WHAT ABOUT YOU? WHAT IS YOUR WISH?
My wish? I haven’t really thought about it in a while… but I may already know the answer to your question. It’s the same reason why I’m taking care of the Moontree Lodge: I want to follow in our pioneers’ footsteps. Those who forsake everything in pursuit of truth, and those who dedicate their lives to the welfare of others.

"Originally found in Shardclan's territory by Willowmoth during her Assessment, Shadedkit was brought back to Tuskclan and was adopted by the medicine cat and his mate."
Before I explain anything in this text, I'll share some important information to keep in mind;
These clans aren't "Dawn of the Clans" new but they aren't as refined as the ones in the current day books either. The story of the original founding of these clans is still being told to young kits with a good amount of accuracy!
The Warrior Code (also may be referred as "the code of the stars") is still very much a thing here but with a handful of changes... notably
Medicine cats ARE allowed to have mates and kits.
Cats are not restricted to one clan.
A cat can move into a different clan, explore another clan's territory, visit another clan's camp, be mates with a cat from some other clan...
BUT! a cat still cannot hunt in another clan's territory and they cannot leave their own clan's territory at night (more-so for safety reasons than anything else... not a strict clan code rule!)
"Why was Willowmoth in Shardclan doing her assessment if she's from Tuskclan? Is that normal here??" NO!!!!!!!!!! 💥💥💥💥💥
The clans can have their own specific customs as along as they don't break the Warrior Code!
One of Tuskclan's customs is that the *deputy* needs to complete an assessment before actually getting their role. In that assessment, they need to go to the Moontree and come back in a few days time.
The Moontree is located in Shardclan's territory!
Shadedpaw specifically... since this is his ref and all...
I don't wanna say TOO much cause he is a important character to the plot/story... so here's some general statements!
Shadedpaw is conceited but also airheaded, preferring to go about things as they come to him rather than prepare and stress. His pride comes entirely from being a medicine cat and his ability to speak directly with his ancestors... but... Starclan doesn't come to his dreams. Even when he visits the Moontree.
He only meets silence.
Any cat can learn how to find and utilize herbs... Just as any cat can learn how to fight and hunt. That connection with Starclan made medicine cats important!
Why was he the outlier?
~
thxxx for reading! here's a bonus art:
Tumblr media
hiii dappledpawwww... awww look at herrrrr.... she's making theories about starclaaannn..... awwww.... lil dappledpaaww... i hope there is no horrors related to the clans overall leniency towards conflict within their control behind that door <3333

Littleprance has been like this for the past week. Grief has a way of blinding any avenue of hope.
Text transcription under the cut
Ghosttuft: I’ve got your back, Bisonstar.
Bisonstar: I know I have no merit to stand before you as leader, but after visiting what remained of the MoonTree, I have received the final wishes of Asterstar and StarClan. Firstly, what is most important is that we carry on—
Littleprance: CARRY ON?!?!
Littleprance: HOW CAN WE CARRY ON?! We have lost EVERYTHING and EVERYONE!

Working with Mortefi and having a crush on Xiangli Yao. You're unaware that everyone knows and even more unaware that they also know it's reciprocated. It culminates one day where you're splayed out on a table and lamenting while Mortefi (tries) to work around you.
He practically slams the tool in his hand against the table, shoulders tense as he asks you to 'just go talk to him'. Once you've reiterated for the thousandth time why that's simply impossible (every word punctuated by the click of Mortefi's lighter), he offers an opening. Ruthless logic countering every irrational fear you had.
What if Xiangli Yao hates me? What if he thinks I'm pathetic? What if he's already with someone?
But you trust Mortefi to have his facts straight.
And that's how you ended up 'accidentally' discovering the secret behind Moontree Lodge. He's thankful for your help in granting wishes, and you notice how much brighter his eyes seem. It was wonderful to spend so much time with him, no longer admiring his stoic expression from afar, but instead bearing witness to soft smiles and gentle eyes.
As you return from granting the last wish, both of you ready to celebrate and relax, a single wish tag remains. There's a moment of fussing before he's reaching for it, frowning when all it contains is a set of coordinates.
Your heart is practically in your throat the entire way to the designated location, praying to the sentinel that Mortefi had been right.
And that's how you confess your feelings, bathed in moonlight and smiling brightly while he glances around for a clue, getting more anxious by the second at the prospect of not being able to fulfill it in time.
"My wish is to stay by your side and make sure yours come true as well."

