As a Fandom...
Can we just normalize the fact that all of Hell and Heaven's denizens have some kind of mental/physical/both trauma?
Heaven has got brainwashing cult on lockdown and Hell is just the scene from some serial killers basement in every horror movie ever.
Both are horrible in their own way. Both have left scars on angels and demons. Both angels and demons have reacted to that trauma in very different ways.
So when I say this - and I say this with all due sincerity - can we please, please, stop wanting Crowley and Aziraphale to suffer worse than that for whatever their sins at the end of Season 2? Because either way you slice this melon of abusive behaviors, it's rotten all the way through. I don't want that for Crowley and I don't want that for Aziraphale.
I want them to get away from their equally shitty employers, and I don't want them to Hurt Anymore. I want their bad days to be like - they argued about whose turn it is to do the dishes. Or, one of them is sad because they're having a bad memory day but the other one is there to comfort them. I want Crowley and Aziraphale to get the chance to heal.
And frankly, I want that for everyone else in Heaven and Hell too.
.
.
.
.
Except Hastur. And Sandalphon. OH and the Metatron. Fuck those guys.

More Half-and-Half-A-Miracle Thoughts
Part 3: The Third Archangel
Updated 10 Nov 2023
Part 1: Miracle Power Ranking is here Part 2: The Dark side of Aziraphale is here.
Before I try to put the full picture of the mighty miracle together, there is one other Archangel I want to talk about first, because yeah, if the "little" miracle had an Archangel x an Archangel x (ex-)Archangel in the equation, all working in synergy, that's some pretty serious potential power right there.
S2 has given us much to discuss about Crowley and his past. We know he is different in that he has an imagination. We know he is the only ethereal entity, angelic or demonic, who can stop time, which is no mean feat. I have a list of at least nine, possibly thirteen clues (it keeps growing! 21 clues And yes, I'm counting,) that he was once a
Tumblr media
senior Archangel, one of the seraphim, before his Fall (but not which one in particular, for sure, alas. We can debate that later, its not important here. Really. Don't @ me about it, I'm not going to engage in this post.) They (updated link to a new discussion: the idea of Crowley previously being a very powerful angel) have all been mentioned already, none of them are new. This implies there is a huge amount of potential power that Crowley could pull upon to put into the miracle performed on Gabriel. So he is our obvious ex-Archangel in the equation.
And we already have Gabriel, in the middle.
Which just leaves us with Aziraphale, and his green-paneled waistcoat...
I've led you all on thinking he's somehow connected to Hell? Or been associating too long with Crowley? No. (Or maybe, yes? To hanging around a demon, I mean.) On one hand it does show us he is not like the other angels. On the other, it tells us something else altogether.
For all that I've been recently rabbiting on about dark horses pointing mainly to Crowley and Saraqael, we have perhaps been deftly misdirected from the biggest dark horse of all: Aziraphale as our 'missing" seraphim, Archangel Raphael, incognito.
Tumblr media
Now, I'm certainly not the first person to suggest this at all. There have been multiple metas about it, even way back from S1. I agree with them, fwiw.
Why am I saying this now? I think this recent post about Aziraphale being present at Sodom and Gomorrah sealed it for me, especially since I had made a recent note about Raphael being the one to be assigned to escort Lot from Gomorrah. And for all that I've just discussed how dark Aziraphale can be, he is still clearly affected by what he witnessed that night, so long, long ago.
Tumblr media
"Oh Lord, heal this bike."
Green is also the color primarily associated with Raphael, the healer. I've seen a few other colors mentioned as well (in fact, the more you search, the more confusing it gets) but mostly the color you'll see mentioned is green. And its the color Aziraphale conceals on the back side of his waistcoat. Plus he did heal Anathema (and her velocipede) back in S1 after they collided with the Bentley.
Finally, in the Islamic tradition, Raphael is known as Israfil, and he is essential to announcing the Day of Judgement, with a trumpet constantly poised at his lips, ready to blown when God so orders.
Guess who just got taken back to Heaven to start the Second Coming?
Edit: Since I first posted this, some additional information has come along to add to this. I finally bumped into a post about the wonderful golden collars in the Job minisode (It's so, so important to put at least one or two relevant tags for meta-writers like me to help find your posts readers! Then you can shit-talk in the tags all you like.) and that lead me to a webpage on basic angel symbology and the major angels, which helped to firm up a few things I'd been wondering about. One observation is angels usually go about bare-footed, but Raphael wears sandals when on Earth, as he is chief of the guarding angels, and is the guardian of the young, and watches over pilgrims and travelers. And who was wearing golden sandals during the Job minisode?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doing some guarding of the young as well...
Tumblr media
And Raphael is assigned to the direction of the East.
Tumblr media
Now we have three Archangels, three seraphim, no less, side by side.
Tumblr media
That's a mighty shitload of potential miracle power, whichever way you want to look at it. No wonder the ol' Metatrash got a bit nervous about what happened and decided to take a personal hand in things.
If your sitting there going "'Hang on, op, hang on just a darned minute - Aziraphale hasn't even been promoted to Supreme Archangel yet and Crowley could just be a Dominion, you don't know, and Gabriel's a drooling idiot, how could he contribute to it - " Just stop. Take a breath. Go back to Part 1 where I discuss the problems with our knowledge about miracle powers and their potential. Their potential. And its frustrating that in the end we just don't have enough knowledge to be certain.
So take this as my personal head-canon. I may not have really answered why the miracle was so strong. But as I said at the start, I don't think we can. Too many factors involved, too many unknowns. Too much hidden.
Bring on S3, I say!

