deep dive into design choices under the cut!
i went into this design imagining him as the gold standard of tumblr sexymen, and then accidentally made him gnc as fuck and now he’s my gender. oops lol
- i knew i wanted to make his vest and tie patterned, bc he strikes me as someone who’d wear garish but somehow still classy (& probably also clashing) patterns. i also decided to make each piece correspond with arthur and john—the vest has the same brown and gold color scheme as arthur with an eye motif (for arthur’s blindness but also kayne’s sort of omniscient vibe). the tie has the same color scheme as my john (more or less exactly colorpicked) with a marigold pattern, both for the nickname and for its flower language—among other things, marigold symbolizes the sun, and also death. i had a ton of fun making the symbolism work for both boys but also fit with kayne’s vibe c:
(also, if i ever animate kayne, i imagine the patterns do that thing where the patterns don’t move with him but rather look like they’re a part of the background, if that makes sense; heightening his sort of uncanny otherworldly vibe)
- i purposefully wanted to make kayne look a little uncanny and inhuman! sharp stylized teeth (he’s always got a toof sticking out), forked tongue, and long pointy ears. also this bitch’s anatomy makes no sense & can and will change whenever! generally his legs are very long and his waist very small (& grabbable. grab if you dare), but as seen in the profile shot with his mouth, he’s always just kinda. off.
- his eyes are kind of slanted & mono-lidded, and his irises are more square shaped than circular. his pupils are upside down crosses. also he has the most luscious lashes imaginable
- he carries a cane around just for the aesthetic. it is nonfunctional other than self-referential jokes and murder
- face is generally made up of long & very sharp shapes. i was a little worried about his head shape being too similar to arthur’s, since his is also long with strong cheekbones, but i made kayne’s overall more sharp and severe. also pointy nose
small detail lightning round:
- he has moles! trust me he told me himself
- tails on his suit, kinda tattered and ragged looking; sort of mirrors the right hair strand
- dramatic arched eyebrows w a slutty eyebrow slit

I have a few questions about Francis mono!
1. Why is he exactly aggressive?
2. What happened to his eye that went missing?
3. How different is mono from other dobbles?
4. Does he have abilities that could benefit him or is his only ability is shapeshifting? (Ifykwim)
5. Does he have a backstory?
6. What's his favourite food? (Besides humans if so?)
7. Could I give him a hug without dying?
8. How rarely is he passive?
9. I didn't understand something on the information you have given us about mono, is he only aggressive to dobbles that look like Francis or is he aggressive to everyone?
HI HIIIIIIII!!! !! !!! !!! I’m super happy to see someone curious about my dear Francine!! OKAY SO
When he was made, he was made with him being a higher level doppelgänger in mind, but with that comes higher aggression, and more territorial instincts. His territorial instincts came with being possessive over Francis’s looks, and tearing them apart/making doppelgänger change what they look like by force if necessary if they just so happen to look like our dear Francie
I like to think he lost it In a turf battle with a large group of doppels, one of them had to have had tentacles, specifically with razor sharp ends— and yeah you can see where this is going.
Very. He was made with higher intelligence, higher strength, heightened senses, and the ability to be a near perfect doppelgänger, but never quite, as unfortunate for him as that is.
I don’t think so, aside from the other things about him I’ve mentioned above!! And I don’t think he’s the type to have tentacles either. But uh. He’s got barbs. So be careful with that.
Not that I can think of at the moment! Unless you count what I’ve said already as a backstory hehe
I like to think he enjoys a good chocolate with earl grey tea
depends on if he thinks you’re a threat to him or not, but he’ll definitely crack a few bones if he hugs you.
He is almost always passively aggresive towards everyone, and extremely aggresive to those who bear Francis’s skin. But he can be chill if he thinks you pose no real threat, if not very condescending.
He will attack other doppelgängers if he sees them as a threat, but overall, it’s like 10/90 the ratio of regular doppelgängers being attacked versus Francis doppelgängers being attacked by him.
