UPDATE: i successfully resisted the impulse to go slap hearts on LOTS more of their posts out of spite. and then i blocked them. bc. they weren't actually rude in the method of communication or words used. although the content of the message Felt Very Rude? but i'm still confused and mad about being confused and startled by such a different mindset to mine in regards to How To Tumblr (and i've been on tumblr for about 3yrs now btw)

FURTHER UPDATE--okay. a theory ventured by my friend @bibookdemon -- this is A Thing on instagram apparently ???

The issue is that folks believe spam liking will trigger a shadowban due to Insta flagging the likes as bot activity

and i was like. wut? what the hell is a shadowban ???

It limits your content reach. Your posts are moved lower in peoples' feeds, or hidden entirely, or etc

and then i was like...um. tumblr defo Does Not Work Like That ???!!! that's part of the charm

I have no idea if this is just like an artifact of What I'm Seeing Lately. So it could be purely bias in what's crossing my view not a real thing. But I've seen such a sharp rise in the last like 2ish years of Girl Power popular media being like "only losers ask you to split the bill! Yuck!" I feel like when I was growing up it was pretty common for Girl Power popular media to be totally okay with splitting the bill as a sign of, like, Equality In Relationships. Is this...an actual change? Is it just a change in what I'm seeing rather than what's out there? Idk. Weirds me out though.

i don't mind the varying art styles at all, it would be fun to have like a warioware-esque game where each mini game has it's own style. my own worry is that the minigames won't have the usual zaniness of previous games

I'll never forget when [REDACTED]fandom took [REDACTED], a character that canonically became a radical violent teenager that fell in the slippery slope because of a bruised ego on her patriotism and fell in love with the Evil guy trying to take over and she then became his right hand, then she killed her best friend when she tried to back off from the evil uprising.

She killed her own mother in front of her dad's eyes and in front of two children that her bestfriend adopted (yeah teen mother or something). Then the evil guy died (killed by his own trashy father) and she took his place and led a bunch of angry radicalized teenagers and evil guys, took prisoner her own grandmother and counsin and killed her grandpa (the leader the radicalized teens didn't like).

She was defeated after a fight but still managed to run away and was never caught or seen again.

And the fandom made it so she was manipulated and decieved by the evil guy, if not outright mind-controlled and tormented by his ghost and made her whole family abusive jerks for her to have a reason to murder them all. Which, don't get me wrong would have nice to get more deep in her character besides "i think our leader (grandpa) is a weak pussy and we need to be more violent". And yeah, her dad did held hostage a kid in exchange for supplies from another group because a sickness decimated them, so not that great but i still think of the "No you dont get her! [REDACTED] manipulated and abused her into this" which had, and i swear this on my name, zero basis in canon, fans just wanted her to be in an abusive relationship and make her sad and that was all her personality while the bad guy only got 'evil jerk violent boyfriend' characterization despite the fact his own mother trained him to take revenge against his trashy dad, and it was very weird. I didn't even like these characters and i'm still irked by how mischaracterized they were , it was...so weird.

It shocks me that Zeta Gundam & Gundam ZZ released back to back bc so far ZZ feels so much more dynamic in character animation. Big fan of Judeau & the new cast, can't wait to probably see every single female character I like get butchered by the writing as the series continues.

I'm doing a new playthrough and it's getting me thinking about stuff. I find it incredibly harrowing that Victor basically has a dead guy's brain copied into him and has to do whatever House tells him to do.

Trudy is telling me how 'it's' hiding something, and doesn't trust Victor at all. Easy Pete telling me how he's harmless and "a broken down relic with no place to be."

Got me thinking again about how Victor's just been rolling around every so often in Goodsprings (while I'm assuming every so often switching consciousness to another robot). Why? Why keep watch over Goodsprings? It's not like it's instrumental to the strip or House at all to hang around there for 10 years.

Which leads me to the deeper questions like how much humanity remains in him? How much of the person he's based on remains specifically? Does he still think like a human, or are all the processes now... hmm filtered through machine like reasoning?

What got me thinking about Victor in this way again was suddenlyremembering how I asked him to help us defend Goodsprings in my first playthrough, and he didn't show up. Feeling disappointed. Then I think I used science skill when I next saw him to determine 'someone' (obv House in retrospect) had shut him down to prevent him showing up to help.

Incredibly horrifying to think that someone who owns you could shut you down like that, no matter their relationship when he was human. If House can shut him down, and gets him to do things like follow me around but not get involved, then how much free will does he have over his actions? Has Victor changed in the last 200 years? Or is he stuck exactly as he was when his brain was scanned, except that he has no choice in what he does now if House doesn't like it. Does he get to die if he wants to? Or is he too useful to House to be allowed that? Can House mess around with his artificial brain or just simply manipulate him into doing what he wants the old fashioned way? Is his compliance with House out of habit from when he was human, choice because he still agrees with House's ideas, or is there no choice for him?

I vaguely remember the explanations he gave me in the Lucky 38 in a previous playthrough making me sad. I can't even remember what he said exactly about himself, but I remember lots of questions feeling left unanswered. Which is part of the fnv experience of course... But, in this case I just couldn't even look at Victor standing outside the Lucky 38 without feeling bad. And now seeing him rolling around Goodsprings it's bringing back some of the sadness

I know part of the fun of FNV is creating your own ideas, roleplaying, deciding how to take situations where it isn't fully fleshed out or the constraints of the game are showing. So idk, I hope maybe I'm thinking about it all in a certain way, and maybe I come across or reason out another way to think about these Victor questions in my current playthrough. But for now he's a bunch of unanswered questions to me.

I'm rewatching s1 again and I think it's so fucking funny how much every other doctor except nine absolutely hates guns. nine is SO excited to shoot that goddamn dalek. he is READY he is DOWN he is soooo for it. he points a gun at rose tyler and doesn't even think about it until she scolds him for it.

and then in bad wolf where he's incredibly comfortable about holding that big ass blaster. never gets onto jack about parading around with them either. just does not bat an eye. in fact he is threatening people with it, even if it is a farce.

The thing with the Tholian Web and Jim's dying message is that it's like "haha see Spock and Bones can't work. together at all Jim needs to always keep the peace even when he's dead" except there's a shitton of episodes previously where something happens to him and they've always managed somehow. I could buy this plot in s1 maybe but by the end of s3 it's kinda... eehhhhh
