Alix noticed it was getting dark, so she swam home as fast as she could and made it to her family’s undersea cave, where her father, Alim, was waiting for her.

“Alix, are you alright? Do you have any parasites on you?” Alim said as he swam around his daughter. He was part pilot fish, so he had a habit of worrying about his shark daughter (who took more after her great white birth mother) and making sure there weren’t any remoras mooching off her.

Alix groaned and pushed her father aside. “Daaaaaaad! I’m not a pup anymore!” She said a little more whiny than she intended. “I just ran into some traffic on my way home, that’s all. Can we eat now?”

Alim nodded and swam over to the dining room with Alix, where his other son, Jalil, was waiting at the table with the prepared food. Well, except for Alix’s plate. Alix took her squid raw.

So while Alix started digging into her squid, she talked about her day with her family, leaving out who she helped today. It was pretty standard stuff, like how Alim mentioned his archeology team at the museum had found evidence of a possible missing link between mermaids and their selkie ancestors or how Jalil had found some more human treasures like a stretchy torture device made of six rings one of his turtle friends gave him.

As Alix washed her squid down with the ink of another, she realized that her brother had some knowledge about humans. “Hey, Jalil? Dad? What exactly do you guys know about humans?” She asked, causing both of them to freeze in place.

“Wh-Why are you asking that? What happened?” Alim asked, worried his daughter’s curiosity (or appetite) would get the better of her.

“Nothing happened! I-I-I-I just wanted to… learn more about them, that’s all. What’s wrong with that?” Alix worried she had said too much.

Alim put a hand on Alix’s shoulder. “Alix, humans are too dangerous. We know nothing about them except that they come from beyond the sea.”

“Well, that, and they can’t live underwater, so they create huge masses of land just to invade our territory and steal our belongings. Thankfully, we got some of their own treasures they just threw away, like this magic box with some humans trapped inside” Jalil chimed in as he took out a blue rectangular object with the label “Canon” on the side.

“Maybe we just need to learn more about humans.” Alix suggested, earning a glare from her father.

“The surface world is inhospitable to our kind, and you could die if you went up there.” Alix flinched in response to Alim’s statement, as she remembered how hard it was for her to simply go a few feet on the surface away from the water. It made Alix wonder how she could ever learn more about the human she saved if she couldn’t get farther than the beach.

“Can I just… Can I go to my room? I want to be alone right now.” Alix mumbled.

“You may, just no thinking about humans.” Alim said as he watched Alix swim away to her room in the cave.

Alix laid down on her bed and thought about the day’s events. She didn’t really get to know the human, but she was still curious about her. Maybe she could try and see if the human was exploring the ocean tomorrow and possibly see her again. But what if that was too much? What if it was a trap? Alix really needed to talk to someone about this the next day.

Chloe walked back to her place, still thinking about her broken surfboard and what could have saved her. She was really worried about how she would explain what happened to her family. They were already nervous about her hobby as a surfing influencer on social media, so finding out their daughter hit a rock and almost bled out at sea and then came back with a bite taken out of her surfboard would cause them to freak out and make sure she couldn’t even go for a dip in the kiddie pool at the resort they owned. Granted, Chloe’s parents always seemed to be busy with something these days, with her mother designing clothes in Paris like a bikini with glitter and her father running one of the most expensive beach resorts in Saint-Tropez, but Chloe was sure at least one of them would show concern for her safety.

Chloe snuck back into her room where her sister Zoe was hanging out. “Hey, you’re back late. What happened?” She asked, making Chloe sigh.

“Please don’t tell Mom and Dad, but I kind of had a little wipeout.” Chloe showed Zoe the seaweed wrapping around her wetsuit.

Zoe gasped in horror. “Oh my God, are you okay?” She pressed her hand against the seaweed-covered area, causing Chloe to wince a little.

“Y-Yeah, I’m fine. It was only a little bleeding, and it’s mostly stopped.” Chloe replied while unwrapping the seaweed, exposing a minor laceration against her side that thankfully wasn’t too deep and could easily be treated at home. She grumbled a little at seeing a tear in one of her favorite wetsuits.

