I HATED the game play and the bad parts are really bad, but man I love udg. The story is so good. I adore the warriors of hope, especially kotoko and monaca. Monaca is a perfect antagonist. The whole concept is so fascinating. I love how it's easily the darkest danganronpa story, yet half the game is just wholseome tokomaru interactions. Komaru ended up being a really good protagonist. And toko. Oh my god toko. One of the great danganronpa characters of all time. Sorry I just wanted to rant about udg

you're 100% right. the good parts of UDG are hands down the best writing Kodaka's ever done and i think UDG is his masterpiece narratively speaking, next to Rain Code. (certain newer games could not even compare. not even on the same list. not even in the same breath.)

on the flipside, no one played UDG when it came out apparently, so i'm sad that was the first and probably only true DR spinoff game. it may have made Kodaka and Spikechun think there was no real market for DR spinoffs. i think there is, but UDG should not have been the first. UDG is a really fucking tough sell all around. not even Nagito on a chain could save it for a lot of people, and Nagito on a chain saves everything for most people

I think this is the prettiest one of these I've made yet, actually:

While I've been working on small crochet projects, these do swiftly come to mind - they're quick, cute, aaand also good for using tail ends of yarns (particularly mystery ones from ~20 year old stash or the like) as they take like a max of 4 metres (and as little as 2.5 metres) in 2-3 colours.

And I can do them, at this point, while watching TV or similar. Have worked up a number more, including a few new tweaks!

The base pattern (free) I've spun off of.

I've tweaked it by adding more chains (I use 3 instead of 2, for bigger, smoother 'petal' lobes), by doing a [sc, ch 3, slst] instead of [slst, ch 2, slst], obviously there's one (thus far) with three colours, by changing up which colour has two strands in the tail. . .

I've also used a 5-strand braid in the past, among other tweaks.

Oh and a magic ring instead of starting in a chain.

And some of the yarn I'm using up, which I think these came from a loom kit (?) . . . some years ago. >.>

The tiny balls are cute (they were 5g to start with, so, you know); the yarn is . . . not the greatest, even for acrylic (it even looks recognisably like 'not the greatest' in the photo XD), but for the little flower bookmarks I think it's fine.

face scrubbies

Okay, gotta be real - washcloths are a great way to practise new stitches, but also I looove the feel of washing (myself, but like, in general I guess; I have kitchen ones too) with them.

These are not washcloths, but they are for the washing of self with lovely feeling (and super soft) cotton.

. . .also, possibly weirdly, they're the easiest in-the-round project I've ever worked on to keep count.

(There's a magic ring, first round, second round is of course two stitches in every stitch, and after that the next two rounds, pattern includes working puff stitches or working into puff stitches, which are unmistakable, and the final one is even easier.)

The pattern I used (with a few small tweaks) is available for free.

I've been working them while watching movies, honestly. XD And I have the pattern in my head now. (Though there's another one or few patterns for round face scrubbies I'll try too.)

Actually these were the first time I tried puff stitches, too - not a fan at first, but after one and a half of these I figured out what I was doing that was making it harder than necessary and also got used to the process.

I also added finger bands to some of them, which is not in any of the patterns I've seen, but does make it easier to handle such things while using them.

I'm using thicket stitch, at the moment, though with a three stitch wide band it's not really given space to shine.

. . .oh and I sized up my hook; I like the feel of the weave better with the H/5mm I'm using now, considering the yarn I'm using.

Every one of them I make now is almost identical in size and weight/amount of yarn (allowing for the ones with a finger band using more yarn, obviously), which is also rather neat, I think.

I might keep/make more for myself, perhaps, but I'm planning to take a flurry of them with me to the market, of course.
