#minecraft launcher not working

anyone having issues with the minecraft launcher? non modded mc launcher wont open for me and another friend but googling it hasnt show much solutions or tells me if others are having the issue.

it isnt via area since i am states away from my friend, and curse forge can load mc fine but that isnt the mc multiple server i want to go back onto xd

i havent tried much for the week but apparently all week my friend has been having issues.

non-redstoner solves a problem that was actually never a problem by using minimal amounts of redstone

basically it’s a launcher that just launches you into the sky if you don’t have that many rockets and also equips you with several things:

netherite boots enchanted with depth strider III and soul speed III

an enchanted golden apple

a singular rocket

an elytra

and a level 2 potion of swiftness

below you can find some images and descriptions detailing how the mechanisms work.

the mechanism at the top of the bubble elevator is simple enough (i dont know redstone so if i can build it anyone can). It’s a tripwire hook to detect when you rise from the water, an observer that outputs a redstone signal when the string is triggered and a sticky piston with a slime block attached to launch you from the water.

i built the corridor because i felt like it and it could definitely be lengthened if you needed to travel a great distance and then fly somewhere. The pods in the side contain dolphins for the dolphins grace boost effect.

and finally we have the equipper, underneath the pressure plate there’s some redstone that outputs a signal to the dispensers on top. Do note that the rockets are dispensed from a dropper and not a dispenser because otherwise the dispenser would dispense a live firework and you would die.

And that’s how i solved a problem that actually was never a problem in the first place with minimal redstone knowledge lmao

So, I decided I wanted to check out this modpack that had looked interesting, so I go and download the curseforge app (cause modpacks are kind of a pain to launch without a launcher... as in I'm not sure how you even do it)

Instadeleted it, you do no get to serve me ads under any circumstances, if you do fuck you, I'm not using you. You're not a website, you're an app, and if you're pounding me with ads regardless of what I'm doing, then I don't think you're secure (and even if you are fuck you)

So I've had to track down an alternative one called uh... GDLauncher. Can't say for sure, but so far seems much much better... seems like an opensource launcher that's just a launcher and that's it

Any advice for setting up prism launcher? It is. Being difficult. And telling me I need java? Which I have? Ack?

it’s been a WHILE since I set up prism on my own machine, but some generic “you’re having Java problems” notes:

start by running java -version on your command line to make sure you have an install of Java in your PATH. what COULD be happening is that you have a Java install, but don’t have it in your PATH so prism can’t find it, or you think you have an install but don’t.

note here that Minecraft Java edition DOES come bundled with the Java version it needs, but that prism isn’t always able to recognize that; you will need a Java install generically for your machine as well.

if you’re getting a Java error while launching the game, you may have the wrong version of Java. Minecraft 1.18+ uses Java 17, rather than Java 8 or 11, and you’ll need to go to oracle’s website and install the latest version of Java 17 for your computer.

alternately, you may have your Java install on a path prism doesn’t recognize—find the Java install and tell prism where it is!

alternately alternately, you could be me and have no less than four different Java versions installed on your machine in order to perform a variety of tasks (look Java 8 is still REALLY POPULAR in the work world). make sure prism is pointing to the correct install.

also I know oracle’s website is terrible, this is because oracle sucks.

Hello!! I have mods for you!!!

Sodium's mod suite runs significantly better than vanilla minecraft. You can also use sodium and various other client side mods on vanilla servers! Meaning you can get better performance and still play with your friends!

Okay, that sounds great? But aren't mods really hard to use?

Nope! Not when you use a mod launcher!

Personally, I recommend Prism, it's very easy to set up and will help you not only manage several different instances (so you can easily swap between mods), but it will also help you keep mods up to date!

Once you have prism, if all you want is some sweet mod optimization, then there's a premade modpack right here that has everything with no bells and whistles:

If you'd like something a bit fancier, with options for shaders and a zoom button, then you can check out this pack instead:

Once you've picked your pack, then you can start looking into other mod options! Smaller mods that just add a few mods or items are usually fairly easy to run, while mods that add a lot of new or complex features may be more difficult. Here's a quick summary of some terms you might encounter when looking at mods:

Fabric/Quilt and Forge - These are all the base api that the mod in question uses. You can think of them like different coding languages modders can build in. Forge is a totally different base api, so Forge is not compatible with fabric/quilt. Many modders will have options for Forge/fabric versions, just make sure to download the right one.

Client Side mod - this is a mod that only effects the client (that means you!), so you can have it installed and running in multiplayer, even if the server doesn't have the same mod. These are usually performance or UI related mods.

Server Side Mod - these mods only need to be installed on a server/host and do not need to be installed on the client. Also often performance mods.

Plugins - These aren't mods! They are server side features that work with bukkit/paper servers using vanilla features. It can allow for some cool stuff to be done without requiring people to install mods on their client.

Custom Disc Installation Guide for Hermitcraft Season 9

I've seen a lot of people struggle with specifically the custom discs, so I made a guide on how to install the mods! It was originally posted as a twitter thread, along with a guide on how to get the world download.

How to install the Custom Discs mod for Decked Out / Hermitcraft 9 world download. Note: I'm assuming you already have the world installed. If you don't know how to do that, you can follow my previous guide here.

1) Follow this link https://oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#jdk17-windows…

2) Scroll down and download the "x64 Installer" (or whatever is more convenient for you).

3) Open your Downloads folder and double click - you may need to right click and "Run as Administrator" if it's not working. Then, click Yes and install the program.

4) The installation software should then open. Just follow the instructions and press Next, Next, and then Close.

5) Open up the Hermitcraft world download. You may have seen the "To play Decked Out as the hermits experienced it..." message in chat. Click on "[Click here]".

6) Press the first link ("Hermitcraft runs on Fabric [link]")

7) Press the download button, then Download for Windows

8) Double click the fabric-installer to open.

9) MAKE SURE THE VERSION IS 1.20! Leave everything else as their defaults. Make sure "Create Profile" is checked. Then, press "Install". - If you can't install, open your normal Minecraft launcher and run 1.20, then close Minecraft.

10) Go back to the Hermitcraft world and download the other three mods. Make sure you download all three of them!

11) Open your Minecraft Launcher and go to Installations. You should see "fabric-loader-1.20". Hover over it and press the folder icon on the right hand side

12) Open the "mods" folder. If you don't have one, create a new folder and name it "mods" (no capitals or punctuation)

13) Drag and drop the three mods you just downloaded into the "mods" folder.

14) Close Minecraft, and then press "Play" on the Fabric installation

Open Singleplayer, and then your hermitcraft world, and everything should be in working order! To get to Decked Out, you can either visit by the Nether Hub (DO is East/Red 2), or teleport by: /tp -523 103 2171
