Jaster Mereel's Supercommando Codex - source material

The History of the Mandalorians (2005)

Jaster Mereel, a deeply pious human and extraordinary soldier, immediately noticed a deep-seated dissatisfaction in the hearts of many hard-boiled Mandalorian. As a former Journeyman Protector, Mereel brought a strong ethic that extended far beyond the limited Mandalorian ideology of fighting for credits. His prowess in combat earned him the respect of his peers, and when Mereel fought tooth-and-nail to became reigning Mandalore and unite the disparate clans, his ideals became the foundation for a new creed: the supercommando Codex. Not all agreed with Mereel's ideas, however. Many bloodthirsty and amoral Mandalorians resented him, having enjoyed the unaccountability of their mercenary lifestyles. Among them was the soldier Vizsla, who gathered the dissenters into a splinter group, the Mandalorian Death Watch. Mereel's suppercommandos, in turn, recast themselves as the True Mandalorians, and total war ensued.

The New Essential Chronology (2005)

The Battle of Galidraan marked the end of the Mandalorian Civil War, a conflict between True Mandalorians and the Mandalorian Death Watch that had been sizzling for over a quarter century. Following the Mandalorians' extinction of the Ithullans a century and a half earlier, some clan members had expressed a desire to shed the amoral ways of the "Mandalorian Mercs". Eventually, the charismatic Jaster Mereel came to lead the clans as Mandalore, and set down an idealistic code of conduct in the Supercommando Codex. A Mandalorian named Vizsla attracted followers fond of the old ways, who formed the Death Watch faction. Armed conflict broke out approximately 60 B.B.Y.

[...] When Merel was elected the leader of the Mandalorian Mercs, it was believed that Vizsla decided to split off from the group and form the Death Watch. In response, Mereel declared that his followers were the True Mandalorians. Vizsla tried to destroy the True Mandalorians on Concord Dawn, but Mereel and a small force managed to survive, thanks in part to the efforts of a young Jango Fett. The Mandalorians regrouped, but Mereel felt pressure from hard-liners like Montross to eliminate the Death Watch and reestablish the superiority of the Mandalorians. It was during this time that he created the Codex, the new tenets and canons of supercommandos who followed him into battle. He also appointed Jango Fett as his choice to succeed him as Mand'alor.

Supercommando Codex Entry (vol. 3):

Supercommando Codex This was the name used by Jaster Mereel to describe the set of tenets and canons that he developed to oversee the new Mandalorian Mercs several decades before the onset of the Clone Wars. The codex was created to define the rules and roles of his new supercommandos, in an effort to unite the disparate clans of Mandalorian Mercs under a single leader. Although many followers of the Mandalorian codes agreed with Jaster and the codex, many others - Vizsla and Montross among them - broke away from his band in protest over the new rules.

Galaxy at War (2009)

The roots of the Protectors stretch back to Jaster Mereel's formation of the Mandalorian Supercommandos (Mando Ori'ramikade). During the Mandalorian Civil War of 60-34 BBY, the Protectors' ranks were split into two factions: the rebellious Death Watch and the reformist True Mandalorians of Mereel and Jango Fett. The True Mandalorians met their end at the Battle of Galidraan, but ther moral teaching, embodied in the Supercommando Codex, inspired many back on Mandalore.

The Essential Guide to Warfare (2012)

In the last century before the Battle of Yavin, two new Mandalorian movements arose. The mercenary Jaster Mereel, who became Mandalore in 60 BBY, sought to reinstitute the warrior codes. His True Mandalorians were opposed by mercenaries who argued that the way to restore the clans' honow was to topple the hated New Mandalorians and repay the Republic's savagery in kind. This group became known as the Death Watch.

[...] Other disagreements soon followed. Some of the Faithful, the so-called True Mandalorians, wanted to dictate how all of us should earn credits for ourselves and our families, and they sought to supervise our conduct in a hostile galaxy. The wiser among us understood that in times of war it is only the ruthless - those who free themselves of the traps of pity and vacillation - who survive.

