The funniest part/difference between comic!Nico Minoru and show!Nico Minoru is that show!Nico is exactly what comic!Nico wishes she'd been like when Karolina first tried to kiss her.
Like, Karolina read the signals wrong and tried to kiss her and Nico kind of panicked and stopped Karolina, telling her she got it wrong and that Nico was straight or at least she thought she was; then, she almost immediately realized that she actually liked Karolina back but Karolina was already gone and then Karolina had a girlfriend and then Nico had a boyfriend and when they're both single Karolina is healing from losing her partner so Nico gives her time but it ends up being too much time because then Karolina meets Julie and then Nico is kidnapped, and then-- a lot of shit happens, to sum up. She finally ends up dating Karolina, happier than ever, but before that, timing was never right and Nico always blamed herself because she thought she'd lost her chance when she had it, all because she felt like she chickened out when Karolina first tried to kiss her
Then you got show!Nico who Karolina directly kisses at a party and Nico doesn't chicken out: she just takes two seconds to process and then she's like “holy shit, Karolina likes me and just kissed me? Fuck yeah” and just kisses Karolina back. Then she proceeds to date her immediately, without spending about 2 years regretting shit. I know comic!Nico would be seething.

“So, thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers.” Vs. “Great party. Thanks for all the pizza and sadness.”

I have such mixed feelings when it comes to wlw media. On one hand, it’s often amazing and makes me want to believe in humanity and the power of love the way I did when I was a child.
On the other hand, 90% of the time some homophobic big-shot comes along and cuts it short and/or makes it so the creator has to wait til the last minute to make it canon so it doesn’t get cancelled early.
Or worse yet, wlws are used as a side character who are killed off as a plot device or their entire character is their sexuality and they have no personality otherwise.
I want the media and I will eat up every morsel, but I’ll hold back out of fear of it getting ripped away or ruined and I hate it.

I swear dead girl media (tm) is a thing but I was having a hard time thinking of examples so here’s a list
Marvel’s Runaways (Amy)
Ducktales 2017 (Della)
Big Hero 6 (Tadashi, it doesn’t have to be a girl)
Raya and the Last Dragon (Sisu isn’t properly dead but people thought she was)
Miraculous (Emilie)
Lightyear (Alisha)
Secret Invasion (Maria)
Into the Spiderverse (blond Peter)
Proxy (Marie)
Hawkeye (Natasha)
The Dragon Prince (Harrow)
Dead End: Paranormal Park (Jennifer Swan)
Timeless (Amy and Jessica)
Dead girl media (tm) is not my original terminology. It describes a piece of fiction in which the world, characters, conflict, and/or general premise are all shape by the (presumed) death of a supporting character — usually a woman — before or early on in the events of the story

I love the fact that both Runaways and Warrior Nun heterobaited the audience and have a main sapphic ship obsessed with never leaving each other but both do temporary to keep the other safe
