射楯兵主神社(イタテツワモノヌシジンジャ)こと、釜蓋神社(カマフタジンジャ)⛩️
以前から行ってみたかったので、大満足です💖
勝負・武運の神様を祀っていて、特に勝負ごとにご利益がある神社として知られていて、私もパワーを頂いてきました💪✨2011年には、なでしこJAPANをW杯優勝へ導いたと南九州では有名なパワースポットです。

この神社では、釜を頭にのせて鳥居から拝殿まで落とさずに歩くと願いが叶うと言われています。
途中で落ちてしまったら最初からやり直しOKで、成功すれば厄除け、開運すると言われています✨
私が神社に到着した時、ちょうど出張で来たという2人の男性も居て、
1人の50代くらいの男性が、初めて来たという同伴していた20代くらいの男性と私に
「2人ともせっかくだから釜を頭に乗せてトライしてみましょう!」
釜は意外に重かったです。
もう1人の男性は3回目で成功、私は…奇跡のノーミスで成功しました🥰
証拠の動画・写真はありませんが、一緒にいた2人が証人になります!と言ってくれました。
3人で参拝し、
「お互いに、きっと良いことがありますよ」と、2人とお別れ。

「釜蓋投げ」
境内から3メートルほど下に置かれた的の釜に素焼きの小さな釜蓋(2個100円)を投げ、釜に入れることができれば、運が開けるとされています。
私もチャレンジしましたが、1回目はかすりもせず、2回目は釜の淵で砕けた破片が入って終了。この場合はどう判断して良いのか誰か教えて下さい…苦笑

希望の岬の先は、海と山の絶景スポットであると同時に、これでもかという釜のオンパレード。
開聞岳も山頂が雲で隠れていましたが、綺麗なシルエットを見せてくれました。

M: Skaters from many different countries appear in the show, but he's a Japanese skater, just as Yuuri - and it's quite rare in this show. The fact that Minami-kun is so obsessed with Yuuri is portrayed in a comical, but at the same time, endearing and cute way, and I like that very much. I think that his strong, and at the same time, weak point are his feelings toward Yuuri (laugh). I think that it's just amazing that he continues to show how much he loves and admires Yuuri so straightforwardly. But if he doesn't think more of TPO, it can also be quite embarrassing for him, I think... (laugh). But I think that it's also a part of his charm, surely!
-- Please tell us what was important to you, or what did you pay special attention to when you were playing your role.
M: From the time of auditions, the lines were in Hakata dialect, so I thought that: "this role seems a lot of fun, but Hakata dialect is probably going to be hard..." (laugh). I asked people around me who are from Kyushu to explain the nuance to me. So it was a hard work, also trying to express everything in the lines in the right tempo in that limited time I had. Other than that, I was playing the role focusing all my attention on Yuuri-kun alone (laugh).

“Good morning, Yuuri!”
Recognising the familiar voice, Yuuri looked up. “Nishigori!”
His friend was leaning against the doorframe. Despite the air conditioning, he wore shorts and a T-shirt that emphasised his sturdy hockey player arms. “Where’s your boyfriend? I thought I saw his bike outside.”
“Showering.” Yuuri braced himself against the wall and stretched his calves. There was no way he could keep the growl fully from his voice, even as it came subdued. “And he’s not my boyfriend.”
“I forgot,” Nishigori said. “You’re just friends.”
“No!” Yuuri said, cheeks heating. “It’s not like that. It’s just… we’re not dating or something!”
One month had passed since Yuuri had told Viktor about the pertinacious girl in Detroit. Never before had he told someone about the incident. There were still many things he kept to himself, but around Viktor, he felt comfortable opening up. Not even with Minako, Yuuko, or Phichit Yuuri had felt so at ease. He had to find out what it meant.
“Huh? So, you haven’t yet confessed, Yuuri?” He nudged Yuuri with his elbow. “Right?”
“No,” Yuuri said, wincing at the defensive pitch in his voice. He was still wrestling with the fact that this man was willing to put up with all his weirdness and insecurities.
“And this from the man who urged me to confess!”
“That was different!” Yuuri protested.
Nishigori laughed. “But you two seem inseparable. What are you waiting for, Yuuri? Go and get him!”
“We hang out.” His entire face was glowing now. Could he explain it away by doing exercise so shortly after running all the way here? “I don’t know what will become of this, but it’s nice spending time together.”
“Yuuri, the inexperienced bachelor.” Nishigori was still laughing, but there was an undercurrent fondness in his voice that thwarted every attempt to be angry. “Need some help with stretching?”
His face still hot, Yuuri looked up. “Only if you can spare a minute.”
Nishigori walked into the room. “For the man who carries Japan’s hopes on his shoulders, I always have a minute to spare.”