Changing Skies Theories/Ramblings below. (But no real spoilers I guess, since we don't really know anything beyond the book one teaser)
I know there's been a lot of theories (at varying levels of seriousness) about Moonpaw and the Moonpool dating or merging into one creature. But I genuinely believe that if the Erins really have the guts to shake up the status quo enough by getting rid of the Moonpool and permanently altering how the Clans contact StarClan, it would be a really cool idea for Moonpaw to become the new connection to the Stars.
The Broken Code established the lore that the cats need an "open portal" of some kind to have any communication with StarClan. Like, they couldn't dream at the Moonpool, or receive dreams in camp, or receive any signs at all, when the Moonpool was "closed." So following that logic, the permanent destruction of the Moonpool would result in the permanent loss of communication with StarClan, essentially relegating medicine cats from spiritual leaders and healers to healers only.
The lame solution would be for them to just find a new Moonpool. (As the Moonpool was already the Moonstone 2.0. Like, maybe Moonpaw finds a weird, ghostly-white tree which has a StarClan connection and she gets named Moontree in honor of it.)
But the interesting solution would be for Moonpaw to have a direct connection to the spirit world without a need for a Moonpool/stone conduit. She could become the sole spiritual leader in the Clans, and maybe every so often a new cat will be born with this hyper-strong spirit connection, who becomes her successor(s.)
As for what I want Moonpaw's powers to look like specifically, I think it would be interesting if she got something that was like a mixture of Jayfeather and Goosefeather's powers. Jayfeather had an instant connection to StarClan whenever he wanted, so he had a lot of control, but was limited in what he heard/learned there. Meanwhile Goosefeather was sort of the opposite; he had no control, but was always bombarded by spirits and prophecies (which he couldn't act on.)
I'm imagining that Moonpaw, being an "open portal," initially always has spirits talking in her head, and she can't tune them out. She's basically just a gateway, and she has no clue on how to regulate her powers, or even that this isn't a "normal" way to exist. Her arc would be about gaining control, so she can block out the spirits she doesn't want, consciously dream her way into StarClan and back, or seek out specific spirits that she wants to talk to/need to talk to her.

FlickerClan’s Legacy
Chapter 4
Hollowrunner knew the half-moon meeting for the medicine cats was coming soon. She dipped her head in greeting as Clovekick bounded past with a mouthful of herbs, practically glowing with excitement. Hollowrunner watched him go, her mind turning toward Jasminelarch. Would StarClan speak to him at the Moontree? Would he be the one to walk beside her when her own time came? When she stood before her ancestors to receive her nine lives?
She hoped so. Maybe the rumors of how painful the leader ceremony was were just that—rumors. Maybe, if she were lucky, she could spend it pressed against her mate’s side, hearing the stars whisper with Jasminelarch’s warmth keeping her grounded.
Her gaze shifted to the leader’s den. Auburnstar hadn’t spoken much to her lately. Maybe Woollydrizzle could offer something, some hint of what was going on behind the ivy.
“Woollydrizzle!” Hollowrunner called out.
The light brown tabby jerked her head up in surprise and nearly dropped the mouse she was carrying, catching it just in time by the tail.
“Can I help you, Hollowrunner? Do you need me on a patrol?” she asked, her words muffled around the prey.
“No, no! I might need you for a dusk patrol, but that’s not why I stopped you.”
Woollydrizzle’s eyes flicked to the leader’s den, then back to Hollowrunner. “Can we speak in a moment, then?”
Hollowrunner hesitated. “I was hoping to speak with you about… Auburnstar. I’m worried. I just wanted to ask if she’s been—” she hesitated, her eyes lowering as she dragged a claw through the dirt, “—thinking anything strange. Saying anything unusual.”
Woollydrizzle sighed. “I’ll try to find you later, Hollowrunner. If it’s not about patrols or duties, I hope you understand...I’m a little busy at the moment.”
The words struck like thorns in Hollowrunner’s chest. Her ears twitched at the unexpected sharpness in Woollydrizzle’s tone. But before Hollowrunner could respond, Woollydrizzle’s gaze softened.
“I’m sorry,” she meowed. “I didn’t mean to sound so harsh. I know you’re worried. I am too. We can talk soon, but you’re the deputy, Hollowrunner. If you’re truly worried about Auburnstar… speak to your leader first.”
I’ve already tried! Hollowrunner wanted to yowl. But Woollydrizzle was already gone, slipping back through the ivy and into the shadows of the den.
Hollowrunner stood alone in the clearing, the silence thick with the unsaid. She scraped her claws across the earth again, a low growl rising in her throat but never leaving her mouth.
The moons were moving too fast, and her questions about Auburnstar, the curse, and her future kept circling like hawks overhead. And no cat seemed to have the answers.
