Kingdom Rush - Flash

Started playing emishadow master of garden, and those are my honest opinions:
I'm just there for the story.
The battle system is okayish.
But the units diversity is something to be discussed. I've seen some people comparing it to Priconne... but priconne battle system and units diversity is so much better and you won't face so many difficulties on early progression and resources.
There's so many holes that needs filled.
The chat system doesn't allow you to copy messages, crippling a little the communication.
Guilds search doesn't allow search by name, but the guild IDs are so fucking unnecessarily long and you can't just send a invite that everyone can see like on some other games, and as i said, you can't copy it so you need to refresh till you see the name of the guild you wanna join. As the game progress and more players come, this will be a nightmare.
As i said of the lack of diversity on units, there's no suitable one for X enemy, taking N Chronicles 4-1~6 as a example, they attack your middle unit, but there's a offensive character there, and offensive characters defense is pitifully low.
If you don't have a high enough level, you can't pass. That's the case for some other stages, that even with superior power as the recommended(1k~ difference, that should be significant early game) and elemental advantage, i failed many times.
Every day ended on spending what i can on stamina to have a okay progress.

Soooo I've been delving into the world of otome games and well there are two I am currently OBSESSED with. So imma give y'all my opinion on both games and which of the main characters I like :)
Game 1, Love And Deepspace:
Lemme tell you, this game is captivating in the best way possible and all of the features are just amazing?? Like you can get so far in like 5 days and then you kinda have to grind and wait for the next day to level up and progress but once you get the hang of the game it's honestly so immersive. I can be on there for hours just messing around with the dating aspect of it. Like omgggg. As for my favourite boys, Y'all I am simping HARD for Sylus rn and I'm so sad I've already played through what's available for his main story. So like over all of the available boys to date etc, Sylus is my number one overall. As for the main story line of the main 3 boys, Zayne is absolutely taking my heart and running with it ngl. Like just look at these men.
Sylus:

Zayne:
Tumblr media
Y'all have no idea how much I love both of them fhdjdjeh.
Game 2, Error 143:
YO WENT I TELL YOU THIS LIL INDIE GAME ON STEAM CAPTURED MY HEART ONLY HOURS AGO. Like I just downloaded it cause it looked kinda interesting but HOLY FUCK am I incredibly hooked now. Like just talking to Micah was so fun and like,,, it felt too real BC the way the MC's dialogue is, it's genuinely how I'd talk to people and how my attitude towards people are. Like the whole game is obviously older Gen Z coded from the way Micah talks to you and the slang used etc. It's genuinely so immersive and it's only like a couple of hours of gameplay if you're playing it for the first time but you can 100% speed run it in like 30 minutes. There are 3 endings, The Bad Ending, The Good Ending and The Secret Ending. I have gotten all 3 and I am waiting to grab the DLC and pay for the extra stuff the dev has put up on patreon. But like seriously, guys I am in love with Micah Yujin and I seriously hope the dev keeps updating this game and adding more content to it BC it's sooooo good!!
Tumblr media
Genuinely the only gif I can find of him 😩 but he's such a cocky ass dorky guy and I love him with my whole heart.
Also go give the Dev of Error 143: @jennyvipham some love BC her game is genuinely amazing and it deserves so much more recognition and love ngl. She honestly deserves the world for bringing Micah into the world

Metal Gear Solid Mobile
Even in a series as prolific as Metal Gear, it is not immune to missing or lost releases, and there are blind spots in the series that many don’t know about or haven’t heard of. Metal Gear Solid Mobile is one such game. It is a ‘lost’ game in the series, released solely on mobile platforms & not widely publicized. It’s also unique in how advanced it was for a mobile game at the time. MGS Mobile reaches toward the level of the console games, despite a smaller screen & keypad controls, and it gets might close that lofty aim.

