The Tres Hombres is the only trans-Atlantic sailing freighter without a motor! She is the flagship of Fairtransport and the sailing ambassador for cleaner sea transport.
And here are some shots of her unloading a sustainably sourced cargo (coffee, possibly cacao, though there's also rum in her hold I think):

It seems like a lot of the windjammers made after the 19th century ended that were for carrying cargo or fishing or other actual work rather than being racing boats or pleasure yachts were made in Germany. I wonder if that was because of that landlocked country's ongoing difficulties in acquiring oil.

someone bash me over the head with facts and logic about boats, living and working on them, and the realities of it all. I need cold hard facts and logic, no romanticizing. I can't just keep thinking about it I need to Know What It's Like. Before I venture out to sea. do they have career fairs

September- Working for Adriatic Marine
I returned from Mexico late on August 30 and thank god I had work waiting for me. I had to rush around to get caught up and ready to leave for work on the 1st of September. That only gave me 1 day to get everything done that I could.  Most important was to get a doctors appointment. Urgent need for that. Since I am a merchant marine, I must apply for a license to work from the United States…

Gas Miner
A lot of Merchant Cosmine spacers think a job on a gas mining ship would be relatively safe and cushy, but when they reach a gas giant they quickly find out that everyone has to do a rotation on the dive-prospectors.
