[9] Madness' End: Nightmare Relief
Post campaign re-release, originally dated:
MID-MAY Y41 / 6:00 AM / DALARAN CITY
FOR EMERGENCY DISTRIBUTION TO ALL UNITED AEGIS MEMBERS
Greetings, United Aegis. The following has been compiled by QUARTERMASTER VIVIKA SPLINTERTREE-TALONSCRIBE from reports by TEAM LEADER VOLHELLIAN ZHI LU-DUSKWHISPER and TRADESPERSON MYRO GLADEWIND.
ALL NON-ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL ARE ADVISED TO REMAIN IN VALDRAKKEN OR RETURN TO THEIR HOMES FOR THE TIME BEING.
Clarification: All organization members below OPERATIONS LEADER are advised to retreat to Valdrakken, or leave the Isles entirely. Those who remain are required to report to Director Zael or Team Leader Volhellian.
Continuing from last week’s revelation, Director Zael and Team Leader Volhellian attempted to guide the remaining expedition out of Ohn’aran Plains and into the Azure Span via the Teerakai Road entrance.
As suspected, an old threat has resurfaced. Details will remain on a need-to-know basis until a re-deployment order has been issued. I am allowed to share the following de-classified information:
FILE: Aezsden N.N.
Species: Naga
Threat Level: 6 Old God
Age: Unknown - estimated 12,000-15,000 years
Encountered: Approx. 3 months before the War of Thorns, caused intense psychological damage to multiple members of then Aegis Academy, and kidnapped a Ren’dorei woman from the original organization headquarters in Surwich.
Orders: Do not engage. If encountered, make all efforts to escape. Do not risk injury to yourself or your team. Report sightings to Team Leadership immediately.
Aezsden has been encountered on the road from the Plains, confirming that it was indeed his influence causing nightmares for the Teerai Initiates. His departure from the region has brought calm to the Centaur’s dreams, though he summoned several Faceless minions to make his escape.
Zael, Volhellian, Kang, Myro and Randred faced and defeated these aberrations, and remain deployed, camped in the Azure Span.
A second threat has been reported; when Aezsden made an appearance, a large explosion lit up the sky across the Plains, coming from the direction of Timberstep Outpost.
Initial scouting reports from Myro speak of great destruction in the waterfalls near Timberstep Outpost, though only one fatality among the Centaur. They speak of sighting the Incarnate of Fire, Fyrakk, diving into the earth and boring into unknown caverns below the Dragon Isles.
Myro was able to use his connections with the Dragonscale Expedition to request aid for the Outpost’s injured, and we thank him for his quick action.
United Aegis leadership will need to decide which path to follow now, between the threats that have emerged in tandem. Please be patient and remain safe in Valdrakken or otherwise away from the Dragon Isles during this time.
WHAT HAPPENED
Old God Level 6 Threat Aezsden remains active.
Incarnate of Fire Fyrakk has destroyed a portion of the Ohn’aran Plains and disappeared into the earth.
WHATS NEXT
Discussion continues between the currently deployed expedition team and United Aegis leadership.
A re-deployment order is expected within the next two weeks.
ACTION ITEMS
Remain alert. Report any unusual void-based sightings to Team Leaders.

I still really like Age of Calamity in spite of its canon divergence, because nothing brings me more joy than seeing glimpses of what the Kingdom of Hyrule was like before so much of it was vaporized!!
I read every little mission/quest text and it just makes me smile. Reading (wholesome) stories about random citizens!! Little cultural details and how different tribes interacted with each other, what the Sheikah-Royal family relationship was like...
It gave us a surface-level form of the one thing I secretly hoped TotK would let us do, which is to explore this iteration of the kingdom while it was intact. The stone tablets in Tears were so much fun but GODSSS I wish they'd have let us explore ancient Hyrule instead of just the ruins of some of it in the sky and depths.
I am after all a nerd about these games so it really is the small stuff that feeds my heart the most <33

Post campaign re-release, originally dated:
LATE APRIL Y41 / 6:00 AM / DALARAN CITY
FOR EMERGENCY DISTRIBUTION TO ALL UNITED AEGIS MEMBERS
Greetings, United Aegis. The following has been compiled by QUARTERMASTER VIVIKA SPLINTERTREE-TALONSCRIBE with assistance from DIRECTOR ZAEL MARLFOX.
ALL NON-ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL ARE ADVISED TO EVACUATE THE OHN’ARAN PLAINS AT THIS TIME. AN OLD GOD LEVEL 6 THREAT HAS BEEN REVEALED.
Clarification: All organization members below OPERATIONS LEADER are advised to retreat to Valdrakken, or leave the Isles entirely. Those who remain are required to report to Director Zael or Team Leader Volhellian.
Waking Shores Basecamp and Ohn’aran Plains Basecamp have been evacuated at the time of publishing. All other non-leadership, non-expedition personnel are advised to leave the Dragon Isles, or at the very least, evacuate from the Ohn’aran Plains.
The elders of the Plains have given us permission to travel though, which is the best news I can bring you today, however an old threat has re-emerged.
At this time, a threat assessment is underway headed by Director Zael and Team Leader Volhellian.
When that assessment has concluded, a proper evaluation will be published, and re-deployment will be discussed.
WHAT HAPPENED
Our organization has earned the privilege of travel through the Ohn’aran Plains.
A level 6 threat has been revealed. All non-essential personnel are advised to evacuate the Isles.
WHATS NEXT
A threat assessment is being conducted, and a proper re-deployment alert will be published upon completion.
ACTION ITEMS
Evacuate at your earliest convenience.

can i ask what happened with the rqg finale that you mentioned in the tags? 👀 i used to be a listener but stopped a while back
im still only half awake n im going off my memory alone so, grain of salt, but the Big thing is. if you got far enough in, y'know the blue veins? or if you didn't, the final big bad, they turned out to be like. very powerful deity-type thing who could not be meaningfully defeated, only reasoned with. so the party gamely attempted to reason (again if you got far enough in, a conversation with big mr. ceiling vibes), and then got to Make A Choice. as a handful of random people, on behalf of Absolutely Fucking Everyone. they chose for the big bad to fuck off n leave everyone alone. game over! campaign over! oh by the way when the big bad left they took all magic (sorcery wizardry and deity) with them and you didn't in fact fix anything because everything is now just broken again but differently :) the cool floating city crashed to earth and loads of people died :) ninety five percent of technology no longer works :) thanks for playing and listening!