“Oh, that’s rough,” mewed a voice behind Hollowrunner. “You’re getting stomped over like leaves in leaf-fall and you’re the "deputy!"
Hollowrunner didn’t entertain the prodding with so much as a glance. She turned and padded toward the warriors’ den, done with the world for the moment. But the voice followed like a burr in her pelt.
“Hollowrunner, where are you going? It was a joke, c’mon!”
A ginger blur darted ahead of her, cutting off her path. For a fleeting second, Hollowrunner thought back to what Bluegaze had said about her strength and her size. She wouldn’t use it, not like that, but the temptation to send him crawling back to the nursery was overwhelming.
Instead, she sat and began to groom her chest fur, she didn't even bother to hide her irritation. “What do you want, Spiketrot?”
“So, everything’s been, y’know… tense lately, and I was just thinking maybe I could have an apprentice?” His eyes sparkled with excitement. “Pretty please? Quaildazzle’s litter is growing fast, and I thought I’d, uh, put a little worm in your ear. I promise I’d turn them into the best warrior FlickerClan’s ever seen!”
On another day, Hollowrunner might’ve tried to let him down gently. But between Auburnstar’s absence, Woollydrizzle’s brush-off, and her own patience hanging by a cobweb, she couldn’t summon the energy. She wanted her nest and silence.
“No."
Spiketrot blinked in surprise. “No?”
“I’m not assigning you an apprentice from that litter. You still need time to prove yourself. If you’re a better fit later, maybe you’ll train someone from Freezehorse’s litter. But there are warriors with more experience who are better suited for what Pipitkit and Poppykit need.”
Spiketrot’s surprise curled into a sneer. “Name a single warrior who’s more qualified.”
“Batshadow,” Hollowrunner replied flatly.
“Batshadow?! Your brother?! The one stuck in the medicine den with a tail that looks like it went through a badger’s jaws?! He decorates dens and sings to kits! He couldn’t guide a kit to a puddle.”
Hollowrunner kept grooming, though every muscle in her body tensed. It took everything within her not to scratch his nose off then and there.
“Batshadow is a capable warrior. And unlike you, he understands the value of every cat in FlickerClan!Whether or not they match your narrow vision of strength. Do not speak of him that way again.”
Spiketrot’s claws unsheathed, his fur bristling. “Or what? Is the mouseheart deputy going to cry at me to stop?”
Hollowrunner stood slowly. Her towering frame cast a shadow over the smaller tom, and her eyes burned blue-gold with fury. For a moment, all was still.
“That. Is. Enough,” she hissed.
“Hollowrunner!” Yowled a cat from the other end of the clearing.

I made a new OC x Canon. And might’ve gotten a bit obsessed with them-
His name is Nebula Moontree. And he’s like a nova wolf. And he is hopelessly in love with Silver. To the highest degree.
I really wanna write a fic about them. Since I’ve been in a slump with writing stuff. And honestly them and CookieRun took over my mind. So uh-
They were inspired by ShadowVanilla just a bit. But don’t have the same dynamic. So yeeee
All the drawings below in order are: First drawing of Nebula. Kinda like trying to figure out what he looks like.
Second one is of Nebula and Silver first interacting I imagine. Don’t wanna say too much about them yet.
Third is just a Nebula drawing for fun. With him in a cute outfit I was inspired to draw from Pinterest.
And then the fourth is a collection of doodles I did of them. Not that deep.
Also don’t mind that his hair is a bit inconsistent. I was trying to figure out what I wanted. The basic idea is he has flowly galaxy hair lol.
I definitely wanna talk about them more. So yeee.
Oh and I call them Destined Stars. Cause I can’t say their names together in a ship name. It’s too hard lol.

Please god don’t make the cats move territory again please god.
I would like them to maybe find a new MoonPool thing. Maybe a huge tree! Idk something interesting. And then moonpaw can be named like MoonTree lmao
I need them to stay put, they had this massive historical move to the lake, I would hate for them to do another one only a decade later. There’s still a significant amount of cats alive from the first move lol.
A Moontree would be very cool, it would be like the wildcats.
Speaking of which, I now have a suspicion that if they do move, they will make the abandoned Star Tree from Ivypool’s Heart their new Moonpool.

YIPPEEE MEADOWCLAN INFODUMP :D
Basically I took the Tomodachi Life philosophy of shoving all of your OCs and favorite characters into Situations together and applied it to warrior cats to see what would happen and it’s so fun and I already have so much lore akjfldf!!!!
OK SO. Meadowclan! This grassy hilly area with lots of flowers, a river, and a forest off to the side! Cats often decorate their fur with flowers, both bc it’s pretty and to hide their scent so they can hunt more effectively.