“You need to let me treat that.” Zoe helped Chloe out of her wetsuit, ignoring her sister’s protests. There were times where it seemed like Zoe was more of a parent to Chloe despite them both being around the same age. She took Chloe to the private bathroom in their room and sat her down on the toilet before taking out a first aid kit.

Zoe got out a washcloth and ran it under some cold water. “So how did it happen this time?” She asked while Chloe let her sister clean the area around the wound.

“It’s hard to say. I remember scratching myself on a rock and bleeding a little bit, but then...”

“Then what?” Zoe asked, taking out some antiseptic cream to apply to the cut.

Chloe was at a loss for words for describing what happened next. “You’d think it’s weird.”

“Says the girl whose wound I’m currently cleaning while she sits on the toilet wearing nothing but a bikini.” Zoe retorted with an argument that Chloe didn’t really have a rebuttal towards.

Chloe figured she should just come out and say it, no matter how weird it sounded. “I think I was saved by a mermaid.” She blurted out.

Zoe stared at Chloe like she had a colony of bees in her hair. “A mermaid? Seriously?"

“That's what I saw!” Chloe protested. “I think she helped me get back to the shore and then I saw her jumping back into the water.”

Zoe scoffed in response as she took out the gauze and some bandages. “Oh, okay then. What kind of mermaid was it? Are we talking Ariel mermaid, Ponyo mermaid, or H2O: Just Add Water mermaid?” She asked sarcastically.

“Actually, I think she was a shark mermaid or something like that.” Chloe said, recalling the features of her mysterious savior.

“You were saved… by a shark mermaid?” Zoe asked incredulously.

“I don’t know! I want to learn more about her!” Chloe raised her arms for Zoe to apply the gauze to her wound and bandage it up. “Come on, don’t you want to at least see if this is real and not something I hallucinated?”

Zoe sighed. “Chloe, maybe take a day or two to rest before going back into the ocean again.” She started to put away the first aid kid. “Either that, or ask someone about mermaids or something like that.”

Chloe got up and changed into something comfortable for the night, thinking about maybe talking to a friend of hers tomorrow

“YOU SAW A HUMAN?!”

“Shh! I don’t want the entire ocean to know!” Alix hissed to shut up Alya.

“Then why are you telling us in the first place? This is huge!” Alya couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“And you saved her just like a prince saving a princess. It’s so romantic!” Rose chimed in with the same cheery view of everything she heard about.

“I didn’t mean it like that! She needed help, so I helped her.” Alix retorted. “I mean yeah, I guess she was kinda pretty, but that’s not the point here! I want some advice on how to approach this.”

“I mean, if you want to see her again, why not just drag her underwater?” Juleka asked bluntly.

“Juleka, she can’t breathe underwater!” Alix snapped.

“Why don’t you ask Master Fu? Maybe he knows.” Mylene suggested. “What does he know about humans, Marinette?” She asked her friend who was currently working as a healing apprentice for Master Fu.

“Uh, he hasn’t really told me much.” Marinette replied, making Alix sigh.

“And my family isn’t much help either.” She said as she ran her hands through her head in frustration. “I really don’t know what to do here! I really want to learn more about this human. I want to know more about the human world in general and their awful-tasting fish.” The others looked at Alix in confusion after they heard that last bit.

“Okay, here’s an idea: Swim up to the shore and then see if the human comes back or not. If she actually saw you, she’ll obviously want to investigate like you do.” Marinette suggested.

Alix thought about what Marinette said for a moment. “You know what? You’re right. Maybe she’s looking for me right now!” And with that, Alix dashed off, leaving a trail of bubbles in her wake as her friends tried to get her to stop.

Alix remembered where she went to the surface yesterday and swam to a small rock formation where she surfaced and looked up to see if the same human saw her, making sure to conceal her shark half just in case.

“You saw a mermaid?”

“Yeah, I get it’s ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. Can you just hear me out?” Chloe asked Sabrina, fully aware of how weird her question was.

“You know when I signed up to be a lifeguard, I wasn’t trained to look for mermaids.” Sabrina said as she got out of her lifeguard’s chair and switched out with another lifeguard so she could talk to Chloe more while the two walked down the beach.

