lie in the fact that the cake is traditionally made from a pound of each of the 4 ingredients used in the cake: flour, butter eggs sugar. If you are looking for the best pound cake in Atlanta or in case you are looking for the best pound cake near me, consider Emma Lou Pies.

It has become a mystery to me why eggs are added to virtually every bread, cake, and loaf imaginable. Since I quit using eggs, I have made minor adjustments to basic recipes (I make a batch of tea loaf most weeks, for instance) and the results have proved indistinguishable.
If a bread or cake has apple sauce, mashed banana, pureed pumpkin, or slurried squash already, these serve the exact same binding and moistening purpose as eggs, so eggs need not be called for. The eggs add nothing. If a recipe doesn’t have any of these, I have never known a pot of apple sauce to affect the taste of any of my more robust recipes. A few tbsps of flaxseeds (which I keep on hand anyway) with an extra splash of liquid serves the same purpose, if neutrality is important. Unless you’re beating your eggs in order to incorporate air into a batter (an angel food, say), or unless your sponge is rather pure (a madeira, say), then eggs can and indeed should be avoided as a costly, unhealthful surplus.
Eggs will to a limited extent extend the life of a loaf or sponge, but only in as much as they add fat. If you wish to gain this benefit or are accustomed to and expect it, a tbsp of olive oil or butter serves much the same purpose, though I should think it unnecessary in most cases, as tea loaves and the like are best in the fridge anyway, and bread can be frozen for weeks without changing taste or texture.

National Pound Cake Day The Pound Cake is a British creation that dates back to the early 1700s.   In Britain, pound cake is more commonly known as ‘Sponge cake’ or ‘Madeira cake’.   The German Eischwerkuchen is a recipe very similar to the pound cake.   In France, pound cake (named “quatre-quarts”, which means four-quarters) is a traditional and popular cake of the French region of Brittany, and as its name implies, uses the same quantity of the four ingredients, but with no added fruit of any kind. 🍰 #NationalPoundCakeDay #Food #FoodSolutions #FoodService #FoodServiceSolutions #FoodSales #WeKnowFood #FoodConsultant #FoodDude #FoodOfTheDay #NobertSales @NobertSales https://www.instagram.com/p/CpYg-PPvEkG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Tiramisu with Coffee Ice Cream
Tiramisu with Coffee Ice Cream
Tumblr media
Tiramisu is given an Asian twist with this amazing Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream from the wonderful range at Yee Kwan.
This Tiramisu is traditional for the most part but the ice cream really gives that intense coffee hit along with a new texture. The two parts work incredibly well together to create something halfway between a traditional Tiramisu and an ice cream sundae.

TIPSY HEDGEHOG
I’m just a little on hedge today
•
For a TIPSY HEDGEHOG CAKE recipe you need a) An oval-shaped sponge or Madeira cake b) White wine, sherry or brandy c) 1 pint rich custard made with eggs and cream or milk d) Blanched and split almonds e) Whipped cream.
1) Cut the cake to a “hedgehog” shape, tapering to form the head and tail. 2) Pour over enough of the wine, sherry or brandy to moisten the cake without making it too damp. 3) Cover with the custard. Insert the almonds into the cake to form the hedgehog’s prickles. 4) Place the cake on a serving dish and pipe whipped sweetened cream as a border.

He’s putting the finishing touches on a Madeira cake when he hears footsteps towards the front of the shop. He’s certain he locked the door, but who knows? It might be the boys from the other night, coming back for more baked goods. He wonders if he can foist the scones off on them, along with the rest of the jam and clotted cream. As delightful as they are, one can only have so much of a thing that makes butter look like a diet food.
He taps his little sieve of caster sugar carefully over the loaf. For a recipe this simple, the balance of flavours needs to be precise. While it would certainly not ruin the cake if he put on too much or too little, he would know the difference, and it would bother him with every bite.
“Thought you’d make something a bit fancier, given all the other things you listed off.” Crowley leans in the doorway, not exactly slithery but still lithe, sinuous, all those serpentine adjectives.
“I thought you were going to sleep until July.” Aziraphale eyes the dusting of sugar and deems it acceptable. He busies himself with cutting the cake into slices so he doesn’t have to look at Crowley.
“If I couldn’t find something to do, yeah.”
Aziraphale finds plates at hand exactly where he expects and puts slices of cake on them: three for him, one for Crowley.
“You said you have wine?” Crowley nods. “I hope one of those is a Madeira.”
“Angel, it’s two in the afternoon.” There’s a note of mock affront in Crowley’s voice that makes Aziraphale want to smile.
Instead, he sniffs. “In a time of crisis, I would say that any hour is a drinking hour.” He takes the plates and heads towards the little table in the back. “I have tea and other things if you would prefer, but it really is traditional to have this with a glass of Madeira.”
‘Then that’s what we’ll do.” Crowley uncorks the bottle and pours each of them a glass. It does go very well indeed with the cake.
--
(Line about any hour being a drinking hour in a time of crisis stolen from my queen Ina Garten, who Understands.)