No, but Crowley/Muriel has such hurtfic potential. She's punished by Heaven for sneaking a demon in, while he's left as her caretaker, consumed by guilt, and not sure whether she'll survive.

Neil Gaiman-
I adore you, thank you so much.
The depth you took this wonderful show to in contrast to the first season- dear god, I am deeply obsessed. We went from soft and lovely but still kinda just subtext- to THIS. Season two. I’m afraid I am a bit fixated on the ending with Crowley and Aziraphale, it’s gonna take me a bit to acknowledge separately how amazing season two is as a whole (aloud, that is) but that ending. Good lord. Obviously, like everyone else, I was sitting there trying to will Aziraphale to *not* do what he was about to do, but I’m so happy it didn’t end like that. Even as I sat there willing it, I knew what only made sense, his hesitation didn’t fool anyone. It was amazingly painful, and so perfect for them. You, sir, delivered.

Guide to Crystal Grids
Crystal Grids are an incredibly powerful and beautiful way to manifest your intentions. They are also powerful healing tools. The power of a crystal grid comes from the combined energies of the crystals you use, how you lay them out, and the intentions you set. Basically, a crystal grid is a special arrangement of crystals and stones, used with intention, to manifest a desired result. Keep in mind that the universe likes to provide us with what we need, not just what we want. If you would like it to come to fruition, it is best to focus on manifesting a need vs a want.
Crystal Grids can be used in a variety of ways: in healing, manifesting, ritual work, meditation, intention setting practices or simply as a creative endeavor.
When it comes to crystal grids, there may be many different guides on how best to do them, but I find the most powerful healing and manifesting comes when you go with your intuition. Some people create crystal grids on a cloth, board, or piece of paper with Sacred Geometry on them, as they believe this increases the power of the grid. Others like to include pieces of nature, like leaves, shells, or flowers in their grid. Don't let a lack of crystals stop you!
Many people pick crystals based on the properties that are aligned with what they would like to manifest. Others will intuitively choose what crystals to work with. If you don't have a lot to choose from, don't worry. You can still work with what you've got, it is the setting of your own intentions that is most powerful.
The possibilities are endless, and it is really important to trust in your own intuition when creating your crystal grid.
Activating your Crystal Grid
To activate a grid once it has been laid, use a crystal wand or the power of your mind to join up all the points, including the keystone. If the grid does not have connecting lines to each crystal, take the wand (or your mind) into the central point and out again, touching each crystal in turn and weaving the energy into being. Finally, place the wand on the keystone and restate your intention.
Keeping your Crystal Grid active
Some grids, like protective or transmuting, need daily checking, while outdoor grids or those set to attract abundance can happily be left alone for a week. To keep your grid active, restate your intention, cleanse the crystals if necessary, and remove or add further crystals if appropriate. But don't interfere with your grid too frequently, or you won't really give it a chance to work.
Maintain your Crystal Grid
Don't forget to cleanse your crystals frequently to remove stagnant or unwanted energies. The easiest and safest methods include:
Smudging with incense, sage, or Palo Santo
The use of Singing Bowls
You can use running water, moon, or sun - but you need to be careful with these methods as they are not suitable for all crystals.