“Well what about sharks? I think the mermaid was part shark.”

Sabrina sighed. “You of all people should know shark sightings are rare here, and even then, they rarely attack humans unless they’re confused.”

“Well I think this shark is different.” Chloe said, fully aware of how weird her statement was.

“I guess I’ll tell the other lifeguards to watch out for any shark people.” Sabrina said before leaving.

Chloe sighed. She knew this was a ridiculous story nobody would believe. She was going to walk back, but then she saw a flash of pink hair by the rocks. Chloe carefully walked across some of the rocks that weren’t submerged in the water until she was face to face with the pink haired girl, who was looking nervously at her.

“Uh… hi. Do you remember me?” The girl asked nervously, giving a toothy grin with her sharp teeth.

“I… I think I do. This is kind of a strange question, but are you a...” Chloe was going to ask, but her curiosity got the better of her and looked over the rocks and saw a shark fin on the girl’s back. “Nevermind.”

Chloe was now 100% sure she was saved by a mermaid yesterday, and was now face to face with the same mermaid again.

Adrien is tired of being unappreciated. Tired of being sidelined. Tired of being left out. 

Tired of Ladybug acting like he’s replaceable. 

I’ll make her regret replacing me. I’ll show her she needs me. She’ll beg me to come back, but it’s already too late. She’s on her own. She thinks she doesn’t need Chat Noir anymore? Well then, that’s on her head.

So, Adrien tells his father he doesn’t feel safe in Paris anymore, and that he wants to go to school abroad. Gabriel is a little taken aback at this proclamation, and is confused until Nathalie points out in a private conversation “Uh, Gabriel. Did you forget that you’ve literally had dozens of Akuma specifically single Adrien out as a target? Every other Akuma that you create is holding him hostage at one point or another. He thinks he’s in danger, and he IS in danger, considering you can’t always control the Akuma, like with Style Queen." 

Oh yeah. Gabriel had conveniently forgotten that he regularly Akumatized people that had a grudge against his son specifically, who wanted to kill his son, specifically. Whoops. 

"You’re right, Adrien.” Gabriel conceeded later that night, after miraculously appearing to join his son at the dinner table, “Don’t bother packing your bags, we will get you new things ordered to be there when you arrive. You’ll leave tonight for the most prestigious school in London." 

So, without a word to any of his classmates and with no attempt to contact Ladybug or Rena Rouge, Adrien leaves Paris on his father’s private jet.

Adrien doesn’t bother keeping up with the news, and he doesn’t listen to Plagg’s eventual worries about Paris, either after Plagg realized they weren’t just ‘taking a break’ from Akuma fights for awhile, when he realized this was going to be permanent. 

Adrien spends his time ditching school and running around the rooftops of London as Chat Noir, rebelliously enjoying the stunts he can pull without Ladybug there to scold him about property damage. Sometimes, he likes to just Cataclysm things to let off steam, but he always vanishes before the emergency services can come screaming around the corner with their sirens blaring.

He sticks to the lower class sections of the city, because it takes longer for the police to respond to the destruction he leaves in his wake.

Adrien’s days are going, as far as he is concerned, absolutely perfect. 

He’s been in London for just over a month when the tsunami crashes into the city and drowns close to eight million people who have no warning. Where he is perched on top of Big Ben, Adrien watches the water rise up the side of the clocktower and sees a swarm of demonic mermaids flashing through the depths, leaping out of the water and snatching people who have climbed to the roofs of lower buildings and dragging them into the deep.

Hawkmoth apparently doesn’t care that Chat Noir is no longer showing up to fights; after all, why would he stop? It was always a chance that the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous wouldn’t be released to fight him, he’s just shocked that it;s taken the heroes this long to wise up to the fact that they should be hiding at least one of his goals from him. It’s just too bad that Gabriel is desperately overestimating his son’s motivations and intelligence. 

The flood waters continue into the distance until they vanish past the horizon, and Adrien can only surmise there’s no magical place where they stop, just like the first time.

The whole world is drowning.

Syren has made her second appearance, and this time, she has minions. Not even the rooftops are safe.

