On the (late) 6th day of Bad Batchmas I have to all of you!!!
Awkward conversations!
I’ve decided to post little snippets as we wait for the boys to get back from tour…err season 2!
Now this will take place in the universe I’ve built for my fic A Star Above the Rest! Some may be sneak peaks at future events, little glimpses into past events, or things I wanted to do but couldn’t work into the story! I hope you all enjoy them and Happy Holidays!
AFAB peeps I’m sure this one will hit home with a lot of ya! I remember my dad having to give me this talk so I couldn’t resist having the batch give Omega the talk!
Day 6 of the 12 Days of Bad Batchmas- Awkward Conversation.
Tumblr media
Ok so this was actually really difficult to tackle. As we don’t have a canonic age for Omega it makes certain topics difficult to figure out. I’ve seen ages from 10-14, some even younger. But as a lot of ppl believe she was made at the same time as Boba, who is between 10-13 during the bad batch. I’m gonna say she’s 13. So. Take that with a grain of salt.
“Has Omega seemed a bit more on edge lately?” Echo watched as the young girl threw her datapad down onto her bed in annoyance. Over the last few days she seemed more emotional and irritable than usual.
Tech looked at his brother and nodded “Indeed, she was quite cross with me earlier when I bumped into her” Usually she’d laugh it off and continue on. But this time she snapped at him about always being in the way.
Echo made a face at the information, it wasn’t like her to behave like that. Maybe he should talk to her? “What does Hunter think?”
“Hunter has been keeping a relatively large birth from her lately. Something about her not smelling right.” Tapping at his datapad, Tech tried to search for any kind of information. Female adolescents weren’t exactly any of their strong suits.
“What?” None of this was making sense. “Maybe we could call someone? Maybe Nala Se? Or Zirena?” Omega traveling with them had been the Jedis' idea. Maybe she could give them information?
“I fear contacting Nala Se may end up backfiring on us. She may believe we are incapable of taking care of Omega and request that we return her.” While things were decidedly difficult with a child on board, Tech was beginning to enjoy her curiosity. Having to return her to Kamino would be heartbreaking for all of them.
Pulling out his datapad, Echo quickly typed in Zirenas information and called her.
After a few rings the call connected and the Jedis' happy face filled the screen. “Echo! This is a surprise. Is everything ok?”
He could see the darkness around her and the sleepy look in her eyes. The thought of what time it was on Coruscant hadn’t even crossed his mind. “For the most part. I didn’t realize how late it was, I can call ya later.”
Zirena waved her hand to him sleepily. “Need to get up soon anyway. What’s going on?” Beside her a warm pair of arms wrapped around her waist and held her tightly as the owner of them slept soundly. Rex could sleep through anything when he was on shore leave. It would take a bomb going off to wake him, maybe.
“Well, somethings going on with Omega and it’s putting everyone on edge.” Crosshair was literally camping outside the ship just to avoid her. They’d been on this uncharted planet for a week now because everyone was concerned about her being too cramped up.
“I’m gonna need more than that, Echo.” She wiggled slightly as she felt Rexs leg wrap around hers. So possessive in his sleep.
Where did he even begin! “She’s snapping at everyone over the smallest things. She’s extra emotional, especially over things she normally wouldn’t be. Tech bumped into her in an accident the other day and she nearly took his head off.”
“What’s Hunter think?” Zirena had a small feeling she might know what was going on, but she’d need more information.
Echo sighed. “That’s just it. He’s avoiding her like she stepped on Bantha shit and sat in the sun for a week. Something about her smelling weird.”
Zirena chuckled softly. “Echo? How old is Omega?”
“13 standard years.” Techs voice chimed in as he moved next to his brother. “Though I suppose she’ll be turning 14 soon.”
“Ah. That explains it all then.” She watched as they both raised eyebrows to her. With a sigh she tapped the screen and sent a few files to Tech. “Omega is hitting puberty. I’d put credits down that she’s about to start her menstrual cycle.”
“What!” It was so obvious but still! Echo wasn’t sure why he was so surprised. It was bound to happen sometime, maybe he hoped it never would?
“Omegas not a girl anymore, she’s a young woman now.” Beside her she heard a sleepy chuckle. Nudging Rex, she continued. “ With the combined knowledge of you both, I’m surprised you didn’t figure this out. What did you think was going to happen when you took a girl onto the ship?”
Hearing his datapad go off, Tech pulled it out and looked over the files he’d been sent. So much information to learn. “I guess we just didn’t want to think it would happen?” Every 28-30 standard days? For almost a week?
“They should call Nala Se and see if she had the talk with the kid.” Rex opened his eyes sleepily before placing a kiss to Zirenas shoulder.
“He’s right. That’s going to be the first thing you guys do. If she didn’t…well” Zirena made an awkward face to them both.
“Don’t say it.” Echo groaned at the possibility. “Can’t you talk to her about it?” He gave the Jedi his best pleading eyes.
“While this is a talk that’s easier between women.” Shaak Ti had given Zirena the talk. “You guys are the ones that will be dealing with it all the time. It’s best you educate yourselves and her. This awkwardness will pass but only if you guys move past it first.” Yawning slightly, she felt Rex squeeze her close.
Echo wanted to die. He really wasn’t trained for this, where was Kix when they needed him? “Any advice?”
Reaching over and taking the datapad from his fiancé, Rex looked at Echo. “Buy lots of chocolate.”
“Morning, Captain. Sorry for waking you.” Great, He’d interrupted their rare alone time. This was one of those times Echo really wished he was like a droid and could just turn himself off.
An annoyed cough came from Zirena before the camera was turned back to her. “Ha.ha. Not. Funny.”
“Am I wrong?” Zirena was a demon during her time of the month. The only thing that seemed to calm her was chocolate and manta mix. And sex, but that was obviously not something Omega should be doing at that age.
“No.” A face was made before Zirena yawned. “Don’t know where you boys are right now. But I recommend finding the closest place to get supplies for her. I’ll send you my list. But know each person is different.”
“Thanks, Zee. You should get back to sleep.” Echo nodded to her and watched as she closed her eyes.
“Already almost there. Call me if you need me.”
-*-
“Hey Hunter?” Echo approached the leader of their group. The man had taken to ‘surveying’ the area to avoid Omega. “Just finished a call with Nala Se. she didn’t have that talk with Omega because she honestly expected her not to have…ya know.”
Hunter groaned before burying his face into his hands. This was not happening. “So what’s the next step? Can Nala Se do that talk? Or Commander Ka’ve?” Or literally anyone else.
Echo shook his head. “Zee says we need to do it since we’ll be with her most of the time. Nala Se wants us to bring her back to Kamino to do some observation and testing.”
Well that was out of the question. The last thing he wanted to do was bring the poor girl back to Kamino after fighting so hard to get her allowed to travel with them. “So all that’s left is us then?”
“Yup.” Rubbing the back of his head, Echo nodded. “Zee recommends we do it as a group. So we’re all on the same page.”
“Alright.” None of this was something Hunter expected to have to do. But here he was. “Let’s gather everyone.”
“Just waiting on you, sir.” Motioning towards the Marauder, Echo waited for Hunter to head in.
-*-
“Omega, what you’re going through is perfectly natural. As you age, your body will begin to change. To mature. Chemicals and hormones writhing your body are facilitating the change that now makes you a woman instead of a child.” Tech rambled as he looked at his datapad, rather than at the young girl.
Beside him, Echo was currently rolling his eyes. One of the main things Zirena had told them was not to ramble off facts. Maybe it was just how the clone dealt with nerves? He could see the confusion in Omegas eyes, the poor child wasn’t following any of this. “What Tech is trying to say.” His scomp was placed on the other clones shoulder. “Is that you’re experiencing something called a menstrual cycle. Some call it a period or time of the month. All human woman experience it.”
“During that time your emotions can become a bit more erratic, you’ll feel different for about a week or so. Plus there’s gonna be…bleeding.” Hunter watched as the girl's eyes went wide.
“Bleeding! For a week!” What? Nala Se hadn’t told her about any of this! “Why? How often?”
Tech easily looked up at the girl. “You’ll experience this once every 28 to 30 days for the next forty or so standard years.”
“What!” No no no, this couldn’t be happening. “But WHY?”
Hunter raised his hands quickly to her, trying to calm her. “It means you’re becoming a woman. You’re not a child anymore. You’ll one day be able to have children now.”
“Children? Does that mean I have to have sex?” Omegas cheeks flared at the thought.
“No! I mean yes. But not anytime soon! How do you know what sex is?” Echo felt a headache coming on. He couldn’t handle this.
“The clones on Kamino talk about it all the time. They don’t think I’m listening, but I hear them. That’s how normal people are born, isn’t it?” She understood the basics of sex. But never had she thought she’d be discussing this with them!
Crosshair snorted as he listened to her speak. “Surprised you don’t know a lot more.” He’d heard the men on Kamino speak. Hell, he said some things not good for small ears.
