AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be

EDIT: seems this is more common among ND people than i thought, and probably not limited to AuDHD specifically :] i was just describing my own experiences and didn't expect this post to blow up, so don't take me for an authority, but i'm glad it resonated with so many of y'all

I always make an effort to look at paranatural through the ~2013 era lens it was conceptualized from, back when it was at it’s most subversive, in tandem alongside its contemporary lens. Because thats what Paranatural was, for those who aren’t aware — paranatural played off of & against the common shonen & cartoon tropes and character expectations that were prevalent in that age: the wise and just mentor, the prejudiced bully, the action girl implemented to pushback against sexism + the subversion of the action girl, the excited rare skilled selfless battleprone protagonist, etc.

most new fans will likely see the comic and take it at face value — why shouldn’t they? — when in reality there’s so much more of a dialogue happening underneath the hood. There is so much underlying, forgotten context that makes paranatural, paranatural

How draw wings.

first thing, references all day long. I like to use physical books that I pick up from thrift stores like this massive book on birds of prey-

it's got giant spreads that are really easy to look closely at. I really prefer physical books and images over digital references unless I need something really specific cause that way I've already got the good poses bookmarked and I don't have to go searching

If you don't have access to any good books, I definitely recommend getting reference images from stock image sites like pexel.

Step 2 is simplification. Don't try to draw exactly what you see; instead look at the major shapes in the wing. In the image above I can separate the major parts of the wings into these shapes: (doing all this with a trackpad so bear with me)

which can be further simplified to something like this:

don't be afraid to play with shapes either to make them look nicer and less stiff. definitely look into wing anatomy as well, I'm not an expert on that and there are definitely people out there who can explain better than me lol

I think it’s an interesting tidbit of information for the writers to sprinkle in, and really makes me wonder what his personal relationship with religion looks like. He quotes the bible at Robby but immediately explains it with “I studied theology in college,” NOT “I’m Christian” or something along those lines. It comes across to me like he’s someone who grew up in a pretty religious family but may himself have a complicated relationship to it—kind of similar to Robby
