zak brown hater anon here and heheh. I can’t explain how happy I am seeing Zak Brown look of disappointment after the race. Literally giggling and kicking my feet. I think I’m thriving. McLauren and RedBull were pretty equal but of course McLauren had batter pace at the end. Honestly I’m not mad about this race but also not too happy because this is a triple header. As a McLaren hater I pray on their downfall but as an Oscar fan if they must be successful I hope he’s the one winning.

ANYWAY, while I’m here I guess I’ll talk about the recent drama with Mercedes. My personal opinion, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time but I think Mercedes wasn’t pushing Lewis aside. Did they make questionable decisions? Yes 100%. But at the same time I don’t think they’re purposefully disregarding him just because he’s moving to another team. He’s been with them for years and while I heard Mercedes didn’t offer a promising deal to him in the end it was up to him. Lewis is getting older and it’s his career. Like what he said in DTS to Toto that Toto can continue being in the sport but he can’t. That’s just not possible.

It’s great progress that Mercedes is finally picking up the pace but I do not think the reason the car “magically got better” is because of the recent drama. Some people may have been joking but to those being serious, improving a car does NOT take a weekend. It takes weeks- months- even until the end of the season- to improve the car. We have seen that over the past few races Mercedes have been increasingly faster and a better race pace but it is not because of Lewis and his fans saying he’s being sabotaged. They are still a team and they have their morals and competitiveness- they want to win- why would they push it all away just because their driver is moving to another team?

One thing to note, I do think the social media admin was feeling a bit goofy and was not paying attention to Lewis as much as George. In one way, it’s reasonable with their standings but in the last few races I think it became apparent that the admin is just not paying attention to what’s happening with Lewis. So I understand people’s a very towards that.

I think it’s important to factor in that most of this escalated mainly because of the fanbase. And it kinda disgusts me how everyone is joking (and agreeing with the person who wrote the email) about the email that proceeded to defame the crew in Mercedes (especially Toto and George). If there were any members that WERE against Lewis, I believe it still shouldn’t excuse putting it up against the entire team because then it’s punishing the entire team for a few people that might not even hold important positions to make a difference. (In this scenario I’m talking they aren’t on the same level as who’s on the pitwall). Everyone saying “oh, car is better and not f**ked because of the email” is kinda bs. I will say Mercedes is now making sure they equally support both Lewis and George on social media but on track, the car was always the same. Strategy made the difference and you can argue that George gets the better strategy than Lewis but in the end they are a team. Whoever is in a better position to gain more points will receive the better strategy.

Lewis will always be Mercedes champion but it also doesn’t mean Mercedes can’t win without him. I’ve seen some recent tweets defaming George and- hate him all you want- but he’s a competitive driver. He may not have the skills to make up for it like Nico, but he’s consistently gaining experience and has shown his growth. A good example being the amazing start in the Spanish GP. Yes, he complains a lot, but don’t all drivers? People forget George looks up to Lewis and even if their relationship may have changed over their years as teammates it does not change that Lewis was and still is his role model.

anyone can disagree with me on this ofc. You can think Lewis gets the short end which is totally fine (I can understand your points, don’t get me wrong) but at least do not praise the email for defaming multiple people that might not even be involved if there is anything happening behind the scenes. I love Lewis and I was giggling and kicking my feet seeing him on the podium. I’m super excited to see what else Mercedes can bring to the table and try to fight for wins in the upcoming races. I’m a max fan but Lewis is really close up there (funny, isn’t?) so I can’t wait to see them fighting on track again soon. I feel like I my lifespan extends whenever I see them together on podium and fighting on track.

Like after his comment on how lando could be winning championships if they had the best car, the visceral and pure need that arose in me to see him swallow his words, literally none of u will understand how deep it went😭. Moving on to the mercedes drama, I've already made so many posts abt it, but ur ask summarises my opinions perfectly (as always🫶🏼). The main thing pissing me off is the fact that some fans genuinely believe that email, or if they don't, they still joke abt the things that were being said in it. Like, do they not understand how VILE the whole email was?? It literally accuses george of SLEEPING WITH HIS BOSS, says they're plotting to KILL LEWIS, and then makes the most indirect threats against George's own wellbeing. That's absolutely batshit crazy. There's no way anyone should believe/ joke abt that.

As a young POC girl (and just as a fan in general), I literally adore lewis, but the fact that when he was asked abt the hate george was receiving, he just chose to brush it aside and say how 'he's never heard of it' rlly got me irritated. Like, at least tell ppl that any kind of hate, in general, towards any driver is just straight up wrong❌️ and should not✋🏽 be a thing they do.

Anyway, fans that r saying lewis ended up on the podium bc they finally stopped sabotaging his car after the email are just a new level of delulu. I won't even explain this because no f1 fan needs an explanation on how long cars take to be built/ adjusted🙂. Also, in the end these comments are just taking away from lewis' efforts, bc despite the shit car, he STILL managed to put it up on the podium (tho the car rlly did seem to suit this track)

Overall, I personally (none of u need to agree with me) think merc is NOT sabotaging lewis (why would they, the team needs points so bad😭) but they ARE acting shit towards him, especially the social media team.

indicating that bachira is here to pick you up. you sprayed on some perfume and opened the door. welcoming in the sight of him dressed in a comfy loose jeans and a plain white shirt, along with a pairing Celine teddy jacket in textured wool, of course, a designer's.

he greeted in the sight of you, completely taken away, you look so pretty, so cute, all dolled up just for him. "look so pretty f' me, baby," he grins, giving you a chaste kiss. "and you, as well, bachi." letting out a giggle, you quickly enveloped him in a hug, taking in his vanilla scent, finding comfort in his embrace. he quickly wrapped both of his arms around you, bending his head down to nuzzle it in your neck. taking in your scent aswell.

it wasn't long before he got back. "let's go now, yeah?" "HELL YEAH!" you cheered. the both of you went to the claw machine, failing to get one for yourself, bachira had to meddle himself in. winning the bunny plushie plus sized you've been eyeing. another claw machine, and another. a smile garnering the both of your lips from ear to ear.

after that, bachira got out of his way to put the won stuffed toys at the arcade.