“We’re getting off track here.” Sex talk later, period talk now. “What we’re saying is that this is all normal for you to go through and we’re here to help however we can.”
“Do you guys go through this too?” Her eyes looked before all the men who shook their heads carefully.
Tech passed his datapad to Omega so she could look at the research he’d done. “Afraid this is mainly something females go through.”
Omegas eyes scanned the information quickly. Cramps? Smells? Cravings? Bleeding? Her eyes shifted to Hunter. “Can you smell me?” When the clone nodded slowly, she screamed in embarrassment. She was ready to cry and die.
-*-
Two hours later, Omega sat in her bed still trying to process everything. She was changing, would this mean they’d send her back to Kamino? Brown eyes shook as a few tears began to fall. She hated this, all of it. Why did she have to go through this? Why didn’t Nala Se warn her?
“Hey kid?” Echo looked up at her carefully. “Have someone here that I think might help ya.” Passing his datapad over to Omega, he watched as she wiped a few tears away.
On the datapad was Zirena waiting to speak to the girl. Echo and the boys had called her after their little meeting to let her know how it went. Which decidedly wasn’t good. “Hey Omega. Let’s chat?”
Omega looked to Echo who raised his arms up and quickly left the area. Once she was sure they were alone, she finally spoke. “Do you go through this?”
Zirena nodded. “I do and I remember how I felt the first time it happened. It’s scary, isn’t it?”
“Why do we have to go through this? It’s weird and gross.” Little hands carefully rubbed one of her arms. She felt so self conscious now.
“Honestly, if I had that answer I’d tell you. Men go through puberty on the inside. We have more physical signs.” Zirena felt for the poor child. She didn’t have any human females to talk to about these kinds of things. “Do you have any questions? Perhaps I can help you?”
Omega had a list the size of Kamino filled with questions. “How much time do you have?” She knew the Jedi was a busy woman, she didn’t want to take up all of her time.
“Free all night. Once the guys called I cleared my schedule.” Picking up a glass she sipped at the wine slowly, thankful that Cal would get this talk from someone in the temple.
“They all called you?”
Zirena smiled softly, feeling a motherly instinct taking over. “Of course they did, Omega. They all care about you. They’re just not sure how to approach all of this. Which isn’t surprising really, men are hopeless with stuff like this. But they’ll do their best.”
That made her feel so much better than she expected. “So they won’t send me back to Kamino?”
“If they try to, I'll beat them up for ya and take you with me. I always wanted a little sister.” Zirena winked at the girl, earning a laugh from her. “I’ve told them to bring you to Coruscant so we can have some girl talk. Think you’re up for that? I’ll be able to explain things a bit easier in person.”
Omega smiled excitedly at the prospect of finally going to Coruscant. “That sounds awesome!”
“Perfect. For now though, ask any questions you may have?”
-*-
Outside the Maurader, all five clones stood in a circle together. They could do this, right? Raise a young woman on their ship? Handle her mood swings?
Echo sighed as he looked at all of them. “Anyone have any chocolate hidden away?”

I’ve decided to write little snippets up until our boys return from war! Err…Season 2 arrives.

12 Days of Bad Batchmas Day 1- Omega in a Tree
Tumblr media
“Hunter?” Omegas darling eyes turned towards the long haired clone. “Do you ever regret taking me with you?”
Hunter looked out over the vast forest below them. He and Omega had climbed the tallest tree they could find to keep lookout while Tech and Echo fixed the Marauder. Wrecker was out in the woods searching for something, though he wouldn’t tell Omega what. As for Crosshair, well he was somewhere avoiding the small clone. Omegas question had caught him by surprise, slowly his gaze shifted back to the little girl. “Why would you ask something like that?”
A punishment? Now who would think something like that? “Omega? Do you think it’s a punishment to be with us? After all, we’re the defective clones.”
“Not at all.” Omega smiled at her brother, father figure? She didn’t care honestly. They were her family. “You didn’t answer my question.” Leaning against his arm, she looked back towards the now setting sun.
“Come down, and we’ll all answer the question.” Hunter nudged her before moving to climb down. Omega smiled brightly and nodded. “Climbing down or are ya gonna be a backpack?”
A bell filled laugh came from the blonde as she reached out to Hunter. “Should take advantage of this for as long as I can, shouldn’t I?”
“We’ll always figure out a way to carry ya, kid.”
-*-
“There’s my favorite sister!” Wrecker crosses the space between the ship and Omega in four easy steps. His bag arms scooped the girl up easily before placing her on his shoulder.
Another delighted laugh came from Omega as she was lifted like a feather. “Wrecker, I’m your only sister!” Her caramel eyes lit up as she was carried back to the others.
“What took you two so long?” Tech tapped at his datapad quickly before looking back to Omega. This had been a good idea, to take her in. He’d have to let Zirena know.
“Omega had a question for all of us.” Crossing his broad arms, Hunter nodded to the girl to ask her question once more.
“Do you guys regret taking me with you?” Her eyes shifted between all of her brothers. She expected Echo to reassure her, Wrecker to make a joke, Tech to give her some facts, Crosshair to remain silent and Hunter to say something caring. She knew her family like the back of her hand.
“In the beginning you were a nuisance.” Crosshair chewed his toothpick, all eyes turning to the sniper quickly. “Now though.” He crossed the space between them, the toothpick now between his fingers. “Now you’re more of a bother.”
Omega watched as a rare smirk appeared on his lips. “Is a bother better than a nuisance?” It was hard to figure out.
“Much better.” Wrecker reached up and tapped her nose. “Now, wanna see what we’ve been up to?”
“I thought you were fixing the ship?” Her eyes scanned the group as they all smiled, except for Crosshair. But a smirk and a shift of his toothpick would be enough.
“Had to pick up something.” Echo stepped over towards the ship and tapped the panel for the door to open. “Or someone.”
“Someone?” Her eyes looked to the ship and a large smile passed her lips. “Cal!” Wreckers large hands wrapped around her waist and placed her down. She quickly ran towards the young padawan and hugged him tightly. “What are you doing here?”
Cal hugged Omega back excitedly as BD chirped from his shoulder. “Captain Howzer got called to Ryloth. So my Master arranged for you guys to take me to her!”
“Cal will be with us for about a week. Promised Zirena that we’d show him the ropes.” Echo winked at the two kids. “Think we can handle that?”
A mischievous grin crossed Omegas lips as so many wonderful ideas came to mind. “Definetly.” Grabbing Cals hand she pulled him towards the forest. “Let’s start with climbing a tree.”
Cal laughed as he followed behind Omega, BD hot on their heels. “I know how to climb a tree, Mega!”
Omega stopped dead in her tracks before looking back to Cal. “Without using the force?”
“Oh. No.” Now that he thought about it, he didn’t know how to do too much without using the force.
“Perfect!” Grabbing his hand once more she led him back to the tree from earlier.
Hunter visibly winced as Cal tripped while chasing after Omega. “Think we can handle a Jedi and Omega?” If Cal got hurt Zirena would kill him.
Echo sighed as he rubbed his scomp against his head. “Well, we’ll find out soon enough. Won’t we. Besides, if it comes down to it, I have Zirena on speed dial.”
An exhausted sigh came from the leader. “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.”
-*-
Cal and Omega sat in a tree overlooking the vast forest below. The sun had set and a golden moon now rested in the sky. Their dinner had been brought to them and as each one finished their drinks, Cal asked a question he had been thinking about. “Do you ever regret going with them?”
Omega shook her blonde locks as a happy smile graced her lips. “Nah, they're my family. How could I ever regret that?”
“Even Crosshair?” Cal could sense the sniper somewhere nearby, watching them no doubt.
A shrug came from her, the smile still there. “Even Cross. He started out as a nuisance but now he’s just a bother.”
“A brother that bothers?”
“Yes, a brother that bothers.”

On the 5th day of Batchmas I have to all of yoooouuu
Snowflakes
I’ve decided to make little ficlets leading up until our boys get back from their super secret spy mission…err season 2.
Now this will take place in the universe I’ve built for my fic A Star Above the Rest! Some may be sneak peaks at future events, little glimpses into past events, or things I wanted to do but couldn’t work into the story! I hope you all enjoy them and Happy Holidays!
As this is an 18+ blog there may sometimes be adult content. DNI if you are a minor!

“Hey, what are you doing out here alone?” The crunching sound of boots in the snow filled the crisp night air of the uncharted snow planet they'd rendezvoused on. Zirena stepped next to Echo and looked at him. “Doesn’t all that metal make you cold?” She poked a pink gloves hand at his head.
“Just thinking.” He playfully nudged her back before staring back at the star filled sky. Streaks of blue, purple, pink and gold covered the sky in ribbons of Aurora Borealis.