The whole world is under water.

And Adrien is about to find out the hard way that you can’t run away from your responsibilities.

Highkey though, I’ve never simped for fictional characters before and miraculous has just been hitting me hard recently.

I think the main miraculous simping started from Luka, because oh my god he’s amazing

Luka!

Luka is very aesthetically appealing to me but also gives me lots of gender envy, he’s in that perfect middle ground I have when it comes to boys that just makes me die, legitimately.

I absolutely love Luka’s sassy hand flick when he transforms into Viperion. Also I love how I ended up making this gif so he head bangs into Viperion over and over. 10/10 very amusing

Honestly the guitar twins are both so cute, I believe in guitar twins supremacy. I love the vibe of guitar so I might be a little biased but STILL.

Tell me they’re not both absolutely attractive because I swear to god they both have amazing style and great hair and vibes.

Juleka!

Speaking of, the hype behind Luka is entirely deserved (because he’s great) but let’s stop sleeping on Juleka!

Her personality is literally so sweet! She’s shy in front of her peers but can speak up for herself when she truly needs to (when her parents were fighting) and she’s not scared of the things other people would normally be afraid of (she isn’t scared of Mylène when she becomes Horrificator). I’m really excited that she’s getting the opportunity to break out of her comfort zones and stand up for herself more in season four (Guiltrip and Crocoduel). Also she’s legit so aesthetically pleasing aND LOOK AT HER SMILE SHES SO CUTE

Tigress supremacy! I hope we’ll get to see more episodes with Tigress and I would love to see some interaction between Tigress and Viperion not knowing the other is their sibling! Tigress’s hair is so cute tho and the ears!! Oh my goodness

Chat Noir!

Chat Noir tho 👀 This scene has been replaying in my head for like a week so I made it a gif to replay it in my eyes! Ladybug pretends she doesn’t like it, but I love Chat’s jokes and demeanor. Also! Big gender envy vibes from him as well, though not from Adrien?

I definitely like Chat Noir more than Adrien, but I’ve been beginning to like Adrien a bit more recently. In season four, Adrien is just barely beginning to be more like his true self (Chat Noir) instead of the self he’s constructed to please his father and society. Adrien’s eyes and smiles are soft and kind which makes them appealing, but I hope he gets to be himself more without the mask like in Oblivio.

Marinette!

Marinette is totally the type of girl I would have a crush on if she were real, but, if we’re being honest, is there a girl I wouldn’t have a crush on? gjzjfsktd girls are so pretty. Anyway, Marinette looks good in every single miraculous she has ever used. I really hope we can get more of Adrien wearing different miraculouses in the coming seasons as well. But Aqua Ladybug and Bee Ladybug are both so pretty what in the world. And the mouse miraculous + literally anything is always so cute on her. The black cat looks good on everyone! (please don’t send me Master Fu or Damocles or whatever in the black cat miraculous I swear to god)

I love this scene of Ladybug, and Chat’s face when she grabs the chain is so funny too! Just something really attractive about Ladybug right here. :D

Rena Rouge!

I’ve always loved Rena’s design because of the big fluffy hair parts that fade to white and the mask that makes the eyes look larger than on Ladybug’s or Chat Noir’s masks. She’s so pretty when she strikes the pose to play the flute and I love how dynamic the ending pose of her transformation is. I also really like both the original design and the Rena Furtive design!

I like Zoé’s design and I absolutely LOVE her sneakers. I basically only wear converse or vans and I love the unique patterns (I have mermaid print, rainbow tie dye, sunset, etc in high tops) Im going to make another post soon going through everyone’s shoes and my opinions of them soon! :D

I really love Vesperia’s design! The hairstyle she was given is so cute and I love the kick she does at the end of her transformation, but maybe that’s just the dancer in me. Anyway, Vesperia’s character design looks like someone I would totally have a crush on if she were real.

Marc and Nathaniel!