Thank you so much for your questions!! This really means a lot to me !! :)c

What is an Oni? 🧟♀️

At this point I believe we all know the history of Demon Slayer. Kamado Tanjiro, the eldest son of a charcoal seller that decided to enter the Demon Slayer cops to find a way to turn his sister, Nezuko, back to human, after Muzan turned her into an Oni after killing the rest of their family. But what exactly is an Oni? “After the death of Izanami, the female creator of Japan, Izanagi, her husband, and male counterpart, misses her so much that he goes to the nether land to retrieve her. But Izanami says that she has already eaten the food from that realm, implying that it would be difficult for her to return easily to this one. The food produced in the ither world has the power to make one stay in that world, so she tell him to wait and not look. (…) When Izanagi looks at Izanami, however, she is ugly, with maggots squirming and eight thunder deities growing around her entire body. Izanami is furious, probably because he broke the promise/taboo and looked at her changed appearance. Instead of bemoaning her fate and going back to the nether land quietly, she attacks him saying that he caused her undying shame.” - Reider,2010; When we think of an Oni, right know the image of a girl with hair half black half orange, pink eyes in a box with the personality of a cat comes to mind (or Michael Jackson, u choose), even for Japanese people. But it was not always like this. Sometime before 2016 (aka the release of the manga), when we said Oni the image of a “humanoid creature, with horns and fangs and clod in only a plea loincloth”, a terrifying wicked creature was probably the main image. I mean it is not that difference, but Oni were not always cute. Onis are part of the Yokai culture, a concept that was more or less always present in Japanese minds. During the Heian period [c.794-794] [Is it a coincidence that Muzan was turned into an Oni exactly during the Heian times? I don't think so] were going to find a lot of Oni themes in literature. In terms of depictions of said demons, we see them coming to life mainly during the Muromachi period [c.1338-1578], were emakimono [horizontal illustration handscroll] started to appear, followed by encyclopaedias during the Edo Period. Oni’s are probably the product of Japanese people’s fear of the natural disasters that were extremely common in the Japanese territory, for instance, lighting and thunder are strongly associated with then (what would explain a lotttttt, like I’m looking at you Kaigaku). Some even say that if kami aren’t worshiped enough, they will become Oni. The Kami were always related to the yang and the Oni to the yin [meaning the Kami related to the world of living and the Oni to the world of death]. “(…) their souls have nowhere to go and nobody worships them. So they linger in the air and cause various problems…” - Reider,2010; If one truly takes the time to think, there are some Kami that aren't that different from the mono [evil spirits], most of the time, the same characteristic would apply to both entities in terms of power, both were feared, but only one was truly respected. Also, there the theory that says that Oni where the product of the Humans that ended up on one of the Buddhist levels of hell, where Emma-O would turn them into horrifying servants. Other theory would say that a Human would turn into an Oni by committing horrible crimes.

Needless to say, there are various depictions of Oni, they take different shapes depending on which belief we are looking at them either it being the Buddhist cosmology, Onmyodo [Ying yang beliefs], Chinese literature or Japanese imagination. Almost of the size of humans, sometimes taller. With sharp nails, horns, tusks. Big mouths, various eyes. Red or blue skin. Some say they can fly. Some say they have some animal parts. Some also say that a woman can also become n Oni when she is overcome with jealousy or grief. (Which explains the myth Izanami, and that man were always scared of woman, but funny enough the popular image of oni is normally male) Some eat children. Some eat the dead. Some eat souls. They wear loincloths made of the skin of great beasts. What all of this have in common is that they are all scary things. One of the biggest characteristics of the Oni is their huge desire for human flesh. It is said that they can eat a human in one gulp. Their transformative power, they can transform their grotesque forms into handsome man or woman allowing the victim to grown interest in them. Oni would have an extreme strength, some of them being talented sorcerers. Also, people that lived far away from the emperor, or had different customs, would be considered an Oni. People that looked different or thought differently from the normal Japanese were called Oni, this was especially common during the imperialism times. Emotions like anger, jealousy, infidelity, and lust were emotions that one would connect to Oni. But the question of “What are Oni” is actually a really tough question, since we can find a lot of variations of Oni in this huge catalogue. “[…] monstrous and cruel Oni, who eat the flesh of corpses, Oni who devour the living, Oni who murder, Oni who trick people, Oni who cause famine, sickness or plague; and there are humorous and charming Oni, Oni unthreatening they hardly seem Oni at all, totally defeated Oni, pity deducing Oni, etc” - Komatsu,2017; in fact this goes well with the catalogue of Oni characters that we have in the anime, the Upper-moons inclusive.