Zirena leaned her head to the side and rested it on his shoulder. “What are you thinking about?” How long had it been since she’d had some quiet time like this with her dearest friend?
“Everything that’s led us to this. Standing on this frozen planet, you with a padawan and a fiancé. Me looking like this.” Motioning with his hand he pointed to her hand that would have the ring in it as well as himself. “It’s just mind blowing how fast everything changed once you joined us.”
Moving her head, she looked up at him. “That’s a compliment right?”
Echo nodded before pulling her back into him. “Of course. It’s just hard to believe I guess. If you hadn’t joined us then maybe I wouldn’t have been taken. Which meant I wouldn’t have joined the batch.”
“Do you regret joining them?” If he said yes then maybe he could come back to Coruscant with her?
“Mmm, I kinda did in the beginning. I missed you, missed Fives and the crew. But I found something here. I found a closer bond than I expected. I’ve had more adventures than I thought possible. Plus, I’ve been able to help you so much more.” Leaning over he kissed the top of her head.
Her eyes closed at the feeling and she hummed softly. “I have seen you a lot more lately.” At least she was seeing one of her boys frequently. “It’s still so weird to go back to the Resolute and you not be there. Fives misses you fiercely.” Surprisingly everyone missed him.
“I talked to Rex the other day. He said Fives could come train with us for a bit.” Echos hand rubbed her arm gently. The padding of her jacket moving back and forth.
Zirena chuckled at the news. “ Oh I bet Crosshair is going to love that.” Knowing the sniper, he’d start bitching two weeks prior.
“Oh he’s already cranky. But he’ll get over it.” It had taken some time, but Echo had finally learned to tune Cross out whenever he got cranky.
“I wanna know everything when that happens, pictures included please.” She elbowed him gently before looking across the pristine snow. “Hey, remember what we used to do in my room on the Resolute?”
Echo raised an eyebrow in thought. “Debate?”
Rolling her eyes, Zirena stepped away from him and held her hand out. “No silly, how we used to practice dancing.” She’d helped him update his dance moves for 79’s. Which everyone was thankful for.
How could he forget such great memories? The closest he’d ever get to holding her that close was during those sessions. She found it relaxing and fun, he found it the closest to heaven possible. “I almost forgot.” Liar.
“Well let’s see if you atleast remember some of the moves.” She led him a little farther out into the snow, holding his hand tightly.
“W-wait. Zee.” He hadnt done this with her since he’d been changed. How could he hold her the same way? Or dip her? Caramel eyes watched as she stopped and turned to look at him, snowflakes falling onto her as a light dusting began. He inhaled slowly at the sight of her, the way she smiled brightly at him and the snowflakes rested on her eyelashes.
“What’s up? Scared to dance?” She smirked at him with a giggle. “I’m sure you won’t step on me again.” She raised her boot towards him. “These heels finally get me close to your height.”
He couldn’t tell her that he was self conscious about how he looked now. They’d discuss this so many times already and every step she’d reassured him that it didn’t matter how he looked. But at the end of the day it kinda did. How could he hold her the right way when they danced? His scomp was probably freezing, what if it was too cold for her? Or worse! What if it froze to her somehow? But the way those emerald orbs stared at him filled with happiness and joy, he couldn’t say anything. “Is Omega asleep?”
Well that was out of nowhere. “Uh yeah. Her and Cal are curled up under Techs pilot seat. BD is watching them.” Or more likely sleeping as well. “Everyone’s asleep so don’t worry. They won’t notice you stepping on me.” She playfully stuck her tongue out to him before pulling him towards her. “Now come on, let’s see what you remember.”
Echo swallowed carefully as she pulled him into her and placed his hand on her waist. “Which one?”
Zirena hummed in thought as they simply swayed for a moment. “Oh! How about the one we were working on? Right before Chandrila?”
It took Echo a moment to remember before he nodded. “What about the music?”
Zirena tapped her temple before tapping his. “All we need is here.”
“Can you at least hum the beginning?”
“Of course.” Her soft hum began as the sound of their crunching boots echoed around them.
Echo held her hand carefully as they stepped away from each other then forward. The simple steps were repeated once more before Echo twirled her under his arm. He swallowed as her hair whipped through the air and she was pulled back into him. An easy foxtrot box step began and the two spun for a while in the falling snow. He knew what would come at the end of this, the dip that he adored so much. “Zee, how do I?”
“Don’t worry about it. Just do it.” She wasn’t stupid, she knew that the dip would come and with his shorter arm he may be worried about pulling it off. But she’s already planned for it.
Echo spun her out one more time before carefully bringing her back in. His scomp went under her to try and support her but he found it unnecessary. Her hand raised and she used the force to support her, a satisfied smile on her face. Snowflakes landed on her red cheeks and he watched as they melted from her warmth. He’d missed this and a part of him wondered if she’d missed it as well.
“I missed this.” Zirena smiled at him as she stood back up. “I forgot how good of a dancer you actually are. Once you figured it out of course.”
“Thank you, Zee.” The words had escaped before he could stop them.
Zirena gave him a confused look as she tried to figure out what for. “For what?”
No point in hiding it from her. “For making me feel normal again.”
What did he mean ‘normal’? “You are normal, Echo.”
“No, I’m not. I have a scomp for a hand, metal in my head and throughout my body. I’m lighter than my brothers and I don’t sleep as well as I used to.” He placed a hand on her cheek gently. “But for the first time in a long time. I feel normal.”
She wasn’t sure how many times they’d need to have this conversation, but she’d be there for him every single time. Resting her head into his hand, she sighed softly. “Anytime, Echo. Whenever you need to feel normal. Just give me a call.” Reaching up she took his hand and placed a kiss on the palm. “Now, up for another dance?”
Echo chuckled and nodded. “Yeah.”
From the window of the Marauder, Cal and Omega watched the two spin in the snow while BD recorded the two.
“Grownups are weird. Why are they dancing in the snow?” Omega tilted her head to the side as she watched Zirena giggle as Echo almost dropped her.
Cal simply shrugged. “My Master is weirder than most. But she’s fun.” He watched the smile on her face, feeling the happiness she felt through the force. It was the first time he’d felt this level of happiness from her since she came back from Kamino. “Wanna try?”
Omega turned and smiled at him. “I was hoping you’d ask.”
Zirena chuckled suddenly as she felt Cals happiness spike. “I think we have an audience.” She tilted her head towards the ramp of the ship. In the glow of the ship lights, Cal and Omega tried to copy their movements.
Echo followed her gaze and smirked. “Does Cal have a crush on her?”
“If he didn’t before, he does now.”

“Mama! Mama! They’re here! I saw their ship!” Short brown curls bounced around emerald eyes as a young girl ran into the kitchen of her home.
“Ziva, what did I tell you about running in the kitchen when I’m cooking?” Zirena turned and knelt in front of her daughter. Hands ran against her apron as she brushed flour from them.
The child thought to herself for a moment before smiling. “Only do it when Papa is here to give him a heart attack?”
“Haha, very funny.” Rex rested against the doorframe of the kitchen, smiling at his two girls.
Smirking, Zirena stood carefully, her swollen stomach almost making her tip over. “I thought it was hilarious.”
Rex moved across the room quickly and wrapped his arms around her waist. “Easy there, my little bantha.” He spoke with a wink as his hand rubbed against her stomach. She was in those final weeks of her pregnancy, soon their son would be there.
Zirena swatted his arm as she tried to pull away. “You know I dislike that name.” With a grin she ran her hand through his growing beard. “Besides, you have no space to talk, wild man.”
“Now here I thought you liked my new look.” Playfully he rubbed his beard shading her cheek, earning a giggle. “What about you, my pet?” His brown eyes turned to his daughter who watched them with interest. “Do you like my beard?”
Ziva had honestly never seen papa without his beard. So naturally she smiled brightly. “I love papas beard!”
“She’s four. She hasn’t seen you any other way.” Placing a kiss to Rexs cheek, she pulled away and moved back to her oven.
Caramel eyes watched as she opened the oven and the smell of bread filled the room. Rex picked up Ziva and placed her on his shoulders easily. “Well, she’ll get a crash course when she meets the boys. No doubt Cody is still perfectly clean shaven.”
“I can’t believe it’s finally happening. We’re finally setting up the village.” It had taken two years to finally get everything organized but the clone relocation act was finally passed. Now her friends, her brothers, her family were finally going to live near them. Bending down, she carefully pulled the four loaves of bread out of the oven and placed them on the stove to cool. “Let’s go and welcome them!”
Rex smirked before helping her pull off her apron. “I’m sure they’re all excited to see you.” He tried to sneak a piece of the bread but only received a hand swat in return.
“Those are for dinner tonight. No snaking.” Zirena stuck her tongue out at him before leading her family out of their villa.
-*-
“Wow, you’re absolutely glowing!” Padme moved down the ramp of her ship in beautifully elegant steps. Behind her the squeals of her twins rang out across the open field. “Like, Leia! Come say hi to your Aunt Zirena and Uncle Rex”.
