🌧 midnight rain : are they a morning bird or night owl? sunshine or rain?

I decided to do all seven Osmond siblings. No one can stop me.

Michael is definitely a morning bird, but also a definite preferrer of rain.

Sariel is a night owl through and through, but prefers sun.

Raziel is a night owl that prefers rain.

Daniel would like to say he's a morning person, but he's actually, like, a mid afternoon person? He prefers sunshine.

Camael moved to London of his own volition. King likes rain. He's also a night owl.

Sedakiel is a mid afternoon girlie who loves the rain.

Dina likes to say she's hardly a person at all, though she's more acquainted with 3am than, say, 6am. She likes rain.

A/N: this is happening separate from the canon of the new book, a bit divergent from the canon of the trilogy as well. ALSO, i know it's been months, i'm SO SORRY...i got some medical issues on my hands that are solved now, so I hope this is worth the wait

also, I don't remember if Oak had hooves as well or just the little horns, but in this fic he has both.

Mine! No, mine!

The Fae Folk is not prone to change. And yet, multiple changes surveyed their world in the span of a few months. Their king died, the royal family butchered, the drunkard Cardan – out of all people! – became king and, after a brush with war against the Mer Folk, Jude Duarte became his queen.

Queen of Elfhame. Jude didn't know what to make of the title. She figured out how she feels about other titles in her life: Seneschal, she quite liked, having hidden her true influence at Court in the shadows, spy gave her a thrill for sure, but never without the dissapointment that came with it after failing to be a knight, wife, after a long time, she accepted with an embarrasing leap of her heart.

But queen, that she has yet to figure. It wasn't part of her plan. And, even though she learned to cheerish the gift of Elfhame as it accepted her in its heart without guilt or shame, even though she could see how much her husband thrived under the crown, Jude simply couldn't make peace with the title. It wasn't hers. Nor Cardan's. In her mind, it still belonged to Oak, hers and Cardan's both baby brother. Because that was the plan!

The more she looked at the little fae, playing with Cardan in the garden – jumping over his tail as if it was a skipping rope he used to love in the mortal land – the more Jude begin to doubt the plan.

"Hey, Jude," the young fae called out of breath, excitement overcoming the tiredness. "Look what I can do!"

Oak bounced from foot to foot over the lazy slash of Cardan's tail in the air, turning around and switching sides in a chaotic, funny dance. The Queen of Elfhame felt the corners of her mouth twitch despite herself. She approached the pair, coming to rest her arms on her husband's shoulders as he hug him from behind.

"That's impressive, Oak!" She said, ignoring the way Cardan's hair tickled her neck as he leaned his head back to look at her. His beautiful, deadly wife.

Cardan smiles up at her, reaching his fingers tentatively to brush over Jude's cheek. The movement spelled her, for Jude leaned into his touch, closing her eyes to enjoy the serene calmness of the moment for what seemed to be the first time in her life since arriving to Elfhame.

"Mmm," Cardan mused happily. Leaning even more to press a kiss to his right below his wife's chin. His focus shifted entirely on Jude, forgetting all about Oak and their game.

"Hey!" The young fae protested. "I wasn't done. Jude, you have to see this. Vi showed me humans dancing like this."

"Of course, Oak."

Jude pushed her husband's shoulder playfully, if only a little bit too harsh – force of habit, she supposed – pressuring him to humor their little brother.

With an amused roll of his eyes, Cardan obeyed. "Anything for you, my cunning queen."

Heat climbed all the way to Jude's ears, pushing her heart to beat faster than she could keep up with.

Oak resumed his little skipping dance. It looked more and more put together by the second, Jude noticed now that she was paying attention. Or trying to, at least. But Cardan could never miss an oportunity to touch his wife. He never quite believed that luck shone mercifully over his head in earning Jude's affection. And now that no threat loomed ovet their heads and the land claimed her as its queen and she didn't need him, Cardan needed the physical reassurence that Jude meant it when she confessed to loving him more than ever.

"You look esquiviste, as always." He pured, trailing his hand up and down the back of her neck.

Redder than a Redcape's bloodied cape, Jude snaped her glare down to Cardan. "Stop that," she snarled. "Oak..."

"... is taking a lot of your attention lately."

And it was true. The weeks following Jude's official coronation, she invited her family to stay at the palace. She couldn't bare the nauseting feeling of not knowing where they are, if they are safe. And having them so close under her nose was easier than sending the Roach or the Bomb to spy on them.

"Oh? Is that jealousy I hear, my king?"

And just like that, Cardan's semblance of control faded into nothing. He would never admit it, but being king has been something he cherrished, despite the dire circumstances that led to and conditioned his reign. He liked the mind games the Court required of him and all the ways he discovered he could help and protect Elfhame without shedding blood or lifting a sword. Hearing the title fall through his Jude's lips in earnest love and admiration – more than he could have ever hoped for – untied any thread of decorum he sewed.

