America Chavez asking if Peter shot webs out his ass has to be the funniest line in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And the fact that Dr. Strange doesn't know if he does makes it even funnier.

a/n: can you tell how much I adore angst? Idk how i feel about this one, but i kinda like it??? Hope you’ll enjoy <33
summary: Stephen finds himself in a different universe. He goes to the Sanctum Sanctorum where he meets someone who’s been long gone, you.
pairing: Stephen Strange x variant!reader
word count: 1.8k
warnings: hurt no comfort, angst
Tumblr media
The darkness around him felt heavy, oppressive, almost surreal. He was in New York, but it was nothing like the city he knew. Silver moonlight broke through heavy, dark clouds showing him even more of an atrocity that he wasn't able to see at first. A few mockingbirds were sitting on a dead tree, they tried to sing, but the sound that came out was almost like screams of tortured souls. This universe was rotten down to its core, even howls of the wind were dreadfully unwelcoming. He was pretty sure that he got stuck in an empty universe with no one to help him.
He walked through vacant streets wondering what happened to this place. All of the buildings were destroyed, with no grass on the ground, only dirt. Street after street of abandoned houses drowning in the darkness of this world looked the same. Each house was once a home, a home belonging to a family and now there was only hollowness and coldness. If there was hell he was sure that this was exactly how it looked like. The closer he got to the Sanctum Sanctorum the quieter the world got, even the wind seemed to be gone. When he finally saw the building shivers went down his spine, he had never seen so many dead birds laying around one place. He was never the one to believe in bad omens but this one made him want to turn around and run as far away as he possibly could. The dead bird is considered to be a symbol of discontentment, loss, grief and hopelessness. They also symbolise that the place that you're in is unsafe and he was aware of that. He looked at one of the birds lying next to his feet and noticed something on its crown, a symbol that he has seen only once before, in the book about the darkest magic. It looked like whoever did this was in possession of the darkhold and what was even worse, knew how to use it. He took a few deep breaths and walked towards the doors. If there was a way for him to come back to his universe it was through objects and books from the Sanctum. As he approached them the smell of rotten corpses was unbearable. Whatever was inside was probably as vile and wicked as what was outside.
Before he was able to push the door open, a portal appeared underneath him causing him to fall. He hit the wooden floors of the building's hallway. He immediately stood up ready to fight the person that opened that portal, but he was alone. His only companion was the silence that allowed him to hear his shaky breath. Much to his surprise, he didn't smell the corpses anymore but the sweet, familiar scent of paperwhites. He decided to follow it and as he did he entered the living room that looked just like the one in his New York except it was messier. He looked around and found plenty of ancient magic books tossed around the tables, some artefacts and a few weapons. What got his attention was a small frame laying on the floor a couple of metres away. It looked oddly familiar. He wiped out the thick layer of dust that revealed a broken glass underneath which was a picture of you and him. He was always happy while being next to you. No matter where his life was taking him as long as you were near he felt safe. Tears formed in his eyes, in his universe you were gone, you sacrificed yourself for the universe. Another version of him probably went through the same loss. Lost in the memory of you he didn’t hear someone coming down the stairs.
“Hello, Stephen” this voice, the one he would recognize anywhere, yours.
His eyes widened, you looked nothing like he remembered, you were tired, no, exhausted. Dark circles were under your fatigued eyes. Your face was sickly colourless, almost corpse-like. He was carefully analysing your features. He didn’t even realise that a sad smile formed on his face. You walked towards him and for the first time in this universe, he felt comfortable.
“y/n,” he said, trying not to break down in front of you. He missed you dearly. Back at home, he thought about every possible way to bring you back or at least to let him say goodbye. He tried to touch your cheek but you stopped him by grabbing his wrist. That’s when he noticed your fingers. They were black, cursed by the magic of the darkhold.
“Why?” he asked you.
“There was no other way” you stated. Before you were able to continue you got interrupted by coughing up your blood. “Fuck” you mumbled to yourself.
“It’s killing you,” Stephen said, it was obvious how concerned he was. You weren’t his, but he couldn’t bring himself to act like he does not care.
