THE THEN LATEST IN BBATTLE-HARDENED MOTÖRMUSIC -- MUSIC TO MARCH TO.

Motörmusic for @$*!#&% life -- "EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE!!"
The beast behind our eyes is loose
The day has come, the day has come
We march to Armageddon, hungry for the war
I see the hated enemy, I see what I was taught to see
And one of us will bend the knee
We understand the law
The bloodlust jerks our legs to march
Fife and drum, fife and drum
Our eyes are fixed and fearless
Searching for the war
Our statesmen deal in blood and lies
One hundred million stifled cries
One hundred million wasted lives
Already gone before
So March ör Die, March ör Die
The stench of death is in the sky
We never fail to satisfy
We rend with tooth and claw
March ör Die is the 10th studio album by Motörhead, released 14 August in 1992. The album features guest appearances by Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N' Roses Slash & the great Zakk Wylde.
R.I.P. Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister (1945-2015), Michael “Würzel” Burston (1949-2011)
Bastards was more than just a reset after the lackluster March ör Die laid waste to Motörhead’s commercial aspirations: the album was a much-needed recalibration of the band’s general mission, and turned out to be the fiercest, meanest and most focused record the band had put out since at least Another Perfect Day, if not all the way back to Ace of Spades. And it had definitely been that long since Motörhead sounded so cohesive- with Mikkey Dee fully on board, Lemmy, Würzel and Phil "Zööm" Campbell were fully in lockstep and stayed in full attack mode even though the songs on Bastards were actually quite varied. “I Am the Sword” benefited from the band’s renewed sense of purpose- structurally it wasn’t much different from anything the band recorded in the previous 10 years, but there was a leanness and single-mindedness to the ass-kicking (aided no doubt by Howard Benson’s unfussy production) that gave the tune added vigor. It was just so great to hear Motörhead in their stride again, with Lemmy’s snarling croak especially venomous and Dee making his own mark with his jackhammer drumming. And fortunately for everyone, this turned out to be the beginning of a remarkably consistent run, one that pretty much lasted until Lemmy’s passing over 20 years later.

Okay... so maybe that was a bad idea. Is the album bad? No. It’s pretty good. But is it a great Motörhead record? No.
There are 3 drummers on this record. Philthy Animal Taylor plays one damn song and then he’s off the kit for good. Mikkey Dee whacks the skins on one track, remember that name for later. The main drummer on this release was Tommy Aldridge, who was largely known for being Ozzy Osbourne’s live drummer. Oh, Ozzy has a guest appearance on the album too. So does Slash. And they decided to cover Cat Scratch Fever for some goddamn reason.
Have I sold you on this yet? No? Well, it’s actually pretty good. If you love Motörhead as much as I do, you’ll enjoy this record. If the only reason you didn’t like Motörhead before was because they didn’t play glam rock, this may be the only record you like from them. For most people, you can skip this one. It’s far from essential.
