Scions with a WoL who Gives Bear Hugs

Alisaie

Alisaie will gripe, groan, and maybe even resist when she sees you’ve returned. She’d rather die than admit she enjoys your hugs. But when she’s there, there’s no fighting; she just leans in as she grumbles.

“For Twelve’s sake! No! Noooooo! Get away from me! N-Stop! Ugh! Fine!”

 Alphinaud

Little Alphy is the most bashful when it comes to hugs. He gets all blushy and tries circumventing them with a handshake or “welcome back.” Never works. But even he knows that once you’ve got your arms around him, there’s no use resisting.

“Welcome back. How was your adventure? Oh, no. I’m fine, really. Wait. Hold on—nope. We’re doing this. Aha. Welcome back. I’m glad you’re safe.”

 Estinien

Actually, this guy is the most bashful when it comes to hugs. He will straight up curse when he sees you walk in. Might even draw his lance to keep you at bay. But if you catch him and manage to hold on for a few seconds, he’ll give. He won’t hug back, but his will to escape will die partially because he actually loves it but take that secret to his grave.

“Oh hells. No! Stay back! I’m warning you! I won’t—No! Get off! Uuuuuuugh!”

 G’raha

G’raha is wholeheartedly excited when you return. He wastes no time in setting his work aside to greet you. He revels in the tight embrace, happily rubbing a cheek against you and his tail swaying happily you know, like a cat. He’d probably purr if he could.

“You’re here! Welcome back! Ahaha! Aye, it’s good to see you again.”

 Krile

Sweet Krile enjoys your returns. She’s simply accepted that you’re a hugger and will return the gesture happily. No muss no fuss here.

“Welcome back. How was your trip? Did you enjoy it? I’d love to hear about it.”

 Lyse

Lyse gets herself all riled up when she notices you return. The girl will actively stand and run at you, unless inappropriate in which case she will power walk to greet you. She absolutely loves your hugs.

“There you are! Our grand Warrior of Light! Bring it in! There we go!”

 Tataru

Another casual enjoyer of hugs. She’ll excuse herself from her conversation and head towards you with a little pep in her step. Once she reaches you, she’ll hold out her arms, expecting her hug.

“Excuse me just a moment. There you are. Did you enjoy your trip? You’ll have to tell me all about it. But first, my hug!”

 Thancred

Thancred enjoys a hearty hug. He’ll try not to show his eagerness and patiently wait for you to come to him, but once that happens, it’s arms out and hug time. Will still mock you over it though.

“You’re back? Oh very well. What a needy person you are. Ah, wait, no. Come back here. Give me my hug, dammit.”

 Urianger

This man is probably the most difficult to get a hug on. The instant he has an inkling that a hug is coming, he mysteriously slips away. However, poor Urianger is only graceful enough to pull this off about 15% of the time. The rest the time, he actually manages to draw more attention to himself. And once caught, he suffers the consequences of his ineptitude.

“Ah, w-well met, friend. Aye, ‘tis good to see you as well. Your travels were well then? Please unhand me.”

 Y’shtola

The prickly mage heaves a great sigh whenever you return. While she may long to continue her studies or the tasks at hand, she knows if she doesn’t put them down willingly to embrace you, you will get in her way and may even disturb her work. Would also purr if she could.

*Sigh* “Very well. Come. Let us get this over with. Excuse me? Get over here. I will not have you sulking over a simple hug. There. Welcome back, Warrior.”

 ~Overall~

Overall, your hugs really aren’t a bad thing to the Scions. They all enjoy them in varying amounts, whether or not they admit it. In fact, it’s become such a staple in their lives that at least once or twice, they’ve thought back to your embrace in times they’ve struggled. It’s a motivator—to keep pressing on until they see you again and suffer your hug once more.

1. Which character(s) is your apprentice romancing? What attracts your apprentice to them?

i initially envisioned alexis with julian and that’s still their main route but VALERIUS ROUTE WHEN DEVS

alexis is attracted to julian’s dramatics and spontaneity, but also the softer side he hides beneath the bravado. also the chest hair 10/10

valerius...mostly because they’re wine buddies lmao. i think this is a case of opposites attract, in that alexis wants to show valerius how to have fun but subconsciously craves some stability in their life

plus im just gay for wine man lmao

2. If your apprentice was a romanceable character in The Arcana, what would their route be like? (Feel free to be as detailed or as vague as you’d like.)

there’s a lot of violin concerts you’re being forced to go to. also fighting assholes in the street

you’ll also help them at least deal with their fear of losing themselves and hopefully calm them down a little bit

5. What are some of your apprentice’s minor and major fears? What’s the best way to comfort them when afraid?

as i said their biggest fear is losing their sense of self, so they do anything they can to feel like themselves. this includes questionable decision making just because it’s “in character” lmao

they also fear drowning cause they can’t swim!

as for minor fears, they’re scared of mice and gore

Hi! Your hey brother video was amazing! My friend and I want to cosplay Lup and taako, and we love your video, and I was wondering if you had prelim sketches of them in their IPRE get ups?

