I have thoughts (shocker)

People love to say that Wille has no hobbies outside of being into Simme and dating him but like… that’s not true.

In the show we see that he plays video games and reads.

We’re also told he used to ride horses.

He’s great at chess, which, if you don’t know this, takes time and practice. Trust me, I was on the chess team at my middle school.

He enjoys partying and is known for it but is forced to chill out because of the fights. You may not think of that as a hobby but it can be.

That’s just a handful of things I observed from the show.

Did he shift focus to Simme? Yes. Because he’s in love with him. He wants to spend as much time as possible with him.

Idk a lot of y’all sound so chronically online and single cause… how many hobbies do you want this kid to have?!

I’m a grown woman and my only hobbies are watching TV shows and playing cozy games..

can we just talk about how august is one of the most well-written antagonist characters in modern media? he’s done some unforgivable things but you still see him as human. he’s not just an evil person to make the storyline more interesting, he’s so much more complex than that. from a writer’s perspective i absolutely love his character and his storyline so much. also props to malte gårdinger for playing him so well. wow. just. wow.

Did ya notice that Wilhelm looked extra RICH this season? The costume department really stepped their game up, more than ever and doubled down on the quiet luxury trend for Wilhelm. You can see how they blatantly conveyed the vast financial difference between him and Simon through their wardrobe. From their suits at Wilhelms birthday party, to their opposing outifts at their pre trial hearing....Even Wilhelms camping outfit looks like its straight out of a luxury outdoor brands ad campaign. The styling choices this season are simple, but very well executed.

One thing that I'm obsessed with is that Wille has a camera in his room this season. This boy went back to school and brought his Instax Wide 300 camera (I'm 99.9% sure it's an Instax Wide 300) to take lots of photos of his boyfriend and then shit happened and he only has that selfie of the two of them taken in the castle.

I hope Wille took lots of photos during the happy summer. And now I have a hc that Wille always liked photography, but as there was never space or support to explore any hobby he ended up letting it go and now that he is free he can finally discover more about it.

And in the future Wille becomes a photographer in the style of Emilia Staugaard (just because I love her style of photography). And he also adopts a pseudonym and becomes a writer and his books are successful and there are several theories about who is the author of these successful novels in the best Elena Ferrante style. And he discovers that he also loves cooking/baking. There are millions of possibilities for Wille's future and I love it.

If you think Wille giving up the crown and freeing himself means he will continue to have no interests or hobbies or goals outside of being with Simon then you missed the entire point of the ending.

Wille was never given the luxury of choosing his own hobbies or his own interests because he always did what was expected of him. He was forced to take music lessons as a kid. He joined the rowing team because that’s what his brother did. He partook in royal duties in season 3 because he felt like he had to. He has no idea what he likes or what he wants to do because his life was always planned out for him, even more so when he became the crown prince.

When he frees himself from the expectations of the crown and his family at the end, he’s now free to figure out what he likes, what he wants to do, where he wants to go. The world is finally his oyster. He’s fucking 17-years-old. He has all the time in the world to figure it out. I didn’t have the pressure of the monarchy and I had literally zero clue what I wanted to do. Wille has all the time in the world to figure it out. He doesn’t have any practical skills, but he’s also literally 17-years-old. In what world does even a regular, everyday 17-year-old have any or all that are needed? I personally didn’t even get a job until I was 19 and didn’t enter my current career until I was 26. He has time.

By choosing himself, Wille also chooses Simon, because Simon is and always will be a part of him, but that doesn’t mean Simon will continue to be the only thing in his life. The ending of the series is also the beginning of a new chapter in Wille’s life - where everything is unwritten and the possibilities are endless.