“I know” you responded.
“Then why? Why are you using the darkhold? I’ve seen this world… it’s almost dead” his voice was a little shaky.
“Because as I said there was no other way” you don’t remember the last time that you said anything and considering your health condition it was a miracle that you still were able to do so. “We fought against Galactus, we were losing. If we’d lost that day the whole multiverse would have paid a horrible price for it. You absorbed the power of all six infinity stones just to buy me a little time” you chewed on your lower lips nervously as you felt tears filling up your eyes. “You distracted him and I tried to trap him in a pocket dimension but he was too powerful already. I managed to do so but…” you took a deep breath.
“But even the spell from the darkhold wasn’t enough to keep him locked up. You have to protect it” he finished your sentence.
“Yes, that’s why I look like this” you turned your head and felt disgusted as you saw your reflection in a window.
“Did… I leave you?” he asked anxiously.
“In a way,” you said and he felt his heart stop. How could he leave you knowing the price that you had to pay for keeping the multiverse safe? “You couldn’t handle the power of all the infinity stones. I killed you and destroyed all of them except for the time stone” you explained. “I kept the time stone so I can be here and protect the spell” you continued.
“You’ll be here until the end of everything?” he tried to touch you again and this time you allowed him. The feeling of his palm on your shoulder made you grin.
“Yes,” you sighed knowing that all that you can expect is pain and suffering.
“You don't deserve this, you deserve the world. That’s not how things should be for you” he said, his voice shaking.
“Where am I in your world?” you asked and just by the expression on his face you knew the answer “Sometimes we need to put ourselves aside Stephen. I’ve had plenty of time to learn about the multiverse and us. In every universe, one of us, if not both, has to deal with eternal sacrifice. I wish it wasn’t like that, I wish there was at least one version of me and you living a happy life” you smiled at him. “But I don’t think it’s meant for us”.
He would love to say that you were wrong but he’d be lying. He was trying to remember if he ever dreamt about you laying in bed playing with his hair and not having to deal with any sort of threat. His dreams were always the same, either you or he were dying.
“Can I ask you about this picture?” he pointed at the frame he found earlier.
“That was the day you proposed. We went to my favourite restaurant in Italy…” you closed your eyes and gulped. “I miss my Stephen, every day. Being here all alone isn’t helping with that, but trying to change anything is just a pointless resistance to the destiny” you coughed again. “I miss you too. I mean my version of you. I had all of you and then none of you, in just a few seconds I lost everything. I didn’t even get to say goodbye. I watched you die and I couldn’t do a thing about it” he said.
“I’m so sorry” you gently cupped his cheek and looked into his eyes. After a moment of hesitation, you placed a gentle kiss on his temple.
“You came here because you need to get out, right?” you said. You could read his thoughts, this one was buried deep down, almost hidden. Not from you, but from him.
“I don't think I want to” he responded.
“I can help you” you stated. “I know a spell that can open a multidimensional portal. It will send you home” shy smile formed on your lips. “How is your universe?” you asked.
“It’s beautiful. I wish I could show it to you” he grabbed your hand. “Leave this universe, leave with me, please” he was practically begging you.
“If that was an option for me I’d do it ages ago. If I leave and the spell breaks…I can’t afford that risk. I’ve carried the burden of the darkhold on my shoulders and I’ll do it for as long as I’ll have to. You see Stephen, everyone in the multiverse plays a part. I wasn’t born to be happy and have my little, sweet, dreamy life. I was born to suffer, take burdens and cause destruction. That’s how it is, was and always will be, all so the others can live in a peaceful world. The same goes for you” you sighed. “You're not meant to stay with me. My death was an absolute point in your life and yours was an absolute point in mine. We can not change it.”
“I know,” he said. You walked towards the large windows and within one swift move of your hand, you created a circle out of candles. He walked into it and stood next to you, your bodies inches apart. “I want to try something,” he said and pulled you into a kiss.
“Thank you” you wished you could keep the warmth of his lips forever. “Once I start we won’t have much time left. I want to say goodbye”
“This is our last goodbye, isn’t it?” he asked.
