The ending of the Hunger Games movie with Snow reluctantly crowing Katniss a winner and brushing aside her hair only to see a mockingjay pin is so fucking funny after reading tbosas and knowing exactly who and what is haunting him at this moment and Katniss explains “it’s from my District” yeah lmao he knows babe he’s been
They were the first things he could never control and they’ve absolutely haunted him to think about ever since

This mockingjay has lost her song (got a sore throat which means I can’t go around my house singing for a few days :( ) but Burdock Everdeen hasn’t! I had to draw these two together, and I’m not sure I pulled off my idea but it’s good enough! So here’s little Katniss with her dad, I wonder what they’re singing?

oh god my heart.... Cellbit walking up to Bad and thanking him and saying they did it together... I don't know how in character it was... but
"It was good fighting by your side again"
"like old times"
"... and watch out because I'm gonna kill you next time"
"Alright, we'll see!!!"
"*fond laugh*"
YOU GUYS I-

q!Bad: “Ideally if I took the blame for killing those workers, that could actually benefit in the long run. ideally I want Cellbit to leave the workers alone, and get the blame for it. I need Cellbit at tip top mental capacity, and right now he’s just not there. He’s an old friend as well so I need to help him.”
“He was sorta my responsibility, all those years ago… I feel like helping him out is my duty at this point.”
“He’s crazy and hiding, just like in the hunger games. he was always really good at that, it’s nice to see that he hasn’t lost his touch.”
“I never wanted him to be in that situation. But I wanted him to have the skills he needed to survive. I was only there to watch over him and others which is… it’s kinda disappointing to see what has happened... *sigh* Cellbit, Cellbit…. what to do?” :(
some quotes from yesterday’s q!bad stream. ough he is so prepared to self sacrifice for q!cellbit, they’re so…
def watch the full monologue starting at 2:43:47 in the vod if you haven’t. some big insight on the character’s plans, feelings, some of the closest we’ve seen into his mind thus far (despite him continuing to hide a lot of stuff)

WAIT PEOPLE ENJOY QSMP AGERE CONTENT??
bro if i had known... IF I HAD KNOWN..... anyway hey hi have some q!cellbit regression headcanons :) what do you mean it's obvious i've thought about this excessively nuh uh no way i would never (lie.)
➤ what is age regression?
★ cellbit has no idea that he regresses. he just thinks its him being overly tired and stressed and maybe he just needs a nap? and - uh, is bad okay? why is he looking at him so oddly?
★ when he's regressed, cellbit behaves uncannily like his younger self - minus the violence. naturally, as a result, bad picks up on it before anyone else, and can't help but baby cellbit. just a little bit. pulling him on a few adventures, teasingly offering to carry cellbit around when he complains that he's tired, walking him home afterwards - you know, little things!
including a cheerful "good work today, cellbit!" as bad rubs his head, and cellbit bunts into it with a happy prrp! and then immediately pauses in disbelief at himself while bad giggles fondly, reminded of simpler times.
★ bad has to tell roier what cellbit's regression is, but once he understands it, roier introduces it playfully. teasing pet names, "let me do this for you, gatinho <3" lovingly, until cellbit finds himself comfortably allowing roier to do things for him and fussing over him and showering him in affection whenever he feels soft and tired and like his body is too big for him.
★ typically, cellbit is a sleepy regressor. sometimes he gets playful, rowdy, wanting to do something fun, but he's easily distracted with card games or being encouraged to work on his ttrpg.
★ roier likes calling him "gatito" when he's regressed. "little kitty." cellbit thinks its embarrassing and gets flustered over it. (he likes it)
★ pac and mike are familiar with regression, but didn't realize that cellbit does it at first. but once pac realizes, he begs mike to give it a try, just trust him on this, and suddenly they're dragging cellbit on adventures around their factory, and at some point ;
★ pac realizes that cellbit will chase laser pointers directly into walls with a startled meow when regressed, and laughs himself into tears of delight about it while cellbit gives him a sad, confused look, rubbing his now-sore head from where he slammed into the wall.
★ "cebe, you can't drink coffee all day! especially not when you're little!" "but guapito... :(" complete with the biggest saddest wettest puppy eyes a catboy could possibly muster. roier is a strong, strong man for forcing cellbit to drink water instead.
★ chews on his clothes. on his hands. on his mug. on his pencils. he'd probably chew on his shield if he could. dear lord someone get this little one a very very durable teething toy. he needs it.
★ oh you pick him up?? you pick him up??? sleepy!! sleepy cat be upon ye!! (falls asleep almost instantly upon being scooped up into someone's arms. always. without fail. every time.)
★ will laugh himself to incoherence playfighting with anyone who lets him. his favorite to playfight with is bad, who is strong enough and tall enough (and familiar enough with him) that he can get flung around like a ragdoll but never get hurt. he finds it delightful.
★ clingy clingy kitty. constantly hanging off roier's arm or wearing his clothes or carrying something that reminds himself of his husband. would carry richas around the whole day if he could. clings to bad's cloak and follows him like a personal shadow. scrambles excitedly to follow after pac and mike when they leave to go somewhere.
★ messes up his and roier's bed to make a big nest at the end of the day so he can roll around and make the bed and blankets smell like him, before grabbing roier and dragging him into the nest for snuggles, purring so loud he can't hear his own thoughts, and dozing off draped over his husband's chest.

