valentina diaz likes to sew! she wants to be a seamstress. she really enjoys designing clothes and often makes her friends and siblings wear her designs or serve as mannequins for her to pin mock-ups onto

she also likes to wear those plastic-jeweled rings you'd get from like a magazine for girls or something

drew, while being a year-rounder at chb, still goes to school in brooklyn (BAG), along with lacy and sadie kane. it's on the good word of her father, who sponsors chb. argus takes them in the van every morning

mitchell looooves his starbucks. whenever he can, he loves to make a starbucks run and order the most excessively complicated drinks

lacy definitely writes everything with glitter pen exclusively

drew has some staples to her style, namely a pearl necklace she always wears, and all of her jewelry being silver. she always wears things i can best describe as a subset of the "coquette" aesthetic. pink, frilly, fitted. she has clothes that are only from high-end brands and designers and wouldn't be caught dead wearing something cheap. she just genuinely considers it degrading.

lacy and drew, while technically not related, come from closely intertwined family backgrounds. drew's father and lacy's father had been close friends for many years, and spent a few years having an affair with aphrodite. drew and lacy are effectively much more sisterly together than their other siblings. their fathers are still on good terms with the goddess, and she pays them a visit every so often.

(that also lead to lacy and drew going to the same school together)

valentina will spend hours on end hyperfocused on her latest sewing project, and her siblings will often have to tear her away from her work to get her to eat something

mitchell's mortal mum (what, you think there's any way that guy comes from a hetero background?) is stunning. gorgeous. knew her son would be bullied for being gay ever since she heard his accent and decided to raise him the best way she could. (they'd have movie nights)

mitchell definitely did choir as a kid

drew definitely owns a y2k pink flip phone with heart shaped rhinestones and a little charm attached

they probably have a burn book or like an equivalent of it in the cabin. drew writes into it about sadie like it's her fucking diary

the rest of the cabin just kinda stand around her like 🧍🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️🧍🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️ "does she know?" "does she know that's gay?" (drew, of course, is fully aware that she's sapphic, she just doesn't realize that this particular instance of her behaviour also falls under that)

it's a joke that makes a comeback every once in a while that on wednesdays they do wear pink. sometimes they decide to take it very seriously and all of them get all dressed up

drew's dad is a wealthy businessman, probably from at least two generations old money

lacy's dad is also quite wealthy, but his wealth is much newer. he probably made it himself, or his parent did.

point is that it showcases the different approaches they have to their wealth. drew, while peacockish by nature, does have the undeniable basic, but quality made pieces she owns, and carries herself with a sort of poise. lacy loves shiny things and would probably be called tacky by many people

when annabeth was redesigning the cabins, drew probably bothered her (tried to charmspeak her and then probably screamed at her) until she gave them extra space (the other cabins don't need to house nearly as many extensive wardrobes)

they are goofy and materialistic, but they also find ways to bond. in their own little ways. like playing dress to impress together, or sharing stories with the younger campers, or giving each other style advice. i think it's a type of love and looking out for each other that most of the other cabins wouldn't get.

I like to imagine that the Aphrodite cabin has like a ten step night routine and you’re not allowed to miss a single step. They take that seriously.

hear me out: Connor and Mitchell but have their first proper interaction be going on a quest (3rd quester is Lou Ellen because I need more Lou Ellen + Hermes kids shenanigans content) to retrieve a special conch shell that requires the cunning and craftiness of a Hermes and Hecate kid and a connection to the sea that only an Aphrodite kid has. Percy offers them a few pointers on sailing but after that, they're on their own.

not sure what exactly the quest would entail but at one point they stop by a port town and Connor steals a bunch of pearls from an extractor. Mitchell reasonably panics a bit when he finds out because oh gods barely a day in and he already has to charmspeak someone into forgiving and forgetting them but Lou Ellen discovers that the extractor was doing detrimental damage to the sea life, so not being able to profit off of the pearls and harming the business is actually perfectly alright in her books.

