Being from Alberta, French is her second language. She isn't quite fluent, being nowhere near Quebec, but she knows a bit. And she knows plenty of Quebecois swears and insults. She doesn't say them often but if she gets fed up, she might bust one out. She also learned "bless their heart" from Marilyn, and knows that it's a very kind way to say "they're stupid"

The thing about Kim Dokja is that his 'salaryman normal guy' appearance is just as much a false persona as 'monstorous Demon King of Salvation' or 'calm and cool leader of kimcom'.

Despite what he tells us at the beginning (and since when do we take his narration as trustworthy?), he wasn't ever just a normal, boring person, despite his best efforts. He tells us the 'genre of his life' was 'Realism', but if a life could be said to have a genre, his was definitely 'True Crime'.

It's so interesting that even pre-scenarios, he thought of the world in the terms of 'genres' and the people around him as 'characters' (like Yoo Sangah) because of course he would! Even if we discount the way he spends all his time reading and how that shapes how he sees the world, he himself has been a character in his mother's novel and 'a character' is how people see him too. He says he read that novel a thousand times to try and understand his memories until he didn't know what was true anymore. He knows the character Kim Dokja too.

And everyone knew about his past.

Everywhere he went, he was 'the son of a murderer', someone to be gawked at and whispered about.

No one has ever seen him as 'just an average guy' because Underground Killer haunted him every step of the way. Reporters. At school. Even years later at the company he and Yoo Sangah worked at, the rumours of his past had spread (Yoo Sangah was one of the few people who didn't know).

The lack of privacy and stigma that has followed him everywhere is part of why he resents his mother for writing that novel.

Pre-scenarios, he is less similar to you and me than to the families of 'famous serial killers' that get podcasts and documentaries and books written about them and who's private lives are torn apart by media. I'm not naming names, but you already know them.

crazy to me how everyone in jayce & viktor's lives are bad friends because if i found out my pal was keeping the refrigerated corpse of his dead-in-a-terrorist-attack boyfriend within a mysterious and unexplained suspension of holographic goop. i'd say SOMETHING

like, mel, vi, and cait all knew jayce was doing the nonconsensual necromancy thing and were cool with it. like didn't question viktor's agency in the matter, didn't recommend a therapist, just dealt with their own plot stuff. vi came in trying to get some gloves, saw a suspended glowing cadaver, went "ok" and moved on with her day

Thinking about Martin Blackwood tonight lads. Do you ever think about how he views himself as someone with very little actual agency and he's the one who ended the story. He's the one who killed Jon. He views himself at first as someone who cannot affect events at all because nobody gives a shit, because he's trying so hard but everyone's just IGNORING him even when he wants so badly to fix this. He at first has no agency because of circumstances. And then when he chooses not to go with Peter, suddenly everything falls apart. All his choices leading up to this, choosing to make a plan to get rid of Elias, choosing to assist Peter, avoiding Jon, avoiding everyone- they all led up to this. So he's just very nervously stepping back and trying to fit back into The Caretaker. He tries to deny himself agency. Hell, he describes himself as the anti christs plus one for gods sake. And when Jon actually asks him to make choices, or acknowledges that yes Martin is the one who wants to make this decision, not Jon. He freaks out. But him attempting to just not Do anything and just sit back doesn't actually help. He still hurts people even when he disappears from their lives, or just tries to make Them make the choices he wants to make. And this makes his conversation with Also Martin so so interesting. He can't avoid making choices just because he keeps making the wrong ones. It doesn't mean nobody gets hurt. Thinks about Martin's view of himself as someone with No Agency vs how much affect he has on the story as a whole. His introductory episode is when the plot gets moving even!

He views himself as someone who has no affect on other people. His choices reflect that a lot of the time. When faced with the fact that yes, even when he's trying to not do Anything, he still affects other people he doesn't exactly handle it well. He affects so much, for better or for worse. He both is the reason Jon didn't end the entire world and he hurts so many people while thinking his actions will do Nothing for anyone but him. Do you get it.

He goes up to the panopticon, still expecting to just delay until they can stop Jon. But Jon does exactly what he told him to do. He listens. When Martin chooses not to leave, Jon tells him to end it. It's just. It's SO. He views himself as never being the focus, as it never being about what he wants, as the anti christs plus one, and he is when we start learning about the plot and he is the one who kills the protagonist do you GET IT. I'm sorry I am currently chewing on walls.

i will never be over how disappointed aziraphale looks when he has a box full of plants immediately shoved in his face, and when crowley has no hesitation in offloading them all back into his car

the split second he takes in the first one to realise that crowley practically had his face pressed against the window, plants waiting at the front door, ready to get them - and himself - out of there. and all jokes of oogling his arse aside, the sudden, instant, reflexive, tight, forced smile when crowley looks at him whilst getting them inside the bentley.

i've ummed and erred over whether aziraphale knew about crowley living out of his car, but no - there is no way he didn't know. he absolutely knew. aziraphale loves trains - he could, and probably would, have taken one - but this is an excuse to get crowley into the shop and stay there. when we land on the shot of him behind the wheel, he looks so happy. not only has crowley accepted for him to drive it, a major show of trust and partnership, but almost like, following the "we both get plenty of use out of it, don't we?" line, he is so confident that he's finally secure in the knowledge that he's given crowley a home, and that home is where it's always been, where he's always belonged - with him.

