I need him carnally, as in i need to wake up next to him everyday and gaze at his lovely, soft face, touch his pink-tinged cheeks, trace the length of him arms and play with his soft hair. I need to feel his arms around me and all the care and love in the world vibrating through his very essence. I need to look deep deep deep into his eyes and see his pupils dilate and touch his bottom lip with a delicate finger just to witness the reddening of his skin, the way his full lips tug around the edges. I need him carnally as in i need to touch his bare chest with my palm and feel the rhythm of his beating heart beneath the pads of my fingers in an attempt to experience what it’s like to be alive. I need his soft hands cupping my face as im crying, to feel his lips kiss all my tears away.

i got my pathology results back at my one week post-surgery appointment with my oncologist yesterday and all the margins looked good with no evidence of lymphatic spread, which means there's no need for radiation or chemo atm - instead i'll be having imaging done every three months to watch for any recurrence and we'll go from there 🙃

I've been able to handle the post-surgery physiotherapy sessions without social anxiety or crying, in the open gym area where it looks like I'm the youngest client there as a 30-year-old among stroke patients and those with the more geriatric kind of issues. Got another session in an hour.

But it just sank in after the March 9th surgery (surgery no. 2 out of 2) that I can't wear my fave dresses anymore, which have the usual kind of shoulder straps. I declined a wedding invitation where I know I would very likely break down among hundreds of people. Some hours ago I walked past my swimsuit, hanging at the side of the bathroom door, which is in my line of vision everyday except I didn't actually notice it and tbh forgot it was there till just now. And I'm gonna miss it, and miss the cool dresses that made me feel good at birthday outings and such. The swimsuit has my fave colours, but it has firm straps. The skin is too thin above the collarbone of my affected shoulder since I no longer have even and natural muscle padding in that area at all due to the failed and necrotic graft. So...firm straps are a no-no.

i'm a clinical assistant! also sometimes called a clinicians assistant or CA for short (: when you go to the doctor, we're the people who will take you to your room, maybe take your blood pressure/other vitals and whatnot for the doctor! we're also tasked with cleaning rooms, handling paperwork, and other things, but those are the big parts!

i'm also trained to do front desk stuff as well, as in handle insurance stuff and patient intake paperwork (which i hate both of these so much and would literally much rather clean blood out of bed sheets lmfao)

i'm currently working here to save up to go back to school (thanks covid) to get a degree to be a radiology technician (: if all goes well, i can specialize in targeted radiation therapy and work for an oncologist, or maybe i'll just be a traveling rad tech and end up in europe somewhere which would be dope.

anyway this turned into a bit of a ramble but uh yeah (: thanks for the question! i'd love to dive into more medical stuff if anyone's curious!

My dad has cancer. He's almost certainly going to be fine -- it's prostate cancer, slow-moving and very curable. I've known for a while, but he posted about it on his much-more-highly-read-than-mine blog today, so I think he's okay with the public knowing now. The way he's dealing with it is so classically his side of the family: learning as much as he can about the science behind the illness and the treatment and finding as much humor as possible in the situation.

I don't know if he realizes how acutely I understand that a joke about how humiliating or awkward something is is still, at its core, an admission of how much that thing hurts. I know he's got an 85% chance of being physically A-OK from prostate cancer after the treatment he's about to undergo, but even if he's zesty as an orange bodily afterward, I worry about his emotional health.