Aa! Thank you! Yes yes yes~ I pulled out my old sketchbook for this one - 

Early on I was playing around with the idea of having Taako have top-heavy silhouette and Lup having a bottom heavy one? In the end Taako got a longer coat, but it was still shorter than Lup’s. This gave room for him to get a longer cloak in the “present day” and mimic Lup’s silhouette a bit more towards the end.

Ignore the fact that Lup has… suddenly shorter legs in this one. I was just screwing around with shapes so I didn’t bother to fix it at the time. I don’t know where that line on Taako’s robe went in the design? It was a relatively late removal as it’s still there in some of my frame thumbnails. Don’t know why I made that decision. This is also before I decided that Lup flashes a bit of t-shirt around her neckline to tie her to Barry design-wise too.  

I found a few more early sketches, but those were a looot earlier as I was throwing design ideas at the wall and was trying to figure out how Taako’s “coat over robe” scenario was supposed to work. I’m ssssure I have more somewhere but I have a feeling they are on scrap paper which. I shouldn’t do that. 

Obviously things changed in the final even from these!

Hi! I love your animations on youtube! I'm trying to get into animation and I have adobe animate and i find it very frustrating. What do you use or what do you do for yours?

hey!! I’ve never touched animate myself but ive heard its just rebranded flash...? right? which i used once eons ago and hated every one of the short seconds i did use it. i’m no help at all with animate. 

my stuff that’s on youtube i believe is all either tv paint of after effects? but right now I specialize in toon boom harmony. It’s the most versatile program I’ve used that’s still cooperative! and the student licenses are very cheap if you can get one. it has a 14 day free trial too but i’d say it takes much longer than that to learn to use it comfortably, even when you’re familiar with similar programs.

if none of that works for you, photoshop has the animdessin plugin for cc and cs6 (i think you need to downgrade your version of cc if that’s what you use) that a lot of my friends use and praise to no end!

Working on a small new story

Maybe a dnd thing idfk at this point. Need guild names and tasks.

Grass Roots Guild: A guild that is full of mostly powerful people with a focus on helping the common folk and guarding the crossroads/highways/etc. Requirements: Be fairly powerful. Be sensitive to the plights of the common folk. Have a cool head under pressure. Have good judgement. Be kind.

The Gold Leaf: A merchant's guild who manages a universal trade system, for the standardisation of cost, pricing, and value across the nations. Probably also a mob. Contains many variable people, from farmers and smiths to spice merchants, middlemen, and nobility. You simply have to own a business or sellable trade to join. If it is a mob, which it is not, there are secret, secondary requirements.

Find the Word Tag Game.

I was tagged by @maramahan to find the word dark.

I was worried I wouldn't find anything, but I did!

I could never have imagined that, one day, I would have these cobalt carriages at my beck and call. Stepping past the horse, a dark brown creature, I pull open the equally dark chestnut door. The driver, who is sitting behind the carriage beneath the balloon, nods to me. I reply with a small wave. Holding up my skirt and ducking my head, I step inside. The floating hansom bounces much like a boat on the water. With a snap of the driver’s reigns we depart towards the docks to meet my so-called father.

I’ve been playing recently as my WoL I headcanon as about 17-18, and I had the thought about how indignant they would be when Alphinaud and Alisaie get their elezen growth spurt and grow way taller than them.

Well @melodymeddler, I assume you're playing a Miqo'te but so are most of us or maybe a Hyur or Auri female in which case, yeeaahhh.... If you're also Elezen, a Hrothgar, Viera, Auri male, or Roegadyn, then maybe not but who knows. If you're a Lalafel, then no. Everyone's already taller so fuck it. More shin to target.

Anyway, I doubt they would make it easy to deal with regardless of your patience.

Alisaie will hold her tongue, but the moment she notices she's getting taller, she starts acting like it. She walks straighter, purposely reaches for higher objects, etc. But she won't say anything or tease you until you make the first move. It doesn't even have to be about height for her to suddenly start holding things over your head, literally. She will inevitably grow out of this, but you're going to have to rethink your strategy if you plan on winning any arguments with her for a year or two.

Alphinaud on the other hand, is practically oblivious to the fact he's getting taller. Up until someone mentions it. Then he does the same (walking taller, reaching high things, etc), but he will never use it against you. On purpose anyway. If you lunge without warning, he may instinctively hold whatever object he has out of reach, but not to spite you.

All in all, good luck when that happens. But if I remember right, you still have like 8-9 years before that happens. So enjoy the height while you can.

This is an NPC from the campaign that i am in, (please check out @meddlesomedungeons), her name is Julia, and I actually created her character, (because i wanted my character to have a girlfriend damn it).  She is a fighter, and a very good one.  She is an elf, who grew up on a small island and is very protective of her younger sister.

These are the two outfits I kind of imagined for her, the first one is what i imagine her in during the actual campaign, and the second one is a post campaign outfit, where things are more causal.
