It seems the chemical compound can stop some of the damage done to the brain that's usually associated with the disease.
In particular, researchers noticed a reduction in the interleukin-1-beta (IL-1β) protein, which helps to regulate the body's inflammatory response – a response that can offer natural protection but one that leads to harm when it's not controlled properly.
The team behind the study says it shows the potential for particular smells to be used as therapies for Alzheimer's. If we can figure out which odors cause which brain and immune system responses, we can harness them to improve health.
Here are the pair of mons I redrew last month that are based on a pepper’s ability to make capsaicin and another based on a mint’s ability to make menthol.
Here's a video from my YouTube where I talk about them.
Plants make these kind of chemicals to deter some species from eating the plant too much; however, to larger animals, these chemicals might not be enough but would still leave a certain taste. Capsaicin from peppers fit in the heat receptor of many animals, making them feel hot while mints’ menthol fit into cold receptors. Even though the temperature hasn’t changed, these chemicals can make some animals feel hot or cold.
Capsol (Grass/Fire): Some recipes use Capsols’ chemicals to warm the consumer of the dish even in the coldest of days. Most do not disturb Capsols because the chemicals they spit can create a burning feel even when it is not hot.
Minter (Grass/Ice): Others avoid Minters in cold regions because they secrete chemicals that make others feel colder. The touch from a Minter can make anyone feel chills even during the hottest of days.
Posting Menthuribles cool-as-fuck shiny seperatley so I can talk about it more.
I wanted an early Ice type and needed a design that wouldn't seem out of place if it was encountered away from any snow or ice. Mint is regarded as being a "cold" flavour so an early plant mon could work nicely.
I was side-tracked by spearmint, taking that literally to design a chevalier but I wanted a special focus and struggled to incorporate an aromatic aspect into the design.
Messing around with head shapes I gave it a pointed snoot and realised I could make it a plague doctors mask, since they were stuffed with herbs. Then I added the incense burner (a thurible) to expand on that theme since I guess it was fresh in my mind after playing Blaspheous 2.
Incidentally this is the second fakemon i've designed for Tresto that swings a big thing around but the first to be completed and whilst it's also the first i've shown off to use the move Aromagic, it's a move that was made for something else. It's already stolen two peoples thunder.
