MF Day #20: Footi

On first glance, the Spikels may have the weakest color scheme out of all the tribes, But I actually think it works with these sharp looking mixels. Their colors represent the dry colorless aesthetic of a dessert, which is where cactuses are commonly found.

It’s also a fitting place for the Spikels to inhabit considering their warm personalities, which is especially apparent with Footi. And with his design, it brings out the kind of character who appears seemly rough and violent, contrasting his lovey dovey soul. I honestly couldn’t think of a better tribe theme to emphasize that other than spikes.

Mixels/TMBG-Related Update

(Keep in mind, this isn't actually real. Just pretend that it is)

Okay so, I'll need to let you know that there won't be a proper TF Tuesday drawing this week.

That's because I'm gonna be busy rehearsing for something rather big.

If you've been reading the News page on the Mixels website, you're probably aware that a Mixels concert based around They Might Be Giants will be happening this Friday at the Desoto Theatre in Rome, GA.

And yes, I will be a part of it.

We'll be doing 2 sets, one with a tape recorder for the percussion, and another with a full band.

Only me, Magnifo, and Chao will be playing during the tape recorder set.

I will be singing the songs relegated to John Linnell (and a few of John Flansburgh's, due to Magnifo's vocal range).

Magnifo will play rhythm guitar (similar to John Flansburgh).

Footi was supposed to be a part of the show instead of Magnifo, but he's currently stuck in a contract with Mr. Burbleton (my former tour manager who nearly broke me back in January), so Magnifo will be filling in for him.

Chao will be playing accordion, and will also do backing vocals on some of the songs.

As for the full band...

Vulk will be playing the keyboard.

Ash (from the Infernites) will be playing lead guitar.

Chao will play the bass, unless she's playing the accordion, in which case Oozly (from the Glorp Corp) will play the bass instead.

And Blip (from the Spikels) will play the drums.

I'll still make posts this week, just don't expect any art that's rather complex.

Update: Why the Desoto Theatre of all places? Well, it's a theatre I went to a number of times as a kid, so it'll be nice to play at a venue that I feel nostalgic for.

Development

Forrest, along with Alexandre, Veronica, and Landon, were designed as Rosie’s age mates, Forrest (formerly Don) initially being a small, timid child who could talk to animals and wandered around in the woods. This concept itself was recycled from Lyman’s prototype and was ultimately used for Cedric. Don was conceived as being celadon rather than forest green, his color scheme going to Dante. Uniquely, Forrest was redesigned and then aged up; he was initially incredibly tiny, was made into one of the taller characters, and then made an adult. He wasn’t to be too terribly developed at the time, but he quickly evolved into a much more aware, crafty, and social version of himself.

A Dance of Love

Title: A Dance of Love

(Scene: Boone and Blossom are in a beautiful garden, surrounded by vibrant flowers and soft pink mist. Footi, the kind and heartfelt Spikel Mixel, notices them from a distance.)

Footi: (excitedly) Oh, look at that! Love is in the air! How delightful!

(Boone and Blossom share a tender moment, exchanging affectionate glances.)

Boone: (smiling) Blossom, you make every moment magical.

Blossom: (blushing) And you, Boone, bring warmth to my heart.

(Footi can't contain his excitement and decides to add a touch of dance to the love-filled atmosphere.)

Footi: (skipping over) Ah, love! The most beautiful dance of all! Allow me to join in the celebration!

(Boone and Blossom share a laugh as Footi starts to twirl and dance around them, spreading joy with his ballet moves.)

Footi: (spinning) Love is like a graceful pirouette, a dance that lifts the spirits!

(Boone and Blossom, caught up in the joyous energy, start to dance along with Footi. The garden becomes a stage for their impromptu dance of love.)

Boone: (laughing) Who knew our love story would have such a wonderful dance number?

Blossom: (twirling) It's like a dream, and every step is filled with love.

(Footi continues to dance, encouraging the couple to express their love through movement.)

Footi: (encouragingly) Let the dance of love guide your hearts!

(Boone and Blossom, hand in hand, dance under the moonlight, surrounded by the sweet-smelling pink mist created by Blossom.)

Footi: (smiling) Ah, love and dance, a perfect harmony!

(The scene ends with Boone and Blossom sharing a sweet kiss, embraced by the magical atmosphere and the joyful spirit of Footi's dance.)

Fade out. The garden remains a place of love and enchantment, with Footi, the heartfelt Spikel Mixel, leaving a trail of happiness in his wake.

Mixel fandom, I bestow upon you a Mixel OC I made

So her name is Florali, she's the leader of the Floracons (which I need to make members of) and is Flain's girlfriend, more info is under the cut if your curious.

Personality

Florali is the kind, calm, caring leader of the Floracons, she's one of the more reserved leaders as she prefers to stay Floracon Forest with her tribe. Florali is also introverted, but loves giving a helping hand to her friends and wisdom to her tribe.

I based her design off of a hula dancer

Despite not looking like one physically, Florali is a cactus. Her spines are just more of a self defense mechanism than anything else and only really pop out when she's in danger. Art example below.

Florali doesn't like it when her spines go off, while her spines are a good defense mechanism, it takes a while for her spines to go back into her body.

Florali likes gardening, flower arranging, and making flower crowns.

She has been confused for a hedgehog, a porcupine, and even a Spikel because of her spines.

Surprisingly good friends with the Spikels, mainly because the Spikels get their flowers from the Floracons and the Spikels love flowers in general. Out of all the Spikels, Florali is the closest with Footi.

Floracon Forest is located near The Farmlands, making Fang Gang the Floracons neighbors.

Florali is around the same height as Seismo

Since Mixels is a comedy, a slapstick comedy at that. I'm going to say that the worst Flain's fire (or the Infernite Kingdom in genera) can do to her is just comedically burn her.

The chillest couple around Mixel Land

Flain's flame on his head is the only fire that Florali is not cautious around.

Florali gives him Infernite flowers (or any flowers that can last in the Infernite Kingdom without dying). Flain gives her normal flowers because he prefers small, but modest gestures, although he will give her native Infernite flora.
