I know Hydro doesn't really have a characterization outside of being Bi Han's friend and getting killed by Hanzo, so instead I will give him one.

Basically this is how I imagine Bi Han and Hydro's friendship.

Lin Kuei Sharing a Bed with Their S/O

Warnings: 18+ for hints at suggestive themes, lots of fluff, gender-neutral reader

♤ Older Sub-Zero (Bi-Han)

Bi-Han's bedroom is always going to be frigid to the point where your breath is visible and you're shivering; it's a tidy and roomy space, but he's prepared too, you're surprised about how many cozy blankets he has on hand for you.

Must have some sort of physical contact with you at all times; loves to protectively curl himself around you and you always wake up a tangled mess, sometimes when he's too tired Bi-Han will just starfish on top of you but he means well. ALWAYS big spoon, and has some interesting ideas for how he'll wake you up in the morning ;)

Between a light and a heavy sleeper; he can fall asleep/stay asleep fairly well, though if something alarming happens (nightmares usually) or if he senses something off, he's up immediately. Bi-Han's a morning person, and rarely falls asleep before you unless he's extremely exhausted.

♤ Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang)

Kuai Liang's bedroom is not as cold as his older brother's, but the low temperature is still noticeable; it's a very well-organized and large space (obviously, since he's the Grandmaster), and he's also got ton of blankets.

Has grown to love cuddles and much like his brother, Kuai Liang prefers having some sort of physical contact while in bed; not as clingy as Bi-Han but still expect closeness, and cold kisses. It's a toss up between big/little spoon, but Kuai Liang is usually big spoon.

More of a light sleeper than anything; Kuai Liang always has his guard up, before you he spent nights sleeping rigidly. Morning person, prefers to make sure you get rest before himself, or he'll have to get up earlier to take care of his Grandmaster tasks.

♤ Smoke (Tomáš Vrbada)

Tomáš's bedroom stays pretty well-kept aside from the occasional small stack of books on the ground, and it stays relatively warm in there; it's a cozy little space considering how cold and harsh the atmosphere of the temple is.

LOVES cuddles; Tomáš enjoys holding his partner so much, physical touch is one of his love languages and he prefers having sleeping positions where he can face you (sweetheart's cradle is his jam). Absolutely a big spoon, but rarely will want to be little spoon. Be ready for lots of kisses and nuzzles.

Very light sleeper; Tomáš tends to stay up later because of his insomnia and nightmares (thanks enenra). Also likes making sure you're asleep before he even considers rest, it reassures him that you're safe. 100% not a morning person whatsoever, he hates getting up early.

♤ Cyrax

Cyrax's bedroom is a bit cluttered from blueprints for his projects or little prototypes of tech he's working on, but otherwise comfortable; these things are always out of the way though, it's sort of like a messy kind of organization (?).

Frequently switches between big spoon and little spoon (absolutely melts when he's little spoon), but loves resting his head on your chest to listen to your heartbeat; Cyrax also tends to move around a little bit when he sleeps, so don't feel alarmed when he strays away, he always finds his way back to you.

Very heavy sleeper, and not a morning person at all since he frequently stays up all night to work on weapons; sometimes he'll refuse to let you out of bed, smothering you with tired kisses while you laugh and try to wiggle away from him ("5 more minutes, I promise.")

♤ Sektor

Sektor's bedroom is fairly luxurious for an assassin (being the Grandmaster's son has its perks); it's a much larger room than other warriors have too, and it's in a more private spot at the temple away from the bunks.

Claims to be indifferent to cuddling with his S/O (he's lying, he thrives for it). He won't exactly be all cuddly, opting instead to sleep with your backs touching, but by the time your eyelids are drooping, Sektor's already moving closer to you, wrapping his arms around your frame. Loves it when you're pressed up against his side, with your head on his chest; big spoon mostly.

Morning person and a heavy sleeper, which is surprising; absolutely nothing can wake that man up and he's on a strict schedule too, so he's stubborn to go through with anything that messes with the balance; however, he makes exceptions for you. Will drag you back to bed if he wants.

♤ Hydro

Hydro's bedroom is extremely organized, there isn't a whole lot of belongings in there (besides his gear and other bare necessities) and it feels slightly chillier; he is technically a cryomancer after all.

Surprisingly big on affection; Hydro is a pretty tall and well-built man, so his appearance is off-putting to others but he'll become putty in your hands when you cuddle. Loves being little spoon, finds it adorable when you do, but otherwise you're curled up next to him since he doesn't want to smoosh you.

Hydro is a very busy man so he won't join you in bed at the same time most nights unfortunately, he loves crawling into bed next to you when he arrives back at the temple; also a light sleeper, but he'll hold you while you're asleep, it relaxes him knowing that you're there with him. Not a morning person either.

hey, genuine question:

i love dilf hydro as much as the next guy (elder gods know the lin kuei need an instructor that isn’t Awful), but where exactly did that come from?

in his original appearance, he was bi-han’s close friend and fellow lin kuei member (who gets murdered but i digress). was it due to MK Legacy? i know he was 50 in that (when cyberized), but there’s also nothing saying he was an instructor.

either way im incorporating Hydro being an older instructor into my stuff but i do wonder why the fandom went more for one than the other

For the record, my Lin Kuei bros include Kuai Liang, Bi-Han, Tomáš, and Hydro along with occasionally Cyrax

Cyrax joined the Lin Kuei as an adult and is the only semi-sane person in the entire clan. He makes it a point to introduce the other Lin Kuei bros, who were kidnapped as kids, to various treats and fun experiences that normal ppl would have whenever they are on missions together and away from the clan. This has lead to all four of them being really good at making Botswanan food (Cyrax is from Botswana according to canon)

Bi-Han was obsessed with Pokemon as a kid and has a secret hoard of cards. His favorite pokemon as a kid was Totodile but now it is Phantump (there is a reason for that and it is sad)

Bi-Han also got his ears pierced while on a long term mission once, with like, six different piercings, and still has the earrings he wore even though the holes have long since closed up. He got the piercings bc A) self expression and B) He wanted to look like his mom and sister.