my Stephanie Brown hot take is that she should get mad bitches now that she's single in comics. Yes yes shipping BUT the one time she had sex she was punished by the narrative via teen pregnancy. I think she should be allowed to have as much sex as she wants with zero consequences. Could be a lot of sex, could be a little. Point is she should get to do it without getting narratively baby trapped this time. she should get them pregnant, actually.

ok ok ok so hi everyone its metashades. i just played through demo four with chur (@greedy4tix) and HOLY SHIT MY JAW IS ON THE FLOOR. it answered some questions and raised a whole plethora of new ones. i just wanna ramble about some theories i have and the cannon slightly shifting for this blog.

the pre-prologue got released and well, i have a shit ton of questions.

if david baszuki / builderman was kidnapped in the present then brought to the past, then WHERE IS PAST BUILDERMAN??? SHOULDN'T HE BE FINE SINCE THE SHADY GUY ONLY ATTACKED PRESENT BUILDERMAN??? OR DID THE SHADY GUY KIDNAP PRESENT BUILDERMAN, GO BACK IN TIME, KIDNAP THE PAST BUILDERMAN AND JUST HAS BOTH OF THEM LOCKED UP IN A BASEMENT SOMEWHERE????

a kind person on the blocktales askblog dc pointed this out to me and i've been spiraling ever since.

theres alot of evidence suggesting that telamon is shedletsky. (which makes sense cause they're both the same person in real life too.)

first of all they share the same font colour

and secondly shedletsky insinuates that HE own's the haunted manor. you know the haunted manor TELAMON owns???

what makes this interesting is that people like the ghost chef view telamon and shedletsky as two different people

the only explanation to this that shedletsky is hiding the fact that he is telamon. which means he's LYING TO OUR FACE about being to injured to help us directly on our quest. if he was able to save kitchen wizard and jim as telamon, WHY ISN'T HE HELPING US ON OUR ARGUABLY MORE IMPORTANT QUEST?? IS HE AVOIDING INTERACTING WITH THE SWORDS??

WHY DID HE LEAVE THE FIREBRAND ABANDONED FOR SO LONG??

WHO MADE THESE SWORDS IN THE FIRST PLACE??? ALOT OF PEOPLE (INCLUING ME) ASUMED SHEDLETSKY FORGED THEM BUT IF NOT HIM THEN WHO?? AND IF IT WAS HIM WHY IS HE SO FUCKING INCOMPETENT AT HANDLING THEM??

it's been a theory / hc of mine that the vices are not just limited to the player's mind, but they are part of the minds everyone who used a sword. and well this is has been all but confirmed at this point.

GREED:

the only reason catain trotter went down into the temple of the red sun is for cash after all. even if this was to provide for his crew, his greed costed him everything.

and well the ancients straight up just calls captain trotter greedy.

SOLITUDE:

i have strong evidence that both mayor thyaniel and griefer suffer from this vice the most.

thyaniel is the one i have the most evidence for. he just admits he his position as a guardian makes him feel isolated from his peers.

griefer i have far less evidence for im just purely going off of vibes.

he just gives off the vibe of a hikiomori shut in. his room is a mess and it's located in the middle of buckshit nowhere far away from the town.

FEAR:

the cruel king is clearly paranoid about blackrock's destruction.

HATRED:

though hatred doesn't have one particular wielder representing it (if you exclude the player) all the other wielders showed signs of suffering from it's influence.

cruel king hated us because he believed we would bring doom upon his kingdom.

griefer was kinda just an ass to everyone, especially his dad.

and captain trotter hated us for betraying him for the firebrand and for getting his crew killed.

All at once, the 'explosive' tags crumble to dust. Crisis averted.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you they weren't actual explosive tags. They were stinkbombs!"

And that's when the putrid stench hits. Yup. Those were definitely stinkbombs. While he is distracted, Tobi sticks a 'kick me' sign to Deidara's back.

Tobi runs full-tilt at Deidara. There are what look like explosive tags all over his cloak and one on his mask.

"DEIDARA SENPAI, DEIDARA SENPAI! HELP ME! HELP ME!"

He tackles Deidara's legs, clinging onto them for dear life. This is not helpful in the slightest.

Deidara looked away for five minutes--five minutes!--and Tobi got himself plastered with explosive tags!

"Tobi, nooo!" But, it was too late.

Tobi ran into him, knocking them both to the ground. Deidara tried kicking Tobi off, but that wasn't an easy thing when his partner was covered head to toe in explosive tags!

"What did you do!?" Seriously, how does one end up in this situation?!

the fact that ians family went to the military jail and discussed his bipolar disorder solely because they didnt want him to go to prison and they knew he wouldnt heal in there (especially since fiona had just gotten out of her own incarceration, and mickey had plenty of experience in the system as well), but he took it as a personal failure to be mentally ill - that they were pitying him and treating him like a difficult child who will never grow up to be a functional adult - and thats why he had monica pick him up. the fact that ian thought his loved ones didnt respect him when in reality they were doing everything they could to bring him back home with them where he belonged, but he was so blinded by his self-hatred that he couldnt understand why they were doing what he thought was a humiliation ritual for the entire us military to see, officially and embarrassingly ending the only career he ever wanted to pursue. the fact that he ran to monica because he felt alone and scared, and all she accomplished was solidifying his belief that he would never amount to anything because of his illness