Kits batting at butterflies and bees (and quickly learning not to attack the latter lol). Cats mostly hunting rabbits and birds and fish, with the occasional frog or deer or fox.
And then there's the Moontree, this big old cherry blossom tree at the edge of the territory, whose petals seem to glow in the light of the full moon. Maybe there's some water pooled at the roots, and when significant events happen, cats will look up to see cherry blossom petals blowing in the wind ouo
---
Mothstar arc, aka We Didn't Start The Fire:
It's a rough concept but basically there's a prophecy from Starclan about fire overtaking the valley, something about snow and flowers. It's around the time the clan was first founded so Stonestep (Stone) was going to be appointed leader, but he dies under mysterious circumstances.
Mothblaze (August) becomes Mothstar and is appointed leader, though I'm thinking he doesn't get any extra lives? Something something the clan is just starting out, Starclan is quiet, this is new territory so nobody's there to give the lives, I dunno.
He's charismatic and pretty good at keeping the place running since times are tough, but more suspicious things happen and the rules start to get bent and changed. Cats get exiled and poisoned.
Snowblossom (Artic) discovers the truth and tries to expose him for the murder of Stonestep, he tries to start a controlled fire as an exertion of power but it quickly gets out of control (a gas canister near twolegplace?) The fire is stopped and Mothstar gets kicked out, left to wander the forests beyond the territory.
Which actually lines up fairly well with canon August's story; founding a town, creating a well-managed but ultimately corrupt system, messing with forces outside of his control in an attempt to show power, and getting exiled once his lies are exposed.
(Except in the case of canon, August supposedly drives off this calamitous dragon and uses that to emphasize how dangerous the mountains are and that it's safer with him, until Artic figures out that this dragon is herbivorous and only acting this way because of people being aggressive to it and taking its territory.)
Shimmerwing (Estelle) becomes Shimmerstar as the new leader, and is given a second life by her ghost cat husband Stonestep. Also she was the one who discovered the Moontree!
Cherry blossom petals are seen flying in the breeze above camp, and Snowblossom keeps one in her fur ouo
At one point Mothstar tries to come back to take revenge, but Shimmerstar just stares him down like "this is my house now bitch" alksfjdf
I was joking around with a friend about her giving him coal BUT COAL IS USED FOR FIRE SO IT’S LIKE MAKING FUN OF ALL THE DAMAGE HE DID AAAAUGH
---
Birchfall arc, aka that time the Onceler invented cat capitalism. Catpitalism, if you will:
So cat Onceler starts out as a kittypet named Ollie but ends up in Meadowclan. He's loud and clumsy and easily grossed out, pretty rubbish at hunting and fighting, and he keeps sneaking into the medicine den to eat the mallow-
But what he does have is knowledge of twoleg stuff, and he invents a system using herbs as currency. It quickly catches on and spirals out of control, because now cats are picking so many herbs that they can't grow back.
And with all these herbs being stashed away or constantly in circulation, Nettlefur (Medic TF2 the medicine cat) can't get his paws on the plants he needs to Do His Job.
So it ends with Birchfall getting exiled and he just. Goes back home to being a kittypet like nothing happened akfjakdf
---
Misc character stuff:
- Mothstar is this longhaired splotchy mix of red-orange and brown, with markings on his sides that resemble a moth's eyespots!
- Snowblossom is a small floomfy white cat with blue-gray stripes and little spots on her face like freckles ouo!
- Daffodil is either a birman or ragdoll? She's Snowblossom's mom, currently in the elder's den getting some much needed rest ouo
- Shimmerstar is this sleek black cat with shiny fur that turns blue in the light, like a crow! And the classic white four-pointed star on her forehead
- Nettlefur is a silvery german longhair with the messiest fur alive. He brought a cat back to life once and Starclan HATES him for it
- Stonestep and Thornsong (Cedric) are tuxedo cats but Stonestep has gotten more and more white fur with age, like this! Also Stonestep has a missing arm like in canon + a bobbed tail, and Thornsong has a rose in his fur ouo
Tumblr media
- Unlike canon Stone who died before Cedric was born, Stonestep is still alive by that point so he was able to mentor Thornsong and be there for him when his parents dipped out ouo
- Doveheart (Dove) is this cream point ragdoll (white heart mark on chest? White lily in fur?), Maple (Mel) is this BIG floomfy orange and white tabby loner, and they and Thornsong all meet up at the clan borders to hang out. They’re friends your honor
- Cloudpaw (Cloud) is an all white cat, and Dustpaw (Petra) is a sandy brown cat with long ears and a bobbed tail that make her look like a rabbit ouo
- Cloudpaw is super fast while Dustpaw can jump super high, so they work well together! And since they never got separated like in canon, they never had such a strained relationship and they love going on adventures together!
