Criminal Minds is such a good comfort show for those who crave platonic love and a supportive family dynamic. I understand why people love to ship, but I just struggle to see any sort of romantic chemistry between ANY of the main characters. They are all siblings/parental figures to me

I have noticed you post about not shipping Garvez, which, much respect, people are allowed to ship or not ship whatever they want, but it does make me wonder: what will your reaction be if they do become canon?
I mean, nothing? Just cause something is canon doesn't make me change my mind about shipping it? They'll always be a brOTP for me. I'm a wlw fanfic author, I literally haven't ever shipped any m/w pair on this show ever. (Morcia is fun in the background of Jemily early season fics, but I've never focused on that ship) Literally the only person I've ever shipped Luke with is Derek tbrh (and that's specifically in the confines of my Fooled Around AU) Idk, I spent 100 years watching this show focus on men and the male actors have always been treated better than the women. I've had enough of the men. I am solely here for the women of the BAU, always have been, always will be. Like you said, people can ship whoever they want. Just cause Garvez is a squick for me, I don't care if it's someone else's OTP? Whether it becomes canon or not, it's not going to make me randomly start shipping it. That's the magic of fandom.

okay so i saw your recent post about wanting morcia requests and this is more of like a suggestion??? i guess i don’t know but it just came into my head and i think you could write it so well omg idk if its already been done BUT
morcia in that episode where morgan is driving the ambulance and its about to explode right well he’s asking garcia to keep talking to him right?? and she just like blurts out in her rambling that she loves him like for real for real
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 the dialogue of the beginning is taken straight from the episode, which is 4x01 Mayhem.
———
Penelope worked quickly with Officer Bartelby to triangulate the signal and shut down the cell towers. Then, she called Derek through her earpiece. “Morgan?”
It felt like an eternity before he replied, “Yeah, baby.”
His breathing was labored, his voice slightly threadier than usual. She kept her tone as even as she could, though her nerves began to build. “You sound stressed.”
“Do I?”
She would have said something snarky, bantered a little, but there was a knot growing in the pit of her stomach. “Where are you?”
He took another heavy breath. “Not where I wanna be right now.” There was a pause. “Garcia, take this down for me: FDNY 108.”
“That’s an ambulance,” she said cautiously, and the nerves became amplified. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, and she didn’t believe him for a second. “Just track it for me.” And then he let out a stressed, frustrated sigh.
Penelope didn’t say anything, just worked with frantic fingers to get the information he asked for.
Thirty seconds later he was back over the comm. “Oh my god,” he muttered, not meant for her to hear. Then, “Garcia, how long can you keep jamming the cell phone lines?”
Nothing good ever followed an inquiry about a time limit. “Uh— a few minutes. Max. Why?”
“‘Cause I’m gonna have to get this ambulance out of here.”
Her heart went cold. “Or you could just evacuate the building like everybody else,” she corrected, a little desperately.
“No,” he answered. “As soon as the airways are clear this thing’s going up.”
The determination in his voice was enough to have her scrambling. “Going— oh, my god, that’s in, like, three minutes because that’s when the satellite moves position.”
He didn’t respond, and she could hear the slamming of the ambulance door, an incessant beeping sound, and Derek fumbling around, muttering out a, “Come on.”
She could feel the tears starting to well up, watched helplessly as the blocked cell towers blinked on her computer screen. This could not be happening. She was not going to lose Derek Morgan like this.
“Garcia, listen to me.” His voice broke her out of her spiral. “I need you to find an area of town I can drive this thing, and you tell everybody— you hear me, everybody— that I’m comin’.”
She nodded even though she knew he couldn’t see her, fingers slamming over the keys to find the closest open area she could. She heard Derek begging the ambulance, “Come on, baby. Do it. Go.”
And she knew it wasn’t her he was talking to, but it gave her the boost, the motivation she needed to figure this out. To save his ass, like she always did.
“All right, talk to me, Garcia.”
His voice was frantic, and she worked to keep hers level, even though she felt like screaming. “Okay, head north... and floor it. I’ll tell you where to turn.”
