My mom is a bad ass. She’s been through more surgeries, medical anomalies, broken bones, experimental treatments etc than everyone I know combined. She’s a damn rockstar, tough and a true fighter!! My mom made these fantastic gluten free & vegan waffles and they were to die for! She uses a blend of dark and light buckwheat flour that adds so much flavour! They were fluffy but crispy on the outside and so tasty topped with fresh berries and maple syrup! Definitely considering getting my own waffle maker after having these! As a dictionary version of a Romantic...

I could say that I have three goddesses for moms.

One is Athena.

One is Aphrodite.

One is Hestia.

My biological mom is Athena. She gave me knowledge and faith in intelligence. She made me feel invincible as long as I had a pen, a piece of paper, a plan, and the whole world to learn.

My loco-parentis, legal guardian for 12 years and more, is Hestia. She is the mom that gives it her all when it comes to her home and her family. She’s the hearth and the home. Where she goes, the hearth and home follow. She provides me with a warmth so intense that she lights the fire to see that I complete myself and I am enough.

My adoptive mother, the mother I’ve had for four years and more, is Aphrodite. She provides beauty to everything living. She saw the beauty in my chaos. She teaches me that it is possible to love myself. She makes it so easy for me to embrace my highs and lows, my daily experiences, she helps me embrace even the dullest of moments in life and turns it into something unique or noteworthy-like there’s always a giant present in the smallest of things.

Without them, I’m not me.

True love is my mom going out of her way to be kind and friendly to young queer kids. She actively tries to start conversations. She has befriended the beautiful trans boy at our coffee shop all without my knowledge. Because she hopes people show my wife and I kindness out in the world. She talks, with pride, about me being queer. I could not be more proud of this woman or even begin to express my love properly.

I swear to god this woman is my role model. I know everyone thinks and says this but my mother is the best mom in the world. She and my dad have always been my loudest supporters, they gave me the most incredible sister I could ever ask for and she has been there for me through thick and thin. To my best friend, my biggest fan, and first true love. When I moved out, I thought I had conquered the world. When I had to move back home, I felt like I had failed, like I had to start from scratch. But this woman taught me how to start over again, how to rise, strengthen, and grow from the obstacles we have to overcome. How to take what life has given you, and embrace it. My mom always told me that she wishes she had the relationship I have with her with her mom because they weren't as close as we are but while my mom wishes that, my wish is for EVERYONE to have the relationship they have with their mom, be like the relationship that I have with mine. Having her in my life has given me so much strength, love, and nourishing love that a person needs to blossom beautifully. It has given me compassion, and insurance. It has given me faith, and motivation. I have never seen a person give themselves to the world, without asking for anything in return. My mom is the kind of woman that if she sees a homeless man in a corner, she'll go the next time with water bottles in her car, and bread, just for the next time see sees him. She's the type of person that's always great to talk to, and always understand what you're talking about. She's someone who sees a penny, and gets excited and that's the highlight of her day. "I FOUND A PENNY TODAY" She will say to me, and all of my brothers, but that's the beauty of it. She is all of that and more. I remember that when I was going to Cosmetology school, I would always forget to pack my fork in my lunch box, and I would have to warm up my lunch and go across the school to get a fork at the gas station. When I moved back home, I never had to get another fork at the gas station because my mom never forgot to pack my lunch and made sure I had a fork.
