okay please find my hofas thoughts below now that i have had some time to think:

lidia!!!! i was itching the whole book for scenes of lidia. she honestly stole the show for me and i loved seeing her and ruhn's relationship progress. and then to find out that she's related to my baby girl aelin!!!??? i knew and suspected as soon as i saw brann's name, but the revelation was still so heart wrenching in the best way possible. especially because i felt such an understanding of lidia and her character. just everything about lidia was such a win and a shock for me. PERFECT.

the guys being tortured and everyone ??? glossing over it ?? 😐 i mean, i would have liked some more acknowledgment about the brutality of their torture. yeah, SURE baxian and hunt have been there before but ruhn?? and honestly just in general, this was crazy that it didn't get as much recognition. i did enjoy hunt and baxian's bonding though. i think male friendships are so important!!!!

how insufferable bryce was :) i.e treatment of hunt after being TORTURED???? her not wanting to safe the fae bc of the actions of some.... idk. don't even get me started on this one. the best part about her in this book were her encounters with nesta and that's bc i got to enjoy bb girl nesta. lmao. okay, maybe i'm being too harsh. but also i've never found hunt and bryce's relationship to be all that. like they're def not my fave couple so maybe that's just me being biased.

ember and nesta broke my heart. it makes me want to add nesta back onto my multi. she was amazing i have nothing other than that to say. and it broke my heart and her and ember's last goodbye.

lidia again bc god i love her and the fact that she's descendant of aelin!!!!!

JESIBA FUCKING ROGA. god, i love that woman. her and ithan's interactions were the best and i loved seeing more of her personality and finding out who true identity and story. what a mystery she was and to know how noble her and wholesome of her protecting the books, ugh. it gives me chills.

also hehe i have a huge crush on aidas and apollion. the princes of hell was just the cherry on top. i'm sad we didn't get more.

1. Are you named after anyone? Yes, two people actually! So my mom used to be an Olympics gymnastics coach overseas and she named me after one of her fave gymnasts :) then the other half of my name (i have a little hyphenated moment) is my grandma's middle name.

2. When was the last time you cried? yesterday lol, my best friend sent me a post on Instagram saying "our friendship has taught me what healthy love is" and i cried bc i love her so much and she deserves to be loved in a healthy way when she's faced so many struggles and it makes me really happy to know that I'm showing her the kind of love she deserves bc i try my best for her and I'm just so happy to know she appreciates that and that we have each other <3 ANYWAYS

3. Do you have kids? Nope! (Baby fever on the other hand... I have lots of that)

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I don't really think so, not really my sense of humour.

5. What sports do you play/have you played? Oh man, p much everything. Soccer, softball, basketball, but volleyball will always hold a special place in my heart as my fave <3

If this was the me of like ten years ago I would have said Swan Queen which is what I have written the most for but god OUAT and I are forever sworn enemies I just want to bully that series the way it bullied me. I'm going with Sam/Janet just because currently I would die for them.

I have a really good Friends with Benefit AU for Ivanova/Talia that I really want to finish and get out. A Soulmate AU for my bois Ted/Trent. A Heroes AU for Sam/Janet. Nothing has been published but I know they're waiting to be finished.

I enjoy when there are translations in the end notes for when I'm reading it but I also will otherwise put it into a translate service. I guess when writing I will keep it to simple phrases I know more than like full sentences? I'm not sure I have a strong enough opinion on this tbh

First fandom you wrote for?

zoowemama 100% was stargate - it was terrible and I'm so glad I have improved since because it was purely self indulgent but I think my first like ten fics were stargate, with maybe a twilight one or two.

Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

my extremely self-indulgent THG AU with Hayffie in the stargate universe. I just wish the stargate universe was as popular of an AU for other fandom works but alas that is what I get for falling in love with 90s scifi !! but this was so much fun to write and put easter eggs in and it was one of the first ones I wrote purely for me and less about what amount of hits/kudos/reviews/etc.

okay, so final thoughts:

it was great, I loved it, I enjoyed it, so much of it was just perfect, the casting, the chemistry, the development of their relationship - amazing

obvi they had to cut a lot bc limited time etc but I'm still bitter about June and the cornetto scene lol - I saw people say that it should've been a limited series, and I lowkey agree (plus the emails! obvi it's a different medium, and there were a few, but with how big impact they had on the story at the end, a series could devote more time to them fr)