She heard Derek’s breathing, the squealing of the ambulance tires, and then what sounded like fireworks. “What was that?” she demanded.
“It was nothing, it was noth— just talk to me.”
She murmured quiet directions to him, tried her best to soothe him, keep him calm and focused. Turn left here, use this side street, keep going north. Derek’s frantic breathing dominated her ears more than the blaring of the siren. He didn’t speak at all, just listened and navigated and drove a ticking time bomb through the streets of New York.
“How am I doing, Garcia?”
“How’s he doing?” she asked Bartelby.
“One minute, fifty seconds,” came the response.
Less than two minutes left with this man who had spent the last five years teasing her, supporting her, building her up, cherishing her— just as she was, and she couldn’t keep it together any longer. “Why does it always have to be you? Why do you always have to do this?”
He didn’t respond to her, and now the panic was turning to anger. “Derek, you don’t have much time. Please be smart about this. Signal’s coming back online.”
“30 seconds to full coverage,” Bartelby warned.
“Derek, drive to the opening and then get the hell out,” Penelope demanded.
“There’s something I really want you to know, Garcia,” he murmured.
“20 seconds.”
“Save it,” she begged, because there was no reason to be doing final confessions. He was going to be fine. “Just get out.”
“No, no, no, I’m not quite there yet.”
The tears bled through in her voice as they rolled down her cheek. “Morgan... please.”
Bartelby’s countdown rang in her ears, and then Derek tried again. “Just listen to me.”
“No, you listen to me, Derek Morgan,” she shot back. “Because you’re not gonna die in that stupid ambulance, but since you’re acting like you will, I’m gonna yell my love at you, and you’re gonna listen.”
She stared at the countdown of the cell towers. “You’re strong and kind and patient and supportive. You’re chivalrous without being chauvinistic, and you’re protective without being patronizing. You’re a hero and the best man that I know. You’re— you are my absolute favorite person.”
She was crying now, tears running hot down her cheeks and burning tracks that she was sure she’d still feel long after the saline dried up. But he needed to know, and she was angry with him for putting himself in this position, and she was angry with herself for being such a coward for so long.
“You can’t die, because I don’t know how I’m supposed to live without you, Derek. I— I love you. I know we’ve said it before, and I meant it then, in that way. But I’m— I’m in love with you. I don’t know when it happened, but it’s— it feels as natural as breathing. Like a fish loves water, like dry ground loves rain, all those pretty, flowery similes they write on planners and coffee mugs.”
Bartelby informed her they had ten seconds, and she rushed out the rest, all the things she’d been holding inside because she wanted to keep Derek in any way she could have him. “But I also love you when it’s hard, when we’re not in very good moods, when we’re struggling with demons that we thought we’d conquered. And I— I’ve never loved anybody like that.” She let out a shaky breath, shook her head and felt a sob building in her chest. “I need you to get the hell out of that stupid ambulance, because I can’t do this without you.”
“We just lost tracking,” Bartelby murmured.
The breath caught in Penelope’s throat, and she closed her eyes. “Morgan?”
The explosion rattled through the earpiece, Bartelby dropped her elbows to the desk in defeat, and Penelope couldn’t breathe. “Derek?”
For a long moment, there was nothing, and she was sure that she’d lost him. The man she should have been able to fix up houses with and play scrabble with and bake vegan treats with and raise children with and grow old with— was gone. And then...
“You know what you are Garcia?”
Penelope’s heart jump started and relief rolled through her like a tsunami, and then she rolled her eyes with absolute and pure (loving) disgust.
“I’ll tell you what you are to me,” Derek panted. “You’re my god-given solace.”
Penelope closed her eyes, brought a shaky hand up to wipe the tears from her cheeks. From the corner of her eye, she saw Bartelby lean back with a small smile.
Derek continued, “Woman, you promise me one thing— whatever happens, don’t you ever stop talking to me.”
Penelope huffed. “I can’t right now because I’m mad at you.”