Game Review, Part 2: Lovebrush Chronicles
Read Part One Here
By the time your character finishes the Eden routes, it's become clearer what is going on and what the threat is to Earth. I believe you can read the existing worlds in any order, but I suggest not doing so, because the revelations in each world build upon each other.
The third route, is actually more like route 2.5 - Awakening, and while there is less at stake here, the stories are darker, and none of them have conclusive endings.
youtube
In "Awakening" MC doesn't leave Earth. Instead, she and each LI go to a new "virtual reality theater" and experience a personalized movie experience. The LIs are told that the experience will read their subconscious to give them a movie about a possible future. What MC knows is that this experience is actually to wake the LIs up a threat to Earth (from, well, more details would be a spoiler).
Each of the awakening stories are sci-fi, and they deal with how MC and their LI's lives have been changed by the threat. Cael too gets a story here, but for him we get a story that might be about his past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Awakening stories are each about a third of the length of the other worlds' main stories, and if you've got stamina saved (and in this game, you can stack up your daily stamina between reading routes, so you can indeed have a lot banked) it's easy enough to get through all of these in a few hours if you are a fast reader.
Finally we come to the main story (Lost Bloodline) that was just released a couple of days ago, and I've only read that story's prologue. This one is being released in three different parts, with part one covering Ayn, Alkaid, and Clarence's story, part two will be Cael's (I believe) and part three will be Lars'.
From what I have seen of Lost Bloodline, MC's travel to this particular world was, unlike her other visits, unexpected and unwilling, and she does not know how to travel back to her own world. This world is a lush and vibrant planet populated by people who can turn into animals.
Tumblr media
There are four factions who have dominion over certain parts of the world, The Lord of the Light (Lars), The Lord of the Wind (Clarence), The Lord of the Forest (Alkaid) and the Lord of the Night (Ayn).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this route, Cael will (finally) be a LI as well, but at the beginning of this story, he's searching for MC, but he realizes that he is on the right world, but at a different place in their timeline.
Tumblr media
As you can see from this and the previous post, there is an abundance of content in this game. Besides the main story, there are event stories that happen in between (and around) main story releases. These generally alternate between stories in the modern/true world that are tied to calendar events (New Years, White Day, Halloween) and stories that have fantasy elements (a story collection in which MC is a witch, a cyberpunk story involving a game, a historical fantasy associated with the lantern festival, for example).
(Someone has nicely put together a spreadsheet of story and event order here).
Additionally, you can unlock modern day stories by increasing your affection points with the characters and by collecting gacha cards. There is also a way to phone and text the other LIs (though Cael is notoriously bad at answering calls), and get mini stories there too. I'm amused that Lars is very fond of sending gifsets to MC. Modern Lars is kind of a goofball at times.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the Gacha... the card collection you have is what you use to advance in the story. You put these cards in an array of "battle cards" and at various points in the story, they are needed to fend off an attack:
To level up the power on your cards, there is a "practice area" available on your home page:
Tumblr media
And that brings me to one of the things I don't like about the game. The UI is very complicated, and it took me a good week of playing it before I got a sense of where everything is. Each of these areas connects to a daily task of some kind that you need to complete, or sometimes just check in, in order to pick up stamina or in game currency. It's not a simple go in and click one or two buttons. You need to hop all over the place (there's also an upstairs, and an island map that you zip through) in order to get your daily gifts. Again, once I learned where everything was, it became easier to go through it all, but there were a few days where I missed gifts because I simply didn't see that they were there.
(The good thing about training your gacha cards to level them up though, is that you can go in and program it on automatic, then go do something else for five minutes. You don't have to baby it.)
If you're still with me, here is my bullet list of pros and cons of Lovebrush.
Pro: Content, lots of content, a fascinating storyline that builds on the overall series lore world by world.
Con: Complicated UI
Pro: MC. She's great, she isn't overpowered, but she does have abilities, and generally most of the LIs respect those abilities (in face, the Eden version of Lars recognizes that she is stronger than he is and hires her as a bodyguard).
Con/Pro: Not all of the world route endings are completely happy. Winning often comes at a cost, and some endings are definitely bittersweet. Still, it adds to the tension and emotional connection to the story, but it's not like Cybird where there are happily ever afters in everything but the specifically marked tragic routes. (Not that there is anything wrong with that, I'm still an Ikesen uber, through and through).
Pro: If you make the wrong choice, you die, or end up in a time loop, or an eternal prisoner, however, this does not force you to return all the way to the start, you can just backtrack to the previous crossroad and make a different choice.
Con: If you are looking for steamy content, I haven't come across anything beyond a few kisses here or there.
Pro: That said, the stories have all been quite romantic and emotionally satisfying (and as I said, the Godheim Clarence story is gorgeous).
Pro: You get your own cat.
Pro: As you might be able to tell from the attached GCs, the artwork is gorgeous.

Today I'm Gonna Play: Nu: Carnival
I've always seen mobile gacha games that depict lots of female characters. I don't see much of the same for male characters, despite some games showing huge success of having them (i.e. HoyoVerse games and Fate Grand Order). I stumbled across a mention of this on a post about gachas with a male majority cast. I checked to see if it's worth it.
**TW: This is an 18+ BL game containing sexual content to the point that it's not even on the App Stores, although a censored version will be released soon for the stores. I will not be detailing the naughty bits much regardless.**
I have to say, when the content warning popped up mentioning that a scene contains adult content and that I have the option to skip it, I thought it'd be something akin to softcore for some reason. Instead, there was an entire scene with everything shown in all its glory and descriptions. I did get a laugh out of being surprised.
But admiteddly, this game does not cut corners in presentation, at all. The art style is very appealing with a diverse amount of character designs that fit various tropes, and the animation is actually spendid, both in regular and explicit scenes. Although regular animations do tend to move around with a lot of exaggeration, so this can be a turn off for some players. Maybe it's because I don't play BL or adult games much so I'm not in the know for what's the latest or what's buzzing, but I'm getting the impression that this game is a lot more underrated than expected.
The story is not too bad. At least for once I'm paying a little attention to it in a gacha game. It basically acts as an isekai where you gain the role of being a successor to a sorcerer and sex somewhat acts as an energy source. Character dynamics are nice where present, but the best part for me personally is that I like that the relationships are depicted in a healthy manner, where it's more consensual. There are also side stories in the form of events which are fun to read through.
Gameplay is surprisingly fun! It's turn-based with a front view perspective. The UI is very animated which feels like it's giving me little dopamine hits lol. Your party consists of the characters in different tiers known as rarity, and they also have roles such as debuffers, healers, strikers, etc. so there is a fair share of strategy involved. Your party also needs to be leveled up via potions, as well as increase their ranks (kind of like ascensions in Genshin Impact), and also increase certain base stats known as Potential. However at some point it does get grindy as the requirements for getting to the next levels gets higher and higher in terms of your team's power level. This is a system I loathed in another gacha game (Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis), but it's more bearable here because the game offers you other things to do instead, such as events.
As for the gacha aspects, there is a way to get the rolls you want by using a guest account and then binding when you're satisfied, so it is generous in that sense. I'm also F2P so far and I've had decent rolls in the beginning, though lately it's been awful lol. I did think about spending a bit of money, but the prices for what they ask are ridiculously high, which is one aspect I dislike about the game. You can instead gain rewards through quests such as dailies, weeklies, etc., join a guild to do quests in order to collectively earn rewards, do explorations and craft things, or buy with other currencies that don't require payment.
In the end, I'm actually playing this game religiously , but I'm also quite relaxed with it. It's a nice game to drop by and do some stuff and then hop off while you go about with your day. I do hope that the censored version can bring in more users (the intended audience, that is).