The breaking point came nearly three decades ago, when the Faithful made a terrible error, choosing Jaster Mereel as the True Mandalore. Mereel had been a lawman, a Journeyman Protector on Concord Dawn, until he murdered a superior officer. Wracked by guilt, he concluded that the flaw lay not in his own heart but in the universe. Unable to contain his own passions, he sought to eliminate them in everyone else. His blinkered view of Mandalorian honor would have reduced the Faithful to mere hirelings, helpless against the Faithless.

48. Ik kan dit blog gewoon veranderen in een Animal Crossing blog

Nou, inmiddels is het niet 11:30, maar 18:52.

Korte blogpost deze keer, denk ik. Ook omdat ik zo snel mogelijk terug wil naar Animal Crossing. Ik ga kleding maken en iemand op Discord heeft me blueprints gegeven van pride t-shirts. Helaas geen QR code.

Damn, ik wilde de designs van mijn oude Animal Crossing overzetten, maar ik was vergeten dat ik mijn 2DS in Nederland heb gelaten.

Muziek voor nu is Pride Month. It’s been a while. Normaal is dit juist de lijst die ik het meeste luister.

(Troye Sivan’s Bloom... gaat dus niet over tuinieren. Oeps.)

Dus ja, ik heb niet veel nieuws, want ik heb gewoon mega veel Animal Crossing gespeeld. Mijn huis is inmiddels een opslag. Ik wacht tot mijn museum morgen open gaat. Ik kan tijdreizen, zoals Evelien, maar ik doe alles “by the book”.

Dit spel is gewoon zo hartverwarmend. Helaas is het alleen in het Engels te spelen, anders had ik Bram en Jasper zowat gedwongen om het spel te kopen (weet niet echt hoe, though), want zij zijn de enige die ik ken die het spel niet hebben gekocht. Zelfs de moeder van Merel heeft het spel. Merels hele familie heeft het spel, dus ze steelt constant hun fruit. Ik kan dus niet bij Bram en Jasper op bezoek en hun fruit stelen, want ze hebben geen eiland om te bezoeken en geen fruit om te stelen.

Jongens, doe mee met het eilandparadijs leven!

Jongens, ik had eiland als “ijsland” geschreven! Foute soort eiland...

Dat gezegd hebbende, dit spel is een duur spel. Het is €60 en ik kan begrijpen dat je dat niet snel uitgeeft. Een alternatief is Stardew Valley voor €15, maar dat kan je niet met z’n tweeën spelen op één Switch.

Dit spel is gewoon zo rustgevend. Het is geweldig om te zien en de muziek is relaxt. Je hebt zoveel vrije keuzes en waar anders kan ik eruit zien als een mix tussen een hippie en een verlepte heks? Ik wil alleen nog regenboogjes op mijn wangen toevoegen en dan is mijn Look(TM) compleet.

Dit is ook de tweede dag op rij dat ik voor 1 uur in slaap ben gevallen. Alweer 11 uur slaap deze nacht.

Maar ja, vandaag had ik mezelf gedwongen om iets productiefs te doen, aangezien ik vanaf vrijdag middernacht bijna alleen maar Animal Crossing heb gespeeld (oeps?). Ik ben niet de enige productieve.

Mijn productiviteit was schoolwerk. Nou, het begon shit. Eerst hing mijn computer vast en toen ging de batterij in één keer leeg (van 35% naar 0%), dus mijn computer viel uit. Dit kwam doordat ik mijn telefoon erin had gestoken. Ik weet dat dit ding het niet aankan om meerdere dingen op te laden zonder netstroom, maar ik was net iets te laat met mijn snoer insteken, dus mijn hele laptop ging uit.

Uiteindelijk heb ik alles van B&T doorgenomen. Hij had een 30 minuten lange lecture opgenomen en ik heb zowat dat hele ding getranscribeerd, want hij is die chille leraar die nooit zijn eigen notities toevoegt.

Ook kreeg ik van GLINT de opdracht om de film Kinsey te kijken en er een kort verslag over te schrijven, dus ik heb die film gezien. Toen kwam ik erachter dat de deadline op de 30e is, niet morgen, dus hoera!

(Todrick Hall’s nieuwe album vond ik eigenlijk helemaal niets, want het is overduidelijk dat zijn inspiratie de drag scène was, maar Amen is één van de goede nummers. Nou, ik weet, ik weet, de drag scène is geweldig, maar ik ben geen fan van drag muziek om te luisteren. Dan alsnog, de muziek is eerder gecreëerd voor queer dans.)