Cardan stumbled over himself as he rose in one hurried jump to cup his wife's face in his hands. An indignat huff from Oak, however, put a stop to the kiss he meant to share with Jude.

"Cardan!" The kid complained. "You had Jude all day yesterday at the meeting. Let me show her my game!"

"Later, kid," Cardan grumbled.

"Now!" Oak countered, stomping his little hooved foot, crossing his arms and leveling Cardan with all the authoruty he could muster.

The High King was having none of it. He moved behind Jude, wraping his arms around her waist and his tail all the way up to her calf. He rest his head atop hers, fully taking advantage of his height. And stuck his toungue out at Oak.

"Jude's my wife."

"She was my sister first!" And with that crying battle, Oak marched towards the royal pair. He stomped onto the fluffy end of Cardan's tail that rested on the side of Jude's foot, trying to free his sister from her husband's grip when the latter yelped and retreated in pain.

Cardan recovered swiftly, though, and grabbed Jude's arm before Oak could pull her away. "Go play, kid."

"Isn't the time of your noon drink?"

"You little..."

"Alright, alright, that's enough!" Jude, who so far has been watching the scene with an awed amusement settled on her face, broke free from her boys. "How about I spend some time with Oak now and you," she waved dismissingly at Cardan, "put together one of those surprise dinner dates you're so fond of for when Oak falls asleep?"

The High Queen of Elfhame didn't let out any space for arguments, despite her tone being inquiring. The rest of the day would go exactly as she said it would. Because, truth be told, she wasn't Oak's or Cardan's, they were both hers.

Fått hem Julia av Sandra Newman, kanske äntligen får svar på mina spörsmål. PM's Love Theme från LA går igång när jag går mot Café Linné och det enda jag ser i huvudet när ögonen bländas av solen är den på den tiden skitsöta TBS som skriker JOANNA genom inte en transithall men en annan typ av hall på Heathrow eller Gatwick. Vad handlar livet egentligen om, om inte just det, att få skrika någons namn.

Bacon-wrapped monkfish roti served with red wine sauce and seasonal vegetables

The monkfish, which has a lot of water and protein, is dipped in Saumur to tighten the meat, then wrapped in bacon to complement the umami and cooked. Sauce terre et mer Sweet shrimp consommé is used as a base, combined with jude poulet, red wine, shallots, white pepper, and a crisp red wine sauce

Jag såg Fortini/Cani av Danièle Huillet och Jean-Marie Straub (1977) på cinemateket i våras, som jag uppskattade trots att den saknade textning mer än halva tiden. Njöt av de vackra miljöbilderna och de brottstycken text (Fortini läser ur sin text) som jag lyckades uttolka som, om inte kontroversiella, så i alla fall rätt komplexa. Började läsa boken först när jag var i Milano.

Franco Fortini (1917-1994) skrev under sin mors efternamn, då det var för riskfyllt i Mussolinis Italien att bära pappans judiska namn Lattes. Fortini var författare, poet, kritiker, marxist och en del av den italienska nya vänstern. The dogs of sinai är ett uttryck hos nomaderna i El tih (Egypten), norr om Sinaiberget, som betyder att man är en försvarare av härskarna eller att man tar vinnarens parti, och skrevs efter 1967 års sexdagarskrig mellan arabiska länder (initialt Egypten) och Israel (skapat av tvång och krig). Kriget väckte en anti-arabisk våg, parallellt med stöd för Israel.

Fortini berättar parallellt om sina upplevelser som jude i fascistiska Italien - han konverterar till kristendom i ett försök att undvika fascisternas attacker, trakasserierna mot familjen och hur judar avskräcktes att upprätthålla kontakt med varandra - och rapporteringen om judar i sin samtid. Det är alltid någon annan, någon annanstans som beskriver ditt öde, du ska bara framföra det.

The response of manipulated opinion has made me understand to what degree we are reduced to using world events with the same puerile carelessness that we employ with ‘products’ – to consume them (p. 11).

Han ser en återgång ske och pratar om en ny sorts anti-semitism, den förra var den hans familj upplevde under andra världskriget och fascismen.

In practice–in the practice of laziness–I had accepted the absurd idea that Jewishness, anti-Fascism, resistance and socialism were contiguous realities (p. 20).

[...] against these people one will never be ‘antisemitic’ and ‘racist’ enough, if these adjectives are synonyms of ‘enemy’ (p. 30). (jfr m Carl Schmitts vän och fiende)

Ett av bokens ärenden är att kritisera sammanblandningen av judendom och Israel; motstånd mot förföljelse är inte synonymt med försvar för staten Israel, motsatsvis är inte motstånd mot Israel uttryck för antisemitism. Den moderna antisemitismen:

[…] is ‘a passionate effort to realize a national union against the division of society into classes’, it is ‘a mythical, bourgeois representation of the class struggle’ (p. 34).