Typhoon Nanmadol
A large typhoon hit Kyushu a few days ago. I decided to ride out the storm with some friends in Minami Shimabara. We played games together until late as the strong winds and rain battered against the shuttered windows for about 24 hours. We filled the bathtub (to refill the toilet in case of a power outage), and kept a supply of drinking water and flashlights ready. We lost power once but only for about 10 minutes. In case of extreme flooding or landslides, we would be evacuated to a nearby emergency shelter (usually an elementary or junior high school). 
I’m happy to report that we made it safely through the storm with no damage to any of our homes. The howling winds were scary, but even despite being a predictably strong storm, there was not much damage to any nearby buildings. Thanks to everyone that checked up on me! I hope everyone is safe where they are :)

I am rewatching Yuri on Ice with my roommate (she saw me cry over episode 6 back in 2016 and swore never to watch it cause she doesn’t like shows that prompt such emotional reactions.....she has changed her mind since then)
Rewatching the show though, I really love how the show demonstrates repeatedly how Yuri’s anxiety does not align with reality but it still greatly affects him and is valid. 
Like episode one, Yuri talks in detail how he is just another “dime a dozen” male skaters and how he is replaceable. This is shown with the image on him coming in last place which at first glance seems to support this....

...but then you think about it for 2 seconds and you’re like “wait a minute.” You came in last place in the international contest you had to defeat hundreds of other skaters for, just to get a shot. You are 6th in the world, THAT IS NOT DIME A DOZEN. 
This is used again later when Yuri is at the Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu Championship, and he mentions that he lost to Minami previously. As the audience we see that Minami clearly sees Yuri as piratically a god and the other skaters all ask for his signature at the end of the event, but Yuri doesn’t recognize this at all

However, the show never takes the route of telling Yuri his anxieties are not based in reality and for him to get over it and see how great he is. Everyone in Yuri’s support group recognizes his anxiety and allow him to cope with it in his own time. His sister states she will support him in whatever he decides for his future. His parents are very emotionally supportive. His friends at the rink allow him to skate whenever he needs to to clear his head. Viktor discusses with him about what he needs in their relationship and the expectations of it. 
Over time Yuri does become more confident, even though he still has moments of depressive and anxious thoughts, and I overall just kinda love it.

What I am saying is that I love this show and I wish we got a whole season of Yuri training with the Russian team cause it would have been amazing

Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, here we go. Sooo, the Buster Bros! Well, if you think about it, sounds more like the “Bathtub Bros”, right? Mad Trigger Crew, well, sounds more like a bird going Mad Trigger “chun chun chun”, don’t you think so? Fling Posse, right away that makes me think of “Pudding Posse”, why choose something like that! And thinking of Matenrou Shinjuku, mm... more like Maten-lose is already Dead-juku!