“I can wait.” He sighed into her ear piece, and it was the most beautiful symphony she’d ever heard. “And Penelope?”
She sniffed in response, and he laughed a little at her pettiness. “Ditto, baby girl.”

Why Are You Scared of Loving?
morcia blurb for @temily <3
Summary: Three times Derek says “I love you” and the time Penelope finally says it back.
Pairing: Morcia
Rating: G
tw: none
The first time he said it out loud, it wasn't even to her. Prentiss and JJ had been teasing him in the bullpen on one of their days off.
"Oooooohhhh look at his face," Emily had said to JJ while eying Derek, "He can't stop smiling!"
"Careful Morgan, your face might freeze like that." JJ teased from her spot next to Emily.
"I'm pretty sure it already has!" Emily laughed as she brought her hand up to protect herself from the file that Derek had thrown her way.
"Hey, I can't help it if I love her." Derek had shrugged, still smiling from ear to ear.
"You what?" Derek froze hearing Penelope's voice from behind him. All three agents froze, their smiles slowly dropping.
"Babygirl! I–" Derek started, but she was gone by the time he turned around.
***
The second time it happens, they were on a case. It wasn't even on purpose. It was a slip of the tongue, a habit, like he'd been saying it all his life. The team was gathered around a small table in the local precinct, listening as Garcia debriefed them on what she found on their latest unsub.
"Thanks Garcia," Hotch said as he went to update the local police.
"Stay safe crimefighters! I'll hit you back when I have more details." Garcia said while the others started gathering files and head back into the field.
"Alright, thanks babygirl. I love you." Derek said and everyone froze. It wasn't his usual flirty "love ya mamma" sign off. He hadn't said anything since the day in the bullpen. Every time Derek tried to bring it up, Penelope would always change the topic or find a way out of the conversation altogether.
There was a pregnant pause before Prentiss finally spoke up, "Garcia, are you still there?"
"Yep! Bye!" Penelope said shortly. They heard a click and the line went dead.
***
The third time was after dinner, Derek had made his famous sweet potato pie and Penelope had insisted on cleaning up.
"Baby, you don't have to do that," Derek smiled, coming up behind where she was standing at the sink, "I'll do it in the morning."
"I know, but you made such a wonderful meal and the least I can do is clean it up a bit." She frowned slightly as reached from behind her and took the towel and plate and set them on the counter.
He spun her around so he could look into her eyes, "It's ok, really. Having you here is all I need. I love you."
He could feel her stiffen in his arms. This time it wasn't some offhanded comment to a couple of friends or some passing remark at the end of a phone call. This time, Derek's voice was filled with unspoken promises and a future with a white picket fence and kisses goodnight and growing old together in rocking chairs on a porch overlooking the ocean. This time he meant every syllable of those three small words and Penelope was terrified. Terrified because she could feel all the emotion in his eyes; terrified because she could sense him gazing into her soul and tearing all her walls down; and most of all terrified because she wanted to let him.
Derek could see her mind going into overdrive. He could see the worry in her eyes and he could feel her pulling away even if there was less than an inch between them.
"Babygirl, talk to me" Derek said, moving an out of place strand of hair out of her eyes, "Why are you scared of loving?"
She could feel her heartbeat slowing just from listening to his voice, calm and soothing, "I just–"
He could feel her start to shake in his arms so he poured her a glass of water and slowly moved them to the couch.
"Please don't push me away." Derek said lowly, turning his body to face her.
"It's just that in the past, everyone I've ever loved ends up leaving... My parents– Kevin– God, even Shane. And I can't let that happen to you, Derek. I won't. Because I don't know what I would do without– do without you, " She hiccuped, "And I–"
Tears were running freely down her face and the sight broke Derek's heart. He took both her hands into one of his and wiped her cheek with the other, "Penelope, look at me please."
His hand went to her chin to gently lift her head until her eyes met his gaze, "I'm right here baby. I'm not going anywhere. Do you feel this?"
He brought one of her hands up to his chest, over his heart. She could feel his heartbeat, strong, and steady, and unwavering beneath the soft fabric of his shirt.