I love both Marc and Nathaniel and I would really like to get more content of them in the coming seasons. I feel like everyone in the class has a bit more involvement and time to show off their character besides Nathaniel and I would love to see more from him. I got attached to Marc immediately and want more content I swear. Both of their designs are very cute too! Similar to Luka and Chat Noir, Marc and Nathaniel both give off varying degrees of gender envy! :)

WINGLESS | Ch. 8

***New to Wingless? Start at Chapter 1!

CH. SUMMARY: Ladybug has no idea what to do with her Lucky Charm, but she soon realizes it was never intended for fighting. She has one duty: protect Chat Noir.

Ladybug hunched over, hands on her knees, bracing herself. She desperately tried to fill her lungs with oxygen, but each attempt felt like filling a sieve with water. This akuma was ranking pretty high up on the mental list she’d been forming since she first became Ladybug. She and Chat Noir could barely land a hit and Rena Rouge and Carapace weren’t faring any better.

And not to mention, they still hadn’t figured out the akumatized object.

She heard boots land beside her, but she didn’t need to look up to know Chat was there. She recognized the notes of his footfall like she would her favorite song on the radio.

“This is getting out of hand,” he said between pants. His voice was absent of its usual mirth and it frightened her. She relied on his lighthearted approach to imminent danger to contrast her immobilizing fear.

“I have . . . no idea . . . what to do with this,” she replied breathlessly, holding up her Lucky Charm.

Chat rounded to the front of her and squinted at it, scratching his head between his leather ears. “Is that . . . tin foil?”

Ladybug nodded, still a bit out of breath. “Rena and Carapace?”

“They’re distracting Sirena with illusions of us.”

“I wish we knew who she was.”

“Me, too.”

“And your shoulder?”

Chat tried to make a spectacle of rotating his arm. “It’s purr-fectly fine, I sw-- Ow!” Chat recoiled when his left arm hit just the right angle, spreading a frantic fire through his nerves.

Ladybug frowned.

“Okay, so maybe my shoulder isn’t fine. But it will be when we beat Sirena. I’ve been hurt in a battle before.” Fighting Riposte after injuring his leg as Adrien was not fun. Weredad was even worse. He shivered thinking of Tom akumatized and tried to play it off, but Ladybug remained unamused. “Really. It’s no biggie! Let’s just focus on a plan for the akuma. She’s already foiled our picnic plans.”

Ladybug held in a snort.

A silence draped over the pair as their minds raced and adrenaline coursed through their bodies. It was far from uncomfortable; they were quite accustomed to the quiet that sometimes accompanied their strategizing. Ladybug was a little--okay, maybe a lot eager to finish the battle so she and Chat could get back to their prior engagement: Reveal Day. She had worked so hard on his gift and the akuma had ruined everything, swallowing it and the picnic basket she had prepared in its ascending waters.

She even stayed up into the wee hours of the night baking him cat-shaped macarons!

But this akuma was accompanied by a sentimonster unlike anything they had seen yet. It was a whirlpool with teeth the size of limousines and its existence seemed to entail a supernatural rising of the tides. The thing was so grisly Ladybug tried not to look too hard at it in case her lunch decided to make a comeback.

That wasn’t even the half of it, though.

Oh, no, there just had to be more! The second anything touched said supernatural waters, it turned to seafoam. Humans included. Which is why Ladybug and Chat Noir had chosen to reconvene on the highest ground they could think of: Montparnasse Tower.

Like her sentimonster, the akuma was just as grotesque. Whenever Ladybug could get a decent look at her, she felt the itching sensation of goosebumps scorch her arms and back. Sirena appeared to be half-bird, half-human with razor-sharp talons for feet, splotchy feathers covering her legs, and gargantuan wings sprouting from her back. Her eyes were gray and devoid of life, and Ladybug had to wonder if they had the ability to also suck the life from a person. But what made Sirena the most dangerous was her affinity for song.

When she opened her mouth and sang, the whole world stopped to listen and obey, even if that meant walking into the perilous waters and ceasing to exist altogether.

“The ear plugs were a great idea, by the way, kitty cat,” Ladybug told Chat, beaming with pride.

Before Ladybug could process what was happening and that she was inching closer and closer to the water, Chat had stolen some toilet paper from a nearby convenience store and stuck it in all of the team’s ears, breaking the spell.