Connor: perfectly alright, you say?

Lou Ellen: yeah, why allow some assholes to make money off of animal abuse?

Mitchell, seeing the glint in both of their eyes get brighter: ... sigh. Fine, I guess we can fit ruining their operation in today's itinerary.

They go haywire. Lou Ellen works the mist to give them more cover than usual, allowing Connor to have his fun completely messing with the extractors by setting up (relatively) harmless traps and stealing a little more with each passing second, while Mitchell distracts and deflects any concerns the extractors have

One of the extractors: oh, uh, yes! I can definitely show you where we keep the metal pliers, it's somewhere in the back. Let me just—wait, where the hell are my keys?

Mitchell, leaning in heavy with charmspeak: I think you left them near the back door, right? We can just go there now.

Exactor guy: ... yeah, of course. I always do that, easy access you know? Follow me.

And when they reach the door, Lou Ellen knocks him out and Connor unlocks it, a silver set of keys appearing in his hand seemingly out of nowhere. He winks when he catches Mitchell staring.

The rest of the quest follows pretty much the same: with one of them getting sidetracked and the others jumping in to "have a little fun", as Connor likes to put it. They eventually find the conch shell and return to camp, a little wounded but a whole lot closer.

As soon as Connor is let out of the infirmary, he dashes to the Hephaestas cabin. Mitchell is curious, but no one seems to know anything. Lou Ellen just cackles like a madman when she hears. "Ha, he was so antsy for most of the quest. Glad he's able to do something about it now."

Mitchell has no idea what on earth she's talking about, which takes him more off guard than he'd ever thought it would. Because he really believed that him and Connor had become close friends after everything they'd gone through. And surely, he would’ve known if Connor had something else going on. But apparently not. And Lou Ellen did.

And so what if it makes something burn in his chest? To know that Connor is keeping something from him when he thought they'd passed that hurdle long ago. To have that one conversation under the stars, afloat at sea, just drifting calmly and releasing their worries to the wind, that meant so much to him, not hold that same weight?

So what if he had feelings for Connor?

Mitchell doesn't sulk, because an Aphrodite kid will always retain most of their pride in the face of rejection, dammit. Connor seems to be—not avoiding him, but a little distant than he'd grown familiar with, and it hurts a bit. He can admit that.

It isn't until a few days later that there's a tentative tap on his shoulder after lunch and Mitchell turns around to see none other than Connor Stoll with a face so red, Mitchell is genuinely concerned he's going to pass out.

Mitchell: Connor? Are you okay? You look like you're going to explode or something.

Connor, fiddling with something in his pocket: ah ha ha, um, well. I have—something. For you.

Mitchell, completely taken aback: what? For me?

Connor: yeah, I— uh, I had to ask Nyssa for some help and then I had to go steal—I mean, borrow another one of yours because I wasn't sure how many to use and Nyssa wouldn't stop teasing me even though it had to fit perfectly—but t-the point is! This is for you.

And carefully, he pulls his hand out from his pocket and opens it. Laying gently in the center of his palm is a pearl bracelet. It's beautiful.

Mitchell: wait, are those...?

Connor, fingers tapping restlessly and somehow blushing harder than before: the pearls I stole on the first day? Yeah. I saw them on that boat when we were pulling up to the harbour and I just—

He pauses to let out a low, quiet breath, as though steeling himself.

Connor: I noticed your weren't wearing your favourite bracelet when we left for the quest and Lou Ellen told me that it took some damage from the lava wall the other day and you were heartbroken about it— so, I figured... well, you deserve something as beautiful as you.

And Mitchell is just speechless. His heart is pounding so loud and he melts on the spot because it's the sweetest thing he's ever heard and Connor is the sweetest person ever and gods, it was all for him?

Both of their hands are shaking as Connor helps Mitchell with the bracelet's clasp. And of course, it fits perfectly. Snug but not tight, a comfortable weight like it had been there all along.