The ambiguity of the concept of an Oni is something that was adapted in different times in history, but without fully losing indigenous beliefs against the foreign concepts. But some scholars say that what we associate to Oni today was not what they always were. The word simply means something big, and the Oni were a creature that did not show himself except for gathering of spirits were enormous forms were perceived, an invisible spirit. The most primitive form of Oni is said to be the spirits of the ancestors of the village. Oni was an umbrella term for all monsters. But from simple ancestors they would develop into something that the people feared. Yomotsukome [The soldiers that defended Izanami in the myth] are said to be the precursors of the current Onis. In Edo period an one would be a dark enigmatic force that would threaten all the classes. Even tho Oni themes were not discussed in the courts anymore, they would still linger on their personal lives, translated in the literal, visual and performing arts. For medieval Japanese people, Oni were real, they were always lucking somewhere, especially in people’s minds. They were real entities with real substantial bodies, that affected the lives of Japanese people. If they needed to make a day’s long trip, they would carefully plan the trip to never be on the road during the night. But the powerful image of the Oni gradually start to fall. Oni frequented both the urban and rural areas, always making trouble, causing fear. With the mass printing of books that had Oni histories and illustrations this once terrifying beings became an entertainment in the urban areas. Through the hands of the artists, Oni started to be transformed in different kinds of beings. In the Edo times, people were more scared of the samurai than Oni themself, these warriors were a living threat with their ritual, privileges and two swords. For urban residents, Oni’s were creatures of art and literature that flourished in nostalgia and futuristic imaginations. Oni stories started to have sex and violence on their stories and started to be told from their point of view in a kind of victimise way. "If one accepts the tenet that Oni impact the physical everyday lives of people in the culture from which they emerge, then it is relatively easy to make sense of the Oni’s functions within and influences upon the political events that drive Japanese history" - Reider, 2010;

Ans: Edamame consumption is not restricted, but moderation is recommended. It is generally accepted as healthy to eat a serving (about 1/2 to 1 cup) several times a week.
2. How to eat edamame in the pot?
Ans: It is easy and fun to eat edamame straight out of the pot. First, grab an edamame pod with your fingers. To release the beans into your mouth, place one end of the pod in your mouth and bite or gently squeeze the other end.
Put away the empty pod in a different plate or bowl. Continue until you have had the right amount, and remember to enjoy the delicious flavor.
3. Is it good to eat edamame everyday?
Ans: Yes, Edamame's rich nutritional profile makes it a good choice to include in your daily diet. A wonderful source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and plant-based protein is the benefits of edamame.
4. What's the difference between soybeans and edamame?
Ans: Edamame, young green soybeans harvested before they reach full maturity, are frequently consumed right out of the pod.
When soybeans reach maturity, they are usually processed to make soy-based goods like soy milk or tofu. Their developmental stage and mode of consumption account for the majority of the differences.
5. Is edamame better than broccoli?
Ans: Broccoli and edamame both have beneficial nutritional histories, but they are not the same. Broccoli provides important vitamins and minerals, while edamame beans health benefits is a great source of plant-based protein and fiber. Since both can be included in a nutritious and well-rounded diet, the decision between them comes down to personal dietary requirements.

Unity - Persistent objects btw. scenes in a simple way
Problem
Unity has multiple ways to keep data or objects persistent between scene loads. E.g. DontDestroyOnLoad, Singletons, ScriptableObjects. Some are better, some are worse and they are all not ideal. But there is a really smarter path I stumbled upon during my private gaming project. Keep persistent objects in a persistent scene.
Solution
Unity has been able to handle multiple scenes at once for a long time. This is great for dynamic loading and unloading of scene parts e.g. chunks in a voxel like environment, single map-parts etc. but also for your object management. To keep your objects persistent, put them in a scene which you won't unload at runtime and is always loaded. This persistent scene is the only scene which is already loaded at game start and decides which additional scenes should be loaded and unloaded. This is possible due to the SceneManager's additive loading mode.
Example
Imagine we want to have always only one persistent scene and one map scene active in our game. Map scenes are the part we want to load and unload dynamically and containing for example a tilemap of a level.

Okay, so Dsmp/LN crossover AU
Six n Mono tend to stay in the snow (think Snowchester/Techno, Phil n Ranboo's house) to avoid conflict. RK just sticks with Tubbo, he couldn't care less where Tubbo is at the moment.
RK snarls and is just generally Disturbing and Unsettling whenever they feel anyone is a threat to Tubbo, so c!Quackity doesn't get to say much to Tubbo bc the moment he starts with his bs he's being attacked by a child.
C!Technoblade finds Six interesting. Six is fascinated by him, and tends to stick by his side, if only for protection.
Techno was a bit nervous around Six in the beginning bc she's a small child and is the most fragile-looking thing he's ever come across. But then he saw sharp teeth and they bit him, and he was like "ah. she bites. familiar territory."
Six doesn't talk a ton and as long as they're fed and somewhat occupied (they're very easy to occupy) they're a very easy kid. Techno appreciates this.
Techno isn't very bothered by Six's diet bc he figures he's in no place to judge and he could always breed villagers/provide as much food as Six needs to satiate their constant hunger.
Six tends to gnaw on their own hands/Techno's furniture when they're stressed or just generally anxious about anything. Techno isn't fond of this, so he found a chew ring for them. They wear out really quickly tho bc sharp teeth, so Technoblade just found the most durable cloth he had and let them go ham.
Six slightly frightens c!Ranboo, but no more than his own gremlin husband and plays well with Micheal so he lets it slide.
Six not giving any shits about sides and having a practically non-existent moral compass + being a Literal Child, makes it hard for people to target her. Plus, she bites, and Technoblade likes her.