The compliment warmed Chat’s cheeks. “Thanks,” he said softly.

“How did you manage to snap out of it?”

“I--I don’t know. I don’t even know if I ever was under her spell. I think it has to do with my feline hearing?”

Ladybug’s brow furrowed. “So her singing didn’t affect you?”

Chat puckered his lips before letting out the most endearing laugh Ladybug had ever had the pleasure of hearing. “That was singing? All I heard was high-pitched screeching.”

Ladybug tried to stifle a laugh of her own but ultimately failed. Never one to miss an opportunity for clownery, Chat crossed his eyes, held out his hands like a zombie, and filled the air with velociraptor noises. Ladybug’s ribs hurt from laughing so hard.

“Maybe it has to do with frequencies?” Ladybug supplied, wiping a stray tear from her eye.

Chat shrugged, a goofy smile on his lips.

Rena Rouge and Carapace joined them then, but they appeared better off than Ladybug and Chat had been five minutes ago.

“I’ve got Sirena chasing Illusion Ladybug and Chat Noir, but I’m not sure it’ll last much longer,” Rena informed the team.

“Please tell me you have a plan, LB,” Carapace pleaded.

Ladybug and Chat Noir shared a look before Ladybug smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand.

“Oh, man, dudes.” Carapace hung his head. “Sirena is, like, no joke. Who even is she?”

“We don’t know,” Ladybug and Chat replied in tandem.

“Yeah, and didn’t we already have a siren akuma? Shadow Moth has gotten so lazy,” Rena complained, crossing her arms.

Ladybug chuckled softly. “There was a siren akuma, but it was nothing like this.”

That akuma was the more colloquial version, having presented like a mermaid rather than like she came straight out of a Greek epic. She also didn’t have a raging whirlpool for a sentimonster and Ladybug could touch the water without disappearing.

Without warning, Alya burst out in laughter. “Wait a minute, girl. I remember seeing you use a trash bin as a boat that day!” Chat gawked at his partner and Ladybug felt her cheeks redden in shame. She firmly avoided eye contact. “Geez, you were so suspicious. I should have put two and two together way before you told me.”

“Rena,” Ladybug growled. She clenched her fists at her side and felt the roll of foil yield to her iron grip. It crinkled, drawing Rena’s attention.

“Oh, is that the Lucky Charm?” Rena asked, gesturing toward it with her flute.

“Yeah, but I’m not sure what to use it for.”

Both Rena and Carapace stared at the Lucky Charm for a moment. Then they stared at each other.

“Right, well,” Rena started while Carapace slowly backed away. “We’ll keep watch over there while you figure it out,” she finished. Then she elbowed her best friend gently and winked. “I believe in you.”

When they were out of earshot, Ladybug’s shoulders slumped. “Thanks,” she muttered glibly to no one in particular.

Chat blinked. “Bug? You okay?”

The tenderness in Chat’s voice took Ladybug by surprise. As it always did. How did he do that? How did he always know when she needed it the most?

Because he’s your other half, her traitorous brain supplied.

Ignoring her subconscious, Ladybug gave him a small smile and raised her fist. “You and me against the world?”

Chat eyed her fist before his face softened and he met her fist with his own. “Always.”

The anxiety gripping Ladybug’s heart loosened a bit, giving her just enough leeway to inspect her Lucky Charm and pray for a plan. She unraveled the foil a smidge, holding it up against the sun to get a better look.

“Hey, watch where you point that,” Chat warned when the foil reflected an overwhelming white light into his eyes. Not wanting it to happen again, he elected to stand near Rena and Carapace for the time being.

Ladybug chuckled nervously and opened her mouth to apologize, but the words died on her lips. She stiffened. Chills shot down her spine.

There, reflected by the foil, was the akuma torpedoing towards them. Darkness shrouded her figure as the sun eclipsed her wings, and catching Ladybug’s eye in the foil’s reflection only spurred her on. Light glinted off something in her hand, blinding Ladybug in one eye. The moment she realized what it was, her body jumped into action.

Dropping the foil, the spotted heroine raced so desperately her speed could rival sound. Funny how it still felt like she moved in slow motion. Her heart thudded in her chest and all she could hear was her own breathing.