Said twins made their way down the ramp quickly, each holding the other's hand. In unison they both happily said hello before smiling at Ziva.
“Already in Padawan uniforms?” The presence of the familiar Jedi braid on each child didn’t go unnoticed by Zirena. Her hand rested on the back of Ziva before she nudged her forward. “Go say hello to your cousins.”
“You know Anakin. The moment they showed the smallest sign of force ability he was training them.” Padme smiled at Ziva. “Now look how big you’ve gotten.”
Ziva looked at her boots nervously before looking up at her Aunt. “Papa says I’m almost old enough to fire his blaster.”
“He what?” Zirena looked to her husband who quickly looked away. “Think we’ll discuss that later.”
“Don’t worry. Anakin had a saber in Leia's hand at three and a half. Nearly gave me a heart attack.” Padme nudged Leia forward. “Why don’t you three go play, while the adults talk?”
Leia nodded and reached over to Ziva. “Come on, Ziva! We can chase Luke!”
Luke looked up from the green grass of Chandrila upon hearing his name. “Wait, why me?”
Leia smirked as she crossed her arms. “Because I’m older. That’s why.”
“Nu uh! Dad said I’m older!” Luke looked up at his mother, eyes pleading. “Mom! Tell Leia I’m older!”
Padme simply rolled her eyes and urged her children to go play. “I’m never going to confirm who is older.” A unison whine was released from each child before running off with Ziva.
“Ziva! You kids stay away from the forest line! You know how angry that wild Cairnmog gets!” Chewing her lip she watched her daughter wave to her before vanishing into the field.
“She’s still not showing force powers?” Padme watched as Zirena shook her head. “She has the midichlorian count, right?”
“Yeah. It’s high too. But I didn’t show any signs until I was around six.” Zirena spoke softly as her hand rubbed her stomach, feeling her little one kick in response.
“And if she never shows the signs then I’ll take care of training her. She is part clone.” Rex winked at her before looking back to Padme. “Where is General Skywalker?”
“He’s flying in with the rest of the boys. Something about wanting to make an entrance.” Knowing her husband it could be anything.
As if on cue the sound of LAATs entering the atmosphere drew their attention. The vehicles, painted in the different colors of the different squadrons of clones, made a few circles in the sky above them. Zirena chuckled at the sight of the familiar transports. The colors lit up the sky wonderfully and with a gentle wave she watched as clones dove out of the ships. Parachutes and jet packs were deployed as confetti and flowers followed the clones. Familiar faces circled Zirena as Fives and the others began to land.
“Senators!” Fives landed with a small grunt before pulling Zirena into a hug. “Wow, you’re a lot bigger than I remember! Ouch!” Fives rubbed the back of his head as he received a slap from Rex.
Zirena chuckled softly as her hand rested on top of her stomach. “Last time you saw me I wasn’t pregnant with this one.”
Fives nodded. “It’s been what? A year and a half?” When Zirena nodded, he whistled softly. “ Been too long. Where’s my Niece?”
“Off playing with Luke and Leia.” Rex motioned over his shoulder towards the field. “Your wife should be arriving sometime tomorrow, if you’re interested.”
“I spoke with her before we headed down. She’s finishing up some project for your uncle and then she’ll be heading over.” Fives couldn’t wait for his wife, Zirenas cousin, Liza to arrive. They had their own news to share.
“Good ol’ uncle Silas. Working her until the very end.” Zirena sighed softly before looking at the groups of clones exiting the transports. It was a decent amount more than she was expecting, but they’d make it work.”
Familiar faces from the 212th, 501st, 104th and the 187th all smiled towards them. The sound of a final ship entering the atmosphere made Zirena smile brightly. Clone Force 99 was joining them as well. Perfect.
“You look ready to pop, Zee.” Anakin walked over from one of the transports and placed a kiss on Padmes cheek. “Should you be out here with all this commotion?”
Zirena waved her hand in the air dismissively. “I’ve got two weeks until I’m due. Kix says he’s resting comfortably and isn’t going anywhere.”
“Speaking of our friendly neighborhood medic. Where is he?” Anakin looked around the group, trying to spot the familiar clone.
“He ran into town with BD and Cal. Something about an important shipment coming in.” Shrugging, Zirena looked around the group of clones. Some clearly older than the younger ones. The facilities had only just been shut down a year prior. There would still be a few more waves of clones.
“Thank you all for coming. We have a long road ahead as we build this community, but the people of Chandrila are already doing what we can to help get you started. Please, follow Rex and he will lead you all to the buildings we currently have waiting for you all.” Zirena stepped to the side and motioned for Rex to step forward.
Rex placed his hands on his hips as he stepped forward. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us men. Myself, General Skywalker and a few other captains will help direct all of you on where to start. But know that it will be a few weeks before everyone has their own place.” Around them clones nodded in agreement while some groaned. “In preparation for everyone's arrival, my very pregnant wife has planned dinner for everyone. So let’s get to work until it’s dinner time!” A roar of applause surrounded them as the clones began to work their way down the path.
With a happy hum, Zirena waved to everyone as they walked by. “May need some help with dinner.” She looked at Padme. “Think you could help?”
“Of course. I’ll try to grab a few helpful clones as well.” She walked over and placed a protective hand over Zirenas stomach. “You need to go sit down or else this one’s gonna make his appearance sooner than planned.”
“Exactly what I was going to say.” Tech smiled as he approached the woman. “At this stage in your pregnancy you should be resting.”
“When I was at the same point with Ziva I was fighting Dooku.” Zirena placed her hands on her hips. “So I think I’ll be fine.”
“Do you not remember delivering her two days later in the middle of my ship?” Crosshair crossed his arms as he took in Zirenas large size. She seemed bigger than when she was pregnant with Ziva.
Zirena waved off Crosshair's comment.“Your ship? That’s funny. Thought it was Techs.”
“It’s all of our ship.” Hunter smiled as he walked over to Zirena and hugged her carefully. “You look good.” Though the scent she was giving off was somewhat familiar, why?
“And I remember you complaining in the pilot's seat while I delivered Ziva.” Echo smiled brightly as he looked around for said child. “Where is my favorite little clone?”
“Playing with the Skywalkers.” Zirena pointed over to the field where the grass could be seen moving. “She’ll be excited to see you. All she’s been talking about is showing you her new book.”
Echo loved knowing that he was one of Zivas favorite people. “Let me help you with dinner and then I’ll go find her.”
Zirena smiled brightly as she looked around for Wrecker. “Wait, where’s Wrecker?”
“Trying to let go of Omega.” Hunter thumbed over his shoulder towards the Marauder where Wrecker was hugging Omega tightly.
“He does know she’s not going away, right? She’s just moving in with Cal and Hera?” Zirena was almost ready to step in and save the poor girl from the bear hug she was currently in.
“It’ll be the first time we’ve lived without her in over five standard years.” Tech had to admit that he was also feeling a bit sad at the thought.
Ah, well that would make her feel sad as well. “You guys will be ok.” A grumble from her stomach had her smiling softly. “Think it’s time for a snack. Let’s head back to the villa.”
-*-
“Aunt Zirena? Can we eat our lunch in the field?” Luke smiled excitedly up at Zirena who rested in one of the chairs near the kitchen. “We made a super cool fort and want to eat there!”
“Is that where the girls are?” Padme looked over from the counter, a knife in her hand as she finished making a few sandwiches.
“Yeah! Leia sent me on a recon mission for supplies!” Luke looked at the group of clones in the kitchen. “It’s top secret though! So don’t tell daddy!”
Echo chuckled as he helped pack up the kids' lunches. “I’ll help you carry your supplies back, Captain Skywalker.” He winked at the child who smiled excitedly. It would give him a chance to check on the girls as well.
“Thanks, Echo.” Watching as her friend helped out Luke, Zirena winced slightly. Everyone’s eyes turned quickly to her and she held a hand up. “Just a little kick! Calm down.”
Now Hunter recognized that scent. Walking over to Zirena he took her hand in his. “Zee, that kid is coming soon. You’re giving off that same smell as you did before Ziva came.”
“Nope. He’s hanging on until his due date. Not having another kid early.” Her and Rex had purposely avoided anything that could kick start her delivery, including sex.
“Actually, statistically your second child has a higher chance of coming early then your first. He’ll also most likely come much quicker as well.” Tech adjusted his goggles as he looked over his datapad.
“Well I haven’t had any contractions, so obviously he’s not coming now.” Waving her hand at everyone she tried to push them away. “Go. I promise to let you all know the moment I start having contractions.”
-*-
“Uncle Echo!” Ziva ran and jumped into her uncle's waiting arm. “Mama didn’t tell me you were coming!”
