 “You got your drinks with umbrellas finally, Peebee,” Liam said as he raised his glass high, showing off the small blue umbrella sticking out of his drink. 

“I know!” Peebee slurred, making Sara giggle. “They’re so cute, but poke-y.” To demonstrate, she lifted hers and attempted to take a sip, thwarted by the pink umbrella poking her on the nose. “See? Ow!”

“Take it out, then.”

“That would defeat the point, silly. They make the drinks better.”

“How do they do that exactly when you can’t drink it?”

Sara, watching this exchange by only moving her eyes between them, slowly said, “That’s a good question, actually.”

“Don’t - don’t you take his side.” Peebee turned her body to face Sara and swayed a bit from the movement. “You agree with me, Sara. Drinks. Are better. With umbrellas.”

Ever so slowly, the surprisingly strong alcohol making her feel like she was moving through water, Sara picked up her drink, removed the purple umbrella and stuck it behind her left ear. “Drinks are better when drunk,” she said before downing the last of it in one go. 

Liam raised his in the air and, sounding far more sober than either her or Phoebe, called out, “I’ll drink to that!” and tossed his own drink back. 

“You guys suck. I’m bored. Let’s do something.” 

Sara eyed Peebee. “Do you get even more bouncy when you drink? How?”

“Don’t know, it just happens. So,” Peebee looked between Sara and Liam. “What are we doing?”

Cora went to one of her plants as the doors closed behind them, spraying the leaves with a mist as she tilted her head to the pathfinder. “I hear you’ve done well Ryder. The vault is active and the planet is on it’s way to being viable.” “That’s what I’m about to let the Nexus know yeah.” Aeryn played with a leaf protruding from the side of one of the bays waiting for Cora to say what she really wanted to say. “And I hear you’ve made... allies in Kadara.” “Friends.” “Friends? From what Peebee was saying, it seems a little more than that.” Ryder leant back against a crate in frustration at the ship gossip as Cora turned to face her, her arms resting casually back on the counter. She didn’t seem pissed which was surprising to Aeryn, who tried to hide a little blush she could feel, giving away her feelings. “Typical Peebee...Look I-” “I trust you Ryder. you are the Pathfinder and I have your back, I’m not going to say anything about what you do with your private life. Just...be careful. Can you trust him?” Ryder wanted to instantly say yes, but she knew Reyes was hiding something from her. She always knew when people were, even if she couldn’t tell what it was. Her father hiding the reasons he got so heavily involved in the Initiative, that were now coming out through his memory triggers was one. She knew Reyes had something he was afraid to say. She couldn’t blame him though, after all she was carrying secrets she wasn’t going to tell him yet...if ever. But she felt she could trust him even with that because everyone kept secrets. Deep down in her gut, she knew he’d have her back and wouldn’t betray her. “I do. I also know the baggage that comes with getting involved with an exile, but he wants to help and has been invaluable so far.” That answer was enough for Cora’s shoulders to relax a little as she smiled at her Pathfinder. “That’s all that matters then. I do want to meet him though, I hear he is quite handsome.”

Title: The Bloody Crown Summary: A rewritten sequel to The Serpent in which Cerise finds herself pulled even deeper into Andromeda's secrets.

Cerise Ryder thought life would settle down now that the Archon was dead. The threat of the kett still loomed but figured they had plenty of time. Her time in the Meridian vault was branded on her soul, painfully so. Her brother decides to run headlong into chaos, causing her to run after him with her father. Bad blood between family, Kadara upheaval, and relationship woes all throw themselves at Cerise. Boiling down to one question for her: Is she willing to give her life to save a galaxy that would rather spit on her than say her name?

Oooh, hi! So, the thing is, I only have, like 6 fics posted anywhere and a couple of them need extensive rewrites (or I've kinda just written off because I'm not happy with it anymore & don't wanna rec, but haven't gotten around to deleting/orphaning). But here's what I've got.

1 - Recombined

Fandom: Mass Effect Andromeda. Relationship: Sis!Ryder/Jaal Ama Darav.

I'm very proud of this one, not least because it's one of the few things that actually got finished. It was unexpected because LJ was not a part of my "canon" Ryder's story (still isn't... well, not exactly) but I love her. I also find myself rereading this quite a bit especially when I need to remind myself that I can be a good writer.

2 - Vengeance and Saving the World

Fandom: Arrow (2012 TV show) + Pacific Rim. Relationship: Oliver Queen/Felicity Smoak

oof, this little guy is only like a week younger than my nephew. I'm not really even in the fandom anymore!

It's still weak in parts but, for a change, I don't actually care. I like the little jokes & nicknames. I'm proud of the bits of worldbuilding I got to add to the worlds I already smashed together. There was other stuff that I didn't eventually write like Tommy's dad was still alive with a kaiju egg and some nefarious plot or something. I do still get the odd kudos on this which I'm tickled by, but also, like, how the far in the weeds have you gone that you've found this almost 11 year old fella?