Six isn't fond of cold so they tend to hide behind/have Ranboo or Techno carry them. Phil still hasn't been able to make snow boots in their size, so it helps their case.
Mono, on the other hand, variates between c!Tommy and c!Phil, so he's always on the move. Tommy and Ranboo are always around each other bc c!Wilbur, so Six tags along.
Mono likes Phil bc Fluffy Wings and Big Hat, plus Phil is nice to him :]. (Yes those are his only requirements for a friend. He knows it's sad, shut up.)
Mono eats Phil's hair when he isn't paying attention, so Phil got him a chew necklace instead.
Mono likes Tommy bc he has Good Vibes. That's it. Plus, Tommy reminds him of Six kinda, and he likes it.
Both Mono and Tommy hate/are frightened by yelling/sudden loud noises. Tommy tends to leave bc "Mono doesn't like it, you're fuckin scaring him. He won't leave if I don't."
Mono and Tommy both eat dirt together. Tommy talks, Mono listens and nods. It's a very beneficial relationship.
Six n Mono tend to wander a lot and end up just freaking. passing out in the snow, clinging to each other for body heat, and Phil found that So worrying.
He made them cloaks that are Too Big (he couldn't tailor to size Extra Tiny he isn't a miracle worker) and proper winter clothes and all so they wouldn't freeze/get sick (they got sick once at the same time bc they weren't used to the horrible cold and they were nightmares to deal with).
RK just borrows Micheal's clothes.
RK really really likes Foolish bc of his pretty builds and he's shiny, but refuses to leave Tubbo. So Tubbo just visits Foolish more often.
Foolish is really fond of both of them, so it's a win-win situation.
Six n Mono find Alivebur strange. They don't think he's a bad person, but he does bad things then feels bad about it later. They just tend to watch him curiously and be generally creepy af.
The Dsmp members know who the three of them don't like bc Six won't accept food from the person. If Six (best judge of character and notoriously the easiest to please) doesn’t like you, there's no chance the others will either.
Six is loyal to basically anyone that feeds them and doesn't hurt Mono and RK, but that's where Mono and RK come in. They do the "if you hurt my friends we don't like you" thing, and together draw up a list of people the three don't like.
The rest of the server wonders why three new kids appear and start hanging on to the people that cause the most issues. They're really worried.
Mono has the best moral compass/sense of right and wrong, but tends to ignore it in favor of whatever he feels like doing. He commits arson.
Six is rlly fascinated by Kinoko Kingdom and finds it rlly pretty, so they tend to wander around there.
RK likes fluffy n soft things.
Mono loves animals and mud and grass and is a mostly vegetarian.
Yooo I love when ppl send me headcanons!! These are all awesome - I honestly love the idea that Techno would get along w Six lol
#would techno be impressed six took down the maw by herself#me thinks yes#anyways thx for sending these hcs!! they were fun to read :D#cas answers

Page CXXI ⎯ Secrets
Awoke 5:49 ⎯ Late again.
Another promise to myself broken
The room is faded in dawn's bleaching white radiance.
Spring's heat raises from the folds of my sheets, the collar of my shirt, sweat trickles down my spine as I breath slow, shallow.
Luminated dust meets my slumber-drunk vision, floating on my breath, flickering like earth bound stars, like sparkling embers from dragon maws, burning through my dreams.
⎯ The illusion is still on my fingertips...
But slipping away like sand though a glass,
In my dreams,
our home was lit by an unseen power.
The walls unmarred by the feeds of electric lines, without outlets, the lamps glowed on golden perches like pygmy suns. I had not believed B, when he said it was the result of a tsuki-mono, a curse passed down through b l o o d l i n e s...
But when he held one of the glowing orbs in his hands and I looked into the ivory light, I saw there was nothing there to keep it alive...
At the heart of this structure, the source of it’s power.
⎯ Beneath the house, a secret .
Ecclesiastical fenestrations cast prismic light into the scaffold ribs like captive rainbows but could not penetrate the underbelly, where stone walls wept ⎯ windowless, their long alleys, narrowed like spires until they converged to a single door . . .
Behind it, truth.
B led me down, down into the quiet core where the tear drop lanterns grew dim and died in the night held hostage in our home’s roots. We groped along the walls together, blind but emboldened by the other’s company until he found it and pushed open the door.
Within ⎯ a curtain of light bleed inexplicably from the basement ceiling, like daylight piercing a forest canopy.
Resting beneath it’s glimmering veil was a long, polished b o x perched on spiraling iron legs that penetrated the concrete floor like the roots of Methuselah.
⎯ Richly veined, it’s scarlet mahogany surface was like that of the floorboards in the halls above, making the c o f f i n both familiar and as disquietingly foreign as friend that one has not seen in many years.