De film was oké. Ik ben een fan van Albert Kinsey’s werk, dus ik had meer focus op zijn eigenlijke werk en het effect willen hebben, maar aangezien dit een Hollywood film is, lag er meer nadruk op drama. Drama, drama en zoveel drama. Het had tenminste een mooi einde, dus de film was niet slecht, maar ook weer niet geweldig.

Ik vraag me altijd af wat mensen die worden afgebeeld ervan zouden vinden als ze dit soort films zouden zien. Hetzelfde met musicals, zoals Hamilton.

OH MY GOD, BROADWAY? Ja, ik las vandaag dat er twee shows al niet meer terug komen. Damn, ze zijn nu officieel gesloten “in previews” wegens financiële problemen. Ik had verwacht dat er shows zouden verdwijnen, maar in previews? Ze zijn dus niet eens officieel open gegaan.

En man, Company had vandaag open moeten gaan om Stephen Sondheims 90e verjaardag te vieren. Er is een video gemaakt i.p.v. een mega groot feest, maar damn, dit is Sondheim. Ik zag dat sommigen op tumblr van plan waren om de Sondheim aflevering van glee te gaan kijken voor zijn verjaardag, maar ik was geen fan van die afleveringen (of van dat hele seizoen).

(Taylor Swift’s Delicate is op deze lijst, want ik vind dit oprecht één van haar beste nummers.)

Er is wel nog goed Broadway nieuws! Ruthie Ann Miles is in verwachting en ik heb staan janken van geluk. Ruthie Ann is in 2018 haar twee kinderen verloren in een groot auto-ongeluk in New York. Het was zo erg en ik heb het nieuws op de voet gevolgd. 

Dus dat was het theatre nieuws van vandaag. Ik ga ervan uit dat de meesten thuis hier geen shit om geven, maar... I don’t care.

Nu hebben Kath, Sofia en ik eten besteld bij een Indiaas restaurant. We kunnen nog maar bij een paar plekken Boni bestellen, dus we gaan er ook gebruik van maken. De Finse dudes hadden blijkbaar in de middag daar eten besteld en ze raadden het heel erg aan.

En dat was de korte update voor nu. Om eerlijk te zijn kan je er dus gewoon van uit gaan dat ik bijna alleen maar bezig ben met Animal Crossing 😅😅😅. Deze game had gewoon geen betere tijd kunnen kiezen om uit te komen.

Dus ja, dat is het voor nu. Ik ga hopelijk zo eten en ik heb afgesproken om Merel een heksenhoed te geven in ruil voor een abrikozenboom.

Opdracht 3 Sleutelhanger

De Juan Curi waterval is een van de hoogste watervallen van Colombia met een hoogte van 180m. het ligt 22 km van San Gil en je zou de schoonheid van de waterval kunnen bekijken, zwemmen in het natuurlijke meer aan de voet van de berg of van de waterval abseilen, zoals de kandidaten hebben gedaan. Rik staat op de helft van de waterval de kandidaten op te wachten; “Kandidaten, dit is de waterval van Juan Curi. Een van de hoogste watervallen van Colombia, 180 m hoog en wij staan ergens halverwege. Helemaal onderaan staan twee geldkistjes met cijfersloten erop. De codes daarvan kun je achterhalen door 80 m naar beneden te abseilen en af te tasten. Maak twee groepen.” 

Hoe de groepen tot stand kwamen hebben we niet gezien, maar de twee groepen bestaan uiteindelijk uit 1) Sarah, Sinan en Merel en 2) Rick Paul, Jamie, Niels en Robèrt. Nog voordat team 1 een strategie of iets dergelijks kan bespreken doet Sinan de mededeling dat hij met z’n 130 kg een kans liep tijdens het abseilen in het harnas een knelling te krijgen waardoor er een druk op de borst kan ontstaan. Online kan je ook vinden dat vaak bij 120 kg een disclaimer gegeven wordt dat er een risico ontstaat. Het kan wel, zoals de medewerkers bij de waterval ook zeiden, maar Sinan wou zelf het risico niet lopen. Of dit een molstreek is? Ik denk het niet. Ik vind het juist wel knap dat Sinan dan zegt dat hij niet mee doet. En als mol heb je hier natuurlijk niks aan, want je geeft de regie helemaal uit de hand. 