Connor begins to pull away but Mitchell grabs his hand properly before he can. With hesitant maneuvering, Mitchell interlocks their fingers. The pearl bracelet subtlety reflects the light from the sun, making it look like it's glowing between them. Mitchell softly gazes at Connor, who tentatively matches his smile.

Mitchell: I love it, I really do. Thank you so much, Connor.

Connor: I'm, I'm really glad you do.

Mitchell: I want to take you somewhere. Follow me?

Connor: of course, anywhere.

So Mitchell leads Connor to his favourite spot near the strawberry fields, where there's enough shade under the sturdy tree but still bright and alive with the sun. Somewhere where they can once more lie down and hear the distant waves, free to drift off calmly and release their feelings and dreams, not just worries, to the winds, side by side.

They run into Lou Ellen on their way there. She takes one look at their intertwined hands, the new bracelet around Mitchell's wrist, and she lets out a triumphant whoop!

Lou Ellen: oh let's GO!!! Connor Stoll, bless your little heart, Cecil owes me 10 drachmas now!

Mitchell: huh, so I'm guessing you knew about this?

Lou Ellen: Mitchell, sweetheart. Every time you looked away, he had the worst case of lovesick puppy eyes I've ever seen. I thought it was bad at camp but this guy was clearly holding back. And I had to put up with Solangelo getting their shit together first-hand.

Connor: wh— I— wait. Did Cecil bet against me? Also...Solangelo?

Lou Ellen: Will and Nico, their last names. And Cecil didn't think you'd ever get the guts to properly talk to Mitchell after the quest, never mind enough to give him the bracelet. I, on the other hand, am familiar with what the sheer powers of long time pining can do. Also, having to stare into each other's eyes for like, 5 minutes while holding the conch shell pretty much sealed the deal.

Will Solace was positively sure of two things. 1. He was unwaveringly devoted to his boyfriend of nearly a year, Nico di Angelo. 2. Of all the demigods at Camp Half-Blood, the Aphrodite kids were not to be toyed with.

love how theyre still working on their relationship in this one!! like they are clearly into each other and they know that but that is not Enough to sustain a relationship. cool commentary that relationships take work AND the work doesnt have to be hard/bad, there just needs to be effort. loved that.

this one was so cute!! it's a small thing but i love the dynamic where nico is such an Explorer you know. because it's very uniquely solangelo in terms of pjoverse!! they don't both want the same things. will is more of a homemaker and always has been. he's not a fighter and he doesn't want to be. he holds down the fort at home, he makes sure everyone is okay, he keeps people in line. whereas nico is right in the throes of the battle, in the middle of everything. they went on an adventure together and it was really hard for both of them. i like reading stuff where they have their own thing and they're very proud of each other for it.

There is something frighteningly tangible about all her dreams involving Percy Jackson. 6 instances Annabeth dreams of Percy.

Cabin Ten Headcanons, go!

Ages go: Piper (15), Valentina (15), Drew (14), Mitchell (13), Lacy (12)

Time at Camp goes: Mitchell (5 years), Drew (3 years), Lacy (1 year), Valentina (6 months (came ~2 months before the Titan War)), Piper

(both previous points are at the time of TLH)

Drew became counselor because she was. The only one capable. She was the only one not bursting into years every two seconds, the only one who could shove away her emotions into a little box at the bottom of her heart and ignore them

(one of the reasons she was so cruel was because she couldn't understand how her siblings were so "weak" and didn't want to let that continue)

(not an excuse for her behaviour, btw! She was still very much in the wrong. But it's an explanation good enough that her siblings can forgive her after she works for it a bit)

Mitchell and Valentina feel kinda shit about the whole situation for a while after, once they've talked it all out and they realized how much Drew didn't want to be counselor and have those responsibilities, Mitchell because he was next in line and Valentina because she was the oldest, but Drew shuts it all down by pointing out that she was the only one not crying herself to sleep/awake ever day for weeks after the war