I also saw some people say that the pacing felt rushed but i didn't feel that tbh, it was great

overall, immediate impression: fucking loved it, I cried, I laughed, it kept my attention the entire time (which is difficult lately lol) and now I really wanna reread the book even more haha

it was a fantastic queer romcom, I still wanna cry over it - there were quite a few changes to the book, which always kinda sucks, but as someone usually lowkey critical of adaptations bc I can never get over the changes lol, this one won me over pretty early on, it was just such a great watch, definitely gonna rewatch at some point - maybe after I finally reread the book 😂

also, Taylor and Nicholas need to get all the awards for the best on-screen couple or chemistry or whatever the fuck there is, bc jfc they did amazingly 🔥🔥😂

but also like tbh morality discussions within fandom as they pertain to characters and what they are perceived to deserve or not seem to always have an element of shallow bias. I absolutely know what it feels like to watch a character slide through or completely past the proper consequences of their actions in canon and have most people in fandom think this is totally fine (usually bc the character in question is 'hot' to them or they ship them with someone etc), while in the same breath arguing that character b who never did anything quite as bad as 'hot' character a can't face enough consequences and honestly should probably just die/get written off the show (I could honestly make a very long list from a lot of different fandoms of the characters I'm thinking of and I'm resisting to avoid unnecessary drama but it's HARD and I know some of my moots who I've known through various fandoms with me WILL know what and who I'm talking about). there's always a bias, there's always some element of hypocrisy that people are unwilling to accept and will instead write paragraph long bullshit diatribes about why their hot fave shouldn't have to face consequences while 'loser' character b should have to face ALL of them (if you supposed that character b is usually either some combo of older/not conventionally attractive/disabled/non-white then you win, because that's p much always the case!). I've seen characters in media do absolutely despicable things that just get swept under the rug by the writers and the fans where other characters deeds do not, so it's a double-standard that has rooting in some subject materials as well. so I guess for this reason it's difficult for me to take any kind of 'this character bad, this character good' at face value bc I know there's about a 99.9% chance that whoever is arguing this is doing so from a place of very deeply seated personal bias where nuance and complexity pretty much don't exist, it's just this character bad, this character good bc I said so. The end. It's not really limited to who the narrative designates as a sympathetic/heroic character or a villain either, it's entirely up to the preexisting prejudices the person has and is just blithely ignoring as they try to form their educated, 'objective' argument. (and ofc this extends to REAL people in fandom too bc inevitably THEY are good and whoever doesn't think like them is BAD, thereby justifying whatever they end up doing or saying to the 'bad fans')

For this reason I'm glad that OFMD is not that kind of show, at least not within the main cast. I'm glad that the subject material doesn't force anyone to designate characters as 'bad, unlovable' and 'good, deserves everything' based on shallow biases like someone thinks they're hot and/or they're a cute little meow meow or part of a fave pairing or whatever. Everyone deserves acceptance, but everyone has to work for it because we're exploring the idea that people and life are more nuanced than that, that we're ALL capable of destruction and pain, that no one gets a free pass from making amends based on some flimsy predetermination that they're 'one of the good ones' who is never culpable for anything. I think it's a really strong theme to go with and I'm appreciative of the writing team for having the emotional-awareness to do it, especially in a story that will inherently attract a lot of people who are used to doing the good guy/bad guy thing, particularly in queer narratives where these viewers tend to think everyone has to be a 'good guy' or they're not a valid queer or whatever.

And idk maybe being forced to see nuance like this will get some of these cut-and-dried narrative people to rethink themselves and life as a whole, maybe it'll force some of them to realize their world-views are deeply rooted in prejudice, maybe it'll get them to think about the complexity of humans IRL and the fact that life isn't as simple as being divided between good (never responsible for anything, always a justification) and bad (never deserving of anything good, should just go die) bc like man...what a caustic way to view life and people in general, what a fucked up way to go through life, what a cheap, easy way to justify your own destruction against others smh

I went to read Waking Dragons bc I was trusting your rec but the author flat out said this about Dany in the comments of ch11: "UnofficialLurker on Chapter 11Wed 14 Sep 2022 12:06PM UTCI'm sorry you feel that way.I disagree with her being strong in GoT. She was broken and she was mad. It's just hard to notice because we see things from her perspective." I'm SO disappointed with them :(

Oh, damn, that sucks.