De kandidaten krijgen voor deze opdracht wat ik gevoelsstokken noem. Op deze stokken zit een patroon van kraaltjes, spijkers en andere opdrukkingen zodat je de stok op tast zou kunnen herkennen. Ze geven stokje B aan Sinan en deze delen de dames dan samen om elkaar extra te kunnen controleren, Merel pakt dan stokje A en Sarah heeft C. 

Niels pakt stokje D, Robèrt heeft A, Rick Paul stokje B heeft en Jamie stokje C. Met dit in het achterhoofd is het vreemd dat Rick Paul aangaf dat Niels met twee kraaltjes meteen weet wat zijn stokje is, en vervolgend de code twee-twee-spijkertje-twee opnoemt. Dit is het stokje van Niels. Dus waarom herhaalt hij die van Niels en niet van zichzelf (dit is nog voordat Niels voorstelt dat iemand het stokje van hem overneemt als hij niet zou durven, of heel goed geknipt). Onderstaande foto is overigens niet mijn foto, deze heb ik van het WIDM forum op widm.nl.

Langs het abseilparcours hingen kokers en in die kokers hingen ook gevoelsstokjes, er waren langs de route dus 6 kokers, waarvan er maar 3 of 4 correspondeerden met de gevoelsstokjes die ze hebben gekozen. De cijfer van de koker waarin jou gevoelsstokje zat, correspondeert met het nummer dat je voor die positie in het cijferslot invult. Het duo Sarah (C) en Jamie (C) gaan als eerste naar beneden. Jamie heeft duidelijk ervaring met abseilen en helpt Sarah goed om vooral in het begin haar ritme te vinden. Jamie heeft bij koker 1 niet het gevoel dat die van iemand is, Sarah heeft meteen het gevoel dat het haar koker is. Koker 2 is voor beide geen succes en Sarah heeft bij koker 3 het gevoel dat die van Sinan is. Bij koker 5 heeft Jamie het gevoel dat die van Niels is, hij voelt namelijk twee kraaltjes (net als bij koker 1) en hij zegt in zijn biecht 2 spijkertjes. Wellicht dat het hier fout is gegaan, want Niels had namelijk van alles 2, behalve van de spijkertjes, daar had hij er maar 1 van. Dan herkent Jamie zijn eigen gevoelsstok nog in koker 6. 

Merel en Robèrt zijn duo twee die naar beneden gaan en ook wordt het meteen duidelijk dat Merel wel weet wat ze doet. Wat handig is, want Robèrt weet dat helemaal niet, waardoor ze hem een klein beetje kan helpen. Robèrt heeft succes bij kokertje 2, hier zit zijn gevoelsstokje in. En maar goed ook dat Robèrt zijn stokje aardig hoog hing want daarna werd het een lastige afdaling voor hem. Doordat hij te verkrampt naar beneden ging bleef hij maar uitglijden en werd het een ongemakkelijke aanschouwing, wel alle respect voor Robèrt dat hij het überhaupt gedaan heeft en beneden is gekomen met zijn koker. Ondertussen heeft Merel ook haar koker gevonden, haar gevoelsstok zat in koker 5, en ook Merel gaf aan dat de stok van Sinan in koker 3 zat, dus dat is een dubbele bevestiging.

Twee keer een enkeling aan de rand. Niels had al aangegeven hoogtevrees te hebben en geeft ook aan spijt te hebben toen hij de rand over was gegaan. Hij negeert dan ook alle kokers, maar haalt het wel naar beneden. Nu kan je dit natuurlijk zien als molstreek. Want ja, je doet de opdracht wel en je bent daarmee een held want je overwint je angst, maar je levert absoluut niks op voor de eindopdracht. Maar ik denk oprecht dat als je doodsangsten beleeft, dat die kokertjes je inderdaad gestolen kunnen worden, dat hebben we bij Robèrt ook gezien nadat hij gevallen was. Voor mij dus niet verdacht.