Lacy is the baby of the Cabin, obviously. No one's allowed to mess with her (counselor Drew was an exception because of everyone's shitty mental states. She's making up for it with a lot of friendship bracelets and nail painting)

That's part of the reason Drew was with Lacy at the Brooklyn Academy for the Gifted. Lacy wanted to check it out, try and see if she wants to go to school and be a summer camper, and her Cabin was not letting her go alone, hence Drew, the one with the least qualms about doing anything to protect her. Lacy was kinda bitter about being babied like this, which is why she's petty and antagonistic about Drew when talking to Sadie. Drew just doesn't want Sadie and Carter around her sister because they have ✨ weird vibes ✨ (also known as: Egyptian gods in their heads)

Drew is v much an "actions not words" type of care person, unlike most of the Cabin. It makes her clash with newcomers before they learn how to read her, because while the rest of the Cabin is being all affectionate and verbal, she's throwing out jabs and hardly bothering to talk and simultaneously making sure they have all of the self-care products they like and such

Mortal families!

Valentina's mom is a museum curator that cheated on her stepdad. It got revealed when her older brother got them some of those online ancestry tests for fun. Stepdad almost immediately began applying for divorce and custody (of her and her two younger half-siblings); the information came out a week or two before she ended up at Camp and she's staying there until the adults sort everything out (parents are in the know about mythology, but not the war)

Drew's mom is a model; not huge, but enough to have the fame hit her in the head. She was a super-controlling, influencer type of parent, always showing a dolled-up Drew off. A satyr brought her to Camp and she decided not to go back, but still deals with the effects of her parenting; it's the reason she's so closed off and focused on appearance, and she probably has an unspecified ED of the "I need to count exactly how many calories I'm eating" type

Mitchell's dad was a photographer who died when Mitchell was 5; he was then raised by his uncle until he got to Camp, when it was decided it'd be best he stay (uncle is not in the know about mythology, he thinks it's a boarding school for neurodivergent kids; Mitchell usually spends school breaks with him)

Lacy's dad is a glass blower who married her stepdad when she was 6, bringing an older sister with him. Stepdad turns out to be Clear-Sighed, found out when a new teacher joins Lacy's school and he questions the goat horns; the satyr then brings Lacy to Camp, since there's no point in keeping up the charade. She sort of flips-flops between Camp and home throughout the year, but will eventually settle on being a summer camper with the occasional visit to Camp during the school year (her family is in the know, though it took a while for her dad to get it; they know about the war, which is why they agree to the chaos of Lacy constantly moving between Camp and home)

Drew is some flavour of aroace because. I am aroace. And also, I love the idea of an aroace Aphrodite child. She never thought the Right of Passage thing was really that big of a deal and only got into it when she realized the romantic relationships around her only seemed to ruin lives (cough cough, Silena and Beckendorf, cough cough); she didn't really realize how much of an impact that sort of deliberate heartbreak can have on both involved parties. Piper helps her figure out she's aroace because she's the most pop-culture educated in her immediate vicinity; Drew proceeds to have a bunch of angst about being a child of love that doesn't experience love and can she really be like that? But her siblings always shut it down and get her like. Pins and bracelets and stuff. They're mostly the tackiest things ever, but she wears them constantly anyways

Mitchell can see attraction and has accidentally blurted out who likes who numerous times; feelings about this are complicated, because it's embarrassing as hell, but he has also started like. Half the relationships at Camp

Drew uses a pink battle axe with a heart-shaped hole as her preferred weapon. It's kinda based on a tabar/great axe, shape-wise? It's pretty big and Piper laughs when she first sees it, then proceeds to get her ass kicked in five seconds because Drew is a demigod and a veteran and she can fight, dammit

(I know it's not the most practical weapon, and she would know swordfighting as well, but. Rule of Cool, y'know?)

Lacy has a crossbow and joins a lot of shooting competitions against the Apollo Cabin

Mitchell and Valentina both use swords, but Valentina's still trying out other fighting styles to find her favourite. Mitchell also likes poisons, of both the normal and mythical kind.
