This whole debate about where Link lives is funny because:

1) there's nowhere else where it's implied that he lives (and he needs to live somewhere ??? Lol. Also, he can sleep in Zelda's bed, but not in any other NPC's bed)

2) it is canon that he's practically always with Zelda (so it isn't practical for him to live far away from her)

3) it is also canon that Zelda made that secret room to concentrate better when she works alone (why would she need an extra room if she lives alone?)

Edit to add: 4) she hid her gift for Link outside the house so he wouldn't find it until after their investigations (I'm citing the text from Zelda's diary). If he doesn't live in the Hateno house there would be no risk of him finding it and no need to hide it outside

I think Nintendo just made it ambiguous because they'd rather being killed than making a main character ship canon, lol

The monarchy in Latin countries was going well, with its ups and downs like every system of government and then BOOM, France, USA and England start to interfere in the politics of other countries to plunge them into wars and make it '''' democratic republics'''' completely dependent on them, a great plan, and now, the Latinos want to exchange American imperialism for Chinese, remaining slaves but changing owners. I would love imperialism like Zelda's, the races have a lot of autonomy of their own and even in the cruelest moment of the Hylian monarchy, they still managed to be self-sustainable. Ganondorf has always been a tyrant, who put his people in misery to use them as justification for his actions.

You complain about Rauru and the Hylian monarchy, but Ganondorf never wanted what was best for the Gerudo, he never wanted to live in peace with other races, he wanted to INVADE lands that weren't his (it was always implied that Hylians existed before). the Gerudo) if you have someone who is an imperialist who takes advantage of the "divine right of monarchy" that being is Ganondorf. Despite knowing very little of the zonai (at least the game doesn't provide much from what I've seen so far), I have a theory/headcanon regarding their magic. In game, we hear singing in the shrines and when Link descends into the depths for the first time with Zelda/goes to fight Ganondorf. These voices seem to be associated with Rauru's magic in some form, which has lead me to think what if zonai spells were songs/music based? The vocals we hear are essentially the voices of the ancestors/people of the past.

The voice we hear prominently in Rauru's magic sound feminine to me. So along with the theory that these vocals are from the ancestors, the person the descendant is "closest" or "most attuned" to is the singer we hear the strongest vocals from. They are the ones channeling energy/lending their strength the most. For Rauru's case, they would be a female/feminine-leaning zonai.

So based on my theory, I drew this doodle of Rauru meeting the ancestor he is most attuned to in a sacred realm of sorts, possibly during the time he's learning to use and strengthen his abilities. The design for the ancestor is still a WIP but it's a good start for me. I'll probably make this a full piece another day.

ok so I've been shipping sidlink for years now and been in the zelda fandom for longer(fandom since 12, shipping since 16) so I'm used to seeing bad faith takes trying to explain why a ship between two adults who aren't related is "problematic" but "if you don't ship z/elink your a misogynist" is definitely the newest and most disheartening.

out of all of my LITERAL YEARS of shipping these two I haven't once seen a post bashing zelda or another female character. Even with the interruption of Yona I haven't seen much hate, sure there has been somethings here and there but for the most part everything's been chill.

what I wish people would do is analyze racism and sexism on the Gerudo, discussing how although link is gender androgynous in botw it comes at the price of orientalism, and how Zeldas powers being connected to birth right calls into question how much sexual agency she has. not you know....trying to prove moral failings based on what you ship(sidenote, please don't read this line and think im p/ros/hip I got beef with yall but that's for another post)

what I have seem instead was toxic z/elink stans putting sidlink hate directly in the ship tags. I can't look up sidlink on here and especially twitter without seeing a post saying that if you ship them you're a pedo when I haven't seen this behavior for all my years I've been shipping. only in the last year that I've seen it. I personally think the problem is (that isn't unique to z/elink) is that fans feel the need to feel justified when hating a ship, it isn't enough to just not vibe with it, there has to be a valid reason. so instead of ignoring it they come up with reason why liking something that's completely fine is a problem. so they come up with a reason like pedo are most recently misogyny. I don't like z/elink but I would never try to make a moral reason as to why.

you can understand sexism in zelda, and fandoms as a whole without shipping the main girl character. infact I would argue its more sexist to imply you can only understand a female character only when they're with a man. so if your gonna callout non-z/elink shippers for misogyny can I also callout z/elink stans for internalized homophobia with their weird need to nitpick every mlm ship?