As I drew up to it’s side, my perspective shifted as though I was sinking imperceptibly into the ground, until my line of sight was even with the base of the smooth varnished lip.
I was suddenly small... Like a child.
I pressed my weight onto my toes and reaching out blindly, my fingers meeting the chilly facade of the closed lid.
Dust or static created a strange, phantom-velvet texture, overlaying the polished surface beneath my touch.
Then, I glided them down, d o w n
until my fingers met an indentation . . .
⎯ The edges sharp as engraved stone.
Foreboding grew as I followed the carved line, it enlarging,
e l o n g a t i n g ,
the size of it traced beneath my fingers, a trail that for an instant I thought might stretch all the way to the foot to crease down it’s throat ⎯
But then ... I felt it curve , slope .
It was an answer waiting.
What l e t t e r was cut into the wood⎯ ?
Startling awake, I opened by eyes to the shimmering sunlight that had penetrated my dreams ...
My body, hot and aching with words left unsaid,
⎯ " ... I don't want to know . . . "
⎯ 11:13
Can I even call what he is doing to me betrayal?
The desperate hammering of my heart is the same ear filling thump, coming hard against the door as I hid behind it’s brass lock ⎯ Backup’s heel; the buckling, booming rattle of his rage in the background of my agonizing desire to
just.
be.
a l o n e . . .
I suppose, I may finally have it.
This is my fault.
In my desperation to delay the end of this game we've spent half our lives playing, I lost sight of my principles. Perhaps, my escalating insincerity and his giftedness, made this ultimately inevitable.
Experience has left me few doubts of his semi-clairvoyance but only now am I considering what his precision implies...
That there is a fated nature to it all.
That I never had a chance.
It took two ego-bruising weeks, driving my exhaustion bone-deep, before I began to consider that the passion that had sustained me for nearly two decades was fading. My spirit had withered with the effort to reach it more depleting. I began to wonder, if I simply wasn’t good enough to solve this one.
Just as despair took hold of me, B's index finger came uninvited over my shoulder and pressed into the screen ⎯ creating a rippling prismatic bulls-eye over one photograph in a sea of over one-hundred-twenty.
The answer. The next fatality.
He handed it to me, without having asked.
⎯ Cooperation is forbidden; it complicates the variables and the validity of the existing hierarchy, it obscures where our loyalties truly lie...
I knew it and took it anyway.
Because I am not who I should be.
They wouldn’t be questioning him now, if I had not created a trail in retrospect, justifing my intuition .
A thread of truth could be enough to hang me.
Facing the possibility of losing all that anchors me, I am on the precipice of a terrible epiphany — choking on the question; ⎯ " Where does the person I’m trying to be end, and who I am begin ? "
I once believed that who I was could be distilled down to it’s essence, that if the parts that did not matter could be cut away;
the fingers that brace me,
the feet that carry me,
the sight that leads me --
What was left would be me , a tiny piece of the universe that had becoming miraculously and unmercifully aware of itself... And, that I could never truly lose myself.
I am beginning to doubt that.
And with a fascinated horror, I am beginning to realize that I simply don't know how to be anything other than what I have been trying to be for the last seven years... I don't think I would know who I was if everything but my life was taken from me.
`
Staring down the barrel of a derelict future, the prospect of my life coming to an abrupt end is disconcertingly comforting...
Actually, in the darkness of a loss of this depth, the alleys that pave the way to massacres are unnervingly clear ...
and I don't know if who I am beneath Alternative is above k i l l i n g y o u a l l ...
That prospect is no longer unthinkable.
I once asked a senior pathologist if the difficulty of dismembering a body was a limiting factor for suspects, to which they warned me to be careful of assumptions because almost anyone is capable of almost anything — given enough time and determination.
It is particularly poient in this moment as I contemplate how long it would take me to pick all your locks and strangle you in your sheets ...
Slip thallium into the soup, listen to you all miserably puking out your corroding insides as metallic venom slithers into your brains before they can get it o u t.
Trace the opulent halls with ignition fluid following up to your doors with you barricaded inside ... praying for smoke to coat your lungs, to smother you from the inside.
Watch B crawl out to see the carnage.
see it dawn on him that this is no accident,
see a genuine response — unadulterated by his intellect or prevarication — just raw, bleeding instinct from this animal I've called my friend, becoming at once so mortal and so equal to me, that we can end this era of our lives together in violently, intimate truth ...
Maybe you would understand, if everything you were was on the brink of utter erasure. You might find that you aren’t who you thought you were either.
The truth is, I am afraid that if I cannot have it, I can't find it within me to recognize that I owe it to my species, to civilization itself, to let B take it from me.
Not in this way.
I don't know how I thought this would ultimately end, If B would wrench victory from me or if I would wait on a tragedy to eliminate my part in all of this...