“I’m afraid it is” you answered and he nodded. Dark mist filled the room and you began to cast the spell. His eyes weren’t leaving yours until the light beam blinded him.
He was on his earth surrounded by so many people and yet he felt lonely. Then he noticed something in his palm, a paperwhite from the sanctums living room on the other earth, a symbol of hope.

Maid of Honor [|] Stephen Strange x F!Reader
@lucywrites02 this is for u
Tumblr media
part 2
Summary: Stephen goes to Christine’s wedding, where you’re the maid of honor.
Warnings: Mild MOM spoilers (it’s literally just the wedding in the trailer), fem!reader, flirting, weddings, Stephen-typical swearing
Rating: PG
“Doctor Strange,” someone called softly. The voice came like a dream, and the hands that touched his shoulders felt like heaven. The way you said his name was clearly informal, no matter the title. “You should sleep soon. C’mon.”
“Oh, Y/N,” he groaned in exhaustion, “I just have to finish this report. Go home without me.”
He felt lips brush against his. “I would, but I can’t leave without my favorite man in the whole wide world. That would be inhumane. What if he can’t drive himself home?” You leaned against the back of his hair, letting your fingers play with whatever they wanted.
Stephen smiled as hands ran through his hair. “I really do have to finish this, sweetheart. You can go home and get some well-deserved rest.” He closed his eyes and wiped his face. “Don’t let me keep you, Doctor Strange.” He looked up at you, and he felt a foreign hunger, a yearning in his soul.
“Well, you’ll have to start coming home with me soon, Stephen.” You crossed your arms, your beautiful wedding ring glittering in the light. He sat back in his chair as he admired you. You noticed and very softly added, “In the near future, J won’t be able to drive.”
His eyes widened. “…Why?”
You beamed. “I have foot surgery soon.”
He sat up again. “What? Why did you say that as if—?”
“—As if I was pregnant? To see how you’d react. Nice to know you were disappointed.” You laughed, kissed his head with sympathy, and then once more on the mouth. “I’ll go get my stuff.”
-- -- --
Stephen bolted up in bed with a scream. He was drenched in sweat, his face felt too warm, and his heart wouldn’t stop beating. It wasn’t a nightmare, but it was all too real. His mouth tingled. His forehead tingled. The tears in his eyes were odd, misplaced. He had no time to be emotional. He looked over at the clock—7 AM. Four hours until Christine’s wedding… four hours to try and forget that he dreamt he was married to his old coworker.
Stephen Strange usually knew how his day was going to go. There were usually two routes: bland, boring, and normal, or big, nasty, aliens from outer space. If it wasn’t one of the two, it was some kind of mashup. Right now, he wasn’t sure if he would choose normal. He would see you again, just like he frequently had over the last couple of months. You’d become a close friend to him, now.
“She probably won’t care about what you look like,” he said, scratching the back of his neck as he found himself wondering what to wear. Just because Y/N had once harbored feelings for him but that didn’t mean anything now. Christine was getting married, so anything could happen. “You’ll be fine.”
He speedily got ready for the day from that point on. He remembered combing back his hair, just the way he used to. He remembered picking his suit out, hoping it would bring out his eyes. Though he wanted to forget that dream, part of him wanted to make it a reality. He was wishing and praying for partnership, nowadays—ironic, since he wasn’t sure he believed in God.
“You’re an imbecile,” he told himself in the mirror. He scowled. The Cloak of Levitation wiped away stray hair and caressed his cheek. He dispassionately waved it away, muttering about something that he couldn’t even remember the moment it passed his lips. He had just opened a portal with his Sling Ring, plastered a smile on his face, and stepped into the church he swore he would behave in. He had to.
He would hurt the bride if he didn’t, and he would completely shatter the maid of honor.
He sat next to Nic West, swapped stories very speedily, and had to hear about how he “didn’t get the girl.” He just breathed in and decided it was best not to answer.
When she started down, he very nearly died. She was so beautiful in white. There she was, wearing a veil, holding flowers, smiling up at the crowds. There was Y/N, too, right there in front of her, glittering in similar radiance and angelic beauty. He hadn’t meant to look at you. He knew it would be trouble.
