She stepped in front of him, placing a hand on his chest to stop his path. “You and I, working together, chaton. We could’ve done it by now if you stopped messing around for five minutes and took this seriously.” “I take it very seriously,” Chat Noir said, the jovial lilt in his voice telling otherwise. He brought his staff across his shoulders, hooking both wrists on either end as he met her gaze. “We’re tied, my lady, which means I’m also only one Akuma away from a win.” He leaned closer, the heat of his skin shimmering over hers. “You do remember what I get if I win, don’t you?” Ladybug pushed his face away, her palm tingling as she pulled away from his cheek. “You’re impossible.” “No,” he said, bringing his baton down and extending it to full length. His gaze caught on something unseen beneath the domed ceilings. “Just quicker than you.” With a metallic click, he was on his way up, one hand extended out before him as he reached into the shadows. Ladybug caught the dark flutter of wings midway through his ascent and, blood rushing with adrenaline, tossed her yo-yo after him.
