This one was @trainofcommand 's fault for getting me thinking about a stargate AU where Evan Lorne joined the NID instead of the Air Force, because reasons. (reasons being Agent Barrett is cute and I still have a thing for men in suits getting wrecked and filthy). Anyway. Evan Lorne, agent of the National Intelligence Department, carefully held back a smirk as Agent Barrett opened his own office door and curtly gestured Evan inside. Something must have got him really worked up; he didn’t often risk letting off steam at work like this. 

“Debrief went that well, did it?” Evan said mildly once the door was shut— and locked, he noted with interest— behind the two of them. 

“Un-fucking-believable,” Barrett groused, stalking up and walking Evan backwards. Barrett’s hands were already at Evan’s belt, unbuckling it with quick, irritable movements. He was impatiently moving onto Evan’s button and fly before he’d even finished backing Evan up against his desk. “I don’t know what these idiots are thinking out there, sometimes.” 

Evan licked his lips, enjoying the view as Barrett dropped straight to his knees while muttering and scowling. “Only sometimes?” 

“Yeah, good point,” Barrett agreed, tugging Evan’s suit pants and underwear down with one firm yank. “Most of the fucking time.”

Review - It was a decent book with a lot of historical information on the Vietnam War and NIS's members. The main problem with the book was how light it was on actual cases vs pages and pages of commentary of who was assigned when and where. The painting is an elegant depiction of Sarah Barrett Moulton, who was about eleven years old when painted. Her direct gaze and the loose, highly-movemented brushwork give the portrait a lively immediacy.

Linking to this story about the subject of the painting who died a year after sitting for it. This style of portraiture (big, full length portraits meant for public display) was common for the time period — As popularized by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Timeless is a brilliant show!

It’s clever, creative, diverse, historically-based and just a really interesting plot! I’ve only seen season one, but I’m about to watch season two and I’m gutted there are no more seasons. There’s character growth, secrets, moral dilemmas, cliffhangers, conspiracy, plot twists, etc.

They have great storylines with famous people and events, from Abraham Lincoln’s assassination to Al Capone’s arrest, Jesse James to Bonnie and Clyde, Ian Fleming (James Bond author) in his WWII spy days to the space race and the Alamo.

I wish there were more episodes. It shows the awe and danger of time travel, the butterfly effect and can encourage an interest in the real historic events by teaching you a little in each episode. It goes into American history throughout several decades and a few centuries, as well as delving into the human desire to change the past due to personal loss and the consequences of doing so - along with an awful lot of hope and betrayal. 100% recommend!