But not betrayal, not when it's my fault.
I think I was resigned to carry forward indefinitely, — losing pieces of who I thought I was to the current I've been fighting against, believing that if I only kept going, and never stopped, I might outrun regret and what could have been.
Maybe I believed I would rekindle faith again — in myself, in this path, in leaving a better world for the next A .
Maybe a world one step closer to not needing an L at all.
If nothing had stopped me, one day there would have been nothing left but Alternative. He is not a mask one can take off when it becomes inconvenient, he is a skin you sew yourself into slowly, until his integrity is what's keeping you intact.. A has become a deathbed I realized too late I was making.
But, it isn't that I never thought of leaving.
I could walk away...
Wandering like a ghost, unhindered by past or societal taxonomy, exempt from the yokes placed on young men to make them whatever is most useful; armed with bibles or guns or shovels to do what needs to be done.
But, my freedom is overshadowed by the total absence of certainty, my purpose swallowed up by a life concentrated on survival. — Adrift, I know there will be no rescue when any there was lies six feet under and rotting.
I have no one. I am no one.
I know many resent their safety nets while accept cliff sides nesting sleepless vipers. I don't envy them, despite being in freefall myself. — At least, I don't have to go home to fight more battles than those I am already losing...
That is why I don't resent Wammy's House.
This path spared me what will haunt so many others — I've no memories captured in the immoral chirons of media posts or infinite digital clouds.
The voices and faces that once comforted me have been slowly pulled ever-deeper into my conciousness, my mind quietly eating itself alive, —
the way nature intended
I never had the opportunity to agonize over unwashed sheets, holding the last trace of their scent, because there was nothing left for me to hold onto.
My loss left no footprints for me to follow.
All I have is the implicit memory of sunlit lilies draped over searing black coffins and the lingering hope that it would mean something ... someday.
Maybe that's why this is so hard to give up.
I don't want it all to amount to nothing.
I have become nothing but t h i s , now.
I am nothing without t h i s .
If he takes everything from me,
I will leave L nothing to salvage.
I don't want my motives misconstrued.
What I will do with the Backup does not make him collateral damage in my private catastrophe.
He is not a martyr.
I am not inspired by a hatred of B for his opportunism,
It is not that he doesn't deserve victory, it is that, if he turns on me now, he has proven he has no honor.
An L without honor is a monster of limitless evil.
I am recovering my friend's body
and incidentally sparing you an incomparable tyranny.
I cannot speculate on how Wammy's has shaped B's psyche, but he has always had a recusant character ... and he knows I can keep a secret.
⎯ "Why did you do it?..." He sucks his teeth at the question as though there's room for doubt, as though he could delude me too. ⎯ "You didn't have a good time at the party, Alt’ ?" I watched him begin idly digging into his coat, the collar billowing around his face, his complexion is a sickly pale against it’s dark grey tweed ⎯ "You've gone too far this time. " He knew it, but I wanted nothing to be ambiguous about where I stood. ⎯ “You're not taking this seriously. Someone could have been killed. You could have been, I could have been- What is wrong with you? ” He pulled something from his slacks and only when he struck it against his heel did I recognize it was a match. He shook his head at my indictment but gave no indication of noticing that I had taken a step back. ⎯ “No, you wouldn’t.” His face turns, dark lashes casting sleepy shadows over the clinquant daylight caught in his eyes. I'm struck by how young he looks For a fleeting instant, I'm acutely aware that the teenager I'm standing next to is the same boy that played hide and seek with me in the meadow, long before we cared where this path was leading us. And, I am scared that if he turns a meager smile on me, I might forget all the heart ache he's caused. I might remember ... what it felt like to meet my wild-eyed friend at the fenceline and escape what brought us here, immerse ourselves in a world far away from the homesickness and disappointed adults and the fear of what would come apart next. When our hands would meet on the sun-warmed bars, metal and skin becoming homogenized heat that bound rather than separated us in a way that felt timeless to my seven year old senses, when it never crossed my mind that one day our fingers would grow too big to fit between the gaps... Standing together on the grassy nole, the breeze combs tender fingers through my hair and I sigh quietly as we watched the dining hall being assessed for damages, the smoldering aftermath of what should have been a re-birthday now the scene of a bottle rocket's explosion. The blossoming, radiant morning rang with shrill alarms and the sharp scent of flash powder like heaven at war. B lit a cigarette and perched it on his lip, allowing the silence that fell between us tell me everything I needed to know. Outrage swelled within me like a rising tide. He didn't think I deserved an explanation, I'm just another pawn caught up in whatever game he's playing,
⎯ "Why are you-?... Are you trying to tick me off ? !" He inhaled. soft, unruffled.