- Their warrior names are Cloudflight and Dustbite! Which is an Another One Bites The Dust joke but also fits the rabbit theme bc dust bunnies!
- Twinkie (Wink) is a red-pink kittypet with a shimmery light blue bow and polydactyl paws!
- Birchfall is a tall, lanky gray cat with white on his belly and socks and face, darker gray stripes on his tail and legs and back, and little freckles hehe ouo. As a kittypet he likes wearing tiny hats
- I haven’t fully decided on a name for Ink but I’m calling him Leafwhistle for now! He’s a calico that was originally a loner, joined for free food, but nothing really changed and he just comes and goes whenever he pleases and nobody has been able to stop him
- Harespring (Springtrap). Yknow that one post about the green cat? He looks like that, but with a lotta scars (including burn scars from the fire), longer ears and a bobbed tail like Dustpaw.
- Harespring is the guy that Mothstar framed and subsequently exiled for Stonestep's murder, but they brought him back after everything gets resolved lol. Currently in the elder's den telling the apprentices scary stories
- Hollypaw (Holly) is one of if not the most reckless cats in the clan- She got exiled during Mothstar's rule for snooping around too much, and she has a habit of eating berries without checking if they're safe
- Her warrior name is Hollydash! Also what if she's the one Nettlefur brought back from the dead bc she ate deadly berries alfkds
- Cloverleaf (Forgetica) is the mediator aka the much-needed therapist
- Spiderfang (Sylvain) is a gray-blue oriental shorthair, very angular shapes. He thinks Nettlefur is the coolest dude ever which is such a bad influence alkfsjd
- Sporeshade (Kieran) is this short and stocky brown maine coon, with a scar over his nose like in canon. He has a rogue partner named Concerto (The Escapist), but nobody knows what a concerto is or how to pronounce it so they just call him Connie for short akjfsdf
- I'm thinking Cloudpaw is being mentored by Thornsong, Dustpaw is being mentored by Doveheart, and Hollypaw is being mentored by Leafwhistle? Also maybe Spiderfang is a second medicine cat
Heeehehehe ouo

𝐗𝐈𝐕. One of the things that I've been thinking about is the topic of wishes and how they're related to Jinhsi in a way that transcends the realm of simple, aleatory magic or pinned as a "stroke of luck". These definitions, at best, are the ways people have to describe occurrences in which they see with their own eyes wishes coming true. To put some context about why wish-granting isn't mere magic and it's fruit of Jinhsi's own effort at making wishes come true within her possibilities even if she isn't asked directly:
◜Perhaps it's due to the resonance with my host. Since I was young, I have had many dreams. In my dreams, there was often endless darkness. In my dreams, I was closely connected with the people of Jinzhou. I could hear everyone's most sincere wishes. I could also feel everyone's joys and pains. [...] I have seen the unwillingness and pain of millions. Sadness and sighs.◞ — First Appointment Radio Late Night Channel.
She's omniscient to people's feelings but also their wishes. This is an important point to determine the needs of her people and address these issues however she can. Sometimes, she will use festivities for this purpose in order to have a clearer vision of where to start as opposed to having thousands of wishes in a jumble easy to forget due to how many they are, such as the Moon Chasing Festival and people entrusting their wishes to the Moontree Lodge. It may come across as unfair sometimes for her to just be able to fulfill a few wishes, but there is as much as she can do without neglecting other needs in a much bigger picture that is the entire region of Jinzhou.
Nevertheless, it's important to note that her wish-granting activity is one of the main things that earned her people's trust in her to begin with, young as she was when she was appointed officially as the Magistrate. Even if this would mean to direct people's faith on Jué and not necessarily on her (hard as it might be to believe some of the things she does, it is her who does them through the power Jué shared with her up until their fateful clash), that alone would be enough to uplift people's spirits in knowing that Jué —through her— is with them. Until with time, they would realize that attributing these feats to Jué is a white lie not made out of malice, but strategically made so that people believe that wishes will indeed come true if they reach her, and that she will work to make them come true.
◜During a reconstruction event, the young magistrate performed a "miracle" known as "Sentinel Granting Wishes." The remote village had been plagued by weather anomalies for years. Even though the Tacet Discords had stopped, villagers still suffered from extreme cold and gloom. Jinhsi asked the villagers to voice their wishes. At first, silence hung heavy until a sneeze broke the silence. A timid voice then followed, "It's so cold… I wish it was a bit warmer here." Standing amidst the crowd, Jinhsi held a Loong Scale, closed her eyes, and nodded, "I will convey your wish to the Sentinel." Right after her words fell, loong horns sprouted from her head, and a Sentinel-like light pierced the dark clouds and the snow on the ground—just in an instant, the ice thawed, and the land once again sprang to life.◞ — Jinhsi story: Her Wish-Granting Magic.