I have been pondering Bad and Cellbit's past for a while and the varied ways in which they both perceive it. Bad's immortality and experience of witnessing traumatic event after traumatic even unfortunately renders him somewhat well-adjusted with these emotions. Not saying he is incapable of experiencing regret. It's just that after everything he has been through, he has had millenniums to sit with not just the consequence but also the effects, the reparations ,the surrounded grief of not just him but also the other mortals that had been affected .
On the other hand, what Cellbit is going through now Bad probably has already been there centuries ago. It's just constant exposure and survival through so many traumatic situations has now made Bad somewhat neutral to them. That's why him losing the eggs is such a big deal because Bad hasn't had familial connections in god knows how long. Maybe apart from Foolish Bad has never had a constant in his life and he had brought himself to be okay with that. But now that he is experiencing such a huge loss he has no clue how to deal with it and that is why he is spiraling.
Cellbit being a mortal provides a lot of reason to the regret regarding his past that he had been feeling. Killing and destruction was the only language he spoke but he learnt to separate that part of himself once Roier and Richarlyson entered his life proving to be his anchor. But now with Richarlyson gone and him being smacked with the revelation of a life he could have had, everything has becoming a confusing mess of what ifs and what could have beens. Hence, it makes sense that Cellbit has regressed to a way of life he holds familiarity with and which provides him the most control he has had in years and its great to know he has a friend a past mentor aiding his steps all along his journey.

Noticed a quote whilst re-reading the first THG book. When Katniss is in the hovercraft on the way to the arena, she talks about the view and how the birds see it all the time, “Only they’re free and safe” (THG 174). Free and safe. Just like Lucy Gray.

my other post got too long... oops. um. clears my throat. ehe?
here's a little list of regressor!cellbit & cg!bbh (qsmp characters only) scenarios that i am. totally normal about. you believe me. d. dont worry about it. um. anywayyyy<3
content warnings: self destructive / harmful stims during meltdowns, HEAVILY implied villainization trauma, things related to the fact that cellbit just kind of had a horrific childhood, and honestly just some angsty content involving vent regression :(
Tumblr media
★ sometimes, when he can't handle what's happening, cellbit shoves himself in a dark, quiet, cramped corner, and hisses and lashes out at anyone that gets too close. when that happens, bad will quietly sit nearby and organize his backpacks and tend to his weapons, humming the old songs he used to sing cellbit to sleep with, until cellbit comes out of hiding. and when he does, bad is always there to hold him and wipe his tears away.
("there you are cellbit... here, wanna sit on my lap? yeah, there you go. okay. look at me? are you looking?" "mhm," "okay. good. now we're gonna take a deeeeep breath... and let it out.... very good, cellbit. okay. do you wanna tell me what scared you?" "n-no, i'm sorry, i-" "hey, hey, it's okay! you don't have to tell me. do you wanna sit here and watch me finish sharpening my scythe?" "is- is that okay?" "of course it is, you little ragamuffin. here, get cozy.")
★ but if cellbit is so overwhelmed his panicked response is to hit himself or punch the walls or ground around him or bite his lip so hard he tastes blood, bad pulls him onto his lap, and wrestles cellbit's hands away from himself, because if cellbit is going to hit or bite or hurt someone, bad will not let it be himself.
he holds cellbit in his arms and rocks him side to side, until cellbit's done crying and screaming and thrashing and biting and sobbing, and curls up into bad's chest, whimpering and hiccuping, tired out and nervous system starting to settle back down into regulation.
("all done, little ragamuffin?" "'m sorry, i didn't - i don't - i hurt you, i-" "shh, it's okay, i'm not angry, okay? do you wanna help me clean up anything that did real damage? would that make you feel better?" "won't - won't i jus' hurt you more? i don't- i don't wanna hurt you, i-" "cellbit, cellbit. listen to me. you won't ever hurt me bad enough to make me leave your side. i promise. okay?")
★ when regressed, cellbit is terrified of being a bad person, a bad kid, a monster. no child wants to be evil, and cellbit's regression is one of the few times where what he's done in the past truly haunts him. as a result, he often will repeatedly check with bad to make sure that he's still good, right? he's not bad? he's okay? he's not a monster? he's not gonna hurt anyone, right? bad will make sure he won't? he's good, isn't he? is he gonna be okay?
(he is. bad reminds him this over and over with endless patience, despite how much it hurts his heart that he has to reassure cellbit of this so frequently, that he's good, he's kind, he's lovable and he is loved. he's okay. it's okay. he's still good. he's still good. he'll always be good, in bad's eyes. he's doing so well, bad is so proud of him. it's gonna be okay. that you're gonna be okay, cellbit. you're not a monster, i promise.)
★ every time, as soon as cellbit escapes his regression, it's like a switch is flicked, and he pretends nothing happened at all. when bad finally gets cellbit to talk about their interactions involving cellbit's regression, cellbit breaks down and confesses he doesn't understand what it is or why it happens and he feels bad and he's sorry and he doesn't mean to and he's sorry and--
it's a learning moment for both of them. for bad, it's a realization of how much cellbit shames and guilts himself to for turning to bad, his old mentor, someone he's meant to trust (isn't he?) for help, and how deeply his fears of letting bad down runs. for cellbit, it's a learning moment when bad sits him down and teaches him terminology, the hows, the whys, explains why he's been helping, and apologizes genuinely, because he thought cellbit knew what it was.
...things start working a lot smoother between the two of them, after that.
for example, cellbit actually goes to bad directly for help the next time he regresses. :)