I wasn’t too sure about this line, but I think Sasara’s implying DH’ll beat everyone else and go so far as to be taller than Everest (‘Everest’ is also a spice shop in Osaka).
“Smoothly applying” is written here as “sarasara narude”, so he rhymes it with his name in the next line.
“Honmaya” is Kansai slang for “so I see”. Sasara is basically saying that you’re pointing out the obvious.
Sasara rhymes “chuumoku” (attention) with “Chuuoku”. Aside from the Chuuoku in Tokyo, there is also a Chuuo ward (Chuo-ku) in Osaka.
A common call-and-response greeting in Osaka.
“Minami” is downtown Osaka. “Shall we knock each other out” is a reference to their division name.
Ikayaki (squid) and takoyaki (octopus) are both popular meal stands in Osaka.
The entertainment area Amerikamura in Osaka is commonly referred to by locals as “Ame-mura” - fact in fiction as well as a pun on Ramuda’s name.
In rap, the term ‘southpaw’ can sometimes mean someone who uses strange or unorthodox methods of rhyming in order to sound unique.
Sasara specifically says “uchi mata” here, which is a type of Judo throw.
Shirasu is the name for a specific kind of soil only found in Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost island. This line also includes two different kinds of pun - “shirasu”/“shirazu” (unaffected), a rhyming pun, and “oya oya” (my my)/”shin” (intimacy), an interpretational pun. The kanji for “shin” can also be read as “oya”.
The word Sasara uses here is ‘gaki’, which can be read as “kids” or “brats” - but can also be read as “preta” (hungry ghost) which is often seen in Buddhist texts. Potentially a reference to Kuuko?
Monjayaki is a type of Kanto batter snack that derives from okonomiyaki, a savoury sort of pancake popular in Kansai.
This line literally says to “Nani shitennen?!” (What are you doing?!) which is another common Osakan phrase.
This line is a reference to an old Japanese gag phrase “I’ll stick my finger in your ear until your back teeth rattle”. It has apparently since become a popular threat in yakuza movies, with the phrase changed to “I’ll stick my hand up your ass”.

What’s In a Book? Part 29
While going through my collection I managed to find a few books that have yet to be featured on here yet. I decided to go with this one as, upon further review, I noticed that it actually contained a wealth of information that I had previously ignored ^^;

Date of Publication: 1988 Language: Japanese and English (Some Essays and Names Only) Format: Hardcover Availability: Can be found up for auction on a fairly regular basis Price: Anywhere from $30 - $80 Errors: 0 This book is interesting, and that’s putting it mildly. Basically, it provides us with some of the best raw data for its time: The names of the most prominent geisha in each district of each city across all of Japan. It is a literal who’s who guide to the karyukai across the country in the late 1980s and is illuminating both in small essays that can be found at the front and back of the book explaining various schools and styles, but especially because it provides us with images, most in full color, of these amazing women.  The book overall is divided into regions which are then broken down further from there. This price was also likely due to it being targeted at serious karyukai connoisseurs as that price in the 1980s would have been much higher now due to inflation. Nowadays you don’t have to pay as much for this book as most Japanese sellers see it as outdated and it can be found quite regularly on Japanese retail sites, such as Yahoo Japan Auctions or Rakuten.   The only “errors: that I could find were some spelling issues, but that’s because they’re using the Japanese way of writing Romaji and not the Hepburn System. So, I’m not counting them as errors, but rather just making note of them to anyone who purchases this book. Rating: ✪✪✪✪ (out of 5)

Wife of Takeshi, who also works at "Ice Castle Hasetsu". Yuuri looks up to her. She's a fan of Victor and cares a lot not only about Yuuri, but about Yurio as well.
Nishigori Axel, Lutz and Loop
Nishigoris' triplets, called "Skating Otaku Sisters". Using their parent's smartphones they post on social media and organize "Onsen on ICE" - they are no limits for them.
Okugawa Minako
Ex-ballet dancer, currently running a ballet classroom in Hasetsu. To Yuuri, she's a loving, but still strict teacher. She follows Yuuri all around the world to be his support, but also because that's her own hobby [figure skating]
Makkachin
Victor's standard poodle. A dog with a friendly and calm personality, that came together with Victor to Hasetsu. Also a glutton.
Minami Kenjirou
He showed an outstanding performance last year at Japanese Nationals that he participated in as a junior competitor, and at the young age of 16, he won bronze medal which made him the center of attention. In this season, which is his debut season in senior division, for the first time he has successfully landed a quadruple jump during The Chugoku-Shikoku-Kyushu Championships. He's body is small, but his skating is very lively and he has that something in him that makes people cheerful when they watch him dancing, full of energy. He's success rate of landing quads and triple axels isn't very high, but he's the young skater that is the most likely candidate to become a future Japan's Ace.
He looks up to Yuuri, who's also from Kyushu and for his short program this season he chose "Lohengrin". His parents are medical doctors, and his older brother also attends a medical university.