"This is me not going anywhere. This is me promising to be right here by your side for the rest of your life. This is me not running from what makes me happy anymore. This is me loving you with every beat of my heart." Derek said, looking at her as her eyes were locked onto where her hand was still placed on his chest. Her breathing was quiet and stable now but her watery eyes still shined brightly in the dim light.
After a long moment she finally raised her eyes to meet his with a small smile, "I love you, Derek Morgan."

i wonder if he knows he's all i think about at night
summary: spencer pinning after derek, even though derek is in love with penelope
pairing: spencer reid x derek morgan (moreid)
word count: 917
a/n: all credits to Teardrops On My Guitar belong to Taylor Swift
☆。*。☆。
A particular set of dark brown eyes looked at him from across the bullpen. Bright and full of joy and mischievousness. Matched with a contagious smile. One of the many reasons why Spencer loved his best friend. The well-built man walked over to Spencer with two coffee mugs in hand. Derek handed the scrawny man his favorite Star Trek mug. Coffee with lots of milk and sugar. Just how he liked it. Spencer thanked him, with a small smile tugging on his face.
“No problem, pretty boy.” Derek said. Spencer’s heart stopped for a second and a light flushed appeared on his cheeks when Derek called him that. Pretty boy. The curly-haired man never got called nicknames until he met Derek Morgan. Every time he got called a nickname by Derek, Spencer fumbled over his words and became shyer around the one he yearned for. He tried. The young man tried to become more confident and lessen his mumbling of words. But how could he? When that’s how he naturally acted around the man he loved.
Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see
That I want and I'm needing
Everything that we should be
Spencer wondered why. Why did he feel this way for his best friend? I’m mad at you. For making fall for you. I’m mad at myself. Why did I let myself fall for you? These thoughts intruded the young man. So much so, he laid in his bed, wide awake at 3 AM. Every waking moment, his heart aches for Derek to be in his arms. To be his.
Whenever Spencer started to infodump on a topic, Derek would stay and listen. And that made the young man seen and heard, and made him fall even more with his best friend. From his infectious smile to his wise-crack jokes, Spencer felt lucky to call Derek his best friend. But, he felt unlucky to fall for him. Because Derek Morgan being in love with someone else. The one and only Penelope Garcia.
I'll bet she's beautiful, that girl he talks about
And she's got everything that I have to live without
The mousy-haired man listened to Derek talk about his baby girl. His god-given solace. Every day Spencer felt his heart chip away, piece by piece, and all he could do was be a supportive friend. A friend who fell in love with his friend who didn’t see what was right in front of him. Pinning after a man who himself was pinning after a girl. Silly, wasn’t it? But how can Spencer stop loving him, when his heart made him fall more for him.
Drew talks to me
I laugh 'cause it's so damn funny
That I can't even see
Anyone when he's with me
Penelope came over to the two men and rewarded them with bear hugs. Spencer noticed that the hug between Derek and Penelope was a bit longer than usual. His smile may say one thing, but his sad brown eyes said something less. Why not me? Spencer sighed and walked away from the “couple” and prepared himself for the morning briefing.
Spencer sat across from Derek at the round table. He tried to pay attention to the case but his eyes always wandered to the man in front of him. A few minutes went by and Spencer was snapped out of his daze by JJ calling for his name.
“Spencer, you okay?” JJ asked. Spencer mumbled over his words in embarrassment.
“Yeah- uh… I’m fine. Totally okay.” the young man kicked himself mentally for almost giving himself away. After Hotch said “Wheels up in 20”, everyone dispersed from the room to get ready for the flight. The only one left was Spencer. He sighed and thought about Derek. He wanted to push the thoughts out of his brain to focus on the case. But how can he when the memories still were all in his head, in burning red.
He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car
I keep singing, don't know why I do…
He was in love with his best friend for years and not once did Spencer tell Derek how he felt about him. Secrets shouldn’t exist in friendships. But the young man was afraid of rejection. Fear. Abandonment. He did not want to lose a friend. Spencer’s heart deeply hurt as he could not bring himself to say the words. I love you, Derek. Forever and always. But moving on from him was impossible.