Thinking about immortality and gender for immortal or very long lived beings, and how being that long lived it would make a lot of sense that as you get up there in the years that your connection to gender probably disconnects and/or changes/becomes very fluid— especially for beings who become immortal but their kind maybe aren’t meant to live that long? Idk, just thinking about how immortality and living for a very long time would slowly alter your perception of everything, including personal gender identity and expression.
I always kinda wonder at like characters that are thouuuusands of years old but are very firm in their gender and it hasn’t changed since day one, and like no shade to anyone who’s oc is that way! I just wonder what the character’s inner psychology would be about their gender and how it’s stayed the same since day one when they’ve lived for so so long, and experienced so much that would likely fundamentally change someone many times over.
Like I think about vampires a lot for this topic because in most cases vampires originate from humans. Humans aren’t meant to live forever. Being a vampire and living well past a humans lifespan (what you originated as) I feel there would be a lot of gender identity struggles and exploration, and eventual possible numbness/indifference to the whole concept in and of itself once a vampire gets into the thousands? Would there be like an unspoken knowledge in vampire society about that? Support groups lol? Does a vampire’s sire sort of help guide them through something as personal as that over time (if the sire is available)? Is it like a Rite of Passage to eventually have a breakdown of and over your gender and how you think of/express it for vampires?
These sorts of things I think about a lot and not just for vampires!! Elves are (usually) a naturally immortal or at least long lived race, and they aren’t humans or from humans (in most cases.) So like elven gender and expression of gender can be a really interesting topic too, and applying human perceptions and binaries to it I often think can’t work with their lifespans. But that’s just me!
Or beings like faeries and dragons. A lot of fantasy and/or non-human races, even if not immortal or long-lived, I think would have sometimes very different structures of gender identity in their society/kind. I don’t think human perception and structure could apply to all of them, because they aren’t human. They’re sentient (at least the kinds I’m talking about) but not human. So applying human ways of doing and thinking things that are like that I feel doesn’t really take full advantage of how cool and interesting worldbuilding different societies and povs of specific concepts like gender can be.
The whole topic of immortality and how it could/can affect gender identity/expression is like interesting to me to think about and theorize.

I can’t believe I went through all of Season 2 assuming Nina was the stand-in for Crowley when you actually pay attention it’s so CLEAR that she’s Aziraphale. I was tricked by her spiky, sarcastic, cynical outer shell and lulled into a false sense of security by Maggie’s bubbly optimism and wholesome goodness, because on the surface they reflect the ineffable husbands perfectly, in their personalities, their aesthetics, even many of their actions and morals. but not, and this is the real key, when it comes to their “relationship”. but those first impressions really had me damn fooled.
I missed the blatantness of Nina’s “we’re just friends. actually we’re not friends. we barely know each other.” the same thing Aziraphale said in season 1.  the way he still struggles to quantify their friendship when Nina asks. Nina’s sarcasm when Crowley asks about rain and awnings because it worked for him (we all know it LMAO). hell, that whole convo the girls have in the rain is so AziraCrow (“I know. I’m not your type” “...You have no idea” hits so much harder the second time, help meeeee.) “Lindsay” maybe being symbolic of Heaven and Aziraphale’s toxic relationship with them and their abuse? (the handwritten text messages in red pen make me think of angry notes on paperwork, anyone else?) because Crowley has never actually cared about what Hell thinks of him, just not getting into trouble (or him or Aziraphale getting hurt). Maggie is always chasing Nina. NINA NEVER GOES IN THE RECORD STORE. Just like Crowley always goes to the bookstore, to Aziraphale, Zira NEVER WENT TO THE FLAT (apart from The Swap but that doesn’t count imo). Crowley has always chased Zira, not the other way around. Always there to rescue him, always going to him for company, always relying on their shared connection, always US. OUR SIDE. All through season one, he comes to Zira every time to work together, never trying to work alongside Hell in any way that isn’t to save their skins or Earth, while Zira hides things from Crowley because he STILL thinks Heaven is ultimately good and will do the right thing if he can just show them. fix it from the inside.
Maggie working up the courage to finally say something, to put herself out there, while Nina is utterly oblivious and then when she does realise Maggie has feelings, becoming standoffish, putting up that barrier, fighting it, denying it, ITS SO CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE IN THAT ORDER. the way I was fooled into thinking Nina’s trust issues are Crowley because he does have trust issues ofc he does BUT Crowley has ALWAYS TRUSTED AZIRAPHALE. has always relied on him. has always been hurt when Aziraphale doesn’t immediately reciprocate the way he expects (the holy water request, the bandstand, the “off in the stars” etc). he’s always the one putting himself forward. Aziraphale has always been the one to second guess everything, to fight their connection, their similarities, their friendship. the girls really made me think it was going to be okay when they sat Crowley down, even as my inner sirens were going haywire about Metatron interfering, they were telling Crowley he just needs to open up and it’ll all work out BUT HE’S ALREADY AT THAT POINT. he may not say it, and by gosh is that part of their damn problem, but he’s always SHOWN IT. he’s not Nina who needs time to heal and recover from her broken trust, he’s always been Maggie believing it doesn’t matter, they’ll end up together in the end anyway AND I WALKED RIGHT INTO THE TRAP THAT THIS MEANT THEY WERE GOING TO BE OKAYYYYYYYYYYY