Mister Shimooka: ...Ahaha! Really, now! I know you're an adult, but you're so cute, Mitsuki-kun! What do ya think, Yaotome-kun? Yaotome Gaku: He's super cute. But he's kind of dad inside, y'know? Izumi Mitsuki: Hey, what do you mean by that! I've bet you've got some dad in ya too! Kujou Ten: I definitely see it. Yaotome Gaku: Haha, shut up! Mister Shimooka: Hahaha! Both of you are grown men, so I guess that's to be expected! I'm already an old man, so that explains why we get along! Nanase Riku: The atmosphere of the studio changed after Mitsuki interrupted the conversation. Nanase Riku: Mister Shimooka-san boomed with laughter, more so than usual. Perhaps in relief, perhaps in apology. Nanase Riku: The whole time, Yaotome-san's fist was clenched tightly where it rested upon his leg. Mister Shimooka: Get ready, TRIGGER! Kujou Ten: Yes, sir. Nanase Riku: Everyone's eyes followed their backs as the three of them made their way to the stage. Nanase Riku: Even under the cold gaze of the audience, Ten-nii, Yaotome-san, and Tsunashi-san turned to face them. Nanase Riku: The stage lights were so bright, I couldn't see what their expressions were. Nanase Riku: But the voices that rang through the venue belonged to TRIGGER-- as proud and powerful as we remembered. Nanase Riku: They were trying to pierce through and reach the future.
Mister Shimooka: And that was TRIGGER's "Last Dimension!" Now, up next we have.... Momo: Shimooka-chan.... Yuki: ...Shimooka-san has a family and many trainees under his care. TRIGGER understands that too.... Momo: Back when it was Yamato, they were up against Hoshikage.... That, and it was hard for anyone to bash them since they'd be going against a world-famous actor. Momo: But this time, it's Tsukumo Productions versus Yaotome Productions, which is below Tsukumo in power. Momo: On top of that, there was that whole ordeal where Yaotome Productions "stole" a famous singer from Tsukumo, despite owing a lot to them. Momo: Putting aside what's true or not, it's easy to fall victim to Ryou's psychological ploys. You can't help but think, "There's nothing else I can do." Yuki: I know there's people out there who are strongly against his ways. There has to be. Momo: They're definitely there. I'm in contact with all of them, and-- Re:vale's TV Show Producer: Great work today, guys.... Momo: Thank you! ...What's wrong? Re:vale's TV Show Producer: I might be jumping the gun a bit, but…. I just wanted to make my rounds and say goodbye to everyone. They’re transferring me to Kyushu, so I won’t be on the show's production staff anymore. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: I really loved working on this show, and I wish I could've stayed on for just a bit longer.... Once things calm down, you should call me over for baseball again sometime, Momo-chan. Momo: ....... Yuki: I'll talk to them about it. It's not right without you on the team. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: Those words are more than enough for me. Please do your best and give everyone a great time from here on out as well. Momo: Why is this happening.... I told you to trash talk me to those people, didn’t I…? Re:vale's TV Show Producer: Ahaha, there's no way I could do that. I could never talk badly about you, Momo-chan. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: TRIGGER hasn't done anything wrong either. No other talents in this industry take their jobs as seriously as those three. They passionately, earnestly, and truly love their fans and their work. Re:vale's TV Show Producer: They did their best to make things as easy as possible for the staff the one time they guested on our show. It was a really, really great episode. Remember that? Momo: ....... *sniff* .... Re:vale's TV Show Producer: I want to make good shows. And I won't lie, even if it’ll further my cause. I…. I couldn't lie. I knew what would happen, so don't cry. Momo: ...I'll bring you back to Tokyo. I swear. Until then, I'll keep on standing here-- even if I have to eat dirt. I promise.... Tsukumo Ryou: Soon, it shall be complete. Midou Torao: What are you talking about? Tsukumo Ryou: Oh, fear not-- I’m referring to TRIGGER, not ŹOOĻ. Tsukumo Ryou: TRIGGER pulled out of SoundShip at the last minute. The first time is fine-- unexpected circumstances happen all the time. However, once happens a second time, they'll be seen as incompetent and impertinent. Tsukumo Ryou: There’s a shining chance for TRIGGER to repair their image-- neither Re:vale nor IDOLiSH7 will be appearing at the Tokyo International Festival of Music and Arts, a high-brow and formal affair. (1) Tsukumo Ryou: TRIGGER lose their place at that event-- I’ll make sure of it. Natsume Minami: And how will you accomplish this? I'm certain they are also aware that this is a chance for them to recover from their current predicament. Tsukumo Ryou: You see, before I became the president of an entertainment agency, I used to dabble in trading alongside some rather dangerous fellows. I can use those connections.... Tsukumo Ryou: ...To abduct TRIGGER. Inumaru Touma: ...Hey. I ain't getting involved in anything criminal. Tsukumo Ryou: Ahaha! Oh, we won't be involved at all. TRIGGER are very famous stars-- it'll be the work of a couple stalkers, so to speak. Isumi Haruka: Hmph. Isumi Haruka: ...I don't care. If that's what it'll take to see that brat and his father in tears, then go ahead. Isumi Haruka: I want him to reject everything he's ever worked for and despair.