He's the time taken up, but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into
Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see
Even though they were both profilers, Spencer wore his best fake smile, to hide his love and hurt he had for his friend. Soon, the young FBI agent has to learn to let go of his feelings for Derek Morgan. The Stark Trek coffee mug was left on the wooden table. Standing up from his chair, the young man walked out of the briefing room, readying himself for the case. Spencer took his jacket, go bag, and leather crossbody bag from his desk. He walked out of the BAU’s glass doors, heading for the car to be taken to the airway strip. He mulled over the case details in order to forget the one who intruded his mind.

Who Loves You? (Penelope Garcia x Derek Morgan)
Derek Morgan’s in love. That much is clear. But with who?
Penelope Garcia, in short, has no idea what to expect when Derek Morgan walks into her office at 7 o’clock sharp on a quiet Friday morning in late October. It’s not unusual for him to show up so early, he often stops in before hitting the gym before work. But he doesn’t have his gym bag with him this morning, that’s the first thing she notices when he walks in the door. The second thing she notices is that he looks tired, like he hasn’t slept in a week.
“Can I talk to you for a minute, Penelope?” He asks, and her heart drops. It’s Penelope. Not babygirl. Penelope. Still, she smiles as wide as she can manage and leans back in her ergonomic swivel chair, steepling her fingers.
“Of course. What can I do for you today, mi amor?”
“I’ve been thinking about something, and I think I just need to-“ he gestures vaguely. “-talk it out with someone. With you.”
“Talk to me, Derek. What’s going on? Is it work? Your mom? A girl?” He flinches, as if surprised. Penelope gasps and claps her hands together. “Oh my god, it is a girl! Who is she?” Derek shakes his head.
“That’s not the point.”
“Then what is the point?”
“I didn’t sleep last night. At all.”
“Derek, I don’t need to hear about how you got laid last night.” As a matter of fact, Penelope Garcia wants nothing less than to hear about Derek’s new girlfriend. Still, she flips a pen between her fingers and steels herself.
“No, it’s not- this girl and I, we’re friends. Good friends. And I love that we’re friends. It’s a good friendship, you know?”
“Sure.”
“And I spent so long being friends with her that I never even considered... you know.”
“What, love? It’s not a dirty word, babe.”
“Anyway, after... everything that happened last week, I’ve given my life a lot of thought.” Last week, Derek had nearly died at the hands of Billy Flynn. Penelope can’t remember ever being so worried for him as she had been, or as angry as she was after he had yelled at her. But then he had bought her dinner and apologized approximately seven hundred thousand times, and she forgave him. “And I couldn’t sleep last night because I realized...” He swallows hard, like the words won’t come out of his mouth unless he forces them.
“Derek,” she says gently but firmly, and takes his hands in hers. “Tell me. Whatever it is you’re trying to say, tell me.”
“I realized I don’t want to be her friend. Well, I do, but I don’t just want to be her friend. You know?”
“Yeah.” Penelope chuckles breathlessly. “I do.”
“Well, I spent all of last night trying to figure out what to tell her. When to tell her. How to tell her.”
“And you want my advice? Aw.” Penelope batted her eyelashes.
“I can go talk to Hotch, babygirl-“
“No, no.” She thought for a moment, tapping her pen against her chin all the while. “Tell her... tell her that loving her and being her friend aren’t mutually exclusive. Tell her that being her friend makes your love go that much deeper and that much stronger. Tell her that being her friend wasn’t just a step to loving her but that it’s the simple basis of the reason you love her.” Penelope took a deep breath. “Tell her that, and if she still doesn’t fall in love with you, she never will.” He considers her momentarily, and Penelope shifts in her seat. Her confusion only deepens when he kneels in front of her. When he looks up at her, his eyes are earnest.