Echo knelt down and hugged the small child tightly. “It was a surprise.” His brown eyes looked at the structure the kids had constructed. It looked good, sturdy. It was made out of twigs and long flower stalks. Holding up the bag of treats he smirked at the three kids. “Brought you guys some supplies. May have snuck some yummy treats in there for ya.” A wink was passed to the kids as Echo stood up. He’d hang around for a bit and monitor them, if only to ease Zirenas worries.
Back at the Village, Rex and Anakin worked to organize everyone. “Cody! Can you have your group start work on clearing sector four?”
Cody nodded as he gathered his group. “That's gonna be the site for the cafe?” When Rex nodded and passed him the plans he rubbed his chin in thought. “Looks good Rex. You put a lot of thought into all of this.”
“Was all Zirena. Once she went on pregnancy leave she got to work on the plans for this place. Can’t keep her still for more than five minutes.” Much to Rexs arguments that her rest was important.
“She getting stir crazy?” Cody remembered how stir crazy Zirena had been with Ziva. The woman had tried organizing his office on Kamino, much to Cody’s dismay.
Rex sighed as he ran a hand over his graying beard. “You have no idea. Kix says she’s nesting. All I know is I woke up this morning and she was painting the baby’s room again.”
Anakin coughed as he tried to stifle a laugh. “Padme wanted to switch out the twins' entire bedding and curtains a week before she was due.”
“Think you two will have another?” Rex nudged Anakin.
“No way. We could potentially have another set of twins and I don’t think I could handle four kids plus being on the council.” He was barely surviving now. “Speaking of the council.”
Rex quickly held his hands up. “She’s dead set on staying in the senate. Says she needs some time away from the Order.”
Anakin sighed softly. No one could say he didn’t try. “ The position is there for her when she’s ready. Could use her help building this new Order.”
“Maybe after the baby’s born. But for now she’s just happy being a Senator and a mom.” And Rex was loving being a dad. His little Ziva was his everything and soon he’d have a son as well. Everything they’d ever dreamed about.
A loud scream from the field stopped their conversation and Rex quickly turned his head. “Ziva!” Blaster fire rang out as a loud roar shook the ground and he felt his stomach drop. His feet moved fast and soon he was crossing the field towards the kids.
Ziva and the twins hid behind Echo as the large Cairnmog circled them angrily. Little faces fought back tears as the scary beast roared loudly once more. They’d been minding their own business when the beast had shown up and ran through their fort, destroying everything in its path. Echo had fired warning shots in the air to try and scare the beast away, only succeeding in making it circle them instead.
“Ziva. Take Luke and Leia and make a run for the village. I’ll try to hold it off.” His robotic hand blacked the kids from moving forward. He’d most likely die in the process but at least he was protecting his best friends daughter and her friends.
She didn’t want to leave her Uncle behind. But Luke’s hand pulled her wrist and she stumbled away slightly. “Uncle Echo!” Ziva suddenly felt herself lifted into the air and looking back she noticed Anakin making his way towards them.
“Cody! Take the kids and get back to the Villa!” With a simple twitch of his hand the kids were gently flung by the force to the waiting clones behind him. Rex was already ahead of them firing at the beast.
Ziva buried her face into Cody’s shoulder and tried to block out the sound of the beast's roar and the blaster fire. Then as quickly as it started it was over. A long whine escaped Ziva as the adrenaline left her body. Warm hands patted her back gently as Cody tried to calm her down.
“There, there. You’re safe. We got ya.” Cody cooed softly trying to relax the child as Anakin looked over his own kids.
“What happened?” Anakin asked the children carefully. His hand ran over Leias bun and Luke’s long braid.
“Something set off the Cairnmog. He doesn’t usually come into the field like this.” Rex looked around at the mess that was the kids' fort. His eyes fell on Zirenas bag that had been used to transport the food. A thought crossed his mind and quickly he pulled out his comm. “Tech. Can animals sense pregnancy off of someone’s bag or clothing?”
It took a moment for Tech to reply but when he did his voice was rushed. “In some instances, yes. Especially when the animal or person is close to delivery.” A loud cry echoed through the device. “Sorry, Captain. I need to go.”
“Woah, Woah, Woah! What’s happening? Is she ok?” Rex looked around at the group and the deceased remains of the beast. It would feed everyone for the next two days. He’d need to plan a pickup.
“Is that Rex?” Zirena looked at Tech from her bed. When the clone nodded she held her hand out, demanding he pass over his comm. When he finally did she quickly spoke into it. “Your son has decided today's a good day to make an entrance! Get back here, now!”
Rex couldn’t contain the smile that spread across his face. His son was coming. “Roger, Roger.” He needed to move fast.
“Not funny!” Zirenas whined out as another contraction hit her body. She had hoped this time would be a little smoother, but of course nothing could come easy.
He thought it was funny. “Come on, Princess. Your little brother is coming.” Walking over to Cody, Rex took his daughter in his hand.
“Congrats, Captain. We’ll take care of all of this. Get back to Zirena before she kills ya.” He knew the clone had missed Ziva's birth, no way he could miss his sons.
Nodding, Rex took off to the Villa with Ziva tight against his chest. Soon he’d have a son.
-*-
“She’s been in there for seven hours. How is that kid not here yet?” Crosshair chewed the end of his toothpick harshly as he tried to remain calm. All around him the other clones had resorted to playing cards, reading or even sleeping. It seemed the entire village was holding their breath.
“Come on, Zee. One last big push.” Kix looked up at the woman from between her legs. “I’ve got his head in my hand right now. One last push and he’ll be here.” Delivering his friends child was a gift he’d never get over.
A whine came from Zirena as her head fell back against the pillow she was propped up against. “I’m so tired.” She had just started her lunch when the contractions had hit full force.
Rex ran a cool cloth over her forehead as she closed her eyes. “You can do it, I know you can.” If he could help her then he would. But this seemed to be something only she could handle.
“Zee, let me see your hand.” Kix carefully reached over the blanket with one hand, the infant's head balanced in the other. Taking Zirenas offered hand, he slid it down between her legs. “Feel that? That’s your sons head.”
Tears of happiness burned at her eyes as she felt her son. He was almost there. She could do this. The hand that was being held by Rexs squeezed him tightly. “I can feel another contraction.”
“That’s it, Zee. Use it and all of your energy to get him here.” Kix pulled a towel onto his leg and patiently waited.
Rex pressed his forehead against Zirenas sweat covered head. “I’ve seen you do amazing things, Meshla. But birthing our children is the most miraculous thing ever. Use my strength. Take anything you need, you can do this.” A kiss was pressed tk her parched lips and Rex felt her grip tighten once more.
Her scream filled the room and the rest of the villa as Zirena rode out her final contraction. It was long and painful and she felt as though she’d die. But Rex held her tightly. Whispered to her sweetly and gave her the strength he could. With a gasp she fell back against the pillows and panted as sleep pulled at her. She was officially spent.
“Amazing job. He’s here.” Kix worked quickly to wrap the child up in the towel. “Rex, come here.”
“I’ll be right back, Mesh’la.” Rex moved towards the end of the bed and smiled at the sight of his sons black hair. It seemed he got his mothers hair. “What do you need?”
Not looking away from the infant, Kix passed Rex a pair of surgical scissors. “Here, cut your child’s cord.” Kix pointed to where the cord was clamped. “Right there.”
Rex swallowed as he stared at the cord. He’d get to do this? “S-sure.” Why did he feel so nervous suddenly? With shaky hands he clipped the cord and watched as Kix finished wrapping the child up.
“Captain, meet your son.” Carefully Kix passed the child to Rex and smiled as Rex instantly melted.
“Rex?” Zirena looked through sleepy eyes towards her husband.
“Hey. Let’s meet your mommy.” Rex spoke in a hushed voice as he moved back to the head of the bed. “Look what we made, Starlight.”
Zirena smiled as their child was placed against her chest. “He’s perfect.” Her fingers gently tapped the infant's little nose. “He looks like you.”
“I thought he looked like you with this gorgeous black hair”. Rexs fingers ran carefully across the baby’s hair.
“You two have a name?” Kix looked at them from his datapad, waiting to input the information and for the afterbirth to come.
“Yeah. We have one.”
-*-
Everyone stood outside the room door with bated breath after hearing Zirena scream. The silence was painful as they all waited for news. The children had been put to bed on Padmes ship to keep them from being woken up which made the silence almost earie. But then the door finally opened and Rex stepped out with a small bundle in his arms.
“Everyone meet our newest shiny. Garen Rexalus Ka’ve.” He couldn’t take his eyes off the child, he was perfect in every way. “Gar, for short.”
Wrecker chuckled loudly at the child’s nickname. “Hey! That’s like Grand Army of the Republic!”
Rex nodded as he finally looked at everyone. “She wanted a special name that represented all the people who had an impact on our lives.”
Anakin smiled as he stepped forward and looked at the child. “He’s strong in the force. You’ll have your hands full.”