Rick Paul was de laatste, en omdat Niels dus geen kokers gevoeld had, had Rick Paul de taak het stokje van Niels over te nemen. Een best belangrijke positie dus. Bij een van de eerste stappen glijd Rick Paul uit en hij mist hierdoor de eerste koker. Dat is best een belangrijke koker blijkt achteraf, want of koker 1 of koker 5 was die van Niels, en Rick Paul kon hier de doorslag geven. Hij gaf zelf aan koker 4 te hebben en dat 3, 5 en 6 niet van Niels was. Rick Paul kon dus zo tot de conclusie komen dat in koker 1 Niels zat. 

5-3-1 was de code die de kandidaten hadden afgetast. Sarah voert de code in, en het kistje gaat open. Team 1 heeft €750 voor de pot verdiend. 2-4-6-5 is de code die ze invoeren. En daar gebeurt wel iets aparts, want Rick Paul heeft aangegeven dat hij het stokje van Niels niet herkende in 3, 5 of 6. Niels geeft dit nogmaals aan bij Jamie, maar die zegt toch voor 5 te gaan want hij weet het zeker… en het blijkt fout. 

Verdacht deze aflevering zijn dan natuurlijk Jamie en Rick Paul. Jamie omdat hij overduidelijk de reden is dat de opdracht voor team 2 mislukt is, Niels zijn gevoelsstok zat niet in koker 5 maar dus in koker 1. Maar ook Rick Paul is verdacht omdat hij een perfecte positie inneemt na Niels, enorm goed kan abseilen zoals in het laatste stukje blijkt, maar bij zijn eerste stappen uitglijd en daarom koker 1 niet kan voelen. Echter, moet wel gezegd worden dat Rick Paul dus aangaf zeker te weten dat de gevoelsstok van Niels niet in 2, 5 en 6 zat en Jamie dat compleet in de wind sloeg omdat hij ervan verzekerd was dat het nummer 5 was.

Do her engineering goals ruin the sanctity of the mystical setting? Does having the potential for railways, automobiles, and other trappings of the Second Industrial Revolution take away from the magic inherent to the setting? Is it just too weird to have these creations in the Gr*shaverse even if in theory, and thus provide a solid parallel to real world history instead of the vague fairy tale-style lack of cohesive coding?

Is her blithe, hopeful personality an annoying addition to the otherwise bleak narratives that unfold in K*tterdam, or is it a form of rebellion from a victim who refuses to be dragged down by her experiences? Is he a privileged jackass with a savior complex whose attempts to 'help' others are purely patronizing and tone-deaf, or is she actually the reformer and hope that she aims to be in her attempt to keep others from suffering on the streets as she did?

Is she a lesbian in QPP w Mr. Bastard Man? Attracted to men and pining in silence for one that does not have the capacity to return her feelings? Simply an odd friend of his and her sexuality is a non-issue to their dynamic? Is their early clashing a result of opposing ideologies, or is it unresolved sexual tension? Are people who ship K*z/Merel erasing her sexuality, downplaying his trauma, or just plain racist? Fellas is it problematic to ship two of a man's potential love interests with each other instead?

Minor Place (2017)

With Minor Place, Giorgia Ohanesian Nardin invites the audience to a shared training of the gaze, to generate energy of bodily alliance through a series of practices.

Minor Place is a temporary gathering, a safe space where by entering each person is invited to take a position, to listen through looking, to practice empathy. Minor Place is an invitation to act, a practice of collective exposure.

In order to exist, Minor Place requires the active participation of the audience.

Through a series of simple guidelines, the participants are invited to access the performance space: everyone and anyone can join, with the freedom to decide at any time to interrupt or leave the practice.

Inspired by Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation by Silvia Federici, Minor Place urges to claim a sense of responsibility physically translated, to question the point of view on the codes of fruition of the body.

To do this, Giorgia proposes to act together, to collectively indulge in poetic anatomy, to re-claim a fluid way of staying in relationship with the other.

Per fare questo, Giorgia propone di agire assieme, di godere collettivamente di anatomia poetica, e di rivendicare un modo fluido di stare nelle relazioni con l'altr_.