“Loving you as my friend and just plain loving you aren’t different things,” he says. What is he doing? Practicing? “I love you because you’re my friend, not in spite of it. I’m not your friend because I love you, I love you because you’re my friend. And I just... love you.” Penelope smiles and clears her throat.
“That was really good, Derek. She’s going to fall in love with you, I guarantee it.”
“No, Pen, I-“ He sighs, shaking his head, and rises to his feet. “That’s not-“ And that’s when he does something very odd. He spins Penelope around by her shoulders to face him, takes her face in his hands, and kisses her. He’s warm and smells like Old Spice and coffee and the geraniums he has planted on his fire escape. Penelope freezes, unable to think. So. He wasn’t practicing then. When he releases her, she blinks rapidly, her eyes wide. The office is silent except for Derek’s heavy breathing and the soft sound of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons over Penelope’s computer speakers. His hands are still radiating warmth into her cheeks, and with one hesitant, but not quite shaky, hand, Penelope reaches up and wipes a smear of dark pink lipstick off of Derek’s upper lip.
“So it was me.”
“Yeah, babygirl, it was you. It’s always been you.”
“You love me.”
“That’s about the size of it, yeah.” Penelope leans back in her chair and lets out a long, slow breath. “What? Should I not have- I shouldn’t have done that. Damn it.”
“No! No.” Penelope grabs Derek’s hand and squeezes it. “That- I- no. You definitely should have done it. But, um, I just don’t... get it.”
“What’s there to not get?”
“Nothing, exactly, but...” Penelope sighs and rubs her temples. “I love you, Derek, but in my brain, I thought when you were flirting with me- I thought that was just, you know, how you are.”
“I’m still confused, what’s the issue here?”
“The issue, Derek, is that in all the years I’ve known you, I never even considered that you were flirting with me because you liked me!”
“To be fair, Penelope, neither did I until a couple of weeks ago!”
“And that’s exactly the point.” Penelope smiles, but there’s something a little bitter there. “What if you don’t? What if it’s all in your head? What if you’ve just convinced yourself that you love me because I’m just, like, the only woman who’s close to you and knows all your secrets and knows that you like your coffee with more sugar than you say and knows that you play the cello and knows that you still have a stuffed panda bear your dad gave you in your closet?”
“Why are you so convinced about this, Pen? Didn’t you hear what I said?” That’s when Penelope snaps. She jumps to her feet and begins pacing the room, waving her hands as she speaks.
“Because in the movies, the girl like me doesn’t get the guy like you, Derek! And that’s not to say I don’t think I deserve a guy like you. I know my worth. But the guy like you ends up with a girl like Emily or JJ. Not me.”
“And what exactly do you mean, ‘a girl like you?’” Derek leans against her desk and folds his arms across his chest. “A smart, funny, beautiful, and overwhelmingly kind one?”
“Sure, but I’m also loud. And weird. And nerdy. And I dress like this.” Penelope gestures down at her dress, which is patterned with big yellow, green, and blue abstract shapes.
“So? Babygirl, have you learned nothing since you started working here? Real life isn’t like the movies. In real life, there are no guys like me and there are certainly no girls like you. There are just people. And even if there were, a guy like me would get to fall in love with whoever he wanted to. A guy like me could fall in love with an Emily or a JJ or, hell, even a Spencer, if he wants to. And I want to fall in love with you, Penelope Garcia.” Penelope stopped her pacing and sniffed.
“That was some speech.”
“Thank you. I try.” He stands and crosses the room until he’s facing her. With one hand, he tips her chin up until her eyes meet his.
“I just have to ask. Once. And I’ll never ask again.” She wrings her hands, but manages to calm her breathing. “Are you sure? About me? About us?” He smiles, the wide, brilliantly white, toothy grin that she fell head-over-heels for the first time she saw it.
“I’ve spent my whole life waiting for the day when a beautiful, kind, funny girl-“
“Don’t forget smart.”