Just checked the comments on Ch. 11 (haven't read any of them before) and apparently there was a huge discussion about their decision to make Jon king in this instead of Dany (didn't like that twist but I didn't put much thought into it either because let's face it, Westeros is pretty biased in that matter...). I think sometimes it can be okay to go this way in fics. In canon, as much as Dany wants the Throne, she also wants a family, a home and the betterment of the world that her father played a big part in ruining. She gets that here, which I liked (jonerys was pretty adorable tbf)!

And I didn't read her as weak in this story only because she didn't get the chance to rule as queen. She was sweet and kind, which are actually canon qualities that came up far too short in the show (and only got more space than the showrunners wanted thanks to Emilia). That's why I was okay with her portrayal in the fic (and it's Daemon's Pov so who knows what's going on inside her head), but the author's comment is crap.

For me, Dany's one of the strongest female figures ever portrayed in television history. Yes, maybe broken, at some points. Who blames her after all she has been through? But Jon was broken too and isn't that what makes them so strong? That they have to suffer so much and still manage to find their inner strength and get up again? In my eyes Daenerys is an icon and anything but mad, that's where I draw the line.

i came up with an itafushi college au last year where they meet in a 9am creative nonfiction writing class bc they both needed elective credits or something and it was the only class with spots still open and megumi HATES having to write about his life but he's actually like. really good at it. he and itadori get paired together for the first peer review assignment and megumi's like great. here comes the judgment on my home life. but then itadori reads over it and he's like OH MY GOD???? THIS IS SO GOOD WHAT THE HECK!!!

he can cook. guys he and tsumiki lived alone for like ten years i think he can manage to at least make enough food to feed himself!! i sincerely believe that he (accidentally) led itadori to believe his cooking skills were at a much lower level than they are and then megumi just. followed along with it. bc he was whipped and wanted to spend time with itadori.

Yeah, I hope they don't go back to Cali. I also don't know if I like the different locations thing, I would've preferred it if the cali road trip crew got more screentime, but they haven't got much so far. Even though they're going to get El, their storyline in vol 1 did feel quite disconnected from the other main plots. There's only one season left after this so I want them to be in Hawkins with everyone else lol, it also just makes it easier imo. I love season 4 but sometimes less is more, and I miss the s1 and s2 days where they only really had like two main plots to follow.

I still believe we're gonna get more scenes with the Cali gang maybe in ep 8, some bts pictures were released of them at a gas station so not all hope is lost for me yet.. but overall yeah it was pretty bad.

Sometimes it feels like everytime el is part of a storyline she takes over the entire thing, like the majority of the introduction of the byers family in California was like some brief mentions of both will jonathan and joyce... Which like, i understand by now el is considered the main character of the show and like I know I'm being really biased when I say things like this bc I love the byers family and will is my fave but the fact that we barely got to see how they were doing in such a new environment it's literally insane.. the first TWO seasons revolved around this family... now they're a background characters in els story??

And I know it must be difficult to try and balance out so many characters within one storyline and maybe the writers wanted to do more but idk man.. it's just really disappointing to see, kinda hoping they scrap this whole california storyline at this point and they focus on Hawkins again with everyone there, but honestly I'm not sure if that'll happen. here's to hoping ig lol

and yes, absolutely! collectively as a trio, it's double knot era. bc that's when i started getting into skz too :') and if u come to think of it, they rlly had great styles and looks back then. although i would also say back door/in life for hyunsung. individually, it's two for each like double knot and back door for jisung, god's menu and back door for hyunjin and thunderous and maniac for minho. these were eras that i experienced myself so i'd listed them.

now onto the best part!!!!!! LIMBO. i have to talk abt HER, she's a masterpiece. i instantly fell in love at first listen but i have to tell u she broke me too and i will be miserable for the rest of my life </3 i love minho's voice and singing style in it so much, idk what's in the song but i NEED to inhale it. it's definitely my top fave in the album!!!

If she's using power and pace to describe only Black players but not White players that's annoying bc yes, there are more skills to a player than power and pace.