Uncaring. Not even meeting my eyes. ⎯ "You are .... your most endearing when you're angry, you know that?" His words carried on the smoke exiting his lungs, mirroring that pouring out of our home's windows between crashing booms. — "Direct and honest. ... For once. The right girl will appreciate that about you, you should stop wasting time and find her." He smiled around the smoldering stick in that way he does when he knows he's made a clever move and wants to say without saying ‘what now?’ I could viscerally feel my flushed rage. He's the only person I know that can belittle me with such a thorny effect, making me feel petulant and ridiculous for expecting anything from him, like he owes me. ⎯ "You'll put yourself into an early gave with those, B." I wanted it to be true. I want to spite him.
Maybe I want him to die right now. If one of the agents mistook us for intruders and shot him here in the blood-velvet reeds, then my company would be all he had. Then, maybe, he would appreciate that I’m here and what that really means, in spite of it all. Instead, B pulls the cigarette from his lips and flicks it against his fingers, letting ash fall like loose petals to the breeze. Careless. — "Ironic you would say that ..." Cryptic. It's as though he wants to rile me up. He should know by now where he is provocative, I am unrelenting — because I have to be, because I have to survive him. In my periphery, I take notice of the unfamiliar security moving in our direction and feel a twinge of fear that I should be more careful of what I wish for. But I don't move, there's nowhere to go and I admit there is an unexpected ounce of relief in the approaching danger. Though I'm not certain where it's from... — "There are so many... did they bring them here for us? Do you think it has to do with the bioterror case?" ⎯ " I considered that." He said with another flick of his cigarette. — " But, there's not enough unrest. No lock down, no interrogations, no medical testing, no travel bans. We’re going head-long into this, it's inevitable. It's a matter of when, not if, but we aren’t there yet... I warned him— about K, about X, about Y— but he won't listen. I did it, so when this is all over, he'll know I was right and he was wrong." "He's unreachable..."
— "He is. But, he would notice I breached security and slipped into his case files and left him a puzzle to follow. If he pieced it together, he knows someone's predicted who won't make it out of this alive." More than the fire and the guards, I am astonished by his lack of concern for self-preservation. "Christ— He might think you're part of it!" — "Maybe. Maybe that's why they are here, because as far as I can see I've either failed or he was never here to begin with." Bewilderment is followed by a surge of understanding that spreads over me like ice water, "You did this to flush L out..." ⎯ " P r o r s u s. " Exactly.
This is what it feels like to wait for the end of the world Only for it not to happen... — B said nothing. Battling a remarkably bloodless gratitude, I stumble to find something to say — anything in my lightheaded shock that's replaced the black-buzzing distress... but nothing comes. He begins to walk away, just as thank you begins to form unsteadily in my throat, but there emerges the smallest prick of dissatisfaction at this outcome that leaves me feeling too ashamed of being ungrateful to speak above a whisper . ... it's a macabre disappointment. I realize I have been holding onto a poisonous hope that B would show his true colours, that I would be exempt from our abiding alliance, I would have enough reason to take control, — that my end would be a turning point, that I could choose to burn it all down and not be fated to disappear quietly... Now, I've returned to the same indecision that will most likely lead to exactly that. But... I cannot ponder further how I may outmeuver fate, why he chose to continue a more difficult path with me as an obstacle, nor confront the calamitous fear lurking within me — I cannot risk the possibility that this will ever be seen. I cannot justify condemning us both, though that was my original intention. In the end, I didn't want my last chapter written by speculators. I didn't want the flaws in their design to go unaddressed, the way they must remain while I'm alive to suffer the consequences of failed propriety. I wanted them to know why. Now, no one can know these things ... I'm afraid that no one ever will, that by the time the real end arrives, I will not recognize it's here...
Of all the secrets I've kept, I think those that I know will die with me terrify me the most.

It’s 1AM. Have some Doll Part 2.
Not too sure about this one, but it’s something decent, no?
The owl, of course. @owlphases

~~~~~
Vapor breaths quickened and the grip tightened around the pipe. “Six, please calm down!” Mono told her.
She ignored the so called ‘liar’ and raised the pipe from the other doll’s fragmented torso. She had missed, but she wouldn’t quit; she took another swing at Mono, which was dodged once again. “You’re a traitor!”
“No, you have it all wrong! I saved you!” Mono reminded.
“Shut it!” Six yelled and swung at Mono again.
Mono continued to dodge and back up repeatedly until Six used up all her energy. He then used this as an advantage and grabbed the pipe before the two entered a tug-of-war-like competition. “Six, you have to believe me, I don’t want to hurt you!”
“Liar! You were with me so that they knew where I was! Is that why you were able to sense them coming from the roof?!” Six guessed.
“I did know they were coming, but I didn’t lead them to us!” Mono argued and tugged harder. “Six, let go of the pipe and trust me!”
“Never!” Six refused to conform as her eyes darkened and her arms elongated.