Crowley Complex
I'm the Crowley, or black sheep of my family. I felt that final scene so strongly... and there's still a teeny tiny part of me that still feels like Aziraphale...wanting to believe that maybe...if I'm good enough, work hard enough...I can change things... and heal my family's toxicity and stop them from hurting people and one day help them choose love instead of hate. I keep watching the final episode over and over because it's like watching my own inner battle play out in front of me with such ferocious clarity that it takes my breath away. it was like free therapy for me. I had been debating on going back to my toxic family for a visit (or rather, was being guilted into the idea)...and the final episode saved me from making that mistake again. And I will forever be grateful to Neil and the cast's perfect performance for that. I'd rather be a demon than a pawn of the Metatron.

Do not ever tell me that Aziraphale is being selfish here.
Never. Not once. If you try to even start, shut your fucking mouth.
Do you know how hard it is to admit something like this when you're not even supposed to want anything?
Gabriel was surprised the first time he was given a gift.
Aziraphale is telling Crowley he wants to make things better, but he doesn't think he can do it without Crowley.
He is pouring his heart out right here. He doesn't think he can do enough good without Crowley. He wants to make Heaven better, but he thinks he needs Crowley to make it happen.
This is the one time that Crowley cannot help him, but that doesn't mean that what Aziraphale is doing is wrong.
Me saying that Aziraphale isn't doing anything wrong by going back to Heaven doesn't mean I'm saying Crowley is wrong for the choice he made either. Neither of them is wrong. This is not a black and white situation.
Aziraphale told Crowley he needed him while the Metatron was within hearing distance.
Let me say this as loudly as possible for you, m'kay?
AN ANGEL JUST TOLD A DEMON HE NEEDS HIM.
We all remember how that's a no-no, right?? That's exactly the kind of language Aziraphale always avoided because even ducks have ears. And the one time he used that kind of language was when the Metatron was waiting to take him back to Heaven because the Metatron knows about their history.
The last time Heaven implied that Aziraphale and Crowley were together, Sandalphon punched him in the stomach.
But go off with how Aziraphale is so selfish and only ever thinks about his own wants and needs after he bared his heart to Crowley in front of the fucking Metatron. Go off with how you keep proving you didn't understand the first thing about Aziraphale and Crowley's shades of grey discussion from 1941.
Be mad at Aziraphale if it helps you heal, but don't assassinate his character by turning him into someone he's not just because you're desperate for your villainized version of him to be real.
Crowley wouldn't stand for that shit because he's perfectly capable of taking care of himself.

my take on the ending, especially aziraphale’s behaviour.
all this fandom talk “this couldn’t be our aziraphale”, “metatron put something in the coffee”, “everything in the end seems odd” really weirded me out. for me it’s equal to “i dont want all that complicated writing, for me the simple one is easier to process” like. i get it, really. but from writer’s point of view it sounds kinda… debasing. neil just gave us an amazing social problem analogy with organised religion slash abusive family and how it brainwashes & manipulates people who are so desperate to make any difference that they reach out to religion, their last instance. people abandon their loved ones for it, because they’re “unholy” and “sinful” and don’t want to join them.
there is that aziraphale/heaven parallel with nina and her ex. nina just realised that her ex was abusive and now she needs time to heal, but maggie would not abandon her, she would be right there.
it’s exactly what is happening and what will happen with azi in season 3.
aziraphale never truly left heaven, not in his mind, at least, and now, when he was the most vulnerable, heaven waved in front of his face with “you can come back, change everything and be with the person you love the most, so you can be all happy together” and azi just couldn’t say no to THAT. to his memory of angel!crowley, being so joyful and cheerful and happy with just bring able to create, to make beauty. what he didn’t realise is, that he was being manipulated. as a victim of brainwashing by my own parent for DECADES, I can tell you that azi couldn’t just “open his eyes” randomly and realise without something really PROFOUND happening to him. (that is remains for neil to tell us, what it will be).
for me it was separation, my parent’s fast decreasing mental health, and a LOT of outer influence (talks with my other parent, friends, discussions about the abuse of my other parent). the last straw was one of my visits.
we are yet to see it in s3.
aziraphale being an analogy for a victim of brainwashing by organised religion (“parents”) is a genius writing, something that you don’t see often in tv shows. but explaining his behaviour by “metatron just drugged him that’s why our angel is acting weird” is SO DEBASING and for aziraphale’s whole character, and for neil gaiman, and for me, as a victim