Preparing for "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes"
I'm going to talk about the Hunger Games series some more because I'm in a hyperfixation.
If you saw the movies and/or read the books awhile ago, you might need a bit of a refresher before seeing The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (in theaters November 17!).
BALLAD is set 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games. It is takes place around the 10th Annual Hunger Games and Katniss competes in the 74th Hunger Games.
So really you just have to remember that Panem is a the country and they have Hunger Games. That's pretty much it. Ballad deals with how the Hunger Games themselves went from being a plain punishment to a spectacle that is still a punishment. You'll see.
There are only two characters from the first movie series in the prequel, as far as I know.
The first is this jerk:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coriolanus Snow was originally played by Donald Sutherland and will now be portrayed as a teenager by Tom Blyth.
The other is a character you might not remember.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tigris Snow appeared VERY briefly in the movie Mockingjay Part 2 (and the book Mockingjay). She was played by Eugenie Bondurant. We learn she was a stylist for the Hunger Games. Her heavily tatooed and feline appearance surprises Katniss. The director Cressida approaches her, saying she was part of Plutarch Heavensbee's underground. Tigris smiles when Katniss says she's going to kill President Snow and shelters Katniss's squad.
So it was a bit of a shock when Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes the book came out and revealed that Tigris is Coriolanus' cousin, who practically raised him because his mother died in childbirth.
In Ballad, Tigris is a cinnamon roll too pure for this world played by Hunter Schafer of Euphoria. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that we do not know what happened to her in between the two time periods. (Suzanne, if you are reading this, we need a Tigris novel. Or at leastanother novel in which she appears.)
I'd like to know if Tigris did her body modifications because she wanted to (I hope) or if it was to disguise her appearance (but she kind of draws attention to herself?) or maybe to cover up some scars? I'm worried about her. (Anyone got theories?)
Family Members
We do see some characters that are related to characters that will appear in the main trilogy.
Lucky Flickerman, played by Jason Schwartzman, is related to Cesar Flickerman, played by Stanley Tucci. Both are TV presenters that are involved with the production of the Hunger Games.
Snow is also classmates with members of the Crane and Heavensbee families. Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) was the Gamemaker with the funny beard in the first movie. And Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) was a key figure in the revolution that eventually overthrows Snow in Mockingjay Part 2.
TLDR, the elite families of the Capitol are insular. They all go to the same school and live in the same area. Outsiders are not welcome. Especially outsiders from the Districts.
Other Connections
SONGS
Ballad will also follow a female tribute from District 12. For the 10th Hunger Games that is Lucy Gray Baird, played by Rachel Zegler. Lucy Gray is very different from Katniss. She is a singer and performer, not a hunter. Her family is a group of other children that were once part of a traveling singing troupe called "the Covey". (They are now kind of stuck in 12 since the Rebellion.)
The song "The Hanging Tree" that Katniss sings in Mockingjay Part 1 is a part of Ballad. We learn that Lucy Gray wrote that song. And it is implied that the littlest member of the Covey, Maude Ivory, is related to Katniss' father. She is probably his mother or grandmother, which explains how Katniss knows the song more than 60 years later. (This theory has not been confirmed by Suzanne Collins but makes the most sense.)
Keep your eye on this little one.
BIRDS
Also you may wish to refamiliarize yourself with the fictious creature called the Mockingjay. The book Ballad features the bird itself, whereas the movies mostly focused on it as a symbol of the revolution (Katniss).
But mockingjays are hybrid birds created when the Capitol's genetically engineered jabberjays (these were seen in the arena in Catching Fire torturing Finnick and Katniss with their lifelike screams) mated with mockingbirds and a new species came about. Thereafter they were associated with the rebellion against the Capitol as a symbol. Katniss says they were something of a "slap in the face" to the Capitol--a sign they didn't actually have total control.
This symbolism will be furthered when Katniss herself wears a mockingjay pin into the arena and Rue teaches her how to use them to signal to each other. And then it becomes a whole thing where Katniss "is" the Mockingjay and that's the title of the third book/third and fourth movies.