Mono flashbacked to the encounter and gulped. In mere seconds, he kicked Six in the gut and took the pipe out of fear. Before Six could grow any more and get back up, he swung at her temple and knocked her out. He crouched and checked for a pulse at her neck. He sighed in relief.
“I’m sorry,” he dragged her away from the school and into a nearby alleyway.
~~~
“Six… Six?.. Six? Six, are you awake?” The mentioned girl slowly stirred from her sleep and spotted Mono first in her sight then her setting, which was an alleyway. She began to growl like a greatly enraged dog and squirm like a rat in glue trap. “No no, Six, don’t shake please, the ropes will burn you,” he advised and signaled with his hands to relax.
She growled louder. “You betrayed me, you’re waiting for the dolls to come and take me, you monster!” Six yelled and exposed her sharp teeth.
“No no no, there are no dolls coming, I promise. Look, look,” he turned around and revealed a dead rabbit, “You need to eat most of the time, right? Eat this.”
He stepped towards Six and raised the rotting red rabbit to her flesh-ripping teeth. Six didn’t want to take food from a doll, but her stomach begged for it anyway. Her maw let the prey in and closed to consume the last of its material. “Six, will you let me—“
“More.”
He stopped his question, fed her again, and felt her aggression decreasing. “C-Can I tell you now?”
Six scoffed and said, “You can’t convince me, you puppet.”
He muttered, “Please… don’t call me that.” He didn’t enjoy being mentioned as controlled or dependent. “Six, I’m… not being controlled by… the man.”
His confession made Six look up at him. “What do you mean?”
“What I mean is that I wasn’t made the same as those dolls. When I was being given the dark energy, something happened and I was ‘unstable’. I was supposed to be fixed and when they tried to ‘kill’ me, I escaped and covered myself so that they wouldn’t find me,” he told his story.
“So why can you still sense where they are, or where I was?” Six asked.
“I-It’s an attribute that I got. Your dark power was like theirs, but… dangerous,” he said and grabbed a paper bag, “Since they have an energy keeping them alive and you have a dark energy, I can tell where they are and where you are.”
Six stared down at her stiff legs and peeked at Mono once or twice. “Why is your hair real?”
Mono stammered before saying, “My energy… It’s slowly turning me real.” He took out a glass shard and cut out circles for his eyes. “Six, I promise that I won’t lie to you. I’m helping you so you can get rid of your problem and so we can make this world good again. Can you trust me?”
“...”
“Six?”
She took deep breaths then said, “If you try to attack or trick me, I will crush you into pieces. You’re gonna stay in the front and you’ll listen to me. Okay?”
Mono nodded and felt something tug at his chest. “I-I understand,” he complied, wore the paper bag, and untied Six.
“Give the pipe,” Six ordered, “You’re not using it until I say so.”
“But Six, I need to—“ Mono tried to debate, but Six growled and her claws slid out, making him give the pipe quickly. “Okay, okay, just... Please don’t hurt me, Six.”
“Move it,” she said and pushed him forward.
And so they resumed their journey. Mono’s hands shook nervously and Six returned to her quiet state.

#Tomato #salsa, if prepared using fresh ingredients and low salt, has several #health benefits. Tomatoes contain large amounts of vitamin C and beta carotene. Lime and hot pepper also contain beneficial vitamins and minerals. Because of the fresh ingredients, you can include tomato salsa as one of your suggested four vegetable servings per day. Just 1/4 cup of fresh tomato salsa counts as a single serving. 1. Tomatoes The sweet, juicy flesh of a fresh red tomato contains a variety of vitamins and minerals. For example, a single medium tomato contains as much as a quarter of your suggested daily vitamin C intake. Vitamin C helps you deal with infections, including gum disease. Fresh tomatoes also retain more of their natural vitamin content. For example, tomatoes processed and cooked at 190 degrees Fahrenheit for one-half hour lose 29 percent of their vitamin C content, according to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. 2. #Lime and Jalapenos Peppers such as #jalapeno contain vitamins A, K and C, as well as folate and lutein. Vitamin A helps repair damaged cells and plays a role in keeping your eyesight sharp and skin healthy. Peppers also contain fiber. Fiber may help create soft, well-shaped stools that pass through your colon and prevent constipation. Lime juice has antioxidant properties and may act to prevent infections. 3. Olive Oil Though you can use other oils to bind your salsa and give it a smooth texture, olive oil offers some of the more obvious health benefits. For example, as the University of Michigan's Cardiovascular Center points out, many Mediterranean cultures have diets high in #oliveoil -- and much lower rates of heart disease. Olive oil contains mono- and polyunsaturated fats. Unlike saturated fats, these forms may help lower #cholesterol levels in the blood, reducing your risk of heart problems.