“Not surprised.” Rex chuckled softly.
“How’s Zee?” Echo stepped forward and looked at the small infant. Unbelievable that people could make such beautiful things.
“She’s doing good. Kix is helping to clean her up. Told her I’d go grab some food for her. She’s starving.” Looking around he wondered how he’d do that.
“Got ya covered.” Cody stepped forward with a bag of snacks. “Figured you’d both be starving.”
Rex took the bag with one hand and pushed it onto his shoulder. “Thanks.”
“Oh good, you’re all here.” Kix stepped out of the bedroom wiping his hands on a towel. “Zirena is resting for now. While she did that I thought I’d fill you all in on some news.”
Anakin raised an eyebrow carefully. “What news?”
Reaching into his pocket, Kix pulled out a stim. “Nala Se finished her aging antidote. With this we will no longer age at a rapid pace.”
“Impressive. They actually finished it.” Tech stepped forward and took the stim from Kix, his golden eyes looking over it carefully.
“So we’ll age normally?” Amazing. Rex looked down at his son. He’d be able to grow old with his family, with his wife. “Is there enough for everyone?”
Kix nodded. “Full shipment for our settlement will be delivered tomorrow from Hanna.”
Rex really was the luckiest clone in the galaxy. Two beautiful children, a mind blowing wife, the closeness of his brothers and now the ability to live out his life with his family.
Finally, everything was perfect.

Day 11 of 12 days of Batchmas- Bogano and Boglings
Tumblr media
“Cal! Don’t go too far!” Zirena chewed her lip as her Padawan and Omega took off towards the many cliffs of the planet they now stood on. Off in the distance a Binog watched the children with interest as Boglings scurried away.
Wrecker reached over and squeezed her shoulder gently. “Don’t worry so much, Zee! Have some fun!”
Zirena watched as Cal flipped over one of the ledges before reaching out to help Omega. The female clone easily jumped the gap and the two high fives before running deeper into the mesas. He had his communicator if he got into trouble. Making a face, Zirena let BD down to the ground. “Make sure they stay out of trouble?”
BD whistled in agreement before taking off quickly after them.
“You really must give your padawan more leeway. He will be fine.” Master Fisto patted her back before adjusting the bag that hung over his shoulder.
“Easy for you to say.” Zirena sighed as she double checked she had her saber. “He’s not your padawan. He’s mine and I know the trouble he can get into.”
Kit chuckled and motioned for them to begin their track to the large mountain ahead of them. That’s where they’d find the vault they were looking for. “Come on, this is gonna take us a bit to deliver.”
“Are you sure this is a smart idea? Hiding something as important as this all the way out here?” Green eyes slid to the satchel that Fisto carried.
“I don’t like the idea either. But if what Cordova said was true….then we really should explore every avenue to protect these children.” No one else would believe Cordova besides himself and a small group of others. It was up to them to hide the holocron.
Making a face, Zirena nodded as she followed behind him. “The fall of the Jedi. It’s still hard to believe.”
-*-
“Woah! Cal! Look up!” Omega pointed to the ceiling where the large binog looked down at them inquisitively. “What do you think it’s called?”
A chirp from behind them alerted them to BD now running over excitedly. Scanning the large beast he chittered information to Cal and Omega.
“A binog? How cool!” Cal raised his hand up towards the beast, wishing he could touch it.
The Binog looked at the two small children with interest. He wasn’t sure what these little things were, but he liked them. Leaning his face down farther he allowed the red furred one to pat his nose. Oh now he really liked that. With a huff he turned and looked at the yellow furred one. It’s eyes went wide and hesitantly raised its hand to pet him as well.
Omega couldn’t believe she was touching this giant beast! “BD! Take a picture!”
BD whirled and ran farther from them to get everything in frame. After snatching the photo he chittered excitedly.
“You know, I bet if Master Kenobi was here he’d be able to get the Binog to let us ride it.” Cal carefully ran his hand over the brown fur of the beast, impressed with how soft it was.
“That would be the coolest!” Omega really liked the big beast, it was sweet.
Back towards the entrance, BD beeped excitedly, ready to show the kids more things. From his scan of the planet there were a lot of cool places to check out.
Cal sighed and gently patted the Binog. “Looks like that’s our cue to go.” Stepping away from the beast, Cal reached over and took Omegas hand. Together the two left the small gorge they were in and moved to explore more of the planet.
-*-
“Umm…when Master Cordova told you about this vault. Did he mention to you that it would be a very tight squeeze?” How in the galaxy was she supposed to fit through this gap?
Kit chuckled as he watched Zirena stare at the opening. “Well, if you didn’t have such a nice rack and an ass sculpted by the Force itself. Maybe this would be easier.”
Zirena rolled her eyes. “Well, they’re not going anywhere so what’s the plan?”
“We could strip and then lube you up.” Kit wiggled his eyes at her.
“Cause that’s totally the way we should go.” Placing her hands on her hips, Zirena made a face before stepping forward and beginning to slowly wiggle her way through the opening.
“Well, you can’t blame a guy for trying.” Moving next to her, he helped push her through. How in the world did Master Cordova squeeze through this? Maybe there was a backdoor somewhere?
“Stars, this is amazing!” Never had she seen such an impressive place. “ Think of the historic implications of this place. What we could learn about early force users!”
“It’s certainly impressive.” Kit pulled the holocron from his bag and looked at it. This would be where they’d hide it. Safe and secured in this place only they and Cordova knew about. Their mission was a secret, their flight paths went unrecorded and their frequencies scrambled. Until they were far away there would be no contact with anyone either. This was right.
Zirenas emerald eyes looked at the holocron as Kit slid it carefully into the slot on the floor. “I hope it never comes to this. Scrambling to the edge of the Galaxy for the last list of force sensitives.” Visibly she shivered at the thought of the order falling.
“We’ll do whatever it takes to prevent that. Did you do what Cordova asked?” With a soft click the holocron vanished into the ground.
“Yeah. BDs emergency protocol has been updated. He knows what to do.” She didn’t like all of this secrecy, especially from her padawan. Her Padawan, he’d be at risk if something happened as well.
“You’ve trained him well, I’ve seen it. He’ll be ok if something happens.” To know this was something that had to even discuss was nerve wracking. But it was a necessary discussion.
“I hope so. For all the worry I give, he’s at least very responsible. I know that if we were to be separated he’d survive.” She had faith in her Padawan. He had a good head on his shoulder.
-*-
“Not. A. Word.” Cal sighed as he stood up from the muddy bog he’d fallen into. Up the slope he’d fallen down, Omega was giggling. “Master is gonna kill me. I promised her I’d stay clean this time.” It wasn’t really his fault that he’d slipped down the slope, right?
Omega looked around for some kind of vine or rope to help the padawan out of the marsh he was in. She’d get a scolding from Tech and Crosshair if she came back filthy. “Can’t you like…Jedi jump out of there or something?” She’d seen Zirena get out of worse situations.
Groaning, Cal fell back into the marsh before laying in the mud and accepting his fate. “That’s next week in training.” If he’d live long enough to see it. Zirena was going to be disappointed in him for getting so dirty.
A noise next to him drew his attention and turning his head, Cal watched as a weird bunny-like creature hopped towards him. It’s large black eyes stared at him as it’s nose twitched quickly. It looked so fluffy. Reaching out his muddy hand to the beast, Cal hoped it would let him pet it.
“I wonder what it’s called.” Omega stretched her neck to try and see the creature. Her hand gripped the edge of the slope for balance but it seemed a certain droid had a better plan. Gasping in surprise, Omega tumbled down the slope and landed with a loud plop next to Cal. The little creature jumped away for a moment before carefully creeping close once more.
Cal laughed loudly at Omega, a large glob of mud colored her hair from blonde to dark brown. “Now we’ll both get in trouble!”
Now that looked like fun! With a loud whistle, BD dove off the slope and into the mud as well. He chittered a few times while recording all of them. This would be fun to show Zirena later!
“BD, No!” Cal knew for a fact he’d be the one to have to clean the droid now. He watched the droid jump in place excitedly for a moment before scanning the creature from earlier.
The droid trilled off information to the two children and Omega smiled at the new knowledge. “A Bogling! It’s so cute!” She wondered if she could keep it? If she asked Wrecker he’d totally let her. “So they dig burrows and lay eggs! That’s really cool!”
“A group of them is called a Heckle. That’s a pretty funny name.” Cal smiled as the boggling pressed it’s nose into his hand. Oh, it was soft! “You know. I bet my Master would let me keep it! Her apartment is big enough!”
“Think so! That would be so cool!” Omega moved to stand up but slipped on the mud beneath her feet. Squeaking loudly she felt something pull her and suddenly she was on top of Cal. The two kids stared at each other before hearing a noise behind them. “BD, No!”
“Did he just…take another picture?” Cal stared daggers at the droid. Omega nodded above him and they both swallowed. “As long as he doesn’t send it to anyone. I think we’ll be ok.”