(1) Ryou uses 硬派 to describe the tokyo m&a festival; I've mostly seen this word used in terms of like political parties, where you have hard-liners (frm the definition of the word), or very ppl very staunch in their belief of ___. In terms of music shows, I'd extrapolate this to mean an event that's very formal and rooted in tradition/rules, which would be kind of like the Grammy's wrt an american equivalent, since awards aren't thrown around willy nilly and it's a Big Deal to get invited there, etcetc. Like there's a whole formal process involved. That kind of 'hardcore'!

Back in time
One last good evening from Fukuoka before I leave Kyushu!
Wow, time is really flying, I’m already halfway through my trip… but, that’s still two full more weeks to go, so plenty of things to look forward to!
First things first, typhoon aftermath. I’m very fortunate to be able to report that the typhoon was more or less a non-event on Kyushu. The only thing we really noticed here was a strong wind picking up, and apparently waves were high, because a typhoon that big messes up the atmosphere over quite the area. Still, looking at the news from Tokyo and surroundings, Kyushu got out of it really, really well. Luckily everyone I know in the region is alright, so that’s a relief, but it’s still been quite the event.
In better news, I still got to do a day trip today! I went further back in history than I’ve been before; off we go to the Yayoi period, which lasted from 1000 BC until 300 AD. Below my report on visiting Yoshinogari Historical Park!
 Well, first things first: I needed the train to get there. As it turns out, there is one train a day that goes from Hakata station straight to Yoshinogarikoen, and that’s the Midori 5 – which is connected to the Huis ten Bosch train, haha. I had taken that one before back in 2015, but now, I got off several stations earlier.
Yoshinogarikoen station is already called after the park, although it’s still a 15 minute walk from there. Not to worry, though. It’s an all but entirely straight road from the station, and in the unlikely case you get confused, there are boards around every hundred meters telling you where to go. It felt like walking through the countryside before I got there, with farmers going about their business around me.  
I secured a ticket and received a map last-minute, which was just as well, because wow, this park is huge. Granted, parts of it serve as festival grounds and recreational areas, but it’s big enough that there’s a bus driving around to cut some time. I, uh, accidentally still skipped some bits…
Anyway! The Yoshinogari hills were initially destined to become industrial area for the Saga prefecture, until they discovered all kinds of ruins and relics here and put those plans on hold. Starting from the 1980s, studies and excavations here found that it was actually one of the largest moat encircled villages from the Yayoi period. It was during this time that the cultivation of rice and permanent settlement began, so quite the important moment in history. There’s even some controversy whether or not this could have been the capital of ancient Yamatai, a center of power in that time and which was supposedly ruled by shaman Queen Himiko, the first ruler of (part of) Japan acknowledged in Chinese chronicles.
At any rate, much of the historical park is dedicated to reconstructing the settlements to the way they must have once been. I started at the Minami Naikaku, the South Inner Enclosure, which has several watchtowers and the king’s residence. You could enter most of the residences here, although you definitely have to duck, haha, and some featured mannequins while others featured artifacts. It was pretty cool exploring here, hopping in and out and getting a feel for life in that period.
Across the moat, I found the storehouses and market as well as the North Inner Enclosure, Kita Naikaku. The same principles applied, although the North Inner Enclosure is extra special, as it is the most sacred place featuring a huge ceremonial hall. Upon entering, mannequins were seated in a meeting with the king on the first floor. Further up on the second floor, the high priestess was attempting to be possessed with their ancestors or gods in order to convey their message. The attention to detail was pretty amazing, and this area too was great to walk around in. In the distance, I could hear the festival music, and I even caught a Lilo & Stitch song, haha. I thought I was imagining things, but nope, I quick peek from a watchtower taught me they were performing the dance and everything. So that’s ancient and modern history right next to each other.