As she neared her teammates, it became clear whom Sirena meant to attack.

With deadly aim, she was hurtling straight for Chat Noir.

Chat Noir, who was too caught up laughing at Carapace’s joke then to hear Sirena’s wings slice the air.

Chat Noir, who had a bum shoulder.

Chat Noir, whose dazzling smile made her ponder if that’s what standing next to the sun was like.

Chat Noir, who had sacrificed himself for Ladybug so many times, she lost count.

Chat Noir, who loved her.

Ladybug’s leg muscles burned as she mustered every bit of energy her body had to offer. She had to push Chat out of the way!

You had Mayura right where you wanted her. I could have managed by myself. Why’d you do that?

Because while she knew Chat could handle himself against the akumas (bum shoulder or not), what she didn’t know was if the rogue blade Sirena wielded could pierce their suits, and she wasn’t about to let her partner become the test subject.

As Ladybug neared her partner, she realized that this was exactly what her Lucky Charm was meant for.

We’re Ladybug and Chat Noir. Ladybug by itself doesn’t sound half as cool.

The foil was never meant to defeat Sirena.

You’re nothing without your Chat Noir.

It was always meant to guide Ladybug.

Chat Noir and I are a team. If you take me on, you take Chat Noir on, too.

No matter what would happen, Ladybug knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was destined to protect Chat. Sirena may have been aiming for her partner, but . . .

If you take him on, you take Ladybug on, too.

“Chat, MOVE!” Ladybug cried, hoping that if she didn’t get there in time, a warning might be enough.

Chat’s Noir’s ears twitched. Turning, he had only a millisecond to process what he saw before Ladybug’s palm slammed against his chest.

How do you think the kwamis would work with this? Would Ladybug just suddenly be flopping around as Carapace is struggling to walk and Cat Noir and Rena Rouge are both just like “this is fine”? They’d still kick Hawkmoth’s butt obviously. Or maybe they turn into a mermaid/human when they are initially given the miraculous? Oh and this is unrelated but also I bet Nino makes soooo many fish out of water jokes

as of kwamis, i wasn't sure about involving the miraculous at all. i kinda like it as a silly slice of life without the superhero antics

The Wolf And The Cat

As he watched Ladybug jump over rooftops and across the water-covered streets, Cat Noir was so done at this point. It was one thing to keep him in the dark, it was another to make him feel like this. They were supposed to be partners. He sacrificed his life for her countless times and she returns that by not trusting him like this. While he did not feel entitled to her trust, he sure as hell thought that he had earned it by now. 

He let himself be tagged by Timebreaker so that Ladybug was saved from being erased. He had multiple opportunities to find out her identities, like when they were trapped by Dark Owl, yet he did chose not to. He trusted her word when she recruited Rena Rouge instead of thinking that she was another Volpina. He knew that his flirting or jokes came at the wrong times sometimes, but that was no excuse for not trusting him after all they had been through together.

He was about to say his detransformation phrase when he heard someone land behind him on the same roof. He turned and saw White Wolf.

“Geia, Cat Noir,” the wolf hero smiled at him.

White Wolf and his partner Beautifly were two heroes from Greece. They have their own miraculous from a miracle box that was handed down through their family. Their box is known to hold the Greek miraculous, with each one being based off of the sacred animals of the Greek Olympians. The heroes were sent because there were a set of twins that come from a very rich, well-loved, and charitable family. Lyon and Vallia Garden. They were in Paris for a program for them to explore new cultures. So their government wanted the heroes to make sure that the twins were safe.

“Hey, Wolf,” Cat Noir greeted back.

The Greek hero walked up next to him and then sat down, staring out into the flooded city.

“Being Greek, I know a thing or two about sirens,” he says. “And his akuma is very insulting.”

Cat Noir could not help but laugh a little. It was like an effect that White Wolf had on him. Since he had met the two Greek heroes, White Wolf was always able to make him smile no matter what was going on. His specialty was making a lot of pop culture references which he thought were just as funny as his puns.

