Okay I really need to clarify, I do not think MEOMI meant this to be Selva officially. They didn't even mention the lizard creature's name. I just found it funny how they're both reptiles with similar color schemes. Maybe Selva's character designers took inspiration from this artwork, idk

A tribute to the Octonauts OC that got me into the community:

Fawna The Merdoe.

Fawna was originally posted on DeviantArt back in late-2016 by @jade-green-butterfly (just wanted to say THANK YOU! sorry for the mention x-x). By the time I first found my way into the community (well, just to look around, I never posted anything at the time) on my Surface tablet in mid-2017, I also had a secondary interest in mermaids (well, of course I do, I STILL do.), and to me, this deer was PERFECT. To me, it was the best of both worlds, and in the end, I stuck around for years to come. I’m glad I did.

I have to admit, Fawna The Merdoe might as well be my BIGGEST inspiration for my Reclaimed By Nature and Sunken World mermaid AUs. Yuma—the coyote on the right—appears in both of them, so I figured they deserved a tail as well to celebrate (this is their sunken world design, in which case I still gotta work on that AU).

It’s March 2024, it’s been nearly 8 years since Fawna appeared on the interwebs, and I still love her.

Octonauts Desktop Wallpaper, released in June 2004.

This is the first art Meomi released in this set that includes exclusively pre-introduced characters, and is nevertheless one of the earliest art for the Octonauts brand overall. Interesting details include the air balloon-esque contraption they’re riding, Shellington using a spyglass/telescope instead of his signature magnifying glass he’s seen with in future art, and Kwazii’s name being written in its finalized form in the description of the piece (when it was originally “Kwazi”). Shellington is also referred to as “Dr.” in the text, which isn’t a common title he’s attached to, just like Kwazii with his Lieutenant title.

Oh heres some octonauts worldbuilding theories/ headcannons I have

There was certainly a nuclear war before the Octonauts was founded, considering the fact that Tweak and her father are green and glow in the dark, it seems her families genes were affected by nuclear radiation several generations ago.

Their technology is clearly more advanced than ours, and it makes me believe that there was a time (long before ours which will probably happen in the future) where their world used unrenewable resources, which caused environmental catastrophes (especially to the arctic animals) and caused a dip in the population, (which explains the 'emptiness' or lack of other anthros) forcing their society to use renewable resources, which although some countries are still using oils and plastics, society is gradually switching to sources more helpful to the environment

Octonauts Desktop Wallpaper, released in January 2004.

This is the first art Meomi had ever released of Captain Barnacles’ final design, and the Octonauts brand overall. Interesting details include the fantastical plant designs beneath the character, along with the emphasis on the Octopod being “a secret base” in the description of the piece.

A common reoccurrence in pre-animation Octonauts content is Captain Barnacles’ lack of a full uniform. He wore minimal clothes just like the other characters throughout all older MEOMI art, including the original books. It’s unknown why this change was made, so for now we can assume it was simply to complement the voice actor’s performance and the overall importance of the character’s role.