Here is my genetically accurate oc warrior cats tree. They are from Ruinclan. Their camp lays in a broken down manor. (thank you hungry little warrior for the explanation:) )
Darkstar(she/he/they) is a newly appointed leader. Her brother, Whitestar was the former leader. She is wise beyond her years. She does have a slight Tall Shadow/Shadowstar complex where she doesnt trust anyone except those close to her. (I'll add Whitestar later)
Antpelt(they/it) went from, warrior apprentice, Medecine cat apprentice, medecine cat to warrior. When they were a warrior apprentice, a medicine cat who landed in the darkforest convinced them they were part of a prophecy and that they should become a medecine cat. The reason the Darkforest wanted a medecine cat so they had more power over Ruinclan. Later Antpelt realized that being a medecine cat really wasnt for them, visiting the Moontree really helped them gain more confidence that they could leave their position and be a warrior.
Whitepatch(all the pronouns) is the current medecine cat, she's overexcited and asks her papa for study tips all the time, though Antpelt barely remembers their training as is.
Ratstripe(he/him) is a nervous warrior, jumping at the slightest and many doubt he is cut out for the warrior life, though those are often the people who havent seen him in a fight.
Sealclaw(she/him) is the opposite of her brother, rushing ahead of the patrol and often scaring prey. She still needs to learn patience despite being a full warrior.
Marshpuddle(he/him) is an escaped kittypet. He is a year old and reached the clan as young kit. He's often resting in the elder's den since that's the warmest part of camp, made of old twoleg bedding. He's Antpelt's current partner. Antpelt is currently expecting Marshpuddle's kits :) (I'm ignoring that there is a limit to who can have kits. haha you cant stop me from expanding this family tree forever!!!!)

(1.41) All Grown Up
Tumblr media
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
"Cats of LightClan," Lightrunner spoke from atop the Light Rock. "I have called you here today to announce that our three eldest apprentices have passed their warrior assessment. They showed great initiative and skill in discovering the Moontree at the Misty Grotto, where our healers will be able to commune with StarClan for many seasons to come."
As Antpaw listened to the clan's unofficial leader, he felt a surge of pride well up into his chest. It was finally time! He and his sisters had come a long way to reach this moment.
"Mousepaw, Birchpaw, and Antpaw. Do you three promise to uphold the warrior code and defend your clan, even at the cost of your lives?"
A tiny "yes" rose up from Mousepaw, and a much more confident confirmation followed from Birchpaw. Antpaw could safely promise that he would be loyal to his clan as well. "I do!"
"Then, may StarClan shine on you all like a warm ray of light." Lightrunner purred subtly, then cleared her throat.
"Mousepaw, from this moment forward, you will be known as Mousetail. LightClan will forever honor your warm heart and creativity."
Antpaw was surprised to find that the group of cats that had gathered were already cheering. With a glance at his sister, he could tell that Mousepaw- now Mousetail- also felt this way. For his little sister, Antpaw was glad that nearly the whole clan was cheering her new name... with Magicburst being an obvious exception, as the tom was hardly even paying attention to the ceremony.
"Birchpaw, from this moment forward, you will be known as Birchshine. LightClan will forever honor your wit and determination.
Birchpaw- Birchshine- was next to receive her name. His sister puffed out her chest proudly, welcoming the praise of their clanmates.
"And lastly, Antpaw. From this moment forward, you will be known as Antstride. Lightclan will forever honor your bravery and keen senses."
Antstride. Antstride felt confident that this new name suited him well, and he wasn't at all offended at his sisters being named first. After all, Lightrunner needed to save the best for last, didn't she?
Tumblr media
With the whole clan cheering their names in unison, Antstride gave Birchshine a playful bump with his side, which in turn sent her stumbling slightly into Mousetail. Both of his sisters laughed, finding a new bliss in their shared ceremony. Antstride's heart warmed at the sound. They may be warriors now, but they would be littermates first and forever. Who could ask for anything more?
┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Arrival
An outburst of pure joy crawled into the fireplace, drifted into the chimney, and climbed into the open air. The sunrise was late, casting a long shadow of timber over the cottage. The laugh became a graceful cyclone and wandered into the woods to socialize with the trees and mingle in the ferns. It happened upon a grove of bushes that wilted only in color, floored by wet earth strewn with shining leaves of silver. And with its power, the noise came like a torrent through one shrub to tear away its white petals toned with sweet pink, sweeping them along in its breeze. It spiraled into the wind again until the air became neighbors with the sea.