Antisemitismen kan enbart finnas i kollektiv med en svag solidaritet som förenar starkt strukturerade pluraliteter - social pluralism. Detta menar han är vad Adorno och Horkheimer talar om i Upplysningens dialektik ‘Elements of Anti-Semitism’ som en generalisering av antisemitism, som något utbytbart, och denna universella kraft att ersätta specifika krafter till en enda, “identical abstract form of labor” “leads progressives and reactionaries to a generalized ‘rage against difference’” (p. 35).

Democratic egalitarian ideology becomes the broth in which breed a thousand ‘denials of the humanity’ of one’s neighbour. Racist or anti-Semitic ideologies of the Nazi type disappear because  they serve only outdated nationalisms. The spirit of anti-someone irrationalism is the response to the total dispossession of individuals, it is the contemporary form of the irrationalism and the nationalism that were consumed along with Hitler's Europe (p. 37)

Ansluter också till idén om meritokrati som ett försvar för rådande ordning:

Besides, the Enlightenment-Jacobin refusal of historical inheritance leads to the ‘democratic’ bourgeois, to this hypocritical ‘equality’; and in the end it leads to vulgar psychology and vulgar sociology, investigations into the differences among men established on the basis of imaginary identity that is presupposed as once and for all (p. 58).

Han är emot att beskriva nazismen som ren ondska, då den logiska konsekvensen av det skulle hemfalla åt den nazistiska mystiken om förintelsen som rening.

Fortini vill berätta en sannare bild, inte lockas av kortsiktigt tillfredsställande förenklingar och är han är noggrann med att inte begå samma felslut som hans intellektuella motståndare och ställer sig därför kritisk till en stat grundad på homogenitet och nationalism (korrekt?).

Han var med och samförfattade en artikel vid tiden som bla beskrev Israel som partner och proxy för USA.

In front of certain people, to pay homage to the truth is to betray it (p. 12).

Men Fortini är ingen hycklare, han är medveten om att även han bidrar till rasism baserad på biologi (mot kvinnor), kultur (belästa) eller historia (burgoisien och tyskar). 

Fortini diskuterar också rimligheten i projektet att beskriva ett folk och en historia parallellt med sin privata berättelse. Boken innehåller en essä av översättaren Alberto Toscano som berör Fortinis syn på den intellektuella och dess roll i den politiska kampen.

[F]rom the experience of anti-Semitism, it’s possible to discern if you’re willing, the ultimate dilemma of the modern world while from nations and fatherlands you can barely make out the scenarios of the United Nations? (p. 14)

The Green DIY Energy Guide - Varför denna kund rekommenderar det

Så efter att ha tittat runt på nätet efter en bra gör-det-själv-solpanelsguide, slutade jag med att sätta mig in på Green DIY Energy Guide. "Varför?" Du frågar.

Ok, jag ska berätta varför jag valde Green DIY Energy-guiden istället för att gå med någon av de andra guiderna (det finns massor att välja mellan), och några av fördelarna och nackdelarna med det.

Jag var ursprungligen attraherad av Green DIY Energy-guiden eftersom den verkade ha det bästa värdet för sin prislapp, som var $50. Det verkade ge mycket mer värde än de andra liknande prissatta guiderna. Det som stack ut för mig var att det innehöll en instruktionsvideoserie som såg intressant ut. Den enda andra guiden som jag hade sett erbjuda handledningsvideor var Earth 4 Energy, och Green DIY Energy kom med fler videor.

Efter att ha köpt guiden laddade jag snabbt ner alla guider och filmer (den kom med flera olika manualer, några för solenergi och några för vindkraft. Det fanns också olika bonusar, om spartips och biodiesel). Jag var angelägen om att se om guiden var legitim, eller om det bara skulle vara ett gäng fula skrifter och suddiga bilder som verkligen inte skulle hjälpa byggprocessen alls.

Jag blev glatt överraskad över att hitta tydliga, koncisa anvisningar, tillsammans med ett enormt tutorialvideobibliotek. Det fanns sju olika videor att titta på, och var och en täckte olika aspekter av solpanelskonstruktion. De var DIY professionellt inspelade videor och jag uppskattade värden som gjorde ett bra jobb med att förklara och berätta vad som pågick medan han byggde solpanelen. Kamerabilderna var tydliga och skulle komma nära handlingen när han gjorde något mer tekniskt.

Green DIY Energy-guiden är definitivt legitim, jag skulle inte oroa mig för att spendera $50 för den. Om du är intresserad av att bygga dina egna solpaneler, men inte är expert, skulle jag köpa en guide som Green DIY Energy. Dessutom har den en pengarna-tillbaka-garanti, så om det inte fungerar för dig får du pengarna tillbaka. Earth 4 Energy skulle ha varit mitt andra val, så du kanske vill kolla in den guiden också.

Men, vilken guide du än går med, ge definitivt inte upp DIY-solpanelsprojektet! Du kan göra det! Och du kommer inte bara att spara pengar på din månatliga elräkning, utan du kommer att hjälpa miljön genom att släppa ut mindre koldioxid i atmosfären. Du kommer inte ångra att du byggde dina egna solpaneler!
