...Hang on a minute.
So, we were thinking about plurality, and somehow (it's the ADHD) this lead to thinking about that one convention where Sir PTerry wore a hat (or not) in a way that was functionally equivalent to a fronting indicator and everyone at the con went along with it (good!), which lead to thinking about the Discworld character(s?) Altogether Andrews and realizing that:
Altogether Andrews is definitely a plural system, just not called that in the text; and
Altogether Andrews is a system name (none of the people/personalities inhabiting Altogether Andrews are named "Andrews"); and
The other disenfranchised characters who hang out with Altogether Andrews don't make any sort of big deal about it.
Was-- did-- how-- Did Terry Pratchett know a plural system? Is it plausible that Terry Pratchett was plural and most people never knew?
This feels like the same sort of one-two punch to the face as when we simultaneously came across the "gilt by association" pun and had to confront "does Terry Pratchett use puns? Has Terry Pratchett been using puns all this time and we never noticed???"
*pouring salt in a circle around us and banging on the gates of heaven* Hey, PTerry, can you come out here for like, five minutes? We just have one question. PTerry, please, just one question?

Making urology class jokes in my DnDads S2 fics will never get old to me. Sorry. It’s so fucking fun to casually slip in phrases like “at-home open nephroureterectomy”

Sometimes having a brain feels like owning a pet. It needs to be tricked into doing things, I need to figure a way to understand it since it often doesn't use words, sometimes it gets scared of nothing and I have to sooth it, and also I need to play with it else it gets bored and moody.

So, seeing a random thing on the dash about how folks who try to make amends and grow from past mistakes are better than those who dig up dirt reminded me of a post I saw a while back about callout posts. I wound up giving my onion on that one on one of my sideblogs. It was about how callout posts don't do anything but hurt people - they tend to punch down, gang up people on somebody, will be based on rumors and conjecture more than fact most of the time, whip people into a frenzy and sometimes even if the allegations are true, just don't really do anything. (And when not true or needlessly hurtful, cause real harm). I had this whole spiel about how that happened to me in one of my fandoms - how a private fight confined to Discord snowballed out of control and in conjunction with me having bad mental health times and a personal spiral led to someone who was only tangeitally involved, but who was a fandom bigwig in a small subfandom-of-a fandom doing a tumblr callout post instructing the entirety of the subfandom, including people who weren't on Discord and weren't involved to shun me / called me an emotional predator / insinuated that the suicidal ideation that I was posting on my own personal blog (that named no names, it was just me whining and expressing a very precarious mental state) was fake... And how that drove me over the edge into... need for hospitalisation. The sub-fandom, for the most part, still hasn't forgiven me, despite any and all attempts to approach and make amends. Even just leaving everyone alone never did anything. It was three years ago, so everyone's moved on and I met new people in that fandom and have since, recently, moved on to a new-old fandom of mine that means much more to me (I've been into a specific anime / manga since 2001 and a recent reboot renewed my fandom) and is overall a much more chill fandom. So, it's not really a big deal anymore. It's just that I still have some wounds from it. And that thing I just saw about people bettering themselves and moving on made me think of the whole mess. I've never done a callout post.

half-written RP posts I'm not willing to trust discord to hold onto if it crashes or my computer restarts
kaomojis I like to use a lot but which aren't in the standard selection you get when you press Win + .
does anybody else have a discord server thats only yourself and nobody else exclusively used to send images from your mobile phone to your tablet or computer

gonna get on a soapbox for a moment to remind everyone that nothing will teach you more about how to do something than Doing The Thing. you need that experience and practice if you really wanna figure it out. and that means you need to learn to be okay with being bad at things. you will suck at things at first. this is what we call a learning experience. it's normal and it's necessary.
everyone's sick of hearing it but you gotta practice. practice practice practice practice practice. practice doesn't make perfect, but it makes better, or at the very least easier. if the only thing stopping you from doing something you want to do is that invisible concrete wall of "but what if i'm not good at it," here is your express permission to go forth and be really fucking bad at it. i am throwing you a rope over the wall from the other side. Do The Thing.

Interesting body feelings are happening.
And. Interesting situations happened in the last few weeks that May Need To Be Addressed.
Also. Unfortunately/fortunately(?) IRL friends have found A Blog of mine that I was partially addressing things on and now I am nervous about it. At the same time. I do not want to hide it from them? But also also. History says hide that. Hide it away from everyone. Including all parts of yourself. Do not look. Turn away and continue on.
But more and more, that is not working very well? And I know it is a flavour of disfunction and 'probably need a doctor about it' but.... well Fear. And the worry it is a lie. The worry it is uncaring, unkind, and false.
Disappointing reality~ ah well. Been there before, will be again, it will continue on eventually
New things have popped up that have never been. At least not in the flavour they are now. As far as I know.
Interesting choices. Admonishments.
As said, it will continue on eventually. Things continue regardless of if the choice to keep pace is made. Catch up is always a game that is on the table.