"Look!" said Wila, spotting a pair of petals in the sky. "Do you hear that?"
"That's it!" said the light talent fairy with a hand to his ear.
"I got it. Hang on!" The wind fairy zipped up to meet with the fleeting energy. The second, in yellow, set off at wing-breaking speed to send word to the rest of Fairy Island. "Everyone! To the Pixie Dust Tree!" he cried. "A new arrival has come!"
As well as they could, each fairy who could hear finished their tasks and gathered up to fly home. A moontree arched over the tiny islets like a great mother, with its curling limbs draped with raspberry-shaped lanterns tethered by vines. Mosses and flowers sprouted from inside the bark here and there, some large enough to provide seats for fairies. The lifeblood of the island coursed through its fibers, golden, bright, plentiful, and trickled in a healthy stream down its trunk until it pooled in light at its base. In this spot, fairies of old had carved out a wooden floor from the roots, where all seated themselves. Faires, wearing shades of mahogany and gold, waved fingers of pixie dust out of the pool and scattered the stuff onto the floor. Some of it seeped into the intricate engravings in the wood.
Wila captured the petals in his swirling wind magic, kindly guiding them down to their bed of sparkling dust.
The two settled together, and the powder came alive. It gathered with the petals until it coated them thickly in gold and formed them into a bubble. The spectators could spot the faint image of someone stirring inside. Before he was able to open his eyes fully, the fairy sat up from his side and touched, causing the orb to pop and give him a wholesome dusting of gold in his hair. He heard the gentle voices of wonder, focusing blinking eyes on those around him.
"Good morning," some of them chirped.
"Hello," smiled more.
The sparrowman wasn't sure what to say.
He knew, somehow, he was small, especially under all those watchful eyes. At first, he knew the strength to move. He rose to his knees and pushed with his arms, stumbling a little to stand. The petals had formed themselves into clothes over his blushing skin: a dainty vest of white and snug pants woven from scarlet-tipped leaves of gray.
Tall fairies in a rainbow of different ensembles gathered around as well.
"Born of laughter, clothed in cheer," said a fairy wearing a pink rose petal gown. "Happiness has brought you here."
The small one only blinked, and his lips hung open slightly.
"What is your name, little one?" asked another. He wore golden robes and mahogany leaf spines snug around his thin neck.
"I..." he mumbled, "I don’t…"
"Not to worry," grinned the one in pale yellow. “Welcome to Fairy Island.” The rest of the fairies gave their warm applause.
"Welcome to Fairy Island," echoed the one in a voice contrasting his vibrant red vestments. "This is where we work together to keep nature's glow and the balance of all its inhabitants."
"We maintain what is all around you," said a sunken sparrowman in plum-colored leaves. "It is up to you to find what part of it you will make."
The new fairy wavered as the elders stepped away, conjuring offerings they left in a circle around him. One of the towering sparrowmen left a leaf that matched his red clothes, and the tall pink fairy left a blossom of her likeness. Surrounding him were a droplet of water, a feather, a spinning cloud, a ball of light, a leaf pouch, a cotton brush, and a mortar.
"Choose?" the sparrowman found the flower especially attractive while curious about the contents of the drawstring bag. Too many choices at once! He barely knew what any of them meant. He wouldn't choose the water bubble; he shied from the mortar and apprehensively passed the little cyclone. He almost approached the paintbrush, then examined the dual colors of the feather. Light? Leaf? No. The symbols of nature seemed to wilt around him until all that seemed to be left were tools. He found that the pouch would not open, and the mortar turned to ashes when he held it. From the remnants, he chose the brush, and the wood seemed to catch fire in his hands. And despite the searing of his whole body, he could not let go. He could not look away from the blinding light, unable to hear the loudest cheers coming from fairies in white and pastels.
"The greenwing has chosen the talent of the arts," announced the shortest of the elders, smiling the brightest.
The remaining symbols dissolved, and the fairies continued to clap for him. This time, the noise was not daunting, and it made him smile at them all. The elder in white took his shoulder, and musicians began to play on their woodwinds and drums. The paintbrush must have burned up and gone, he thought.
"Hold a moment, there," the sparrowman in gold petals stopped him from leaving. Asara grasped his green wings so as not to bruise them and ran his fingers over their swirling veins until their tips stood high. "There you are. On with you."
The little one beamed at his new wings, watching them flutter and sparkle with the magic dust that coursed through them.