“Right, and smart. Anyway, I’ve been waiting for the day a girl like that would love me just as much as I love her. Now, it’s been a lot of years that I’ve had that dream. Are you gonna ruin it for me, babygirl?” Penelope doesn’t answer, at least not verbally, she just throws her arms around Derek’s neck and kisses him. He doesn’t even pause, just wraps his arms around her waist. She’s just running out of breath when the door to her lair opens. They jump apart, panting, but it’s too late. Aaron Hotchner stands in the doorway, his hand still on the door handle, his eyes wide and mouth hanging slightly open.
“We’ve got a case. JJ’s ready to brief us. I was just coming down to get- um, to get you, Garcia.” Hotch clears his throat. His eyes dart around the room, refusing to make eye contact. “But we need both of you in the briefing room.”
“Right. We’ll be right there.” Hotch opens his mouth as if to say something else, but he appears to think better of it and backs out, closing the door behind him.
“Well, that’s not ideal,” Penelope says, sitting back down in her chair.
“Crap. We’re in deep trouble.”
“Please. We’ll be fine. Hotch and Emily practically invented inter-office romance.” Derek’s head snaps up.
“What?”
“Never mind. Don’t worry about it. Point is, Hotch won’t get us in trouble.”
“Good.” Derek nods and shifts uncomfortably from foot to foot. “Okay. Well. Um, bye.” He leans down to kiss the top of her head, a familiar and comfortable gesture, and after a moment of hesitation, presses a soft kiss to her lips. “Bye,” he says again.
“You know we’re going to the same place, right?” He stops halfway to the door.
“Yep. I knew that. I definitely knew that.”
“Walk me to the briefing room?” Penelope asks, sidling up to him.
“Always,” he replies, and holds out his arm, which she takes. This is not the first time she has taken his arm, and it is far from the last, but it is the first time that when she takes it, he kisses her cheek. It is the first time that she knows for certain that the butterflies in his stomach are going just as wild as the ones in hers. “Thank you,” he says, his eyes fixed on the hall in front of him.
“For what?”
“For letting me love you.” Penelope squeezes his arm.
“My pleasure, Mr. Morgan.”
“That’s Agent Morgan.”
“Whatever you say.”

Next challenge idea!!!
Thank you so much to the discord members who helped come up with this.
Animal + Theme + Ship
You will choose from a list of animals plus a theme (animal AU, pet, shapeshifter, daemon, etc.) and a ship.
And then I will assign one thing off each of those lists. The story must include the assignment in some way but you can be creative about how you do it! It might be a cat was key to solving a crime, a bird was how Hotch and Spencer finally get together, Spencer watched dog boy p0rn on his phone and wants to try some things…
The choice is yours! As usual for my challenges no Xreader and no OC’s so the focus remains on the CM characters and you must be 18+ to participate and ratings can be whatever you are comfortable with.
Ships will be -
HotchReid, Ralvez, No Pairing, Moreid, Jemily, Morcia, or Penemily, - you choose what you’re comfortable with so some pairing will have multiple and some might not get any if no one wants to write for them.
Here’s the form to sign up if you want!

A Lesson In Romance #2: Opposites Attract
Spencer Reid x Fem!BAU!Reader
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1k
Plot: Reader keeps getting caught in rom-com situations with Spencer Reid. This time, they become friends.
A/N: I can't believe I rewrote this chapter, like, 5 times, but I'm kinda happy with the final result 😌😌😌 Again, my ask is open if you want to send me a trope request!
Masterlist | All chapters here!
-----------
Contrary to popular belief, you've watched your fair share of rom-coms. Or at least enough to understand its three-act structure, even if you didn't understand why people bought into it just yet.
Take the concept of "opposites attract" for example. Two people with completely different interests and personalities are supposedly perfect for each other because they compensate for the other's weaknesses. But it was illogical, you knew this for a fact.
Opposites attract had your college roommate crying herself to sleep when she decided to date a popular jerk-wad. Opposites attract caused your best friend to transfer schools after a cruel Valentine's Day prank. Opposites attract made your dad divorce your mum and leave you and your siblings alone at the ripe age of eleven.