As soon as he pulls into the driveway and puts the car in park, she quickly grabs her purse and gets out, slamming the car door behind her. She unlocks the door and enters the house, her heels clicking fast as she walks upstairs and goes to the bedroom. “BABY!” He yells from the bottom of the staircase. He unbuttons his black blazer and throws it on the couch. He then loosens up his white long sleeve button up shirt and finally follows her upstairs when he hears her cries.

He opens the door to your master bedroom slowly.

“Baby I’m sorry.” He said softly, standing at the entrance of the bedroom. “I know I should’ve told you about her, I just didn’t think I had to ‘cause we weren’t doing anything crazy.” He said apologetically as he walked over to the bed. I’m the active Zack brown hater anon from a while back and some hot takes from me is that people need to understand that drivers can fight with each other!! (And fans need to stop babying drivers…) Maybe it’s because I’m used to seeing fights from players in other sports but one thing I think if very hypocritical of people is that if you want competition you need to understand there WILL be fights. You can’t hate on drivers winning all the time and then say they’re a hypocrite when they fight with other drivers or their teams because they lost out on a win. If you want F1 to be like any other sport every fan, (mostly the new one’s but not everyone) needs to understand they aren’t family. They will always be “coworkers” at best but by default everyone are rivals and fighting for a title, yes, even their teammates.

I think I’m mainly upset at this because of the recent backlash at many drivers. One with Carlos taking out Albon. It wasn’t at all Carlos fault it was simply bad luck yet people are acting seriously that Carlos won’t get that Williams deal. This isn’t a sport where oh no we won’t sign you because you did something to our current driver. F1 teams will always think about their future, not about the little family fans think everyone is (I’m looking at you McLauren…).

this now is a side note but people couldn’t handle Max pushing Esteban or George, the fanbase doesn’t understand players in a sport will always be competitive and have the right to be angry! (Even if they may be wrong in the moment, but I’m not specifically saying Max was wrong in this context)

F1 is a dangerous sport in all so every driver has a right to be mad at each other all in all if anything happens on track. It’s good they aren’t out right brawling and I’m happy there is not but I also think fans should not baby the drivers when arguments happen (with fellow drivers or their team…) Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Neighbours 1952  

propaganda and politics in the 50s animations

Normal McLauren made the film Neighbours after his trip to China for social work. He developed empathy for the Chinese people during his trip. When he came back to Canada he found that Canadian people did not see China in a good light and there was war tension between communist and capitalist countries especially because the Korean war was going on. Another issue during the 50’s was segregation and gentrification, where highways were built as walls to separate wealthy and poor people in neighborhoods. Neighbours features two men sharing a pipe happily and taking turns smelling a flower. However, they were not satisfied with sharing the flower, so they fought each other for it! The two men push, shove each other, build walls and destroy each other's houses. They even kick and beat each other's wives and children with pegs. Just look at this picture with a women laying dead on the floor and the man ready to slam the baby into the ground like he’s about to throw down a sandbag. 

So much was lost over a measly flower. McLauren has illustrated men's nature to fight over the things that they want and the lack of sense that leads to war, conflict and casualty that destroys neighborhoods.  

Neighbours was filmed in 16mm Kodachrome film stock. It is a cheaper film to save costs which is great because their technique requires a lot of film. Norman McLauren used pixilation animation which means he took pictures of people doing actions to create the animation. They would set up a camera, have the men hold the pose, then take two photos (animation is typically shot on 2 frames).  The same animation principles used in traditional paper animation applys to this technique. An example of timing and spacing is at 2:28 where the two men are sliding and skating around the grass. The space the men move between the photos at the start is small but progressively, they reposition a larger distance than they did in the previous photo. The effect is the two men slowing skate at the start then speeds up dramatically. Another interesting sequence is at 2:31 where the two men dive towards the flower. The start of the dive has some blurry frames of the men unlike the rest of the sequence which has clear shots of the men. The photo must have been taken when the men were moving instead of holding a pose. This blurry effect is like smear frames used for super-fast actions. I’m not sure if it was intentional but it fits perfectly because the dive starts out fast with large spaces between frames and then slows out to a stop with smaller spaces between frames as they approach the flower.

The coolest thing about Pixilation animation is the special effects. It can do special effects like fences popping out magically as seen in 4:02 where the man walks in a line holding a single fence and the other fence pegs pop out behind him. 

The film Neighbours was not appreciated in Canada. It was shown in NFB art house theatres and distributed by Columbia pictures. The theatres, distributors and audiences in Canada were not impressed. American theatre distributors did not like it either, they deemed it “too gruesome and of a poor technical quality”. However, a man, Mayer Kingsley took it to 35mm to show in New York 1952 and persisted to book the Translux theatre alongside O Henrys full house show starring Anne Baxter and Marilyn Monroe for several weeks. From there Neighbours qualified for academy awards Oscar nominations, found critical acclaim in France and UK, won an Oscar and won the Canadian audio-visual preservation trust masterwork.