As I continued, I came to the last part of life in the Yayoi period: burial grounds. On Okinawa, I’d learnt of the bone washing ceremony instead of cremation. Here, however, the bodies were immediately buried in jars, which were of course fairly huge to contain an adult person. There was a field full of jars, but there was also a burial mound nearby. Upon entering, it turned out that these jars were the real thing. They’d reconstructed the excavation site as it had been when first discovered, including the jars and the sword fragments found within. So that was quite the impressive sight.
At this point, I decided to take that bus to the start of the park, although I wasn’t done yet. I got off at the West gate, although I only found recreational areas here and some lovely flowers and a pond. Continuing on to the East gate, through which I’d entered the park, I stumbled across the South village, which had the buildings for the ‘common’ people recreated (the areas I’d visited before were for the elite). I rushed past here, intending to check it out later, as I was getting pretty hungry and was curious to the menu.
I ended up with a dish with Saga prefecture beef croquette – things, haha, and rice native to the region. It was delicious and powered me right up, so I went outside again – and promptly got sidetracked, as there was a giant tent with workshops. I entered it to check it out, and as it turns out, during weekends there are some extra workshops, including one for mirror making. It wasn’t cheap, but the resulting mirror looks lovely, and mirrors are closely associated with the sun goddess Amaterasu (and also aforementioned Himiko), so I was kind of sold already, haha. A volunteer of the park kindly guided me through the process of application, and then I could get to work immediately! I got to do everything from casting molten silver in the mold, to sanding, and sanding, and sanding, and eventually polishing the mirror. Sadly there was a little hole in my mirror from casting, so they offered me a replacement, but I was like no, this is my mistake, my mirror, I’m gonna own up to it, haha. Also, who is gonna believe I made my own mirror if it looks perfect?
It was hard work and it took quite a bit longer than the scheduled hour I think, but the people here were really nice and helpful, and I even got to chat for a bit with the volunteer guide about Japan in all its aspects.
That being said, I was very proud of my mirror, and it was also already past 4 PM with the park closing at 5, oops. I was getting kind of tired too (not to mention my hands from all that polishing), so I made my way back to the station. Oops, I accidentally skipped the commoner settlement and also the entire forest of ancient plants at the other side of the park... Surely I have to go back!
I caught a train to Shin-Tosu, where I got a shinkansen so quickly that I think I ended up back on Hakata station within 20 minutes or so, whoa. I made one more round through Canal City before having dinner here, and then I got back to my hotel room.
I’ve spent the better part of the evening repacking my suitcase, oops. I got it shut, though! Just need to get out my toiletries tomorrow morning for a bit, but it was fairly easy to close my suitcase, so I expect no trouble.
 And so with that, the chapter on Kyushu closes. Fukuoka, thank you for hosting me again and for keeping me safe. I really enjoyed my time here, from the spectacle of Sakurajima to the charms of Karatsu and the hot springs of Beppu, from re-exploring bits of Fukuoka to traveling back in time today. Time has really flown here. It was my second time on Kyushu, and the second time I’m pleasantly surprised. Honestly, my only complaint is how big the spiders are, haha. (Well, bugs in general. As it turns out I had never seen a praying mantis in real life before, because I quite literally tripped over one today and proceeded to freak out over how big it was. It looked straight at me too, help.)
Tomorrow, I have an early train to catch to Okayama. I’m not entirely sure how that region is doing, since the winds and rain have been worse there, although not much compared to Tokyo and surroundings. Shinkansen from Okayama stopped running, but into the other direction. None of the trains I’ll take have been affected, so I’m not expecting a lot of trouble for now. We’ll see.
I’m sad to leave Kyushu behind, but also excited to revisit Okayama (and all of its peaches), so at least there’s something nice to look forward to.