"Are you excited?" the elder of the art fairies didn't bend to him for long, for the young one was not patient about his wings. She held his hand, helping him rise into the air. "You like them, I see," she laughed, watching him climb higher.
"Oh, yes!" he giggled, spiraling down to follow her. She led him toward the trodden path in the tree's roots. "This is amazing!"
Her blushing cheeks never stopped smiling. "Welcome. My name is Chella, and I am the leader of the art fairies. I'll be around just in case you need any help." she clasped her hands together and rose on her wings, clear silver in the shape of a butterfly's, inviting the newcomer to follow suit on his sharp ones. "Granted, we art fairies do not all do the same thing. We have many sub-talents, you could say." she led him down the hill from the pixie dust tree, over the arched sea glass bridge, and onto a wide beach of pink and blue sand. "This is where we gather to create. We make music, write, and paint."
"We do all this?" the greenwing asked, waving quietly at the creators they passed who welcomed him.
"It's no requirement," Chella said. "Many of us find proficiencies in design. I enjoy acting and performing, but there are many practices outside the theater for you to excel in." the elder conducted him throughout the hamlet as the risen sun painted the world white-gold.
They passed through quiet sunrooms filled with lounges, cozy workspaces for writers and illustrators, and buzzing studios where flower paint sloshed to and fro. The greenwing felt exhilaration while standing on the stage in the empty theater, where actors, musicians, and dancers would perform. The smells of fresh scones and fruits filled him to the brim when Chella introduced him to the kitchens, and he took note to visit them often. In a studio with high glass walls, fairies talked and sewed and tried new clothes hewn from petals on each other.
"You've come a treacherous way here. I think you'll be relieved to find your new place to rest your wings." Chella fluttered him into a shaded meadow in bloom with pink geraniums. "While our carpenters and stoneworking fairies build many of our houses, some can find homes in places forgotten by humans. Like yours~!" she sang as they arrived at a white, six-sided birdhouse. Its wooden shingles were freshly painted the color of terracotta, and its windows were round lenses. The circular door was banded with silver, with a tiny seashell as its handle. A lantern made of a chain and locket dangled from its overhang and creeping vines kept the house rooted firmly in the soil.
"It's so quaint," his eyes sparkled at the sight of his place, so perfect and just for him. He flew up to the house's wooden peg and opened the door.
"You'll find it decorated by our interior designers," Chella said, this time following him.
The floor was a cushiony maroon jacquard, and the dark fireplace was once a ceramic pipe. His table was dried-up sunflower, and his overhead lamp was a daffodil.
"We art fairies make all our furniture, so you'll take it up with our makers if you find anything missing, I trust."
"Uh-huh?" he replied absentmindedly, his cheeks tired from grinning.
"I hope you enjoy it here." her voice went short of a whisper in his little home. "You've made it a special day." Chella retracted toward the door. "At sunset, there will be a festival with dessert on the beach, and we'd love to see you. And before I go, you know who to find for a tour of Fairy Island, right?"
"Y...you?" he replied, taking an acorn cap for a bowl.
"That's right. We look forward to seeing you."
"Thank you."
"It’s my pleasure!" Chella called, bringing her flowing, flower-painted skirts and billowing brown curls with her.
The greenwing closed the door behind her. He padded through his house, bereft of food, save a cinnamon muffin in the cupboard that was iced with the word, "Welcome!" Despite the careful selection, he found just a bit of decorating to do later. He hummed for the first time as he crossed to an ovular mirror that stood near his bed, checking his clothes, running fingers through his caramel curls and leafy locks of pink and green that sprouted here and there. He admired his teal-tipped wings and thought, cute. His aimless tune ended when he found a second cupboard. The toy rowboat was empty if not for the neatly folded outfit on its middle shelf.
He changed into it for the festival: a loosely-fitting shirt of speckled lily petals with sleeves that came over his hands, shorts made of brown leaves that reached just above his mid-thighs, and a woven belt with an ovular rose quartz fastening. He stood akimbo in the mirror, proud to dress for the first time.
The greenwing crawled out of his dim house and into the sunlight, zipping into the sky as fast as he could. He flew in circles and spirals and loops, closing his eyes to feel the cold on his cheeks as it blew his hair away from his forehead. The rushing winds felt like the feeling he had missed all his life, although none of it had yet occurred.
From a few feet up, he could see all of Fairy Island: gardens, nooks, shops, and streams, and as long as he didn't look straight down, his hands and feet would not feel tingly. He sat on his roof, tangling his bare feet in the thick rope that his birdhouse may have once hung by, and as he did, he had only one thought,
"I can't wait!"