Send it to someone? Oh that would be brilliant! Maybe his master? Oh what about Captain Rex? He got it! With another few trills he sent the picture to Fives and Echo. They’d get a laugh out of it!
Cals eyes went wide at the sound of the trills. “He just sent it.”
Omega jumped away from Cal as she gasped. “To who?”
Oh that wasn’t going to be good. “Echo and Fives.”
“Echo?” She was dead! More than dead, she was history!
BD wasn’t sure why they were so upset, he liked the picture!
“We need to get out of here and hope Echo hasn’t seen the picture yet!” Cal struggled to stand up in the slippery mud. They needed to get back to the ship before they got in trouble.
Omega pushed herself off the ground once more and carefully shuffled her way towards the slope they’d fallen down. “Maybe if we move slowly we can get up this?” They just needed something to grab onto. Beside her the Bogling chittered before bouncing by them and easily up the slope. Omega sighed as she slid back down. “Show off.”
-*-
Chewing her lip impatiently, Zirena paced back and forth outside the Marauder. “Where is he?” Her padawan still wasn’t back yet and this place was littered with cliffs and deep holes. They could be stuck somewhere for all she knew!
“You remind me of Master Windu when you went missing on Coruscant.” Kit leaned back against the ship and sipped his tea slowly. “He was absolutely terrified you’d fallen down a shaft somewhere.”
“This isn’t the same! I was hiding from him because I lost my saber. Cal could be in trouble! Stuck in a hole or or or cornered by a beast or…” her hands flailed as she continued to worry.
Kit chuckled as he stepped away from the ship.“Or riding a Binog caked in mud with Omega holding a Bogling and BD leading the charge?”
“Yeah! Or riding a…” wait, that was extremely specific. Turning around, Zirena sighed as she watched her padawan sheepishly wave to her. “Cal, I’m going to need a lot of answers.” Pinching the bridge of her nose, she questioned her sanity.
The Binog carefully relaxed into the ground near the ship while letting out a long breath. Cal carefully slid off the great beast before turning and offering a hand up to Omega. “Pass Pickles down?”
“Pickles?” Kit walked over and used the force to lower both Omega and the bogling down. “And who is pickles?” He chuckled as BD ran across his shoulders before running to Zirena.
“It’s the name of our bogling!” Omega smiled at the Jedi before nudging Cal. “Ask her.”
Zirena raised an eyebrow as she stepped towards the two, her arms crossed. “Ask me what? My little padawan?”
Oh, that was the tone she used when she wasn’t happy with him. Maybe this wasn’t the right time to ask. Another nudge from Omega had him swallowing before finally asking. “Master? Can we keep Pickles?”
Beside her, Master Fisto had excused himself to laugh very loudly behind her. There was no way he was keeping it. She watched as Cal nudged Omega back and the blonde held the bogling up towards her. It’s little nose wiggling at her. “Cal, Omega. It belongs here, in its natural environment.” It’s little eyes blinked at her a few times. Be strong, she couldn’t give in.
“There is the Coruscant Menagerie. They’re always looking for new specimens.” Kit had finally composed himself and had rejoined the conversation. “We could take the little guy back with us and send him there.”
“The menagerie?” Wasn’t that the place with all of the caged animals? Cal turned and looked at Omega, the corner of his lip in his mouth. “Umm, maybe my master is right.”
Omega sighed as she placed the little creature down. “Yeah, it wouldn’t exactly be fair to pickles, huh?”
Kit nudged Zirena with a smirk. Leaning over he whispered to her. “Works every time.”
Squinting as she stared at the little creature, a realization hit her. “Wait, you said the same thing to me three years ago when I tried to get Master Windu to let me keep that baby eopie!”
“Stopped you from getting it, didn’t I?” He was a pro at talking Younglings out of unnecessary pets. Now if he could just talk Bly out of collecting rocks from every planet they went to. Maybe he had a blind spot when it came to his clone?
Rolling her eyes, Zirena knelt in front of the two younglings. “It’s very wise of you to release him back. I’m sure he has a family that’s worried about him. You know they mate for life, right?”
Omega sighed as she watched the bogling hop away. “I’m gonna miss him.”
A noise from the Marauder drew the group's attention. “I know one way you kids can remember him.” Echo crossed the field to the group and passed Zirena his datapad. His eyes shooting daggers at Cal.
Zirena snorted out a laugh as she passed the datapad to Kit. It was a cute picture of Cal and Omega in the mud. Omega leaning over Cal with a shocked expression and the Bogling watching the two with a head tilt. She liked it, maybe she’d frame it? “Do I want to know?”
Cal shook his head and quickly tried to rush by them, red creeping across his cheeks. “Come on Omega. Let’s go give BD a bath!” He def didn’t want to talk about it.
Both Jedi shared a laugh as Cal stopped in front of Echo for a moment, before sheepishly waving and then sprinting off to the ship. Zirena watched as Echo turned to say something, reaching out she used the force to pull him back. “Relax, big brother. Cal knows better.”
Echo smirked as he looked over his shoulder at Zirena. “Not Cal I’m worried about. Don’t forget, Zee. Omega grew up around clones.”
Oh. Oh! With an inhale Zirena moved quickly after the Younglings. “Cal!”

Day 7 of the 12 Days of Bad Batchmas-Oops
Tumblr media
“Echo, this is a surprise.” Rex placed the datapad against his helmet while he looked over some other datapads. “What do I owe the pleasure?”
“Hey Captain, I was just checking to see if you needed us to stop on our way to Coruscant and pick up your gift for Zirena?” Echo had just finished wrapping her gift himself and seeing as the Marauder would be passing the Resolute he figured it would be smart to stop by.
“Uhh, I don’t have anything for her this time, thanks though. Why are you heading to Coruscant?” Did they have a new mission? He hadn’t heard anything.
Echo blinked a few times as he watched Rex continue on with his work. “For Zirenas day of days?”
Rex stopped and looked at the screen. “Her day of days?” Did he know what that is? Rex racked his brain trying to think of what that was.
“The day she was born? It’s a Chandrilian custom to celebrate that day.” Echo was positive Zirena had told Rex about that. “I’m sure she told you about it.”
She had, twice actually. Once when they were discussing each other's customs and the second time when she was heading to Senator Mothmas home for a celebration. Rex groaned loudly as he realized his mistake. “I completely forgot.”
The Domino clone grimaced at Rex. “Rex, noooo.” Maybe there was time for him to put something together?
“I know, I know.” Checking his calendar, he realized he had two standard days to figure something out. “When are you coming through?”
“I’m about six hours, Tech said.” Hopefully the Captain had an emergency present stash or something.
That could potentially be enough time to figure something out. “I’ll let you know if I need you to stop by. I need to go talk to the General.” Rex had zero ideas on what to get her. She was always so simple when she was a Jedi. But now she was part of the senate. Maybe she would want something to wear? How much did that kind of stuff cost?
“Good luck, sir.” He’d need it.
-*-
“General Skywalker, can we speak privately?” Rex looked at the Jedi from across the bridge. When Anakin nodded to him, he led him outside the room.
“What’s going on, Rex?” It wasn’t like the clone Captain to request a private meeting.
Rex took a moment to try and center his thoughts before asking exactly what he wanted. “I know it’s short notice but I need some leave, immediately.”
Well that wasn’t like Rex. “Can I ask why?”
“Zirenas day of days is in two days.” Rex made a face. “I may have forgotten to get her something, or that it was even coming up.”
Anakin hissed quickly. “ That’s…not good. Padmes been talking nonstop about the celebration she’s throwing for her.” To say Rex was in trouble was an understatement.
A groan came from the blonde as he shook his head. “There’s going to be a party?” How out of tune was he?
“It’s more of a political get together than a party.” Crossing his arms, Anakin stared at the clone. “You gonna need a ride?”
Rex shook his head as he pulled out his datapad. “Clone Force 99 is coming through this way. They’ve offered to grab me.” It would give him more time to think about what to get her.
“So what are you gonna get her?”
-*-
“How do you not know what to get your riduur?” The Marauder was making its way through hyperspace after picking up Rex. While things outside were calm and quiet, inside there was an air of stress.
Rex sighed as he placed his datapad down. A small list had been made and it seemed everything on it was a no go. “ Things are different now, she has this new position, dresses differently. She has an image to uphold.”
Echo raised an eyebrow, confused. “I’m sorry. Did I black out and miss where Zirena suddenly changed?”
Well that was a side of Echo he hadn’t expected. “No. But she…”
“She nothing. Zirena is still the same exact Jedi that yelled at you within thirty minutes of knowing you. The same Jedi whose sass is why you fell for her.” Echo stretched his arm over his head before leaning back in his seat. “Look, if anyone knows her, it’s you.”
