Night shift

The flowers are blooming at night ... It reminds me of a song by a band I know.

But how could you not be intrigued and impressed by a flower that, contrary to the general rules of photosynthesis, blooms at night and retreats at sun-up ....?

The moon flowers is also know as the tropical white morning-glory, but its glory comes not in the morning, but in the dead of night.

And it’s not because they crave moonlight; they bloom in the dark even during a new moon. They prefer the night shift because they’re pollinated by night-flying insects, like hawk moths.

I caught these night owls just as they were ending their night shift and tucking themselves in for the day.
