so a quick blurb for this:

wwx was on the way somewhere on his bike and accidentally locked eyes with lwj and lwj was instantly smitten. lwj immediately called his brother and revealed he's definitely not ace (he felt nothing for anyone before this so he was shocked) he's not sure why at all but really wants to see him again.

wwx didn't have time to stop so he went on, but he comes back through there sometimes hoping he sees him again (so does lwj)

They missed each other a bunch of times, but eventually they randomly met again, doing something completely normal like grocery shopping! They hit it off immediately and finally get into proper contact, and one day... 😳 💖 👻🐇 they start dating!

I'm in love with a new brush so I started doodling and then created modern ghost/bunny (from ghost of mine) kjhgsdfg- so have my sketch ! really like how I drew wwx. the other stuff was on the fly so...ignore their haircuts I'm iffy abt em XD I love wwx here tho the mid-length suits him.

anyway hi sorry I've been quiet I've been working on JC & Jiang disciple design stuff (as well as writing for TWPT of course!!) so I've been occupied! I'm still occupied of course, but I was feeling rly tired today so I just started doodling and I got here.

Modern AU wei wuxian ❤️

mdzs modern au where song lan is an astronomy nerd who loves the stars and moon, and where xiao xingchen is visually impaired so he will never be able to see the beauty of the thing song lan loves but listens intently to everything he says anyway

[shijieswife]

shijie who finds comfort in the kitchen, in the rocking motion of a knife and sizzling of a pan. who finds something she loves, something that fills her head.

shijie, who teaches her didis how to cook, something she had to learn from videos and their cooks, something beneath them. who cooks with a-ying, with a-cheng supervising in the background, peeling garlic. who gives her a-die food that he always eats, no matter how experimental or bad, with a smile.

shijie, who has a handwritten recipe book, splattered with batter and flour, running ink, filled with different cakes and sweets. who lets a-cheng chose which one that her and a-ying make. who watches in delight as muqin smiles softly at her as she eats her sweets, only fondly telling her she shouldnt be slaving away in the kitchen all day, this time.

shijie, who secretly grows tired of the beratements and mocking. shijie, who grows forlorn over the cookies she baked for jin zixuan thrown in the trash, in front of her, in front of everyone. who stops cooking for others out of love, now out of duty. shijie, who only finds peace in the kitchen, now, when a-ying sees her, truly, and guides her gently away from the fried rice that a-cheng wanted. from the soup her a-die loves, after a fight with muqin. muqins favourite cake, an appeasement. and finishes them, as she watches and supervises.

shijie, who, after moving half a country away for school, relearns her love for cooking. who learns to do things for herself - she makes her favourite soup. she cuts her hair to the length she'a always wanted, dyes it. who secretly enrolls in a culinary school. who stops talking to her muqin and lets a-ying stay in her apartment.

shijie, who bumps into jin zixuan. shijie, who starts a genuine friendship with the matured version of a boy she moved on from. shijie, who gets a poorly made cookies shoved at her, before jin zixuan runs away with a red face. who relearns her love language of gifts with cooking, as she makes her boyfriend bread he can take home for his apartment.

shijie, who now teaches her son and nephew how to make a-yings favourite soup for his birthday, something she has never told another soul a part from her didis, not even her husband or brother in law. ("its a family secret, lingling, yuanyuan" she whispers, finger to her smiling lips, as two out of five of her favourite boys stifle their giggles with their hands.)

Modern MDZS au where WWX gets in a debate with college professor LQR about LGBTQA+ stuff, probably bc WWX is “corrupting” LWJ with the gay agenda. And stealing all of LWJ’s turtlenecks, for some odd reason! The boy clearly can’t take care of his own clothes, they’re all tattered and his hair is a birds nest.

Anyways, LWR is going on about how the homos are lecherous filth that have fallen to temptation or smth while covering up their transgressions by naming themselves odd things. Really, LQR asks, “what even is a pan-sexual?” (Or some other such thing that shows he doesn’t actually know anything anout being queer)

“Oh, you don’t know?” WWX asks, eyes wide and innocent and CLEARLY up to Some Shit. “Professor Lan, Professor Lan, Professor ‘show your sources do your research’ LAN. Do you not know what we’re debating about?”

LQR huffs and starts saying something about family values and continuing on bloodlines, but WWX is grinning like the cat that caught the canary.

“Professor, have you ever actually researched this? Or are you just wasting my time?” (An actual LQR quote from earlier in the semester)

LQR puffs up, and he’s all “of course I haven’t-“

“Well then, Sir,” WWX interrupts, manic joy written all over his expression, “may I just say that you have the audacity of a white man insisting that Mandarin is just a type of orange.”