He couldn’t tear his gaze from you, now.
You mouthed, “Hi, Stephen,” and waved as you passed. It took him a moment to process it, to recover. He waved back quickly. You beamed and then looked forward, taking your place beside Christine at the altar. He wet his lips.
“Wow. You and Y/N?” Dr. West asked. “I would have never guessed.”
“Stranger things have happened,” he muttered, unwilling to tell the truth. He felt terrible for it; it was just one of those things he couldn’t let go of. He couldn’t admit he had been dreaming about her for weeks. They sat down, letting the wedding commence.
It was a beautiful ceremony. It was hard to remember how much his own heart ached while watching the vows be exchanged, looking at the obvious love in each other’s eyes. Stephen couldn’t entirely let go of what had once been, but it was nice to know that Christine would be taken care of at the very least.
His heart was pained, his smile was hard to keep, but he felt closure. She was happy enough to invite him to her wedding. She was happy. That was all that mattered. He could move on and know this was how it ended.
Once the bride and groom made their exit, everyone else started toward the reception. Stephen found himself staring, watching Christine and her husband kiss one more time—he also caught your face, again, too. The best man, whoever he was, introduced himself to you. You shook his hand, told him some response, and shrugged off whatever else he asked you.
Nic West stopped Stephen. “Hey. I think that guy is chatting up your girlfriend. You better go get her, huh?” He gave him a sly smirk.
“Yeah,” he said. His brevity came back from when Y/N had originally waved at him. “I’ll, uh, be back.” He adjusted his tie and stepped away from West. Away from West… Toward you.
“…really sorry, I just can’t get involved with my best friend’s husband’s best friend. That’s too cliche for me.” You shook your head, laughing off whatever the best man had just said. “You’re really nice, Tom, but I’m not into you that way.”
“Had to shoot my shot, didn’t I?”
“I’m glad you did!”
“Am I interrupting something?” Stephen asked, walking up. You jumped and turned.
“Oh, no, not at all!” Y/N replied. You smiled at him. He smiled back. It was new, but it was still somewhat pleasant. “I was just taking care of something.”
“It was a surprise to see you getting asked out,” Strange told you. “How are you doing?”
“I’m doing the best that I can.” You gestured for him to walk with you. He did as told. “Recently I tried to get over somebody; it didn’t really work. You know how it is.”
He stopped for a moment. He did know that. He also knew what it felt like to start falling for a woman in his dreams. “Yeah, I do. But it doesn’t matter anymore, does it?”
“No, it doesn’t.” You moved a strand of hair out of your face. “Even though it was the same man since I was working under you.” You laughed. “I’m not just some kid anymore. That’s crazy, isn’t it?”
“Very,” he replied, his throat going a little dry. “Do you want to go to the reception together? Maybe dance?”
“Sure!” You beamed. “I would love to. Hey, Doc, are you okay? You look a little sweaty.”
“Of course, I’m okay.” He was not. “It’s just been so long since I saw you last.” A whole week. So long. He offered his arm to you and you took it. “I knew you were going to be here, but I didn’t know you were going to be beautiful. In fact, I didn’t know you could outshine the bride.”
“I’m not buying anything you say, you know.” You gave him a look. “Enough of your flattery.”
“I don’t flatter, I tell it how it is.” They swayed a little as they walked. “Besides, seeing you like this? Think about how I feel!”
“Oh, I think about you all the time.” You stopped, flushing. “Sorry! That sounded a little weird, didn’t it?” You cringed.
“Not at all.” He laughed. “You’ve always been so caring. I didn’t deserve it at all.”
“I was also in love with you for a long time,” you reminded him. A wave of heat fell down his spine. “I shouldn’t have cared that much back when you and Christine were in cahoots.”
“I should have cared about you more.” He let his smile fall and tried to be serious. Y/N caught it, and mimicked his expression. “As it turned out, you were a staple for me. I still dream about you, sometimes. Too often…”
“That’s sweet.” You sheepishly looked away. “It’s a shame things didn’t work out between you and Christine. I actually thought for a minute that you’d come back in and sweep her off her feet; object at the last minute, you know.”