3 - Terra Incognita

Major WIP.

I know I haven't updated this in... well, a while. I am working on it, because I really enjoy writing all the little ways in which my headcanon is different from the game story or how they can all play together. Like I'm currently obsessing on how the angara have the intelligence to know about what happened on Eos (this is briefly mentioned by Jaal during the first meeting with Evfra). Like, there's probably a very simple explanation, but I'm having more fun with *spoiler 😆* that one day I plan on letting other people read.

This is not actually posted anywhere, but I do have some bits n' pieces that I've shared over the years, which I linked the tag. In my scrivener file, it's mostly a whole bunch of almost finished scenes & half started side stories (like there's a couple assassination attempts in Skyhold, one of which has become it's own little story inside the larger story, but I'm not really sure how they work that one out yet...). I'm probably going to be sharing more on tumblr soon, because I'm not writing it in any particular order & am getting impatient about sharing the stuff I'm proud of.

This is another one of those things that I start rereading so I can start working on & then just get sucked back in until it's hours later & I'm like "wait...what was I doing again?"

Woooo - okay, so my Reyes x Sara x Harry fic is coming along REALLY well. I've now got 6 chapters fully written, and the seventh is on it's way to be finished - mind you, this is going to be a big chapter, so I suspect it's going to take a couple of goes to get it right. Once that's done, I can plan out the rest of the fic in detail, and then write the second half.

I gotta give a shout out to @alyssalenko and @hawkeykirsah who have both listened to me babbling, at length, about this story and both helped me with my plot wrangling and such. Thanks to them, I think I managed to pull the boys in line so they aren't going to be at each others throat for the entire fic.

Soooooo, yeah, so far I'm pretty happy. The fic is pretty smutty, it's got some pretty gut wrenching angst, and the plot is interesting enough that I'm keen to keep writing (which I think means people will want to read it?).

Anyway, I'm excited. I think this is probably going to be one of my better stories!

Now I just need to commission some art for it!

Mass Effect fics I desperately want to read but will never write

Engineer Adams/Karin Chakwas slow burn romance - they become fast friends in ME1, bonding over being the ‘adult in the room’ and making fun of Pressly. Then share their grief over Commander Shepard’s death. Followed by a schism. Chakwas joining Cerberus was a line Adams can’t cross. To meeting up again on the Normandy at the beginning of ME3. Supporting each other all through that game, then finally getting together before the final mission

Zaeed/Jack indifferent friends to friends with benefits to ‘aw fuck I caught feelings’ - I picture Jack walking into Zaeed’s room during ME2 and basically being like ‘wanna fuck?’ And Zaeed going ‘Don’t have anything better to do, why not?’ Then they start making fun of everyone else on the Normandy especially Garrus and Shepard because those two nerds deserve each other. Then losing track of each other when the Reapers invade. Jack realizing that she really misses Zaeed but tells herself that it’s just because he’s not a bad lay. Zaeed realizing he misses Jack, but decides it’s just because she keeps things interesting. Then during the Citadel DLC, after they’ve sobered up, at like 5 in morning when it’s quiet and no one else is awake, they hold hands to watch the sunrise and are both incredibly embarrassed about it

Kal’Reegar/Tali’Zorah epistolary fic with bonus mistaken identity - After Tali joins the Normandy in ME2, she and Kal continue to write messages. Some short, some long. After ME2, she joins the fleet, and they’re able to spend a bit of time together. They fall in love, and after the Reapers invade, link suits for the first time. Once Tali rejoins the Normandy in ME3, they write more messages. Tali is absolutely heartbroken when she hears of Kal’s death only to learn several months later that he’s actually alive. Yay!

Helena Blake walking away from crime and setting herself up as a social worker on Omega. Does she deal with Archangel at all? I want to read about all of this

Reyes/the other Ryder in fake!dating and revenge becomes true love - Reyes Vidal is determined to get to get revenge on Pathfinder Scott Ryder after he lost Kadara to Sloane Kelly. So he decides to get close to the other Ryder, Sara. Sara wants to show the Initiative what she can do after humanity settles on Meridian. Somehow they meet cute (on purpose, totally planned by Reyes) and he starts to woo her. Somehow, his meticulous plan goes awry when he realizes that he’s truly falling for the other Ryder

Vorn/Kesh love at first sight and proving worthy of the one you love - I picture Vorn falling HARD for Kesh when they first meet. But he wonders why would she ever look at a botanist? Especially with so many warriors interested in her. So he courts her the only way he knows how. With science

Shena might as well have meant "trouble" - she knew that, even without the warnings she'd been given by some of her crew.

And yet. And yet she only found herself wanting to keep following Reyes down whatever rabbit hole he was leading her to.
