It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover is a powerful and emotional novel that explores the difficult subject of domestic violence. The story follows the protagonist, Lily Bloom, as she navigates her own personal history with abuse and her current romantic relationship with Ryle Kincaid, a successful neurosurgeon with a turbulent past.

What makes this book truly exceptional is the way that it dives deep into the complex nature of abuse, and the many difficult choices that victims must make in order to protect themselves and those they love. The author does an excellent job of creating a nuanced and empathetic portrait of Lily, showing her as a strong and capable woman who is nevertheless deeply affected by the trauma of her past.

The novel is well-written and engaging with a plot that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I raced through this book in about a day.

The romance between Lily and Ryle is both passionate and complicated, and the tension between them is palpable throughout the story.

Throughout the novel I began to really understand the victims of abuse and their decision making. I started to love the two main characters as I got to know them and even though my mind understood the awry situation they found themselves in, my heart did not want to budge in loving them all.

Overall, "It Ends with Us" is a beautiful and powerful novel that explores an often-taboo subject with sensitivity and grace. This book is for everyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the often-devastating effects of domestic violence.

In my opinion a must read.

The drink I would recommend for this book is a Tequila Manhattan this variation on the classic Manhattan made with tequila, sweet vermouth, and bitters represent the protagonists’ search for connection and understanding. The two main flavours perfectly accentuate the duality of her feelings she has to work through and the struggles she has to overcome.

EPQ artefact piece.

This painting was inspired by the book 'It Ends With Us'. The painting is done in acrylic, Posca pens and was done onto pages from the book itself, which I had glued onto a canvas. The face shows an afraid expression, unsure on whether the hovering hand is there to comfort or harm her. You can see not all of her face is filled in due to the fact that at that point in her life she feels empty and not whole.

Done on A1 canvas.

July 21, 2022 • Thursday Just finished this book a few min ago, i must say that I'm very satisfied with the ending, with every plot in the story from the beginning until the end, at first i though this book was all about jealousy between partners, abusive relationship and nothing more, no changes between them, but it's not. If you could do anything and know for sure you wouldnt fail, what would it be?

I would be a mom. I want to have kids some day, but I dont want to be like my mom, and her mom, and her mom, and every mom in the family. I want to hold a child in my arms, wash my childs hair with the baby shampoo, cut string cheese and grapes, draw outside with chalk, show them nature. And If I have a daughter I want to introduce her to the wonders of womanhood, teach her about tampons, and give her advice about romance, and hug her when she has her first heartbreak. And I want to help her pick out her prom dress or whatever she chooses to wear, and if she has children give her advice about her pregnancy, and hold her hand during labor. And I want her to visit when shes older, because she wants to. Not out of guilt. And ask me for advice and we still be close because I didnt mess it all up. And If I have a son, I will teach him to respect woman, and not hold in emotions. And I would have a husband who never leaves, and is a great dad. My daughter would know how she deserves to be treated and would have positive men in her life and my son would bond with him over whatever they would bond over. And if my children are queer, trans, enbd, etc. I want to teach them to love themselves and have no need to come out because I never assumed their sexuality and they know I love them no matter what. I dont want to be toxic, making them fearful, or angry all the time, carry hate for me or themselves. I dont want to make them feel bad about themselves and feel unloveable. But if no other in woman in my family managed it, how can I?
