Monday, December 30: Skullview, “Privilege of Suffering”
Given when they started, Skullview was kind of like an American HammerFall, as both bands were really the only ones working this specific approach and crafting their own version of power metal in the process. But unlike HammerFall, Skullview was more intermittent in releasing new material, and “Privilege of Suffering” closed out Metalkill the World, which was their first album in 9 years and the only thing they’ve released in the last 15 years. To be sure, they didn’t have the support of Nuclear Blast, but the tune was the sort of banger that should’ve garnered more attention: despite the low-budget recording, the playing was tight, the riffs were catchy, and "Earthquake" Quimby Lewis was a consummate metal frontman. Maybe it was just bad timing, since the trad metal revival had already burned itself out by 2010, but metal benefited when groups like Skullview were lurking around the edges.

Eddie: I want Billy’s dad and Nancy’s mom to die but make it look like an accident
Henry: Say less, darling

Jim: It looks like the killer snapped all the victims’ bones, crushed their eyes, and then placed a banana peel by their feet
