A thing nobody talks about is that monosexual was originally coined by the same coiner of homosexual and heterosexual, and it meant something we label as autosexual these days, not experiencing attraction to only one gender as it's defined these days.

And I believe lesbian asexuals, who experience no sexual attraction whatsoever, are not monosexual in today's definition. But they aren't multisexual either. They may be monoromantic/monosensual/etc.

I believe monosexism exists as an extension of heterosexism. And I also believe androsexism should be a term too.

How would you describe monosexism? (isn’t the term “monosexuality” better?) I’m trying to understand what would be the difference you notice between being monosexual and being hetero or homo.

I’m pretty sure androsexuality is a term people actually use, it’s just not that popular.

listen man it seems a lot of the time my attraction to dudes (particularly cis dudes) is purely sexual, like no desire for romance, relationships, etc

which is not the same for like every other gender (including demiguys generally, though) - it seems more like the opposite, where the thought of personal involvement is first and sexual involvement is an afterthought

anyway I’m saying this because I’ve been seeing a lot of “it’s all internalized homophobia if you’re not attracted to every gender equally if you’re bi/pan/ply etc / if you use the split attraction model while being mspec”

and what I just described makes me understand how people may feel like they’re actually monoromantic while being multisexual?

like I don’t deny that there can be ulterior problems, like trauma or fear, but insisting that it all must be internalized hatred, and implying that your identity being based on or altered by trauma thus invalidates it, seems really Not Okay to me 

like would it really be such a bad thing for someone to be homoromantic bisexual because they’ve been abused by men and can’t feel comfortable in a serious relationship with them, but casual sexual encounters are still desired? 

(and no I’m not talking about people feeling obligated to sexually engage with men, I’m talking about people who still feel the surface attraction but little else beyond that)

(and I’m also not saying I am... everyone-except-men-sexual, I’m still bi, this is just a realization I had about this particular debate)

Variooriented basically means having a reason to use the SAM, experiencing different types of attraction seperately/toward different targets, such as biromantic asexual. Opposite: peri-oriented, like aroace or biromantic bisexual. M-type variooriented means monoromantic multisexual, or multiromantic monosexual, or mono- in at least one and multi- in at least one other attraction way that one considers relevant. A-type variooriented is alloromantic asexual or aromantic allosexual or see above.

this could come in handy but im dont really want to even acknowledge the SAM for myself so id rather not call myself peri despite the fact u could make up a lot of rom orientations for me
