I don't think I have it in me to be a youtube Video Essayist (like, I have the autism for it, and i love pacing around my house pretending I am, but I do not the mental ability to handle pushback), nor do I think i have the thorough academic/analytical knowledge on this topic atm to handle it the way I'd want to, but every time I see discourse about the topic of lgbt characters in video games I yearn to make a video about queer characters and tes and how tes handles them

See like. I do appreciate what carver was going for in a sense in season 8-11, like hypothetically, it’s a cool idea to reverse sam and dean’s traditional roles on their heads, sam touched by the demonic, dean touched by the angelic into sam being “purified” (trials of god, Angel possession, saying no to lucifer), while dean is corrupted (mark of Cain, demon, connection to the darkness), but the problem is inherently in the execution. Hell, on some level, it even keeps with their themes of sam usually having things forced on him while dean makes choices (with the exception of s8, sam chooses the trials and dean is forced into purgatory).

But unfortunately, the writing just didn’t end up delivering. They stopped bothering to write sam outside of dean in the second half of s9 all the way into s10, and then again in the latter half of s11, and so the arcs weren’t so clear, and then there’s also the fact the mark of Cain went on far too long and the demon arc was far too short. And amara was just a bit…silly.

I don’t know what “purifying” arc I would actually give sam later on, and I don’t know how I would handle dean’s arcs either, at least not rn. Might think on it later. But at the end of the day, carver had some really fascinating, subversive ideas and it really is a shame the execution was so poor for the most part.

I’m just so… I don’t want jaehyun to eventually alter the way he acts or presents himself due to backlash from fans (in and out of the bonedo fandom) regarding his “loudness” and energy. it doesn’t cause harm to him or his band members. he’s relatively good at reading the room and adjusting his seriousness (like sometimes I think people think they chose the bonedo leader willy nilly lmao) and he’s not oblivious or unaware of his bandmates and others. like anyone else, I’m sure there’s moments when he might need help refocusing or w/e, but I have yet to see anyone who is warranted to have an opinion (ie: knows him irl) react negatively to his personality? like he’s not the first idol to be talkative. he’s not the first idol that might run around a bit. he’s not the first idol to make a lot of jokes or flirt with half his bandmates. it’s not a new personality. it’s a little different than what we see in other leaders but again, it’s not “new”. loud people were not invented in 2003. and over time, maybe he’ll mellow out a bit. it happens. or maybe he’ll remain as he is, that’s cool too. and as a leader, I kind of hope for the latter bc the industry will work them and burn them out and I hope they’re able to maintain their youth and softness towards the world. that not everything is a battle or a fight, that the job while a job, can be one they continue to enjoy to do.

Like I earnestly believe that for all he's known for, gaius DID look at the black rose project and put his foot down and did his best to make it impossible to proceed. Even earlier on, before Werlyt, we were seeing glimpses of the cracks in how far he was willing to go for Garlemald. How is that overlooked? How do people see that and blanket him as a bad person? Like, he IS - but there's hope there.

ooooh this is an interesting example of korean wts pulling stuff from japanese manga: a toooon of visual gags (or just visual... rethorics?(?)) are staples of the medium (like, idk, the "lines" to indicate blushing or the huge sweat drop, or the "popping veins", etc etc) while at the same time others have clearly gotten lost in translation.

that little crow is usually seen in the background of manga panels accompanying a character who just did something stupid bc in japan the onomatopeya for the sound crows make is "aho" which also means idiot or dumb (the little drawing is rly iconic, its known as the aho bird i think, and its easy to find information abt it online tho im p sure the thing which popularized it outside of japan was naruto). basically, its a pun!

the first time i encountered i p much ignored the bird in a way to shorcut my understanding of what was going on & interpreted it as "a beat of silence" bc of the dots and bc no one in the panel was speaking (until i got at the end of the volume, bc i was reading a physical copy, and read the glossary, which kindly explained why a little crow was present in that scene in particular (sighs this was back when that printing house even bothered writing glossaries with info about japanese places, culture and trivia..i miss it soooo badly siiighs)).

anyways, as i said, my initial interpretation of the crow's presence was simply "...", which i think its what you are supposed to take away from this wt panel: its not saying the character just did or said something dumb, its just a beat of silence. maybe (probably) the crows original purpose got left behind on the other side of the languaje barrier, since its not the first time ive seen it used like this (as in, NOT meaning "you are dumb") in korean wts.

Lengthy explanation:

The rooster is a rhode island red and the chicks are golden comets (comets turn out a very pretty golden brown as adults, google it if you're curious.) Reds are and older and well-established breed, they are one of the most common commercial laying breeds for brown eggs. Comets are a cross between rhode island reds and white leghorns*, and are generally a bit smaller and more sweet tempered than the reds; however for the most part they are very similar in personality. In my experience both breeds possess an ungodly amount of stubbornness and are very food motivated. Also if you were attached to the black and white thing, reds tend to have little bits black on their wing and tail feathers, whereas comets have the same in white, theirs being a bit more (think half a feather vs just the end.)

*If you want more info on white leghorns (the other parent of comets) for whatever reason, they are one of the biggest commercial laying breeds, laying the vast majority of white eggs you'd find at a store. They are a small breed, a little flighty as is typical of leghorns, and both hens and roosters have huge combs; the hens' often flop over.