The bell rings before LQR can get a word in, and WWX grabs his bag and books it to the door.

“I’ll send you some reading, Professor Lan! Let’s do this again when you know what you’re talking about!”

And with that he’s gone.

Now, WWX is only a little bit of a hypocrite, bc he definitely thought he was straight and only just managed his Revelation of “oh heck Lan Zhan is so pretty he turned me gay?” *research montage bc he actually has resources (and NHS definitely helped.) “Oh maybe girls are just pretty and I’m demisexual.”

However, the fact that he only JUST did this, means his ADHD self still has all the tabs open. And, like, he did say he’d send stuff, and this is Lan Zhan’s uncle. So, he compiles a helpful list of sites and articles, includes a link to a place where you can ask questions to the Queer Council, and sends it off.

LQR is initially going to ignore it, but then his scholar brain gets the better of him. WWX had made a point, he was woefully unprepared, and so with the intention of finding points to throw in that little brat’s face, he braces himself for horrible outlandish untraditional family-breaking nastiness, plus whatever else WWX might have put in there (ancestors if that horrid boy sent him PORN he’ll have him expelled) and opens the links.

He finds a bunch of actual helpful websites.

Definitions for all the names, labels, flags. Helpful tips for understanding yourself. Pictures of couples holding hands, smiling happily.

“Love isn’t just for procreation.”

Resources for kids who’s parents kicked them out. Survival tips. Unsafe areas.

And, because I’m personally a big fan of Demisexual WWX, a whole bunch of websites on the Asexual spectrum. You know, where people say, “oh yeah, apparently other people actually DO feel that urge to have sex with people. The songs aren’t making stuff up y’all. We’re just built different.”

LQR: nani tf?

Thus begins a confused deep dive into asexuality, what it means, allosexuals and all that jazz. LQR actually does end up asking a question on one of the sites, something like:

“I always believed that people who allowed themselves to be lustful and fall into bed with others were simply unrestrained. Is it true that some people feel an actual need for this? I have felt attraction for a woman before, but I never felt the need that some popular media attests to.”

There’s a bunch of replies, but one sticks out to LQR:

“Gonna be crude for a sec, excuse me- did you actually want to bang her? Or were you friends and heteronormative society insisted that boys and girls gotta want to fuck?”

LQR, who as a young man looked at CSSR and thought “If I have to marry, I wouldn’t mind her”: 🤯🤯🤯

Modern WWX in his Burial Mounds era (completely broke) definitely smokes cigarette butts off the ground.

One time he found an entire pack someone had dropped and cried tears of joy. He then wandered around until he found someone willing to trade half the pack for coffee that didn't taste like tar. He got one for Wen Qing also to appease her wrath.

(When she'd found out about him smoking the butts, she was so livid she couldn't even scold him, only grab him by the shoulders and shake him for several minutes.)

This one cannot decide if they like Modern AU Lan Wangji to have long or short hair more…

(Obviously if it what just a matter of my preference for appearance it would be long hair because swoon but I digress)

Like on one hand hair is sensory(and maintenance) hell, so just chop it all off and make your life easier…

But on the other hand haircuts are no fun either(I personally don’t have sensory issues with getting haircuts but I imagine LWJ might), AND on top of that part you have to adjust to the change every time.

I just can’t decide which I feel fits his character better :(

(I do instinctively however lean toward long hair just because that’s what I’m used to + find to look better though :p)

But Wei Wuxian definitely has some sort of mullet(but like one of the not ugly ones), which he usually hasn’t had cut in ages, and is always finding either the most creative or crazy-looking ways to tie it up. imo.

fun lil prompt thing for October cuz I am sick™ for Halloween/October I love it so much

MODERN MDZS (I might expand on this one for day 12 - Familiarity)

Wei Ying has a different mug for every day of October. Cheesy things like "Witch Please", "Coffee, Scream & Sugar", etc. After wangxian have breakfast together in the morning and they have their coffee, wwx watches blissfully as his husband washes their dishes and winks at lwj if he looks up at him.

This usually ends up in extra everyday™ before lwj has to go to work, but wwx doesn't mind, he simply cuddles up next to the fireplace like a cat with a bundle of blankets for a few more hours, and maybe paints something after lunch.

lwj also has to deal with spontaneous Halloween décor showing up around the house, and nearly has a heart attack walking into his room seeing wwx asleep beside a skeleton in the bed (he was probably waiting to spook him but fell asleep in the process)