Kuai Liang's sweet tooth is actually terrifying. He can smell sweet things (Candy, cookies, ice cream, etc) from several rooms away and Will tackle someone in order to get some. He's got more restraint about it now than he did as a kid, but Bi-Han does have a scar on his bicep from Kuai Liang biting him to get at his milkshake

Tomáš likes to sew and is particularly good at embroidery. after he gets resurrected from being a revenant, he embroiders a bunch of flowers into his armor as a way of symbolizing new beginnings

Hydro can sleep anywhere: On concrete, in a pool, in an airvent, hanging upside down from the ceiling, etc. If he is tired, he will sleep and you cannot wake him unless he's in danger.

❄Things about Cryomancers❄

Summary: headcanons about cryomancer lore, characteristics, etc., a little bit of canon stuff at the beginning

Pre-MK11 ret-con: cryomancer lineages originate in Earthrealm, and cryomancy is seen as an elder god's blessing; several populations around the world, with those in Lin Kuei being the most powerful.

Post-MK11 ret-con: cryomancer lineages originate from ancient Outworld (Edenian) bloodlines that are exiled to Earthrealm; one such group of cryomancers that was drawn to the colder climate of Arctika founded the Lin Kuei.

The old Lin Kuei monitored every single cryomancer outside the clan they could possibly find, mainly using them to keep the gene pool strong.

^ However, female cryomancers were considered "weak" by the Lin Kuei, and were seen beneficial if they had sons with the cryomancer gene (Hydro's mother for example); male cryomancers on the other hand were subsequently taken into the clan.

Cryomancers have heightened senses of touch; it helps them decipher how powerful they make their coldness and its products (weapons, ice-balls, etc.)

Underdeveloped cryomancer abilities are not unheard of, but are uncommon; Hydro is a prime example of this, whereas Rain is an actual hydromancer and not a cryomancer.

Have very slow metabolisms and do not need to eat as often as average humans, but still need to eat as much, quantity wise; Bi-Han holds the record of any Lin Kuei to go the longest without food during a mission, which was 32 days.

Cryomancers have a limit to how much heat they can stand, but it varies from person to person; around 65-70° F is the average tapping out point.

MUST hydrate 24/7 to keep their bodies cool and heighten their abilities.

Sharper and longer cuspids (canine teeth); ancient cryomancer diets were mostly carnivorous. Bi-Han and Hydro have more noticable fangs than Kuai Liang and Frost do.

Most abilities are strongly based around emotions, more with feelings of happiness, sadness, and anger; these mainly manifest in the form of icicles and frost, either on the cryomancer's body or their surroundings.

Each cryomancer has their own unique ice crystal (snowflake) pattern formation; its sort of like fingerprints, no two cryomancers are able to create the same pattern.

Seemingly have their own 'climate' that can alter the spaces around them; some cryomancers have more noticeable 'cold auras' than others, like Bi-Han.

Pure-blood cryomancers are extremely rare in the modern day; Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, Hydro, and Frost are all half-cryomancer. The Sub-Zeroes' grandfather (aka 1st Sub-Zero) and their father were pure-blood cryomancers, and so was Hydro's mother.

Cryomancers tend to be larger (taller, bulkier) than the average human; Hydro (6' 7") and Bi-Han (6' 5") were absolute units. Kuai Liang (5'11"-6'0) and Frost (5'6") are (sorta) exceptions, but both are still very powerful.

So I got this ask twice basically the first time was just for Sektor, Cyrax and Smoke but since you’re asking for all six I felt it was better to chose this one. Let’s get into it.

So I’ve already done dating the Sub-Zero brothers here

I’ve also basically covered what things are like with Smoke, Cyrax and Sektor in my fic Earning Your Keep. So please check out their respective chapters but keep in mind it’s a very ns/ft fic and each chapter is jam packed full of smut. Kuai Liang and Bi-Han of course have their own chapters as well so if you lovelies are so inclined please read the whole story

So all that’s left is Hydro!

Dating Hydro:

Hydro is one of the quieter, more serious Lin Kuei but that doesn’t mean dating him will be a bad time or anything. Hydro is close friends with Bi-Han but is his more grounded counterpart whereas Bi-Han is a Grade A Fuckboi Hydro is a gentleman.

He prefers a quieter setting like a secluded tea house in the village at the base of the Lin Kuei temple. He’ll arrive very easy and make sure he has fresh tea and snacks waiting for your arrival.

He dresses Western and modern in a sharp pair of slacks and nice button up and a smart blue vest, he looks wonderful with his long blond hair done up in a half ponytail as he greets you.

The two of you chat for hours about anything and everything and it’s wonderful for you both even if Hydro is a little quiet at the beginning.

He walks you back home and grasps your hand gently before brushing his lips against the back of it and asking if he can see you again.