A topic change. It was just what he needed.
“Why would I do that?” he asked. “I haven’t been in Christine’s life for nine years. Charlie was. I’m not that big of a douchebag.”
“What?” You gaped. “No one said that! Stephen! I was just commenting on your lack of drama. You’re a sorcerer and you fly and you fought Thanos, but you can’t swoop in and save your lady love!”
“She’s not my ‘lady love!’” he scoffed. He shook his head. “I haven’t dreamt about her for months. If I was hurting over her wedding, I wouldn’t have come.”
“But you’ve dreamt about me?” You smirked.
He’d been trapped.
“…Yeah. Yeah, maybe.” He kept his expression neutral. “Once… or twice.” He shrugged. “I see you on a regular basis; it’s only natural.”
“Oh, yes.” You leaned your head on his shoulder. “How often do you think about love? Don’t weddings make you wonder when you’re going to find the One?”
“They make me wonder about all sorts of things.” He set his hand on top of one of hers. “Like whether or not marriage is even in the cards for a sorcerer who happens to have a history in neurosurgery.”
“Any girl would marry you.”
Stephen scoffed in good humor. You picked your head up and flashed your most mischievous smile. “Oh, easy for you to say. You’re biased.”
“Am I? Why is that? Remind me, Stephen.”
He rolled his eyes. His brain was working faster than he could process. “You all but said you hadn’t gotten over someone from our hospital days, and that you had been in love with me—”
He paused. It began to sink in the same second the words passed his lips. You were in love with him. You were still in love with him.
“There it is,” you sang softly. You didn’t seem thrilled. “Now you know.”
“Oh, my God.”
You pulled your arm away from his. Stephen felt millions of pieces click into place. He had no idea what he felt, but there was no dread or need for rejection. It was light, bubbly, fizzy. Painfully pleasant. He turned to you in an instant. “I’m sorry. You weren’t ready for that, were you? Not at Christine’s wedding…”
“Oh, my God, you’re in love with me.” He gently took a hold of your shoulders. “I—I can—I never—You—”
You put a hand to his lips. You looked around, watching the hall empty around the two of you. “Just forget about it. Alright? Forget it. I’m the maid of honor of the bride you’re still in love with.”
He shook his head fervently. “I’m not in love with the bride!”
“Well, you aren’t in love with me.” You gave him a knowing look. “I’d know. You kind of like to take control of these types of situations.”
“Y/N, please.” He did a small turn, not sure what to do with himself. What was he supposed to say? “How many times have you said this? How long have I been such an idiot?”
“Since we reconnected.” You shrugged. You seemed so nonchalant but his whole world was crashing down in splendid pieces. You began to smirk. “So maybe a year now. I’m glad you’re smiling like that. I almost believe you about not being in love with her.”
Stephen, with extreme caution, pressed his forehead to the top of your head and left it there for a moment. “We’ll talk about this later, but I…”
You hugged him back. “I hope you’re happy to hear that, Stephen. We can talk all about it later.” You rubbed his back before pulling away. “You are happy, aren’t you?”
“I am.” He had no idea what his face looked like. His dreams seemed closer to reality than ever, and he was elated. “Trust me, I am so happy.”

Neighbor Next Door- Doctor Strange/ Female OC
18+ | Minors please DNI
Summary: anna had always thought the doctor next door was attractive. and one interaction left her itching to get more of him.
Tags: age gap (25F & 40M), cheating (but not in the way you’d think), strong language, smut.
Prologue
Tumblr media
anna made her way through the crowd currently gathered at her apartment as someone rings the doorbell not once, not twice but five times now and she was starting to get frustrated.
she opened the door with an annoyed huff and raised a brow as she came face to face with her neighbor, stephen, was it?
she never admitted it to anyone, but she thought stephen strange was probably one of the hottest men she had ever laid eyes on. sure, there was a 15 year age gap but it didn't bother her in the slightest.
her heart immediately picked up pace as she leant against the frame with her arm, flashing a sweet smile, "hey neighbor.”
