Pure bred dogs r awesome and great but truly nothing makes me happier than someone going to the shelter and getting the most pathetic generic mutt they can find and loving that dog like it is a 10,000$ national show champion

Is Teddy a full Yorkie, or a mix? I ask because he looks like my dog Remi but with floppy ears, and she's a Yorkie/chihuahua mix. :3

Allow me to paint a word picture for you all of some potential canon for Transfer Error AU.
People have learned that Emmet is in possession of a thought-to-be-extinct breed of sneasel, but it hasn't yet gotten out that the sneasel is actually Ingo. So, as we already know, numerous people are demanding that the Pokemon be confiscated for science/species preservation. This is mostly done over social media with no actual legal attempts being made, or legal channels being accessed, and Emmet has been able to ignore it for the most part. (Aside from the occasional update from friends/coworkers.)
Until someone manages to get on to an actual news station/late-night show, trying to turn public appeal against him and force him to give up Ingo.
This person tries to sway people into thinking that Emmet is incapable in some form or another and that, if he really wants to help the Pokemon, he should hand it over to a licensed, professional Pokemon breeder. That he’s unqualified to care for the pokemon and it must be taken from him.
Emmet, predictably, takes great offense to this but not for the reason most would think.
We all agree that Emmet had to have done extensive Pokemon breeding to get his Galvantula, but I would like to suggest he was far more involved in the whole thing than just dropping the needed Pokemon off at a daycare and waiting for eggs to appear.
As a result of this and the actions he took; he makes a post on his own, personal media account and fires off a text to Elesa asking her to share it.
The post is a selfie of Emmet himself and a brief caption.
Sitting in the picture is Emmert with a sleeping Ingo curled up in his lap (or into his side), and holding up a small ID so it can be very clearly seen with a verrry annoyed/angry expression. He's not quite glaring at the camera but his irritation/offense is still clearly seen on his face.
Said ID has a number of specific numbers on it blurred/Blocked out, but Emmet’s name is definitely on it, with a fancy/Very Legal and official looking seal stamped on the front. (Partially over Emmet’s name, proving that it is genuine and not a counter fit.)
The caption, like most things said by Subway Boss Emmet, is short and to the point:
Smear campaigns =/= Proper Preservation Procedure. No Proper Legal Protocol = No Sneaslets
This is followed by the brunt of Unova’s population (outside of electric type fans and breeders) losing their minds that one of the most powerful trainers in the country is, in fact, a licensed Pokemon Breeder.
And, as some point out, completely right that there is no legal leg to stand on. After all, as a previously extinct species of pokemon, the sneasel’s technically covered under the same laws that prevent revived fossil pokemon from being taken from their trainers! No one can take it unless they can prove that have government backing for both research and restoration of the species.
And if they want it bred, it would be significantly detrimental to the attempts to take it from a breeder it already trusts.
Emmet said it best. No proper legal protocol, no sneaslets!

Anyways, to continue the discussion from last night surrounding dog health, longevity and its relation to inbreeding I think the above study from 2021 is a very interesting read for my fellow dog obsessed (since some of you were looking for studies on the matter).
(Please note that this is just one study and to read everything and come to your own opinion. A single study is not necessarily proof or conclusive of everything but can help us gain a greater understanding of a wide and nuanced issue within dog breeding. This study itself comes to the conclusion that more research is needed).
This study grouped dogs by FCI group and some interesting tidbits I found when reading include:
-Group 5 (Spitz and Primitive) tended to have a lowest average rate of morbidity.
-Brachycephalic breeds had both a higher average morbidity and a higher average rate of inbreeding. They also had the highest rate of veterinary events (the study used date from pet insurance).
-Inbreeding values within dog breeds with closed stud books was on average equivalent to that of sibling matings (25%) while recent breeds that have open studbooks as well as landrace dogs that account for a large amount of founding dogs (such as the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog with 200(!!) founding dogs) did not have these inbreeding values.
-Higher levels of inbreeding can increase morbidity within dogs of the same weight range. (10% increase of veterinary events for a 30 kg dog, 37% increase in veterinary events for a 60 kg dog).
-Some exceptions to the broad conclusions of the study were: The Border terrier, Basenji, Collie, and English setter breeds have high inbreeding but low morbidity. Likewise, the Malinois, Pomeranian and Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka (Russian Toy) have lower inbreeding and high morbidity.

It's sometimes really weird looking back at shit you said as a kid that your parents, like, didn't? Really disagree with on a moral level when they probably should have? Like as a kid I always talked about how I wanted a pet owl or whatever wild animal of the week i loved and my parents were EXCLUSIVELY opposed to how much it'd cost to get one.
Like
THATS the thing i wanted that you were okay with??? A chicken you're against but not the pipe dream of owning a pet owl?????? Really????????

prev post keeps making me think about this person i saw saying something along the lines of "how do we know these [agility] dogs even want to be doing this!". about dogs competing at crufts like girl if a dog doesnt want to be doing agility you would never get to that level of competition. and then even worse said the same thing about. gundogs. like oh how do we know these gundogs want to be doing gundog things. hm????

Oh great tell me you don't know anything about brachycephaly/BOAS without telling me you don't know anything about brachycephaly/BOAS. Wow that is sooo true every Pug is going to suffocate and die instantly because they've only had flat faces since 1992 or whatever. Sooo true 👏

Thinking religiously about the lady who brought her doodle puppy in to be groomed and said he was from a, “very reputable breeder”
Ma’am that’s a mutt
He’s from someone’s backyard, I assure you

i actually don't mind that the norwegian sheltie club has a recommended puppy price of $2500 (even if it's gone over inflation a bit). what i do mind is that a dog can technically have 1 specialized health test at 8 weeks old and be set for life w/o complaints while (certain) breeders claim we are "testing our breed to death" 🥰

my old girl Kiwi was recently left alone when her sister Bolt passed, so I brought in a pair of little friends for her!
White is Strawberry and the other is her sister and the only mouse that was not also albino in the Petco, Blueberry! Kiwi has taken to them very well and nannies them, grooming them (sometimes forcibly) and letting them hide under/behind her when they get spooked.
Kiwi is around two years old (about max lifespan for a healthy mouse) but she is also very spry and active so I imagine the "Berry Girls" will have their grandma for a surprisingly long time yet!
