As I listened to the bow gently caress the old soul of the cello’s strings, I thought about how people often forget to let themselves feel things. Things like beautiful music, for instance. The way it flows up your neck, conjuring moments of sweet nostalgia. And the way it helps you release feelings you nearly forgot you had. Its sound, a spell, casting shadows deep into the earth to be cleansed anew. It is a gift of mine, to always be comfortable with what I am feeling, and I realize now, that it is the solution I’ve been looking for all this time. It really is true, when they say that the answer to a problem is always within yourself. For magic is not meant to be seen, it is meant to be felt.

Naive is what is or seems to be natural, individual, or classical to the point of irony, or else to the point of continuously fluctuating between self-creation and self-destruction. If it's simply instinctive, then it's childlike, childish, or silly; if it's merely intentional, then it gives rise to affectation. The beautiful, poetical, ideal naive must combine intention and instinct.
Friedrich Schlegel, Athenaeum Fragments