"hi" stephen responded awkwardly, clearing his throat. anna was dressed in a tight bodysuit that clung to every curve of her body, her neckline a little too deep. and despite being married to christine palmer, it took effort to maintain strict eye contact with the girl in front of him.
anna previously had a hoodie over that bodysuit but she’d lost it somewhere after she got a little drunk.
"um, listen" he started. "i don't mean to interrupt what's going on but it's past 11, and it's starting to get a little too noisy and me and my wife are having quite the trouble going to sleep.”
anna’s smile dropped a little when he mentioned his wife but she blinked up at him innocently.
"is that so?" she responded innocently, checking her phone. "oh gosh, i'm so sorry, doctor."
she tried to sound a little sultry at the end, with a lopsided grin.
she was a little tipsy, okay, maybe extremely drunk and it was difficult for her to get a grip on herself when pure hotness was right there in front of her, interacting with her no less.
stephen had no change in expression, so she figured she didn't come across sultry at all. "yeah so," he started. "i mean, i know it's a saturday night and the last thing you need is a 40 something year old man telling you you’re partying too loud. but if you could turn it down maybe just a little bit, we'd really appreciate it."
"no, i totally get it,” anna said. "you’re a doctor. you work incredibly hard and long hours. and so, i can do you one better. " she left the door open and stepped back into the apartment.
she grabbed her phone and turned off the music, causing everyone to groan loudly in protest.
"alright, alright" she reasoned loudly, rolling her eyes . "it's getting too late. everyone, get out!"
everyone protested and stephen stepped in, shaking his head. he approached anna and she caught a whiff of his cologne.
wow, this man really smells like sex on legs.
“hey, that's okay, that's not really necessary" he whispered softly and anna shook her head and gave him a wink.
"i remembered i have to get up early for like, a funeral or whatever" anna announced casually. "so everyone please, get out. unless you wanna help me out with rent day tomorrow. grab whatever alcohol and snacks you want!"
stephen sighed softly as everyone began to leave and he smiled softly over at anna “you really didn't have to."
“yes i did" she giggled softly, causing his smile to grow. her stomach flipped at having finally gotten a reaction out of him of some sort. "doctor strange shows up at my door with a request and i don't comply. now, that would make me a shitty neighbour, wouldn't it?"
anna could see the crease form between stephen's eyebrows as she said that. he didn't know what to make of that statement but the woman in front of him was clearly drunk so he decided it meant nothing.
he just let out a soft laugh. "that's sweet of you. and please call me stephen.”
anna smiled and nodded as she walked him out. "if you say so. but i like doctor better."
again, weird comment but strange let it slide. they eventually said goodnight to each other. and anna leant against the closed door, a grin on her face as she let out a dreamy sigh.
sam walked over to anna and flicked at her forehead, causing her to glare at her best friend.
"wake up, princess" he warned sarcastically. "there's a passed out stoner on your couch."
anna glanced over at a guy passed out on their couch in the oddest pose possible, his mouth wide opened as he drooled and snored, the last person to have stayed behind after everyone left.
"are you sure pot was the only thing he was doing?" she chuckled softly before shrugging. "it's okay, let's just let him crash. i'll see you in the morning?"
“yeah okay" sam shrugged and downed the last bit of his beer. "and you're gonna have to tell me all about whatever the fuck just happened with the doc from next door."
. . .
a/n : ok so this is my first doctor strange fanfic ever! i honestly don’t even know if anyones gonna read this and i’ve never written a fanfic on tumblr before. but i’ve been having a lot of fun writing it and i just wanted to post it on here to see if there’s anyone else that would enjoy it just as much as me!! i don’t have a schedule yet for uploading. i just wanna see how this prologue and the first few chapters do! i might also edit tags later! i will add information regarding any tag edits if that happens. but i don’t think it would be anything too big. please please let me know what you guys think if you read the prologue! and any advice on formatting or generally the fic would be much appreciated! 🥰
(also i’m probably gonna be interchanging neighbor and neighbour a lot bc i grew up with both so bare with me please!)