“At least this Syren is not spelled the same way,” Cat Noir jokes as he sits next to his fellow hero.

“Spelling means nothing,” Wolf smirked. “This Syren is a mermaid while real sirens are part bird.”

“Guess you would know about about that,” Cat Noir chuckled. 

“I’m Greek, so I know more than anyone about copies,” Wolf snickered. “Ask any ancient family of Greece. We still hold grudges against Italy for taking our gods.”

Cat Noir laughed. “Why am I not surprised. Guess it was a good thing you weren’t here when Volpina appeared. The girl that was akumatized into her was from Italy.”

“Fake heroes are the worst,” Wolf sighed. “We never let our Miraculous Book out of sight, so we never have to deal with any fakes trying to say that they have a miraculous.”

“Is it ever hard for your family to take care of all your miraculous,” Cat Noir had always been curious.

“We have always been taught that everything happens for a reason,” Wolf says. “There are those that match a miraculous and those that don’t. Sometimes there are even periods where no miraculous is even needed. Every generation is different.”

“At least it’s your family and you know that you can trust them,” Cat Noir said.

“Yeah, but being related doesn’t mean they have to care,” Wolf sighs. “One of my cousins in America was being abused by his mother after his father died. But no matter how many bruises he had or how many times he missed school because of an injury, no one ever believed that it was his mom because for the simple reason that it was his mom. She had to love him simply because they shared blood. He was adopted by my nana and papa after he woke up from a coma that his mom put him in.”

Cat Noir didn’t know what to say. Some might say that was a big clue toward White Wolf’s identity, but he didn’t care. The message was clear to both Cat Noir and Adrien Agreste. As Cat Noir, he could sympathize about feeling helpless to do something about something so horrible. As Adrien, he was hit hard as he thought about his father.

“I’m so sorry, Wolf,” he apologized. “I had no idea.”

“Family isn’t always who you’re related to,” Wolf tells him. “Blood does not make a family, love does.”

“Trust me when I say you must be the wisest person I have ever met,” Cat Noir said. “I wish I had the knowledge you did. Especially the trust you have with Beautifly. Where is she, anyway?”

“She’s working on a spell that can get her and me under the water,” Wolf tells him.

“A spell,” Cat Noir was confused.

“It’s another difference between the Greek and Chinese miraculous,” Wolf says. “Your miraculous calls for potions fed to your kwami. Mine and Beautifly’s require spells that channel the Olympian gods. Obviously, we will be channeling Poseidon for this akuma.”

“Would that work for me and Ladybug,” Cat Noir asked.

“I don’t think so, actually,” Wolf admitted. “Magic is very different all over the world and it is never a good thing to mix them. Is Ladybug getting your potion?”

“I have no idea where she is,” Cat Noir said, almost growling. “I trusted her when she left to go and recruit Rena Rouge, but now she is leaving me in the dark with no details at all. That is not what partners do. That is how a hero treats their sidekick.”

White Wolf never did like Ladybug very much. She was always the one treated as the main hero, throwing the rest of them aside. Hardly anyone ever cared about what would happen to the rest of them if they were hurt, hypnotized, or benched. It was always about Ladybug. There was a reason why Alya Cesaire’s blog was called the Ladyblog and not the Hero Blog or something else that would give all of them equal credit.

“If I could, I would use our spell to help you,” Wolf puts his hand on Cat Noir’s. “You don’t deserve to be treated like a sidekick. No one will ever understand the burden that wielding the miraculous of destruction can bring.”

“How can she not trust me enough after all we’ve done together,” Cat Noir growled. “Does me sacrificing my life for her during Timebreaker’s attack mean nothing to her. I was nearly erased from existence.”

“Oh, Cat Noir,” Wolf was not here for that, but he could hear the heartbreak in his voice.

“It’s not she has to tell me everything,” Cat Noir continued his rant. “She just has to give me the basics, not the specifics. She just has to tell me who she is meeting, not where she is exactly going. She says we’re partners, but how she acts is completely different.”

Wolf got a look on his face. “Hmmm.”

“What,” Cat Noir asked.

“The Greek miracle box just so happens to have a black panther miraculous,” Wolf smirked.