But according to rom-coms, these relationships were worth it. There was nothing sweeter than a shy person complementing a loud bully, or nothing that screamed sexual tension more than a practical joker tormenting a goody-two-shoes.
For your entire life up until this point, you just didn't get it. But then you met Garcia and Morgan, and things began to make sense.
The two of them couldn't be further apart. Derek was a typical player — traditional good looks, muscular, was probably a jock in high school. Penelope, on the other hand, dressed in bright colours and even brighter hair. She seldom left her office — which, for the record, was covered wall to wall with cuteness — and cared about her technology like it was an extension of herself.
At first, you didn't understand why they were so close. They were basically polar opposites. But when one of your first cases with the BAU hit too close to home for the usually cheerful tech analyst, you watched Derek drop everything he was doing to gently support her through it.
This was enough to make you rethink your theory. And if you were being really honest, it was enough to make you yearn for something like that for yourself.
Because the thing is, you hadn't stopped thinking about the shy, awkward man you met at the coffee shop. Even more so now that you were working together, and you found out that he was a certifiable genius with an IQ of 187.
To add to your surprise, you and Spencer weren't opposites — not in any material way, at least. You couldn't say otherwise when you only knew the things that everybody else knew.
Like how the two of you had qualifications in psychology (he had a B.A., you had a PhD), loved Doctor Who (he preferred Tom Baker, but you were partial to David Tennant), and shared a favourite movie genre in science fiction, but specifically space opera (he loved Star Trek, you were nostalgic for Star Wars).
And that was just the beginning.
You begun to realise little things about him every day that you noticed in yourself. The obvious one was your coffee preferences. You pretended not to notice when the team raised their eyebrows at the three full spoons of sugar you added to your coffee everyday.
But you also noticed the way Spencer bounced his leg when he was nervous, or moved his mouth when he was reading at that unbelievable pace.
You watched him so often, in fact, that one day you found yourself doing his trademark awkward smile and you realised your silent observations had gone too far.
In reality, you hadn't spoke to him alone for more than 10 minutes since you joined the team. The two of you were always around other people for some reason or other, and after the first few weeks passed like this, the expiry on talking to him about the coffee shop incident seemingly ran out.
Then one morning, when the coffee machine at work broke down and you were beginning to think this was the start of a very bad day, a cup of coffee was gently placed in front of you.
"Good morning," Spencer greeted, pulling over the chair from his desk to sit next to you. His held his own cup of coffee in one hand.
You recognised the logo as the coffee shop where you met him. The same one you'd been avoiding since you started working here. (Ok, so maybe the reason you hadn't spoken about the incident wasn't entirely due to external forces.)
"What's this for?" You asked, as if you didn't already know.
"A peace offering," he said, locking eyes with you. "I haven't seen you at the coffee shop in three weeks, which coincides exactly with the day we met and your first day at the BAU. I've... I've come to the conclusion that you're avoiding me, but I really hope you won't."
"Why?" You asked, reaching for the warm takeaway cup.
"Because I'd like to get to know you better." He said frankly. You were glad you hadn't taken a sip yet, because you might have spit it out in shock.
In the rom-coms you watched, confessions like these usually happened to a swell of music and dimmed lights, maybe while the two main characters were dancing in each others arms. But under the fluorescent lights at the bureau, you only felt your heart swell to an imaginary soundtrack.
"So would I," you replied, smiling despite yourself. You couldn't believe you just compared a rom-com scenario to real life, but watching Spencer's smile widen at your reply made the critic in you subside. His smile was, strangely, beautiful to you now.
"You're lucky I remembered your order," he teased, his pinkish cheeks weren't beyond your notice.
"Spencer. We share the same coffee order and you have an eidetic memory," you replied dryly.
"I know," he said, and the two of you locked eyes for a moment before breaking into a bout of laughter over the absurdity of your relationship.
Unbeknownst to the two of you, the unusual sight had caught the eyes of the other members in the bullpen. But it was only the next morning when you and Spencer walked into the office with matching cups of coffee, that the team confirmed that something was definitely up.
And they were going to find out what.