Rexs knee bounced as he tried to think about what she’d like. He thought about the memories they shared, everything they’d gone through together. What she loved, what she hated. He knew she loved Chandrila, loved flowers, BD, him. Maybe he could work with that.
Echo could see Rex deep in thought and decided it best to give the Captain space. “Make a list, we’ll help however we can.”
“Thanks.” Picking up his datapad again, Rex worked through a new list.
Things to get Zirena
~ Flowers from Chandrila- florist?
~ necklace or earrings
~ New paint job on BD
~ new book
~ Chocolates from favorite bakery
~ New weapon?
~ stuffed doll
It had taken him an hour to write that much down but he was pleased with the list. Once they landed on Chandrila he’d start looking. Sighing happily he placed the tablet down and looked at the others. “What did you guys get her?”
Omega was the first to speak, excited to share what she got. “I found these really pretty paints on this forest planet we visited! Cal is gonna sneak Bd away and we’re gonna paint him!” Holding up the opal paint she smiled as it shimmered in the light. “It’s made from the leftover powder of gemstones when they’re cut and shaped!”
“Wow, those are gorgeous.” Rex reached over and took one of the jars and turned it in his fingers, really gorgeous. Handing the jar back he looked down at his tablet and crossed out one of the options.
~ new paint job on BD
It wasn’t one of the big ones, so he figured he’d be ok.
Wrecker was next to speak. Reaching behind him he pulled out a roughly sewn together doll. “She really liked my lula! So I tried to make her one of her own with help from 99!” The older clone had made him his Lula, he’d been extremely helpful with making one for Zirena.
“Still don’t understand why you didn’t just let the old man make it completely.” Crosshair leaned back in his seat, a toothpick in his mouth.
“Because it means more coming from him.” Omega rolled her eyes before taking the new lula and looking it over. “I can hardly see the thread! You
Got a lot better!” A high five was passed between the two before they looked back at the group.
“Tech and I came across a real leather bound book of fairytales with hand drawn illustrations. She’s gonna love it.” The book in question had been a lucky find in an outer rim junk store. It was buried under a pile of old clothing that hadn’t been moved in years.
“From what I can tell, it’s roughly sixty years old, it’s in remarkable condition.” Just a small amount of the pages were damaged and the book had needed airing out. But other than that, it was perfect for the Jedi.
“Still made the ship smell like wet feet for a week.” Crosshair stood up and walked over to his bunk before pulling out a small box. “Found this for her on that paradise planet we stopped at.” Opening the box he revealed a folded fan. When the others gave him an odd look, he pulled the item out and unfolded it. The sound of metal scrapping echoed quietly in the room as it fluttered open. Black and red designs swirled across the fan. Grabbing a piece of fruit from its crate, Crosshair used the fam to slice it quickly. “Bladed fan. Sharp, deadly, but easy for her to hide.”
Hunter rolled his eyes as he pulled his gift to Zirena out of his own crate. “Took me a while, but I carved her a small version of that tree you two were in front of.”
“The tintolive.” It was a spitting image of the tree but at the size of a bonsai plant. She’d have them with her forever now, no need to worry about them dying. Rex sighed softly as he crossed out more on his list.
~ Flowers from Chandrila- florist?
~ necklace or earrings
~ New paint job on BD
~ new book
~ Chocolates from favorite bakery
~ New weapon?
~ stuffed doll
Necklace and chocolate was all that was left. He could make that work, the necklace would need to be absolutely perfect. He knew exactly what chocolates to get her, the place she enjoyed carried Chandrilian themed chocolate. All of that would make for an almost perfect gift for her.
Looking over his Captain's shoulder, Echo frowned at the list. They’d kinda knocked off so many for him. He felt bad. “I’ll help you look.” If anyone knew Zirena almost as well as Rex, it was him.
-*-
“Mesh’la! Look at you.” Rex smiled at the sight of his fiancé on the datapad. Her hair hung in soft curls around her shoulder, contrasting against the white and gold gown she wore. That beautiful smile he’d fallen for graced her perfect lips as the freckles peppered her nose and cheeks. “You look stunning.”
Zirenas eyes lit up as he complimented her. “You think so?” When he nodded to her she sighed happily. “Oh thank goodness. I wasn’t sure all my gifts would blend together nicely.”
“Your gifts?” Rex looked her over slowly. “Dress from Padme?”
“Mhmm!” Smiling, she turned her head to the side to show a flowered hair pin. “My aunt and uncle sent this hair pin. Senator Mothma gifted me these lovely earrings and Cody sent me this necklace.” Her manicured fingers pointed to the green gemstone resting just above her breasts. “He said it complimented both of our eyes.” Chuckling softly she looked at Rex. “Which I think means it compliments yours as well.”
~ necklace or earrings
Rex forced a smile as she showed him each gift. Two more things off of his list. All that he could think of would be the chocolates. He half heartedly chuckled at her comment. “Then he was thinking of all of us. It’ll compliment any clone you stand next to. Though you next to any of us is a compliment in itself.” He could at least still be cheesy with her.
A blush spread across Zirenas cheeks. “Aren’t you just the sweetest.” Her fingers moved the pendant back and forth a few times as she sat in thought. “I wish you were here.” It would be so much better to celebrate her day of days with him.
“I know. I’m sorry, Starlight.” He needed to find the perfect gift for her before he could tell her that he’d be on planet. “Hopefully I’ll see you soon.”
-*-
Closed for a family event on Naboo. Will return in two weeks.
Rex never hated a sign so much in his life. The bakery she loved was closed. “Unbelievable.” With a defeated sigh, Rex leaned against the wall of the shop.
~ Chocolates from favorite bakery
That was it, he was out of ideas. Her celebration was later that night and he had nothing to give her. How could he have allowed himself to forget her day of days like this? How could he struggle so hard to find her something? What kind of fiancé was he?
Pushing off of the wall, Rex decided the least he could do was surprise her at her apartment. He’d be showing up empty handed, but at least he could give her the gift of him.
-*-
A knock on her door drew Zirenas attention away from the book she had been reading. A beautiful romance and adventure novel about an undercover spy falling in love with her target. Zirena loved every second of the cheesy book. Placing the datapad down she moved across the room quickly. Her silk robe flowed around her pajamas as her bare feet padded on the warm floor. Cold days like this always made her happy to have heated floors.
Opening the doors she let out a loud shriek. “Rex!” He was there! How was he there? Why was he there? She honestly didn’t care, he was there! Her arms quickly wrapped around his neck as she pulled him into a tight and happy hug.
There were many things Rex enjoyed in his short life. Perfectly filed forms, organized storage rooms, nicely cleaned guns and the calming sight of the vastness of space when they waited for orders. But nothing would ever compare to the look of pure unrestrained happiness on her face. She almost looked like she’d cry. The moment her arms were around his neck, his were around her waist. Lifting and carrying her into her apartment. Lips found his and he reveled in the wonderfully sweet taste of her lip gloss. “Surprise.” Was whispered briefly before lips were back on his.
“I’m so happy you’re here. I missed you so much.” Small tears pulled at the corner of her eyes. It really had only been two months since they’d last seen each other. And while that was still a long time, it was nothing compared to those almost six months they had before.
“Not as much as I missed you.” Rubbing his nose against hers, Rex simply enjoyed her closeness and the feeling of her warmth in his arms.
“How did you get here?” She hadn’t seen anything about the five oh first coming this way.
Rex hummed as he placed her down and led her to the couch. “Flew in with the batch.”
Ah, now that made sense. “I’m supposed to be seeing them in a few hours! Echo hid you coming very well.”
“Honestly, I wasn’t supposed to.” Making a face he decided it best to be honest. “I forgot about your day of days. So I came in with the guys in order to find you the perfect gift. But everything I thought of getting you, someone else had.”
A beautiful laugh erupted from Zirena as she listened to him continue on. “Oh Rex. I figured you’d forget. There’s a lot going on right now, this is minuscule compared to what’s going on in the outer rim.” Would she have been slightly hurt he forgot? Sure. But there was a war going on, he was in charge of one of the best squadrons in the GAR and his General was Skywalker. She would not have held it against him.
Rex felt equal parts ridiculous for allowing everyone to get into his head over this and relieved that she would have understood. He really was lucky when it came to Zirena.
“As for the perfect gift.” Zirena placed her hand against his chest as her emerald eyes found his caramel ones. “This right here is the perfect gift. You being here right now. Able for me to touch and hug and kiss? That’s all I’ve been wanting.” She’d tell him about the matching bracelet Cody sent with Rexs name on it later. For now she just wanted to savor this.
“Oh.” Well that worked in his favor. “I still feel bad that I didn’t get you anything.” His fingers ran across her cheek and pushed some hair behind her ear.
Zirena hummed as a happy thought came to her. “ Well, I know something you can give me.” With a wink she stood and walked towards her room.
Rex caught her train of thought quickly and was only a few steps behind her. Now this was definitely something he could give her.