Music-Themed Manga I Love
As someone who plays an instrument and sings (and was once part of a band), I tend to get really excited when I see manga’s or anime’s that have characters that can do those things as well. Seeing the characters deal not only with improving their skills with their instrument of choice but also deal with the music industry and their personal life, takes me back to the time of when I was dealing with the same thing. Granted, I was not in my band for very long (who knew finding a drummer was so difficult) but the time I was in it, I have learned things--about myself and others--that I wouldn’t have otherwise. 
This week, I wanted to share with you all some of the music-related manga’s that I love, not only for beautifully drawn pages but for the story that is told. I hope that these manga will transport you into another world and give you a glimpse into the life of a musician.

1. Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad by Harold Sakuishi

While Kaoru is an honors student, Sentarou is constantly getting into fights and skipping class. However, these two opposites find common ground in one thing—music. He earned the title of "Human Metronome" for performing almost perfectly. Every musician of his age looked up to him. However, after his mother suddenly dies, he became tone-deaf due to the shock and then disappeared, never to be seen onstage since. Two years later, Kousei lives a monotonous life with his childhood friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari supporting him. He continues to cling to music, although performing is still an impossibility for him. This is until his unexpected encounter with Kaori Miyazono, a violinist who performs freely without the dictations of a score. A story of friendship, love, music, and a single lie, Kousei's life begins to change and gain color as Kaori helps him to take up music again.

The story follows the life of Yuu Haruna, who recently moved into Tokyo with his sisters after their father is forced to transfer overseas on work. On his way to buy dinner while looking at his Twitter account, a high school girl suddenly crashes into him. Thinking he was taking upskirt pictures of her, the girl takes Yuu's phone, breaks it, and slaps him before leaving Yuu lying on the ground. As it turns out, this girl—Fuuka Akitsuki—also goes to the school Yuu is transferring to. Unlike most people, Fuuka doesn't own a cellphone; she even listens to music using a CD player. Eventually, these two become closer and decide to form a band with their friends and enter the professional world of music. With Fuuka around, what will now become of Yuu's new life in Tokyo?

Aquellos preocupados por TRIGGER seguirán buscando información. Nagi: Pero aquellos a quienes no le interesen lo suficiente, seguirán creyendo todo lo que dicen las noticias. Acabaran teniendo una imagen influenciada de ellos. Iori: Y entonces, las compañías reclutarán teniendo en cuenta la imagen pública. Shimoka: ¡Y eso fue "Last Dimension" de TRIGGER! Ahora... Momo: …Shimoka-chan… Yuki: …Shimoka-san tiene a su familia y a una gran cantidad de pupilos. Espero que TRIGGER pueda comprenderle... Momo: En el caso de Yamato, Hoshikage estaba de un lado y del otro un insuperable actor mundialmente famoso. Momo: Pero en este caso es Tsukumo contra Yaotome, y ellos no tienen tanto poder como Tsukumo.
